RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind #14

REWIND #14ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014

The prompt words were:

Take Your Potential,

To Unexpected Results,

The Shine is Tarnished.

Shine & Potential. Sian chose great words for the week’s challenge. Sorry guys, but #15 Prompts are all on me.  What people did were inspiring, thought provoking and in some cases nailed me on the head.

Some people don’t realize what you can do with three lines, the story you can tell, the message you can relay. Once they try it and see what they can do, the end up loving it. I encourage everyone to give the next one a try. Funny or serious, there is no wrong interpretation.

One thing I want to mention; Go and check out the Haiku for each person. Some of these poets have been here every week, and some have really stepped out of a comfort zone to find they have talent for Haiku and enjoy it.

My Picks This Week

Wendy Anne Darling with her Haiku: Glow

Colleen with her Haiku: Beauty Within

Elizabeth with her Haiku: Shine Shine Little One

Becca with her Haiku: Divine Love

K.S. Fause with her Haiku: Rise and Shine

Hugh with his Haiku: Past the Faces

Our New participants this week.

Let’s start the week off with our first time participants in order Haiku was submitted:

TakeshiS.J. Takeshi

Takeshi’s Flight

Haiku: Counter Ev’ry Gloom

A very good message and it was nice to see some of our regulars visit and not only comment but ‘like’ the Haiku. We hope Takeshi joins us with #15.

REWIND #13

The prompt words were Spirit & Flight.

Provided by Me this week, but Sian has awesome ones for #14.

 Badge provided by DazzlingWhimsy.

This week people were mostly reflective it seemed. Some of course did take the fun of the words, as I was hoping they would. It is the month of Halloween here in the U.S. of A. and I thought perhaps people might go for the spook factor.

My Picks This Week

Tale of two Tales: KiwiBee with “Mere Mortals” did well using the middle line to create the two sentences of some contradiction.

Humorous Haiku: I think I will go with Ruth’s “Frequent Flyer” with an honorable mention for Elizabeth’s comment on it. I also found Florence T’s “Earthly Pleasures” fun.

Hitting Home/Heart Haiku: Angie with “A Great Man”. K.S. Fause with “Restless Spirit”.

Good Harmony of Image and Haiku: Ellie with “Ready to Flee”. KiwiBee with “Mere Mortals”.

From the Humorous to the Creepy, we had a bit of it all this week. You just never know how people will be inspired by certain words.

This week I thought I might begin to do a few categories of:

My Picks This Week

I’ve been avoiding it as I enjoy everyone’s Haiku. But sometimes a few just connect with me for an aha moment. And I decided why not? I just hate for people to think I don’t like their Haiku simply because another might have connected just a touch more for a given week.

Tale of two Tales: Battered Wife Seeking Better Life-She wrote one that really does the idea of the flip side of one idea of Haiku perfectly.

Humorous Haiku: Oh, this one has to be a tie this week. AC Elliot with his 4 offerings and then Elke with her Red Squirrels and Gnomes. Both made me laugh.

Hitting Home/Heart Haiku: Haiku has a way of cutting through the hot air of some of us and getting right to the point. Cyril Bussiere did that quite well for me this week. Then Becca wrote one that brought a memory back to me.

Surprising what people came up with. I really had no idea what to expect from this prompt.

It was only fair that Sian the Prompt Girl did a Haiku this week. I asked for uplifting words because my own had been so dark lately. So she gives an evil grin and says Fluffy and Rainbow. There was no changing her mind.
