RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge #24 Innocence&Life

The 24th Haiku Prompt Challenge!

Badge provided by Me for this season.

Haiku Prompt Challenge Badge Winter

Haiku is simple and simply addictive. So be warned now. Once you start it’s difficult to stop. Here are two things to know:

  1. Haiku can be broken into two sentences with the middle line of the three lines being the commonly used part, meaning 1&2 and 2&3 making sentences
  2. Opposite meanings in the first and last sentences.

For a full refresher or How to write Haiku in English click here. But you can use whatever Haiku style you want to. As long as you, do a Haiku.

For Tips and Guidelines refreshers click here.

If you have a Twitter and your handle has not appeared in a ReCap of a previous challenge, please let me know what it is so when I Tweet the ReCap on Sundays I may include it.

This weeks two words to use in some form, meaning you can use another word that means the same thing are:

Innocence&Life

My Example

Time For Innocence,

This Season we are now in,

Gives our Life Meaning.

DEADLINE: Noon on Sunday New York Time.

(I hate doing deadlines, but it takes quite a while to complete the ReCap.)

There are TWO “A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!” recipients each week. One for Humor and one for something more Serious. The Haiku are quite good each week and I am having to turn to the structure guidelines of a Haiku at times to help determine my selection.

Really each Haiku is a choice of mine, and I’m not just saying that, so I feel a bit odd even having something called A RONOVAN’S CHOICE, but hey, it’s a thing, right? And it does make it kind of fun.

RonovanWrites 23 #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge ReCap

Haiku Prompt Challenge Badge Winter

23rd Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge ReCap!

Just a reminder, all you had to do to get into the ReCap was write a Haiku and somehow let me know, either with a copy of your link in the comments or a ping back.

The prompt words were Breathe & Night.

Another reminder is to follow the members of our little community here on their sites and Twitter. Show and share the love, right? Are you following our friends here? I include links to their sites and Twitters if they have them.

new haiku challenge badges

Moving Forward there will be Two  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Haiku recipients each week. One for Humor and one for more Serious. It was brought to my attention that perhaps if I were giving it to everyone then why even bother. And in truth for those of you who remember I used to choose category recipients early on I suppose this makes sense. Proper structure may become a big decider at times. By structure I mean the 1&2 and 2&3 verses making sentences. But the message, as you all know is always what is more important to me in this challenge. The problem? There are so many great messages that I have to use something. So now, my job just got more difficult. Let the games begin. May your days be long but your poems be short.

 Two New this Week!

January’s Dreamer: When Christmas Comes. Nice Haiku with a great image to go with the words. Excellent. From the site About PageUntil that Day of resurrection when Christ Jesus returns,¹ a Christian is called to be as “a letter from Christ . . . written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”²

Like this site, I’m a work-in-progress, but by God’s grace, He’s still editing.

Crisisalive: Crisis. Great structure, message and atmosphere/imagery. From her About Page
I am a mother of 3 who is having a bit of a crisis in my life with my emotions…thought that I would work though some of my awkwardness here and hopefully have a moment of epiphany. I love to take photos, although I am not a pro, I do feel that they help me in ways I cannot describe.
My family just gave me my first “Real” camera which I must say, aside from my family, is the best gift I have ever received! Bear with me as I learn how to use it and hopefully capture whatever it is that I am searching for. It looks like it’s going to be a fun, enlightening experience! I welcome all of you to jump on for the ride and please share your thoughts and constructive criticism to help me on my journey!

The Stop Watch Award goes to . . . A NEW WINNER!

t_a_wyatt_author

Ruth

Ruth of Mad Meandering Me: Fire and Ice. I thought of this one as a bit of humor. Liked a reference that made one thing of England for certain and gave imagery of all sorts of scenarios.

ksfause

Kimberly of K.S. Fause: Wink. Bit of a teasing title there. Thought we were getting a little flirtatious moment from Kimberly but alas I am sorry dear friends out there. You will have to continue to suffer. The winks are playful and flirtatious, just not from Kimberly. @KSFause

Carolyn_Injoy

Carolyn of Reviews & Recommendations: CAughT unware. On my LWI site I put out a three things I would buy for Christmas as an Author. On JensPenDen I put out  5 Free things for Authors for Christmas. Carolyn just gave me an idea for another one for the wish list for Authors.

MeredithsMusings

Claudette

Claudette of to search and find happiness in every day: Filter. Very good message. I am still surprised where the ideas take people with the prompts. I always think it is telling of the type of soul a person has.

Florence 2

Florence of Rambling On: Lonely Nights. Ice water alert and hanky alert. Yeah, hot and sad at the same time. @FTThum

cyril

Cyril Bussiere: Safe. One might wonder where the name I chose came from. I think once you read the Haiku you will get it. I could have chosen other words but I think this captures it. Remember to check out this author’s books here at Amazon. @CyrilBussiere

Nato of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Completely Yours. Nato is trying to take care of the snow all over the northern hemisphere. @MichelleLunato

Steven WalSteven_S_Walskysky of Simplicity Lane: Pause for a TwinkleA great fun one. I found it amusing and refreshing in it’s originality. Remember to check out his books on Barnes & Noble by clicking here and Smashwords here.

marigold

A very good peaceful Haiku. One I wish actually happened for me.

Melissa

Melissa of This, Right Now: Breathe. Another one I could take and use but  alas can’t seem to grasp.

ElizabethElizabeth of Tea & Paper: Finding Yourself. She has returned and brought a line of thought. Attempting to put a meaning for me to that last line. I see a direct one but you all know me, I like to complicate thinks. Maybe I just need to breathe.

Colleen_Silver_Threading

Colleen of Silver Threading: Romeo &Juliet. The name says it all. Well, maybe not all, you still need to go read to see exactly what it’s all about. I mean it’s not like the whole play is about a tragic death scene, right?  @ColleenChesebro

Carolyn_Injoy

Carolyn of Reviews & Recommendations: I belong home?. Two Haiku I gave a combined one name. A unifying message I think.

t_a_wyatt_author

T.A. Wyatt of Finale to an Entrance: Into the Void. Okay, my mind is tripping over this one. I so get it yet I am still like wrapping the brain around it. Remember to check out this author’s books at Amazon. @finaletoanEntranc

faithunlockedFaith Unlocked: The Long and Short of it. Surprisingly straightforward use of the prompts. Excellent in all aspects. @FaithUnlocked

Ruth

Ruth of Mad Meandering Me: Lost Soul. Very nice Haiku. A great message and structure. I am not sure why she wrote a Haiku about me, but still I can appreciate good work.

ksfause

Kimberly of K.S. Fause: Spirit. No surprise of a good offering with a very nice image. I could identify with this one. Good message. @KSFause

Becca

Becca of On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea: Kittens Belong. A very true story shared by our Becca. @rgbickerstaff

Florence 2

Florence of Rambling On: Searching. Yep, Florence gave one of those almost philosophicthal sounding Haiku. I get it, but will understand it in a few days. @FTThum

Steven WalSteven_S_Walskysky of Simplicity Lane: The Song. A very good thought of how to live life. One only Steve could come up with, or so I have noticed. Remember to check out his books on Barnes & Noble by clicking here and Smashwords here.

Colleen_Silver_Threading

Colleen of Silver Threading: Fairy Magic. Colleen wrote what at first appears something obvious but then you break it down into the 1&2 and 2&3 structure and it hits you in the face. My mouth dropped open at it because of the contrast.  @ColleenChesebro

KiwiBee2

KiwiBee of Snap Thoughts: Young Love, Free Rein and New Paths Yes, three Haiku this week. Love is in the air. But does it stay or does it go? Go and read, and you may know.

marigold

Marigold of Versus Bulb: Arms Wide Open
I think we all wish we could do this but for some of us ignorance is bliss. See so many would rather live wrong, than to ever find out where they truly belong.

Melissa

Melissa of This, Right Now: Mother to Child. Kind of a sad one but a must really. The photo in part made me almost cry thinking about it.

Elke

Elke of writingindevizes: Christmastime.  Okay, funny. After the first photo I just knew what was going to be next, I just knew it. Was I right? Go find out and hold your tree tight? Or maybe the cat might.

michelle_lunato_photographer.jpgMake sure to check this one out as the pingback went to a different blogger’s blog.

Michelle (Nato) of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Lover’s Passion. All I can say is in the words of Hugh  when he comes across a Haiku like this “Where is the bucket of ice water.” @MichelleLunato

MeredithsMusingsGo see! The pingback didn’t work this week for Meredith. WordPress has been doing a lot of revamping this week, as you may have noticed and I fear somethings have gone amiss. I went hunting just in case and I found HAIKU!

Meredith and Martha of Meredith’s Musings: Two each from the two Literary Angels this week. Great ones this week with seasons and pets. @Meredithlbl

New this WEEK!

Melissa

Melissa of This, Right Now: From her about page: I find I need to write to determine what there is to say. Once written, an outline forms and then from within, the thesis emerges. Am I broken that my mind works in reverse? Bitter Pill. Whoa, talk about a serious intro into the challenge. Nice! (And no, she did that to the picture, not me.)

The Stop Watch Award goes to . . .A NEW WINNER!

t_a_wyatt_author

T.A. Wyatt of Finale to an Entrance: Blood Feud: A Revenge Haiku. Quick and threw down the gauntlet early. A Haiku speaking to so many possible aspects of society that it boggles the mind. Remember to check out this author’s books at Amazon. @finaletoanEntranc

MeredithsMusings

Meredith and Martha of Meredith’s Musings: We missed them during the holidays and I hated taking their name of the list. But they’re back with FIVE Haiku this week. Meredith brought us My Choice and Battle while Martha tried to make up for time missed with three this week; Seeking Peace, Living Well and Forgiveness. @meredithlbl

Ruth

Ruth of Mad Meandering Me: Hot Head. Very nice Haiku. A great message and structure. I am not sure why she wrote a Haiku about me, but still I can appreciate good work.

Kate2 - Copy

Kate of Dazzling Whimsy: Worthy.  Kate always has a great message. Speaks from the heart and doesn’t throw words out and see where they fall. (Don’t judge me!) @17KateLee

michelle_lunato_photographer.jpg

Michelle (Nato) of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Sweet View of Revenge. Whoa, humor or serious or serious humor. I so get the image of an ex being spoken of or like some seriously not nice person at least. Talk about message received. Dude.  MichelleLuantoPhotography. @MichelleLunato

Carolyn_Injoy

Carolyn of Reviews & Recommendations: Revenge Needed. I am not sure what she saw but I don’t want to be the one she saw it about. That’s all I’m saying.

Claudette

Claudette of to search and to find happiness in every day: View of Revenge. Okay, she got me. Here I thought needing sunglasses we were going to get to see a picture of her smiling or something. But nooooo.  And guess what? She has a second blog that joined in this week. If You’re Looking for Answers: Revenge. This one took me a couple or three reads to grasp it. I will claim it being 11 PM, a long day, and me just living in the life I do. Very much worth the while to take a gander at and let the brain cells mingle.

mira

Mira of To Wear A Rainbow: My Revenge. I find this one humorous in many ways. I get the message, but unless you have visited her blog or at least have visited her Twitter you will truly get the humor. Loved it.

Colleen_Silver_Threading

Colleen of Silver Threading: Leaf Bare Trees. Definite structure and humor here. At least it’s humor to me, although it is also real. I almost changed the title to Bare Naked, just to see Colleen blush but I like her too much. Apparently Hugh had some similar ideas when he was around 20. I am not sure what to make of his comments. A bare Hugh?  @ColleenChesebro

KiwiBee2

KiwiBee of Snap Thoughts: Seek to Change. Nice to have KiwiBee back in the fold again. Such a busy life. And she comes back in with a great Haiku. Of course, right?

marigold

Marigold of Versus Bulb: Are You Happy Now?
You know sometimes you really like a Haiku and you hate that you like it because the message just seems saw raw and painful. I may be reading it wrong or maybe I am reading it right for me.

Florence 2

Florence of Rambling On: Perspective. Sometimes I just don’t know. You know with any given life words take on meanings. But you never know for certain and you sometimes hope what you think you think isn’t what you should be thinking because then the thoughts would be not very good things to be thinking about, especially if you are thinking wrong and being thoughtless. @FTThum

 Angie

Angie of Angie Does Until She Doesn’t: Oh No You Di’nt. Okay, so that’s the name I came up for it. But you’ll see what I mean when you get there. @mrsreadmorbooks

Canaf

Canaf of Faithful Homesteader: Do Good. A good message. No doubt. I just noticed I said a good message about a Haiku titled Do Good. Wow. It’s just after midnight for me. I may have to stop soon.

cyril

Cyril of Cyril Bussiere: Oops. Urrr, umm, dude I so am not gonna even. You so wrong for that, man. Also check out Cyril’s Books on Amazon@CyrilBussiere

batteredwifeseekingbetterlife

BatteredWifeSeekingBetterLife: For My Beautiful Cousin. What do you say about some Haiku you read? You know I read this one and had one immediate thought and then a different one. You all know me, I can’t just have one thought about anything. I’ll say this but I want you all to go read, when broken down into two sentences as a Haiku should be, meaning lines 1&2 and then 2&3, this is actually a very positive outlook of a Haiku. Very impressive. This last minute entry makes for a much more difficult decision. @BWseekingBL

faithunlockedFaith Unlocked: Grace’s POV. The perfect POV to have in all things. One needs to keep many things in mind in all situations. Make certain to read this one and keep it handy. Print it and put it in your cubicle. @FaithUnlocked

A RONOVAN’S CHOICE FOR HUMOR

A RONOVAN’S CHOICE FOR SERIOUS

Two Haiku had similar messages but when it came down to it there was just something about  my interpretation of the two sentences formed by the Haiku For My Beautiful Cousin from Battered Wife seeking Better Life that hit me in many ways. A very powerful Haiku in my opinion.

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge #21 View&Revenge

The 20th Haiku Prompt Challenge!

Badge provided by Me for this season.

haiku_prompt_badge_late_fall_2014

For a refresher or how to write Haiku in English click here. But you can use whatever Haiku style you want to. As long as you, do a Haiku.

For Tips and Guidelines refreshers click here.

Something to keep in mind about a Haiku. Usually it is elemental in nature, but I don’t stick to that. There are two things I do like to see and they are; 1) Haiku that can be broken into two sentences with the middle line of the three lines being the commonly used part and 2) Opposite meanings in the first and last sentences.

Before you start!

I have links that will help you out. Remember for Haiku in English the total syllables are 5 for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the last. I don’t really hold people to that for this but if you want to do it in the 5/7/5 manner, the traditional way, then try that. One link I have for you is . . . howmanysyllables.com. Simply type in the word and find out how many syllables it has. Also for synonyms and antonyms go to thesaurus.com, I find it useful for finding a word to fit the meaning when syllables are not working out right.

This weeks two words to use in some form, meaning you can use another word that means the same thing are:

View & Revenge

My Example

I TEAR AT MY CHEST,

FOR REVENGE AGAINST DEATH’S HEART,

I VIEW HER NO MORE.

Do you have a Twitter Handle? Do I know it? Let me know!

DEADLINE: Noon on Sunday New York Time.

(I hate doing deadlines, but it takes quite a while to complete the rewind.)

There are now things called “A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!” which simply means a Haiku that either touched me or was a stand out Haiku in structure and meaning. Really each Haiku is a choice of mine so I feel a bit odd even having something called A RONOVAN’S CHOICE, but hey, it’s a thing, right?

You might notice the new badge I created for A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Haiku recipients. For those selected they can add this to their Haiku post if they like. It’s entirely up to them but I saw someone had created something to let people know they had received that selection and thought I should at least put forth the effort. I just never thought anyone would think that much of it.

New this WEEK!

Mira of They, You and Me: From her about page: “While writing my miraposts on toweararainbow.wordpress.com I realized that I had more to share. Life never ceases to amaze me, amuse me and play games with me. I think that all of us go through a lot in life  and when we go through it together it becomes easy to traverse the unknown paths. Lets join hands and minds to strive to inspire each other to love a happy life.” Love Hunt. A very sorrowful tone set and a message I think we can each relate to at some point in our lives.

patty

Patty of I Am Not Sick Boy: From her about ronovans_choicepage:  I am a Physician Assistant with many years of medical experience in my background. But, nothing could have prepared me for the confusion and frustration that was ahead for me when my youngest child, Alex, was born with varied chronic problems. It is my intention to help you get through the web of insurance, hospitals and doctors so you can get down to your real job: Taking care of your child.   Cold Winds. Greatly enjoyed this one.

The Stop Watch Award goes to . . .A NEW WINNER!Cheryl_Lynn

Cheryl-Lynn of Tournesol dans un Jardin: In Quest. With the possibilities of the prompts this week it took me a few moments to actually get the Haiku. @CherylShares

Steven S. Walsky of Simplicity Lane: Last Kiss. Okay ronovans_choiceso as I was writing the rewind up to this point I was planning to write a romantic Haiku for a post with the prompt words. Then I come upon this. Now I have to kick it up a notch. A very ‘delicate’ Haiku in many ways. As you read it you are almost afraid you could break it.  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Just a reminder of to check out Steven’s books at Barnes & Nobles as well as other sites noted on his blog such as Smashwords.

Colleen_Silver_Threadingronovans_choice

Colleen of Silver Threading: Cookie Crumb Lips. She used the word wind in a way others didn’t. Is that what makes her a A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!? No, you have to go see and you’ll give her some honor of some sort as well.  @ColleenChesebro

Carolyn_Injoy

Florence 2

Florence of Rambling On: Of Contradictions by ronovans_choiceFlorence. At first a simple Haiku it would seem but then you pause and the flood begins to rush through your mind. I left my comment, but it’s in moderation until our lady of Australia wakes up. It was a very good comment too. Florence’s daughter ‘S’ contributed this week with a Haiku I call Captured. Very sensory filled Haiku. Both of the Aussie ladies receive A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @FTThum

batteredwifeseekingbetterlife

BatteredWifeSeekingBetterLife: Winded is what I ronovans_choicechose to call this one. Go check out the Haiku because I think you all have been winded in this manner before and probably are right now. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @BWseekingBL

michelle_lunato_photographer.jpg

Michelle (Nato) of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Cold of the Hunt. Ah, a Hunger Games inspired Haiku. Go check it out. And also check out MichelleLuantoPhotography.

I of course gave my own offering up this week, a last minute one that I had wanted to be a romantic one but as often happens with me turned out something else.  Remnants.

The closing Haiku for this weeks Challenge words?

Hunting high and low,

I long for your presence here,

Winding together.

Much Respect

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge #20 Hunt and Wind

The 20th Haiku Prompt Challenge!

Badge provided by Me for this season.

ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014

For a refresher or how to write Haiku in English click here. But you can use whatever Haiku style you want to. As long as you, do a Haiku.

For Tips and Guidelines refreshers click here.

Something to keep in mind about a Haiku. Usually, it is elemental in nature, but I don’t stick to that.

One link I have for you is . . . merriam-webstr.com. Simply type in the word and find out how many syllables it has. Also for synonyms and antonyms go to thesaurus.com, I find it useful for finding a word to fit the meaning when syllables are not working out right.

This weeks two words to use in some form, meaning you can use another word that means the same thing as:

Hunt & Wind

My Example

As my life winds down,

I discover you exist,

As I hunt for life.

Much respect

RonovanWrites #19 #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge Rewind Truth&Deep

The 19th hole. It’s a golfing term basically meaning, the game is over and it’s time to celebrate. Okay, that’s my definition of it for today, tonight. But for our purposes it means  the . . .

19th Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge Rewind!

The budget is still low for the celebratory offerings this week. Not sure if anyone needed an extra magazine for a flight to New York or markers to make a big sign at the Macy’s parade, but we’ll let it go for now.

Just a reminder, all you had to do to get into the Rewind was write a Haiku and somehow let me know, either with a copy of your link in the comments or a ping back.

The prompt words were Truth & Deep.

ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014Remember to follow the members of our little community here on their sites and Twitter. Show and share the love, right? Are you following our friends here?

New this WEEK!

Pamela of countonwords: From her About page. “As I write there is a small release of what goes on inside my head: what powers it, disturbs it and distracts it. Cathartic and satisfying, there are few socially acceptable things that are as utterly addictive.” Her Haiku is, well she has three of the; Why Politicians Thrive, Truth is Difficult and A Deep Truth. The first two each qualify as A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Speaking to the teacher in me of history and thus government and the second just speaking to me.

The Stop Watch Award goes to . . .A NEW WINNER!

A.C. of File Cabinet Ramblings: A Mystery. What’s it about? Well I’m not going to tell you. It’s a mystery! DUH!  You have to go look for yourself.  GEESH!

T.A. Wyatt of Finale to an Entrance: Inner Truth. First of all, the header photo. WARNING NEXT TIME! I am still freaking out. And I am not even afraid of the things. It’s just those eyes and the different colors and they stare at you. Oh, and the Haiku spoke to me quite a bit. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! for that reason. Remember to check out this author’s books at Amazon. @finaletoanEntranc

Becca of On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea: Deep Truth. Appropriate title for a Haiku of such deep and delving like meaning. Deep and delving? Sounds like future prompt words to me. Check out her Haiku like apparently everyone else on the planet does. I want her number of likes! I’m not hating on her popularity at ALL!  @rgbickerstaff

Kimberly of K.S. Fause: Time. . @ksfause  I lost myself in this one a bit. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! You can check her comments for my lost words.

Cyril of Cyril Bussiere: Truth. A good message with different meanings. I like a poem that can have a meaning that sometimes isn’t how intended or is but others think of it a different way. Also check out Cyril’s Books on Amazon@CyrilBussiere

Michelle (Nato) Lunato of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Deep Truths Untold. Well, I got wordy in my comment on her site, and thinky. You know that’s never a good thing. But her Haiku this week made me think a bit about something I actually recently wrote about on my Christian blog. @michellelunato

Colleen of Silver Threading: The Deepest of Truths. I think perhaps a story told about more than the subject used for the Haiku. Excellent form used as well. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @ColleenChesebro

Claudette of to search and to find happiness in every day: Deep Truth. A somewhat sad but true Haiku, at least to me. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

Claudette also has if you’re looking for answers: Truth in the Deep.

Meredith’s Musings and the Angels Meredith and Martha: I chose to name the Angels’ offerings this week in a combined Fiath of a Child. And I need to come up with happier prompts for Meredith to get  her perky on. @meredithlbl

Canaf of Faithful Homesteader: You Can’t Handle My Truth. I really enjoyed the thinkyness of this one in that I believe I have thought in a way some didn’t. Imagine that, I had strange thoughts. So unusual for me. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

Florence of Rambling On: Confrontations. A Haiku of self and the search of finding the truth of who and what you are, I think. But with her I am probably wrong. And if I am right she’ll tell me I am wrong just to make me think about it. @FTThum

Hugh of Hugh’s Views & News: Angel of my Heart After all the great comments on his Haiku I suppose he has to be A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @RobertHughes05

Marigold of Versus Bulb: You Don’t Have To. A festive type image, I think. At least that’s what I took away from it. Very good message.  A must read. Click on the image to see it large sized. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! .

Steven S. Walsky of Simplicity Lane: dig deep. I enjoyed the way the image and message were put together, the layout. Very much a image thing to send around to people.  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Just a reminder of to check out Steven’s books at Barnes & Nobles as well as other sites noted on his blog such as Smashwords.

Carolyn of Reviews & Recommendations: Deep truth. She even rhymed it. Now that’s something in and of itself.

Faith Unlocked: Jesus Is My Lord and . Do I really have to say good message? I didn’t think so. Go read ’em.  @FaithUnlocked

Kate of Dazzling WhimsyUnsure My Dear. No, she’s not talking to me. I asked. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @17katelee

I of course gave my own offering up this week. Although I put forth an example each week with the challenge I feel as though I need to also put out another, this one I called Truth buried deep within. This was more of a series of Haiku in story form. It is called Renga. I haven’t delved into a challenge for that but you can use that if you wish for the Haiku Prompt Challenge.

The closing Haiku for this weeks Challenge words?

I hold memories

Of a love long drempt about,

I long for deeply.

Much Respect

(I hate doing deadlines, but it takes quite a while to complete the rewind.)

There are now things called “A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!” which simply means a Haiku that either touched me or was a stand out Haiku in structure and meaning. Really each Haiku is a choice of mine so I feel a bit odd even having something called A RONOVAN’S CHOICE, but hey, it’s a thing, right?

RonovanWrites #18 #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge Rewind Stress&Hold

18. Old enough to vote, be in the military and well that’s about it. Dude, where did the fun go, right? Oh well. Whoever said growing up was fun didn’t know what they were talking about. Hmm, or is that “Who said life was fair”? Anyways, it is now time for the

18th Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge Rewind!

Sorry, no light machines or smoke machines. The budget can’t handle it. Hugh threw a tea and coffee party without my knowing it and all the funds are gone. How he got into the RW account I have no idea. I think Cyril must have been involved, there are escarguts on the receipt. I really hope that’s a typo.

Just a reminder, all you had to do to get into the Rewind was write a Haiku and somehow let me know, either with a copy of your link in the comments or a ping back.

The prompt words were Stress & Hold.

ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014Remember as well to follow the members of our little community here on their sites and Twitter. Show and share the love, right?

Now on with the show.

The Stop Watch Award goes to . . .Dun Dun Dun!

Ruth of Mad Meandering Me: Weighty matters… Two weeks in a row. Wow, Quick fingers from the Mad Meandering one. No, apparently she did not peek at my scales, or into my closet. I still wonder though. Also Killer Stress… is more serious and something else I can identify with. No idea what I am talking about? Then you need  to read her Haiku. Dun Dun Dun!

Kate of Dazzling WhimsyA Glass of Water. No, the Haiku isn’t about a glass of water but once you visit and read her post you will get it. I need to drink more water I think. Maybe that would help. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @17katelee

T.A. Wyatt of Finale to an Entrance: Imitated Bliss. You need to take a look at this one. The comments show one interpretation while I decided to go another direction. I think a successful poem of any kind is one that allows the reader to go where their thoughts will. Remember to check out this author’s books at Amazon. @finaletoanEntranc

Becca of On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea: Witch of November. I think the name says it all. Is the Witch of November at your house yet? Go by and let Becca know. And no, this is not about Narnia. Also we have Sequestered Dove, which at first made me think of a pigeon having jury duty. But in truth this one is  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!  @rgbickerstaff

Battered Wife Seeking Better Life: Peace of Mind. Holding in things can be such a burden that when you do finally let them go peace of mind follows. I hope one day for a Haiku titled Happy Days Are Here Again. @BWseekingBL

Florence of Rambling On: Mania. Knowing what I think is behind this Haiku I have to say I find humor in it. But it can be interpreted many ways. Humor or the extreme opposite. I think those intense emotional moments in life can be seen in the opposite extremes. Three thoughts came to mind as I read it. Normally Florence comes up with a Haiku that drops Barry White in the cassette player. See what you make of this one. @FTThum

Cyril of Cyril Bussiere: Hold Fast. Good advice. ‘Nuff said. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Also check out Cyril’s Books on Amazon@CyrilBussiere

Michelle (Nato) Lunato of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Stress Binds, Faith Frees. Another good advice Haiku. I seem drawn to those today. And no she is not A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! just because she is a fellow Georginian. (I know that’s not the word but I have fun with words.) @michellelunato

Hugh of Hugh’s Views & News: Hold on to Go Another of my naming of the Haiku for Hugh. I had thought of TwoFer cause it was a Two for One sale but I refrained. Or did I? Hugh’s first offering has a great image to go with it. Great presentation and I am still thinking about its meaning. This is one of those that depending on who you are you will take away totally different meanings. Haiku #1 is A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @RobertHughes05

Angie of Angie Does Until She Doesn’t: Foxy As I look at the name Angie picked I am worried to go and read. But I must, right?  Whew, it wasn’t what you guys were thinking. Although the image might just catch some of y’all a little off guard. Go check it out. @mrsreadmorbooks

Marigold of Versus Bulb: Hiding in the Hold. Marigold starts off with a Haiku with the words of the prompt and then ventures into a story using Haiku stanzas. I enjoy them a lot. I’ve done some before but not as well as this. Go check this one out.

Steven S. Walsky of Simplicity Lane: Your Mind Between. It took me a brief moment to realize the image I was seeing then I was so excited. On the fun and the feeling of stress and the joy all rolled into one. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Just a reminder of to check out Steven’s books at Barnes & Nobles as well as other sites noted on his blog such as Smashwords.

A.C. of File Cabinet Ramblings: The Oak Tree. I think everyone can probably relate to this one and probably have an old memory come to mind, thus it’s  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

Colleen of Silver Threading: First Frost’s Embrace. Great Haiku and image. Very good use of font to emphasize the word usage I think. @ColleenChesebro

Kimberly of K.S. Fause: Relinquish. I see a similarity in message I think to Cyril’s. Maybe. Although not exactly. I’ve read so many Haiku today that I am going HaikuCrazy. Beautiful image used. Apparently she loves Hugh, at least that’s what I get from the comments. Very good message about the effects of stress. @ksfause I think there really should be some efforts amongst the community to do some sort of greeting cards or something.

Elke of Writing in Devizes:  I think many of you miss out on Elke’s offerings. I have to say this weeks images are fun and we have two. I will calm them Pets Enemies would have worked as well considering those in the pictures. I love the first image a lot. I thought they were statues at first as around the city where I live there are statues of the local University mascot painted in various fashions much like these images. Very fun time. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

Elizabeth of Tea & Paper: Hold Tight. I am thinking of limbs in this one as I consider the Haiku. Loved the photo this week. I so enjoy seeing parts of the people we know and into their lives. Even if they are frozen people. One last thought of Elizabeth’s Haiku-If I were a tree what tree would I be? A writing desk.

Canaf of Faithful Homesteader: The Break Up. I thought we were losing a member of the community at the sight of this title but no, simply something we should all do. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

Faith Unlocked: Strength In Love, Kindness And Truth. Everyone check this one out, remember it each day and live it always. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!  @FaithUnlocked

Carol of Mama Cormier: The Interview. I think her image usage does fit the title for sure. I imagine everyone has felt something like that on an interview. @carol_cormier

I of course gave my own offering up this week. Although I put forth an example each week with the challenge I feel as though I need to also put out another, this one I called Lovers.

The closing Haiku for this weeks Challenge words?

Urgency of touch,

As passion pounds its rhythm,

Grasp loves heart gently.

Much Respect

RonovanWrites Weekly #Photography #Haiku Challenge #18 Bottles&Light

photography_haiku_badge_autumn_2014

That’s right, a New Name and a New Badge for the Challenge!

Wordless just didn’t really fit what was trying to be done here. Sure, this is Haiku poetry without words but in truth I believe calling it Wordless Haiku almost handcuffed the creativity. So from this point on it’s going to be known as the;

Photography Haiku Challenge!

Yes, the first ever

PhotoKu!

#18

The rules are simple: For how to write a Haiku in English and using the 5/7/5 syllable pattern click here.

I prefer no words or numbers of any kind to appear in the images you use. This includes sign language . . . of any kind. I believe this forces one to be more creative.

Below is my original example of how to do a haiku with images. People have become a lot more creative with using their photography. This is just to show you a basic layout and give you an idea of how things might look. Check out our previous participants to see how it’s really done.

Visit Blog it or Lose it and Through the Eye of Bastet to see how you might can do this.

Moon Shadow of a Woman Tango DancersHeartbeat Stumbling Sign Man Falling Men Going in a BuildingHands in Shape of Heart Two arms with infinity tattoos

This is an example of one I created.

The Haiku was:

Moon Shadow Dancers

Heartbeats Stumble, falling in

Love Infinity

I know, not the best but it was better then the first one I posted.

Here’s the challenge;

  • You create your own Photography Haiku before Noon on the Sunday following the posting of this challenge,
  • Then either post a link in the comments here for everyone that visits to go see and/or ping back (copy the URL for this post into your Haiku post) to this post in your Haiku post.

I will read it and comment on it. Once I comment come get the badge.

If some of you would like a theme to prompt you what to begin thinking of you can perhaps use. . .

Bottles & Light

What do the words mean to you, and how can you connect the two words through that second line? You do not have to do the prompt, it is just a prompt to make you start thinking of things.

RonovanWrites #17 #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge Rewind Focus&Stray

The Big 17. That’s Correctamundo folks, here is the 17th Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind.

Did you make it?

Did you not?

Did you enter?

Did you forgot?

It rhymed, so ignore the structure. But that’s right folks. To get into the Rewind all you had to do was write one and somehow let me know, either with a copy of your link in the comments or a ping back.

The prompt words were Focus & Stray.

ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014

I want to say something real quick. The Haiku Prompt Challenge is becoming like a little community of friends. With that in mind please follow each other wherever you are able to. Also check out each others site for the Haiku offerings as well. Each week I know what names I will see in the ‘likes’ and comments of each person. It’s kind of nice to have that reassurance that someone is out there, you know?

Now on with the show.

New to us this Week!

(Don’t you just love when new people show up?)

Michelle (Nato) Lunato of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Her Haiku today is The Pain of Love Gone Wrong. Everyone needs to check this one out. Especially if you’ve had a love gone astray. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! I’m not really sure michelle_lunato_photographer.jpgwhich name she likes to go by, all of them are amazing names. I mean really, who does not like the name Michelle unless they have had evil encounters with one. Hmm. Memories are coming back to the amnesiac but I love all her names. And you have to love her blog name as well. From her About page; “My goal is to share my humorous stories from deployments and random thoughts on life (all in effort to work on my writing muscles). I hope to make people laugh, cry, and maybe, just maybe, realize they need to seize the moment. The world will never slow down and things may never be in a perfect place for you to start your dreams. ” She also has a photography blog; Michelle Lunato Photography. @michellelunato

Who reached the finish line first?

Ruth of Mad Meandering Me: Lost in thought… No that’s the name of her Haiku, not what happened to me just then. I gave her the Stop Watch Award for the first to enter this week. Now I might have to actually come up with an award. I think her offering really captured the heart of the matter.

Kimberly of K.S. Fause: A NaNoWriMo Haiku. Other than the threats of repercussions by Hugh against me, this was awesome. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Very much in the spirit of the month and the madness. @ksfause

A.C. of File Cabinet Ramblings: Thoughts Like Snowflakes. A very peaceful and almost meditative use of the prompts this week. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Also A.C. offered a second one titled Like Scattered Leaves after his thoughts had focused.

Becca of On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea: Focus Strays. I didn’t realize the prompt words made a title but that’s what Becca is here for, to teach me things.  I don’t think this was about hunting although rabbits were mentioned. @rgbickerstaff

Meredith’s Musings and the Angels Meredith and Martha: Meredith dedicated her two offerings this week to Nicholas the White and Writer’s Block. What to meet them? Go check it out. Martha’s offerings are called Lost and Found. @meredithlbl

Elizabeth of Tea & Paper: The Present is Now. People enjoyed this on her site and connected with it. I liked the use of a word in her Haiku and interpreted it my own way. Go check it out.

Carol of Mama Cormier: New Glasses and Lost. That’s right, two offerings. I just knew something would be good when I saw the ‘New Glasses’ title. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! New Glasses, I tell you when someone needs them and is driving you places, it’s a religious experience. @carol_cormier

T.A. Wyatt of Finale to an Engrance: Lost Horizon: The Ambition Haiku. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! I think this one says a lot. Also have you checked out this author’s books at Amazon? @finaletoanEntranc

Cyril of Cyril Bussiere: Till I Bloom. The only thing missing from this Haiku was a comment from Hugh about a bucket of ice water. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Also check out Cyril’s Books on Amazon. (And Hugh did a review of ‘Short Shorts‘ as well.) @CyrilBussiere

Kate of Dazzling Whimsy: I will use the one word comments by two of our own as the title for this one. Romantic Perfection. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @17katelee

Angie of Angie Does Until She Doesn’t: To The Beach! Okay so I named this one and the Haiku is actually more peaceful than this but hey, when you see the word beach you just have to exclaim it. @mrsreadmorbooks

Hugh of Hugh’s Views & News: SCORE! Yes, I named the Haiku this week. There are many ways you can interpret Hugh’s ‘sporting’ Haiku this week. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @RobertHughes05

Canaf of Faith Devotionals: Restless Mind. I think we can all relate to this one. Especially one who’s mind at times does not shut down at night.

Colleen of Silver Threading: Two Souls. Why Colleen doesn’t post her link in comments so all of you can go and see her I have no idea. Grrr! Love the Haiku. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @ColleenChesebro

Claudette of to search and to find happiness in every day: Your Hopeful Smile. A Haiku that sneaks up on you. Or it did me. It took a second read for me to get my own meaning from it. A good one. An enjoyable moment of reflection.

Marigold of Versus Bulb: Blinding Darkness. A story in three Haiku and a bit of information about the image used along with some humor added. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

Florence of Rambling On: Intent Attention. Another one Hugh missed with the cold bucket of water. @FTThum

Faith Unlocked: Return to the Fold. Great message as always. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!  @FaithUnlocked

Battered Wife Seeking Better Life: Mischievous Grin. A lighthearted and fun one this week, although if I were certain people I might would be a big concerned. @BWseekingBL

Carolyn of Reviews & Recommendations: Up or Down? One look at the photo used here and you will fall out of your chair, off your bed, or off your rocker. Every week I always get reminded to call my mother about this time. Her name is Carolyn as well. I don’t always call though, she always thinks there must be something wrong. Well a call about me usually does mean something has happened.

I’ll close out this weeks rewind with a final Haiku.

From your lips sounds stray,

As the night continues on,

My focus is you.

Much Respect

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku Prompt Challenge #17 Focus & Stray

ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014Badge provided by Me for this time around.

The 17th Haiku Prompt Challenge!

Focus & Stray

My Example

The clouds last wisps stray,

As the wind sends them away,

My focus renews.

.

Much respect

RonovanWrites Weekly Wordless Haiku Challenge #17 Cars & Bridges

Wordless Haiku ChallengeI first want to thank DazzlingWhimsy for creating this badge for the challenge.

#17

This week I decided to make it a little easier. Why? To be honest there are such great photography being used I want to see what’s out there. And I thought these two words go together well, but also do present somewhat of a challenge to those using their own photography.

The rules are simple: For how to write a Haiku in English and using the 5/7/5 syllable pattern click here.

No words or numbers of any kind can appear in the images you use. This includes sign language . . . of any kind.

You can use just pictures and not put them in the format I have them here. I was being creative. The point of this is to have fun.

Here’s the challenge; You created your own wordless Haiku for Wednesday or any day really, then either post a link in the comments here for everyone that visits to go see and/or ping back (or copy the URL for this post into your Haiku post) to this post in your Haiku post.

I will read it and comment on it. Once I comment come get the badge.

If some of you would like a theme to prompt you what to begin thinking of you can perhaps use. . .

Cars & Bridges

What do the words mean to you, and how can you connect the two words through that second line? You do not have to do the prompt, it is just a prompt to make you start thinking of things.

RonovanWrites #16 Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind Haunt&Release

Here with the 16th Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind, Recap, Round up . . . oh ronovan_writes_haiku_prompt_badge_autumn_2014whatever you like to call it. It’s going to be a bit free flowing today to get things out to you. I love all the participation these prompts bring. I was told not to be so effusive with my excitement when I write about things, but I’ve decided that’s what is me and that’s what I will do. So let’s get his party started.

The prompt words were Haunt&Release.  Both provided by yours truly. I being truly.

NEW To Us This Week!

Marigold of Versus Blurb joins us this week with what I call “From Dust to marigoldBlood”. I think give the Haiku, two of them in somewhat of a legend story form, along with the explanation of them, led me to the name I chose. Almost sounds like a book title. I’ll have to remember it. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

Now for those regular haunts around this haunt

AC_ElliottA.C. Elliott of File Cabinet Ramblings brings the pain. He gave us Haunted Soul. Combining of art work and poetry accent each well. @elliott_ac

And a second one, A New Haunt. Whoa, don’t scroll down too far or you will see a scary site. Scare the bee dithers out of you if you don’t like slithery things. Jumpin’ Gee Hot Flashes!

Colleen of Silver Threading is up next with The Haunting. Another great one Colleen_Silver_Threadingwith an unexpected use age of the words.  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @ColleenChesebro

Meredith and Martha of Meredith’s Musings, My Literary Angels.

MeredithsMusingsMeredith – Haunting Melody and Released Ghosts

Martha – My Request and   Comfort

As always a bit of love, a bit of children and a bit of the season. . @meredithlbl

Ruth of Mad Meandering Me brought two Haiku this week, PerfumRuthe. I am just surprised at the different usages this week. I thought of ghosts and things of that nature but getting a lot of variety. Awesome.

Cyril Bussiere showed up with two offerings this week. “Tormcyrilented” & “Enshrined in Dreams“. Straight to the points in his offerings this week. Neither needed me to think too much. I have a feeling he took pity on the old man.  @cyrilbussiere

T.A. Wyatt of Finale to an Entrance gave us Halloween. I like that, straight TAforward. Go and see it. It is most definitely Halloween centered. Does that frighten you? Would it help if I said Elizabeth called it a “cutie”? @FinaletoEntranc

Kimberly of K.S. Fause gave us Onward. Okay, great image, great Haiku. She ksfausenails it every week. It’s just awesome. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @ksfause

Elizabeth of Tea & Paper wrote a spooky one I call “Getting Close“. An overtly Halloween inspired offering and I liked that.  ElizabethI like that she did not veer away from the obviousness of the prompts’ meaning.

Wendy of Wendy Anne Darling certainly delivered a messwendy_darlingage with MemoriesA story of what I would think of a lost love in some from.  @AuthorWDarling

Becca of On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea came up with Cutting Chi Releases BeccaDrops of Blood. I enjoyed this one for going in a unique direction. Very nice. @rgbickerstaff

Canaf of Faithful Devotions shared Freedom this week. I looked at the Canafmessage in this one this week and see a few interpretations but I choose that time here is but a blink of an eye and then we are free from it all.

Hugh of Hugh’s Views & News gave his seasonal offering of “Release the Spirits“. Hugh LoadedOkay this is a RONOVAN’S CHOICE! I have to say this was a surprise and the humor of it caught me.  @RobertHughes05

Kate of Dazzling Whimsy gives her what I call “Loss“.  I said last week “Kate only Kate2 - Copyknows one way to write and that is with her heart.” Well this weeks Haiku speaks from the heart. A loss of friends just recently led to the writing of this one. From an illness she had but is okay now. And she has promised to go to the doctor/hospital next time! ARONOVAN’S CHOICE! @17katelee

Claudette of to search and find happiness in everything, gives us what I call Claudette  “My Haunt“. A use of haunt in the way of a place rather than a ghost or memory I believe.

Florence of Rambling On brings what I have named “The Future“. If you Florence Thaven’t visited, check this one out. It might take you a moment to get my title,  I think you will. @FTThum

Battered Wife Seeking Better Life wrote  “My Life“. The titbatteredwifeseekingbetterlifele she chose makes a lot of sense. Her story and the Haiku itself say it all. @bwseekingbl

Carol of Mama Cormier wrote “Night Terrors”. I almost didn’t read it with thatCarol_Cormier name and my imagination, but i did anyway. Then I read it and yep I should have listened to myself.

Elke of writingindevizes wrote Anticipating. If you didn’t check out her site Elkethis past week do so now and hope she hasn’t changed it yet. Awesome! And she actually did FOUR haiku. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE!

And another one!  Dark night.

Faith Unlocked gave us Released by Light. Great message as always. A nofaithunlocked surprise message. Sometimes you think saying that no surprise is a bad thing but I think keeping with your message throughout your blog is a good thing at times. @FaithUnlocked

I say each week “what a variety” and each week I mean it. This week really stood out as one where people stretched a bit to find those different meanings. I missed some of our regulars. I am always sad when I have to take a face out of the rewind. I know it is usually only for a week but it still hurts a bit. Yeah, I know, I’m silly, but that’s me.

I did a few Haiku this week as well, just so y’all would remember I knew how. The host has to show his skills at times.

Thank y’all for participating.

Much Respect

Ronovan
