23rd Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge ReCap!

Just a reminder, all you had to do to get into the ReCap was write a Haiku and somehow let me know, either with a copy of your link in the comments or a ping back.

The prompt words were Breathe & Night.

Another reminder is to follow the members of our little community here on their sites and Twitter. Show and share the love, right? Are you following our friends here? I include links to their sites and Twitters if they have them.

Moving Forward there will be Two  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Haiku recipients each week. One for Humor and one for more Serious. It was brought to my attention that perhaps if I were giving it to everyone then why even bother. And in truth for those of you who remember I used to choose category recipients early on I suppose this makes sense. Proper structure may become a big decider at times. By structure I mean the 1&2 and 2&3 verses making sentences. But the message, as you all know is always what is more important to me in this challenge. The problem? There are so many great messages that I have to use something. So now, my job just got more difficult. Let the games begin. May your days be long but your poems be short.

January’s Dreamer: When Christmas Comes. Nice Haiku with a great image to go with the words. Excellent. Like this site, I’m a work-in-progress, but by God’s grace, He’s still editing.

I am a mother of 3 who is having a bit of a crisis in my life with my emotions…thought that I would work though some of my awkwardness here and hopefully have a moment of epiphany. I love to take photos, although I am not a pro, I do feel that they help me in ways I cannot describe.
My family just gave me my first “Real” camera which I must say, aside from my family, is the best gift I have ever received! Bear with me as I learn how to use it and hopefully capture whatever it is that I am searching for. It looks like it’s going to be a fun, enlightening experience! I welcome all of you to jump on for the ride and please share your thoughts and constructive criticism to help me on my journey!

This was more of a series of Haiku in story form. It is called Renga. I haven’t delved into a challenge for that but you can use that if you wish for the Haiku Prompt Challenge.

Sorry, no light machines or smoke machines. The budget can’t handle it. Hugh threw a tea and coffee party without my knowing it and all the funds are gone. How he got into the RW account I have no idea. I think Cyril must have been involved, there are escarguts on the receipt. I really hope that’s a typo.

Florence of Rambling On: Mania. Knowing what I think is behind this Haiku I have to say I find humor in it. But it can be interpreted many ways. Humor or the extreme opposite. I think those intense emotional moments in life can be seen in the opposite extremes. Three thoughts came to mind as I read it. Elke of Writing in Devizes:  I think many of you miss out on Elke’s offerings. I have to say this weeks images are fun and we have two. I will calm them Pets Enemies would have worked as well considering those in the pictures. I love the first image a lot. I thought they were statues at first as around the city where I live there are statues of the local University mascot painted in various fashions much like these images. Very fun time. The Big 17. That’s Correctamundo folks, here is the 17th Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind.

Did you make it?

Did you not?

Did you enter?

Did you forgot?

It rhymed, so ignore the structure. But that’s right folks. To get into the Rewind all you had to do was write one and somehow let me know, either with a copy of your link in the comments or a ping back.

The prompt words were Focus & Stray.

I want to say something real quick. The Haiku Prompt Challenge is becoming like a little community of friends. With that in mind please follow each other wherever you are able to. Also check out each others site for the Haiku offerings as well. Each week I know what names I will see in the ‘likes’ and comments of each person. It’s kind of nice to have that reassurance that someone is out there, you know?

I love all the participation these prompts bring. I was told not to be so effusive with my excitement when I write about things, but I’ve decided that’s what is me and that’s what I will do. Ruth of Mad Meandering Me brought two Haiku this week, Perfume. I am just surprised at the different usages this week. I thought of ghosts and things of that nature but getting a lot of variety. Awesome.

 

Cyril Bussiere showed up with two offerings this week. “Tormented” & “Enshrined in Dreams“. Straight to the points in his offerings this week. Neither needed me to think too much. I have a feeling he took pity on the old man.  @cyrilbussiere

 

T.A. Wyatt of Finale to an Entrance gave us Halloween. I like that, straight forward. Go and see it. It is most definitely Halloween centered. Does that frighten you? Would it help if I said Elizabeth called it a “cutie”? @FinaletoEntranc

Canaf of Faithful Devotions shared Freedom this week. I looked at the message in this one this week and see a few interpretations but I choose that time here is but a blink of an eye and then we are free from it all.

Kate of Dazzling Whimsy gives her what I call “Loss“.  I said last week “Kate only knows one way to write and that is with her heart.” Well this weeks Haiku speaks from the heart. A loss of friends just recently led to the writing of this one. From an illness she had but is okay now. And she has promised to go to the doctor/hospital next time! ARONOVAN’S CHOICE! @17katelee

Faith Unlocked gave us Released by Light. Great message as always. A no surprise message. Sometimes you think saying that no surprise is a bad thing but I think keeping with your message throughout your blog is a good thing at times. @FaithUnlocked

 

I say each week “what a variety” and each week I mean it. This week really stood out as one where people stretched a bit to find those different meanings. I missed some of our regulars. I am always sad when I have to take a face out of the rewind. I know it is usually only for a week but it still hurts a bit. Yeah, I know, I’m silly, but that’s me.

I did a few Haiku this week as well, just so y’all would remember I knew how. The host has to show his skills at times.
