The World Watches – A poem.

The World Watches

Daily we are given contrast
of what is true and what is thought.
Fools run amok with lies they’ve bought,
leading to the flag at half-mast.

Thank the Lord the role’s been recast.
But the mad serpent still has fangs,
venom seeps into disturbed veins.
Infected minds storm hallowed halls,
seeking truth with traitorous calls.
Strife will never remove these stains.

The Final Countdown – A poem.

The Final Countdown

Unity lost to the loppers,
by bottomfeeding dunderheads.
Proof each family tree under-weds,
and brain cells… hippity hoppers.

For the greediest of goppers,
choose to put selfish gain forward.
They hope to feed the frenzied horde.
The two sides come to one last clash.
So they bing they bang and they bash,
and the tally… remains the same.

…THE WISE – A poem.

…THE WISE

They believe the Old are obsolete.
They burn bridges and widen rifts.
Not grasping with wisdom comes gifts,
and balance makes a base concrete.
Two can get twice done in one beat.
Walk the halls with something to add,
setting the futures launching pad.
But as the recent past tells us,
none listens enough to discuss.
Hope falls before a power-grab.

Democracy a Décima Poem.

My entry for this weeks Décima Poetry Challenge No.2 Hope. (A New Challenge here on ronovanwrites.com)

Democracy

He may be huge, but he has no hope,
in the upcoming election,
there’ll be a massive rejection.
Stinks so bad…he’ll need soap to cope.

Then…we will have no need to mope.
Finally, a country set free,
of frauds thinking just for TV.
From spiteful eyes with pundit ties,
and screeching highs of dabblers’ cries.
And in the end, might we agree?

Trumped.

Is it the end of the USA? After the recent Presidential election a lot of people were devastated with the results. I think if you base opinions on things said during the election period there would be some reason for concern. I for one am not worried. Why? Because I realize how campaigns are carried out in America and that Donald Trump is a salesman first. He knew how to play on what people most wanted to hear, mostly about jobs and ignored his idiotic rants. Were the rants the right things to say? No.

I’m hoping to see the person I’ve seen during one on one interviews as opposed to the campaign trail speeches where he veered away from his script and went off on a tangent. He’s not a great ad-libber. I’m also considering how politics works. Presidents get into office in America and not a whole lot actually happens. A few policies are worked on but over all not much really takes place and a great deal doesn’t change, especially when it comes to relations with other nations.

In addition, I’m hoping Trump’s ego keeps him focused. He will want to end up with a presidency better than Obama’s. So I hope he puts the right people in the real Cabinet positions that do things. So far all he’s chosen are advisory people, not actual Cabinet Secretaries. There is hope. Or so I hope.

My friends around the world don’t need to worry. My friends within the US don’t need to worry. Donald Trump has been a Democrat his whole life until recently. Not sure why he changed other than in reaction to how Obama made fun of him at a White House Press Diner a few years ago. Maybe he decided at that point to show the President and everyone there that he would have the last laugh.

As a Christian I am praying that common sense rules and I know that no matter what that God has control of my life and my ultimate reward. I’m here only for a brief moment in time as a visitor.

Again to my friends, don’t fear Trump or take seriously his rants he went off on during the campaign, they were just that, rants. Some of you won’t like what I’ve said, but I’ve been pretty quiet about all of this and everything else. Donald Trump wasn’t my choice for President. My choice wasn’t on the ballot. I put up with Obama for 8 years, I guess I can put up with Trump for the next 4.

If you’re still reading, note the great use of hope and pray in this post. That’s all we can ever do with anyone elected to anything.

Voting the RIGHT way.

Well, here we are in the United States looking at a Presidential election, once again, of who is the lesser evil. There is never that perfect candidate for any public office. If someone came along that fit exactly what I was looking for, I would question their honesty.

I imagine most people who have read my blog long enough know I am conservative. I put that as a lower case ‘c’ because I am very close to the line in many ways. No one party has all the right answers just as no one party has all the wrong ones. I believe people have a lot of rights and choices to make and I also believe for a great many of those choices the government should not be involved in nor should ever have been involved in.

I think candidates would be surprised at the support they would receive if they said exactly what they believed. I have voted by party in the past few elections because no one jumped out as a candidate I could get behind. The only one I’ve really liked always ends up having to drop out.

When faced with an election of voting for the lesser of evils . . . what do you do? Do you vote for an evil? Some may think my using the word evil is a bit strong, but if you sit down and look at what is good and what is bad, oops, some don’t like the word ‘bad’ either. There are bad things in the world. People do bad things. In a society in which certain things are taught as good or bad and the person chooses the bad, then they are doing bad.

By voting for the bad/evil, you are saying it’s okay to have an evil rule over you. People use the argument that they would rather have the more honest of the evils.

10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own? (Luke 16)

Trump or Clinton, who will it be? Neither is a good fit. Both have major problems. Some wonder how Trump is doing so well. It’s because he is being blunt and saying what so many people think. Of course he then says what a lot of people don’t think as well. If anyone needs a teleprompter, it’s Trump. The citizens if the United States are tired of politicians who do nothing and go by party politics. That’s where Trump is succeeding. He is not a politician and he is making sense.

I am not a Trump guy. That makes the coming election very difficult for me. I am not a Trump guy and definitely not a Clinton guy. Do I vote for the lesser of evils or do a write in?

16 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. (Proverbs 6)

Some say writing in a candidate is throwing away your vote. I say by voting for exactly the best fit in all your categories, you are voting as you should. I didn’t vote for Trump in the primaries. He is not the person I selected to be my candidate for President. I did not for the electors of my state, thus, they do not represent my vote when they go to the convention to select the Republican candidate.

One thing that is influencing my vote is the number of celebrities that say if Trump becomes President they will leave the United States. Now there is a reason to vote Trump. I have a lot of thinking to do.
