Directions of A Truly Concerned Literate Citizen

The storm skirts in from the far west,
the east to some, to some the same,
but no matter the gale, the name,
I huddle, wait for nature’s test.

In most things, I am a person blessed,
pleasure found in my cozy nook,
the odd glance, a slight probing look
at the gloomier side of life,
hardship, war, hunger, so much strife,
glad for the bliss of a good book.
