Ronovan Write’s #15 Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind Promise& Gift

Here with the 15th Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind, Recap, Round up . . . oh ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014whatever you like to call it. It’s going to be a bit free flowing today to get things out to you. I love all the participation these prompts bring. I was told not to be so effusive with my excitement when I write about things, but I’ve decided that’s what is me and that’s what I will do. So let’s get his party started.

The prompt words were Promise & Gift.  Both provided by yours truly. I being truly.

NEW To Us This Week!

Steven_S_WalskySteven S. Walsky-Author whose blog is Simplicity Lane. “For Only Him“is what I am calling this one. You will find a few challenges on the page, interesting I thought. But the Haiku is there. I was most interested in the twenty word story. Not only check out the Haiku but also the books he has available. Should I dare say one mentions the word FREE? Oops, I see another one! Hope he doesn’t mind my pointing them out. And like I say on my LitWorldInterview site . . . Read a Book, Write a Review.

In order of appearance:

AC_ElliottA.C. Elliott of File Cabinet Ramblings must have some of the quickest synapses in the east or west depending on where you are sitting right now. He gave us His Abundant Gift. The words beautiful, peaceful and lovely were repeated throughout the comments. @elliott_ac

Colleen of Silver Threading is up next with The Agreement. All around one of the most solidlyColleen_Silver_Threading structured Haiku I have come across. She did the making two sentences with the middle line being the end of one and the beginning of the other and she even slipped in a touch of seasonal imagery. Plus the Haiku itself was entertaining and her words were very nicely chosen. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @ColleenChesebro

Meredith and Martha of Meredith’s Musings, My Literary Angels provided MeredithsMusings2X2 again this week. I chose Thoughts of Love for the title of their offerings as each one dealt with the subject. Someone even suggested the two should think about putting their efforts in a book. They range from humorous to serious. I never know what I’m going to come across from one week to the next. @meredithlbl

Ruth of Mad Meandering Me brought two Haiku this week, Embryo and RuthUnborn. I have to say that I enjoyed and did not enjoy her subject at the same time. One was an aw moment, and the other was a moment of I really don’t know how to explain it. I think that’s why I will say I enjoyed them both in that they brought out those conflicting emotions in me. It wasn’t where I had thought the words would lead anyone but I like to see how minds work.

Cyril Bussiere gave us what I titled “Foolish Thought“. Cyril’s ofcyrilferings always make my head hurt because they make me think. This week didn’t fail in that area. I’m not certain if he delves deep to find his words or if he just lets them flow. If not delving, I would be frightened how bad head would feel if he did. @cyrilbussiere

T.A. Wyatt of Finale to an Entrance gave us Halloween. I like that, straight TAforward. Go and see it. It is most definitely Halloween centered. Does that frighten you? Would it help if I said Elizabeth called it a “cutie”?

Also, Wanderer: A Mistake Haiku. This one is A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! This is one to check out for certain. @FinaletoEntranc

Kimberly of K.S. Fause gave us Eloquence. Is anyone surprised that she ksfausewould give us something titled that? But did she deliver? You have to go see to find out, but I will give you a hint. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @ksfause

Carolyn of Reviews and Recommendations nailed the Haiku structure Carolyn_Injoyamazingly with I Promise You This. I really liked this one a lot. Lovers, read this one. Those who want to be lovers, read this one. Those who failed as lovers, read this one. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

Elizabeth of Tea & Paper brought us what I call “Vanishing Gifts“. A Elizabethenjoyed the Haiku and I love the colors of her blog this week. So festive and cheerful. Much like what I think of her when I see her commenting on people’s Haiku.

Wendy of Wendy Anne Darling certainly delivered a message withWendy_Anne_Darling Indian Giver. I would so not want to be on the receiving end of that nor do I understand who would ever be that insane with her. I imagine this must be simply a work of fiction. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! I loved the attitude! @AuthorWDarling

Becca of On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea came up with Thousand BeccaDrops of Blood. Becca gave the two sentence structure and the opposing meaning that is key to a true Haiku.  A great meaning in this one and tells a beginning of a story and the end of a story. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @rgbickerstaff

Canaf of Faithful Devotions shared Grace this week. A great message, ofCanaf course. Grace is always a great message. Check out exactly what the message is.

Hugh of Hugh’s Views & News gave his seasonal offering of “Bearing Gifts“. Hugh LoadedNotice the spelling. We do keep things PG here. But with Hugh I do have to be careful when I click at times. Never know what might pop up. @RobertHughes05

Angie of Angie Does Until She Doesn’t, don’t you just love that blog name? AngieOkay this week she gives us what I titled “Today is Your Gift!” I shouted because I think sometimes we don’t hear it when we remind ourselves of that message. Go give Angie a Virtual Hug with a Like today as she did some serious overcoming at work this week. Show her how proud we are! A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!, and not for the overcoming but the reminder in the Haiku. @mrsreadmorbooks

Kate of Dazzling Whimsy gives her what I call “Gifts of Devotion“.  Kate only Kate2 - Copyknows one way to write and that is with her heart. It doesn’t matter if it’s about a recipe or a poem, she’ll write it with heart. @17katelee

Claudette of to search and find happiness in everything returns to us this week Claudettewith what I call “Dubious Entanglement“. There is humor here but also seriousness. I suppose it depends on which side of the entanglement you are on.

Florence of Rambling On brings what I have named “Denied Honor“. That Florence Tmight not fit exactly but thought about this for a time and thoughts swirled around in this addled mind of mine.  A sad Haiku but then again when you read it from a positive side it is not so sad, and then it is both sad and not sad. I am totally confused now so I will stop. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @FTThum

Battered Wife Seeking Better Life wrote my named “Resonating“. The batteredwifeseekingbetterlifereason for the name is partly that the message of the Haiku resonates with you as you look at it’s meaning and word choices. I always look at the words people use in their Haiku because I think those words as opposed to a different word of similar meaning says a lot. @bwseekingbl

What a selection this week. From one end of the spectrum to the other. I think this might have been our most varied take on prompts yet. Kind of puts the pressure on to choose some good ones for #16. I have to put my thinking blanket on for this one.

Thank y’all for participating.

Much Respect

Ronovan

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku Prompt Challenge #15 Promise & Gift

ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014

Badge provided by Me for this time of the year or so.

Welcome to Haiku prompt challenge . . .

#15

(Remember, the Wordless Haiku Challenge with Pictures come out at Noon New York Time.)

I use Haiku in English myself so if you want a refresher on how to do that just click here. But you can use whatever Haiku style you want to. As long as you, do a Haiku.

For Tips and Guidelines refreshers click here.

This weeks two words to use in some form, meaning you can use another word that means the same thing are:

 Before you start!

I have links that will help you out. Remember for Haiku in English the total syllables are 5 for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the last. I don’t really hold people to that for this but if you want to do it in the 5/7/5 manner, the traditional way, then try that. One link I have for you is . . . howmanysyllables.com. Simply type in the word and find out how many syllables it has. Also for synonyms and antonyms go to thesaurus.com, I find it useful for finding a word to fit the meaning when syllables are not working out right.

The prompts!

Promise & Gift

These are all My words this week. How Dare sian have a life.

My Example

With a guarantee,

Hugh went to the Apple store,

To receive his gift.

DEADLINE: Noon on Sunday New York Time.

(I hate doing deadlines, but it takes quite a while to complete the rewind.)

You may have noticed I am choosing some category standouts now. I have not run across a Haiku I don’t like yet. There are some that hit me in the moment and stand out.

Much respect

RonovanWrites Weekly Wordless Haiku Challenge #15 Green & Red

Wordless Haiku ChallengeI first want to thank DazzlingWhimsy for creating this badge for the challenge.

#15

The rules are simple: For how to write a Haiku in English and using the 5/7/5 syllable pattern click here.

No words or numbers of any kind can appear in the images you use. This includes sign language . . . of any kind.

You can use just pictures and not put them in the format I have them here. I was being creative. The point of this is to have fun.

Moon Shadow of a Woman Tango DancersHeartbeat Stumbling Sign Man Falling Men Going in a BuildingHands in Shape of Heart Two arms with infinity tattoos

This is an example of one I created.

The Haiku was:

Moon Shadow Dancers

Heartbeats Stumble, falling in

Love Infinity

I know, not the best but it was better then the first one I posted.

Here’s the challenge; You created your own wordless Haiku for Wednesday or any day really, then either post a link in the comments here for everyone that visits to go see and/or ping back (or copy the URL for this post into your Haiku post) to this post in your Haiku post.

I will read it and comment on it. Once I comment come get the badge.

If some of you would like a theme to prompt you what to begin thinking of you can perhaps use. . .

Green & Red

What do the words mean to you, and how can you connect the two words through that second line? You do not have to do the prompt, it is just a prompt to make you start thinking of things.

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind #14

REWIND #14ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014

The prompt words were:

Take Your Potential,

To Unexpected Results,

The Shine is Tarnished.

Shine & Potential. Sian chose great words for the week’s challenge. Sorry guys, but #15 Prompts are all on me.  What people did were inspiring, thought provoking and in some cases nailed me on the head.

Some people don’t realize what you can do with three lines, the story you can tell, the message you can relay. Once they try it and see what they can do, the end up loving it. I encourage everyone to give the next one a try. Funny or serious, there is no wrong interpretation.

One thing I want to mention; Go and check out the Haiku for each person. Some of these poets have been here every week, and some have really stepped out of a comfort zone to find they have talent for Haiku and enjoy it.

My Picks This Week

Wendy Anne Darling with her Haiku: Glow

Colleen with her Haiku: Beauty Within

Elizabeth with her Haiku: Shine Shine Little One

Becca with her Haiku: Divine Love

K.S. Fause with her Haiku: Rise and Shine

Hugh with his Haiku: Past the Faces

Our New participants this week.

Let’s start the week off with our first time participants in order Haiku was submitted:

TakeshiS.J. Takeshi

Takeshi’s Flight

Haiku: Counter Ev’ry Gloom

A very good message and it was nice to see some of our regulars visit and not only comment but ‘like’ the Haiku. We hope Takeshi joins us with #15.

If you are not following this blog, I dare say you may be missing out on some potentially amazing things. Just click and find out all about him. IMPRESSIVE!

RW Weekly Haiku Challenge

REWIND #13

The prompt words were Spirit & Flight.

Provided by Me this week, but Sian has awesome ones for #14.

 Badge provided by DazzlingWhimsy.

This week people were mostly reflective it seemed. Some of course did take the fun of the words, as I was hoping they would. It is the month of Halloween here in the U.S. of A. and I thought perhaps people might go for the spook factor.

My Picks This Week

Tale of two Tales: KiwiBee with “Mere Mortals” did well using the middle line to create the two sentences of some contradiction.

Humorous Haiku: I think I will go with Ruth’s “Frequent Flyer” with an honorable mention for Elizabeth’s comment on it. I also found Florence T’s “Earthly Pleasures” fun.

Hitting Home/Heart Haiku: Angie with “A Great Man”. K.S. Fause with “Restless Spirit”.

Good Harmony of Image and Haiku: Ellie with “Ready to Flee”. KiwiBee with “Mere Mortals”.

Look For A New Badge When #14 Comes Out

Let’s start the week off with our first time participants in order Haiku was submitted:

Otis and the Cow (My Week 13 Haiku Prompt Challenge Haiku)

For this weeks Haiku Prompt Challenge the words were Spirit & Flight. My example was:

Otis flees with cow,

Full of spirits for the night,

He is put to bed.

Underneath my example I asked if anyone could guess what inspired the Haiku. As no one has answered I decided to go ahead and share the Haiku today with the answer.

Otis and the CowThis is the Episode 18 of Season 5 from 1965 of The Andy Griffith Show. Otis is the town drunk who shows up riding a cow. Otis normally only gets drunk one night a week and then shows up at the jail to sleep it off. This time Barney, the deputy decides to rehabilitate Otis and offends Otis.

Why did this come to mind when I saw Spirit & Flight? Well I decided to go with some fun and Spirits is another name for liquor and that led me to Otis and the cow was just funny.

And here it is without the words. The red is used in such a way above because if you notice the black and whites of the photo overlapped so much it was almost impossible to find a good color to use.

Welcome to this weeks Haiku prompt challenge.

(Not the Wordless with Pictures. That one is out at 12:00 Noon New York Time.)

If you want to refresh yourselves on a bit of Haiku in English, although you do not have to stick to that particular style of Haiku, it’s just my particular style to use, click here.

For Tips and Guidelines refreshers click here.

This weeks two words to use in some form, meaning you can use another word that means the same thing are:

 Before you start!

I have a link that will help you out. Remember for Haiku in English the total syllables are 5 for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the last. This the Haiku I use. I don’t really hold people to that for this but if you want to do it in the 5/7/5 manner, the traditional way, then try that. The link I have for you is . . . howmanysyllables.com. Simply type in the word and find out how many syllables it has. Also for synonyms and antonyms go to thesaurus.com, I find it useful for finding a word to fit the meaning when syllables are not working out right.

The prompts!

Spirit & Flight

Sian is busy this week, so you have to suffer words all of my own.

My Example

Otis flees with cow,

Full of spirits for the night,

He is put to bed.

Can you guess what inspired this Haiku? If so, leave a comment.

DEADLINE: Noon on Sunday New York Time.

(I hate doing deadlines, but it takes quite a while to complete the rewind.)

I’ll comment and also choose the ones that knock me down for one reason or the other and link back to them in my Weekly Rewind telling people how great they were and why I picked them. Eventually these will turn into categories.

Much respect

From the Humorous to the Creepy, we had a bit of it all this week. You just never know how people will be inspired by certain words.

This week I thought I might begin to do a few categories of:

My Picks This Week

I’ve been avoiding it as I enjoy everyone’s Haiku. But sometimes a few just connect with me for an aha moment. And I decided why not? I just hate for people to think I don’t like their Haiku simply because another might have connected just a touch more for a given week.

Tale of two Tales: Battered Wife Seeking Better Life-She wrote one that really does the idea of the flip side of one idea of Haiku perfectly.

Humorous Haiku: Oh, this one has to be a tie this week. AC Elliot with his 4 offerings and then Elke with her Red Squirrels and Gnomes. Both made me laugh.

Hitting Home/Heart Haiku: Haiku has a way of cutting through the hot air of some of us and getting right to the point. Cyril Bussiere did that quite well for me this week. Then Becca wrote one that brought a memory back to me.

Ronovan Writes Weekly Wordless Haiku Challenge #12

Wordless Haiku ChallengeI first want to thank DazzlingWhimsy for creating this badge for the challenge.

If some of you would like a theme to prompt you what to begin thinking of you can perhaps use. . .

Grace & Chaos

What do the words mean to you, and how can you connect the two words through that second line? You do not have to do the prompt, it is just a prompt to make you start thinking of things.
