Meet Ronovan

Ron_LWI

I’m the co-author of the historical adventure Amber Wake: Gabriel Falling. Ambitious writer of more books than I’ll ever finish, with the hopes of finishing at least one more. I like to say I’m a writer of History and of Romance with a bit of crossover. But the truth is my ideas come fast and furious and span just about every genre you can think of.

I enjoy writing poetry, as is the focus of my blog in recent times. Usually the poetry is in Haiku form, but also free verse, Décima, a Spanish form that’s significant in Latin culture, and most recently Sijo, a Korean in origin syllable based form.

Fun fact about me is that I suffer from Retrograde Amnesia. That means that following a Grade 3 concussion back in 2013 I lost practically all memories up to that point. All with the exception of those of my son. They say the most important memories to an individual have the best chance of surviving. There you have it. The facts about me you might read at various times come from journals I’ve kept since high school. Even once read those facts come and go.

So I write. And that’s why I’m here. Discovering who I am by the words I share.

Where Else Am I?

I founded a site called Lit World Interviews where I provide mostly author interviews, author guest books and the occasional review by request. There were many of us writing for the site but most have gone to review on their own blogs or for other places. Practically all of them have were authors before or have become one since.

The Books That Shaped My Reading Mind

The written word has been part of my life for as long as I can remember and my influences have been varied throughout my stay here on earth:

In the beginning there were, the animal friends from Richard Scarry and a beautifully illustrated Grimm’s Fairy Tales book.

But then we all grow up and find books such as Walter Farley’s Black Stallion books and the mysteries of The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Bobbsey Twins, and even Trixie Belden. And I cannot leave out Tom Swift books you can’t really find in many libraries today.

Then school introduces you to, Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn and you discover Puddin’ Head Wilson and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. Being Southern you read Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind, yes I am still a man after reading it, and if you have a problem well . . . Frankly my dear . . . Tomorrow is another day. And on my own during my middle grades C.S. Lewis entered my world and Narnia came to my wardrobe.

And who could resist Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Tolkien, and Conan Doyle? Sherlock Holmes might know the answer to that mystery.

Then we enter the escapism from life with; Agatha Christie, Clive Cussler, Lilian Jackson Braun, and Jim Butcher. My apologies to Stephen King, I admire him but I like to sleep at night. And I cannot leave out the master works of John Gardner from his run with James Bond to his Secret Generations and Herbie Krueger offerings and Moriarty Trilogy. How he could bring history to life with words was simply amazing. Do not worry, I enjoyed the Harry Potter series and Hunger Games and I recommend Graceling by Kristin Cashore, but to get to the ‘me’ that began to write I mentioned the ones that came before.

  2. Hi Ron,

This is a bit short notice but Belsbor just did a Virtual Blog Tour and featured me as one of the bloggers, here is the link: http://belsbror.wordpress.com/2014/06/16/genuine-gems/comment-page-1/#comment-10738 for my turn I would very much like if you would agree to participate on being featured. If you do choose to participate you have to do the same thing as the post belsbor did so (as copied as pasted from his rules he sent me):
Mine will be posted on the 23rd. And on our VBT, we will have the honor to feature 3 outstanding blogger friends and include a brief description of their blog or short bio of the blogger (2-3 sentences). Then, answer the questions the best we can.
    1. What am I working on?
    2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
    3. Why do I write/create what I do?
    4. How does my writing/creating process work?
In our posts, we will have to mention the person who invited us. In my case, it is Imelda.
This is the schedule of the corresponding posts:
    mine – June 23
    yours – June 30
    your 3 friends’ – July 7th
their taggees’ – July 14th and so on
If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Let me know if you accept so I can feature you 🙂 Hope you do! -Kind Regards ~ Neha

  3. One of the best ‘About’ pages I’ve read. We share a lot of similarities, including the life insurance thing 🙂 I’m still calling myself a writer, as I’ve not authored anything but blog posts yet, but it is taking shape (or shape-shifting, not certain).

I’ll be a new follower – can’t wait to see where you go!

    • Thank you very much. I went my own way on the page, sort of against what they pros say to do, but I thought people should know what they were getting into when following me. 🙂 I am so sorry you had the insurance experience as well. 😦 🙂 I think a writer’s life is a shape-shifting life. I have no idea when I start typing what’s going to happen next.
Thank you for following. Much Appreciated. Really.

  4. And now you know why mine is so brief…I like to sneak up on folks 🙂

I ended up with people that told me their life problems over coffee and homemade muffins, but very little sales.

And now back to helping newbies! Take care, see you in the ‘comments’ (or funny papers)

    Ciao.

  5. […] Ronovanwrites: Ron is an author and a versatile blogger whom I have come to admire as someone who can connect with his audience at a personal level through the content of his posts. He is very informative and I encourage all bloggers (especially new ones) to visit his blogs for some great tips and links for writing, and to get some great encouragement. His writing is genuine, he states , “I want to share my world as I rediscover it after having lost part of it not long ago in a mind jarring way”, and though it is sad to learn that he had to go through that experience, I am glad we get to to see the world he shares through his blog, as it is indeed memorable.  […]

  6. How about Twilight? I didn’t see it listed anywhere. 🙂 Great About Me page. Any tips? I still seem to have trouble writing one, even after seven months of blogging. I know, I know…terrible right? 🙂

  7. I’ve decided to stop blogging on three of my four WordPress blogs here on wp.com (at least for the moment). Since you were subscribing to some of them, I thought you might like to check out my homepage instead. You can take a look at it here: http://umrion.net/crimson/. There’s a Swedish version too, if you’re interested. http://bokligt.umrion.net/. I also have some vegan homepages, but I’m guessing you won’t be interested in those.

I’ll still be blogging on VeganLynx here as well, and will of course still follow your blog.
