How often do people like to tell you that what you think is wrong or what you believe is wrong? And how often do you then stay quiet or back down?
A lot of people complain about the world but are silent when it comes to the things they have problems with.
Part of being positive in the world, finding your positive place and place of peace is to release those things inside of you. If you believe in something, then live that something. If you believe something is right, then stand up for that something.
Negativity comes from regrets. Regrets come from not doing things you should do. How often is your mind filled with those missed chances at standing up for what you believe in? More often than you think. Your fantasies and dreams stem from missed chances. You may think about a better job. Maybe that better job you want is because you missed an opportunity you thought should be yours.
Do you think about possible relationships? Broken relationships? Maybe even a current relationship that is poison?
Fear keeps people from standing up for what they think is right. That fear will lead to a life time of negativity, doubt, sadness, regrets. You don’t have to confront people, you can simply say that it’s over and be done with it. Walk away.
Other issues require speaking up. I know for a fact that anger can build up by being silent. That anger interferes with attaining the peace you want. Look at the quote at the beginning. If people don’t accept you for you and what you are and believe, then you don’t need them, they aren’t your friend or people you need to be around or a workplace you need to be in.

I’m currently reading a book called Stein on Writing by Sol Stein. In it he states and I quote: “the single characteristic that most makes a difference in the success of an article or nonfiction book is the author’s courage in revealing normally unspoken things about himself or his society. It takes guts to be a writer.” ….
You have this guts he speaks of, that makes a good writer. I see you time and time again standing up for what is normally left unspoken.

Speaking out is hard when you’ve been raised to “be nice”. I dislike conversations that are really debates, with a score card and a winner. I don’t usually have facts at my fingertips, just a feeling.
That said, I read somewhere that depression is sublimated anger. Basically, us hating on ourselves because we didn’t speak up.
So, there you have it, a tough road either way…

It isn’t really about debates. I am basically talking about speaking what you believe instead of regretting not saying anything at all. Debates and arguments do nothing really.

An excellent and very true piece. To live with no regrets and at peace with yourself you must say what you believe, even if it clashes with others. It can be said nicely to avoid friction but if others don’t accept your entitlement to that belief then they are not the friends/colleagues that you thought.
The one exception to this rule is a politician who can say how he believes as much as he likes but must always follow he dictates of his voters.

24/7/365. I’m a very outspoken woman. My Locker mates say I have no filter which is not always true but I do speak up for myself and against evil and bad behavior. The older I get the less b.s. I put up with. Most people especially men prefer women are quiet, docile and obedient well they won’t get that from me. Another plus of aging is that the older I get the less I care if others like me. I dump all toxic relationships even those that involve family members and as a result I don’t talk to half my family but then again who cares. As for preachers, politicians and pimps well more or less they are all in the same business which is to delude people and take their money. Sadly the church has fallen away from it’s social obligations and now prides itself on condemning people not like them.
