Ever had someone say “Depending on your opinion I would have to ask what you’re thinking?”

I have and my response has been silence in the past because I just don’t care enough about the person’s thoughts on what I think, but now I decided to share my opinion about what I’m thinking.

If I or you have an opinion, it really isn’t up to someone else to question it. The only time that even becomes a thing is if you are in a debate. Sorry, but my life isn’t a debate with anyone. You ask, I give, you receive. That’s pretty much it.

I give in a gentle manner. At least to start with. I haven’t really “gone off” on someone, as they say. Or at least not in the traditional sense of the word.

Last week I gave two prompt words in my Haiku Challenge, Free and Think. You are free to think whatever you like. If we had thought police we would all be in jail. We all think some pretty whacked out stuff.

Could you imagine there being “Hate Thought Laws”? I mean think about it. “Man, I really think the president sucks.” The next thing you know you have someone in dark glasses and a suit at your door.

It’s not the thoughts that matter. It’s what you do with them. I may not like someone, but as long as I don’t do anything to them or speak in a too harsh manner then I’m good. I may say I don’t like someone. I don’t have to say why. But if I don’t and that person is of a different ancestral background than I am, can you guess what people will say?

Even if I say “I don’t like the guy because he’s a jerk,” people are still going to think what they want to. For example, I am not a big Obama fan, okay, I’m not an Obama fan at all. I’m from the South, I’m a white skinned male in his 40s. Guess what people will say my reason for not liking Obama will be.

Of course people would be wrong. But you know what? They have a right to think what they want to. Thinking is good. I get a lot of problems solved that way, a lot of issues with people sorted out that way. Thinking through things and even having an argument with someone in your head will save a lot of trouble with people.

Most of the time when I do that I end up realizing how silly something was to begin with. It’s a coping or therapy really.

Thinking is good. Policing my thoughts isn’t. Keep your filthy paws off my private thoughts. (Okay, so the Grease homage there didn’t work out quite right but I tried.)

Plastic Rings and Latex Things & The Side Effects of Therapy

Hello to my Faithful and perhaps some infrequent Flyby Friends of the Lost Mind. We are gathered here today to discuss . . . Therapy!

No, don’t run, don’t hide, and do not DENY!


I see you with your Krispy Kreme donuts. That . . . is NOT . . . therapy. Or is it?

Therapy is defined as ‘treatment especially of bodily, mental, or behavioral disorder’.


Oh my. Look around my little site and you will find much disorder, won’t you? I keep meaning to organize things but cannot seem to remember to do so. I would winky smiley face but I don’t have the strength. My right index finger is sprained. I may have to use the naughty middle finger instead. Perhaps I need a Krispy Kreme. DonutsFor my Friends of Foreign firmas that are terra, that IS how the company actually spells the words. Don’t hate the spelling, eat the cake . . . the donut or doughnut if you want to really drag it out—whatever just eat the freaking pastry!

Do you take headache medicines? Did you know there are side effects? Do you ever read them?


“This may cause rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.”


And that’s just for Tylenol, and not even all of the possible ones.


I have to take medicines for my Fibromyalgia and my Migraines. Yes, I capitalize the M because they have earned it. If I don’t do so they then remind and demand it. But these medicines say they may cause pain in the joints or muscles and cause Migraines. Oh and of course possible death. Perhaps that is just their covering themselves from any oopsies.


So where am I going with all of this?


There are controversial therapies for treating all sorts of things. To relieve migraines and other such head ailments they once drilled holes in the skull. Of course then there was using leeches for those who were anemic.

(My apologies but I just could not bring myself to show the leeches. I am freaking out thinking about it.)

Now there is a balloon therapy for releasing your worries, pains, and hurts caused by either other people or just life in general. I learned about this on my friend Amanda’s site, Inside the Life of Moi, a wonderfully entertaining and tasty fare you really must partake of. Nom nom nom. Nom nom nom

(Please remind me never to type ‘nom nom nom’ ever again for the rest of my days. Thank you.)

On this particular occasion Amanda became more serious than usual and shared a personal experience where she tried the balloon releasing suggested by a friend. This was after she resisted stabbing the innocent pain bombs as they floated around her. You really need to read the article. I may be explaining it incorrectly. I just know there were balloons and possible stabbings involved. Is it possible to band aid a balloon?


Upon reblogging said article I received replies about what the releasing balloons does to wildlife and the environment. Of course neither Amanda nor I would ever wish for any living creature to be harmed in any way. Amanda was merely saying people needed to let go of what ails them in order to heal. If she had for a moment thought an article such as hers would cause her intelligent readers to storm the stores for balloons and helium tanks to harm the planet, she would not have published said article.


Thus we come to a side effect of the balloon therapy, wildlife endangerment. There are plenty of sites that will give you all the details, but just know that latex isn’t good for wildlife. Choking of course is one side effect.


It reminds me slightly of the movie Happy Feet when the penguin voiced by Robin Williams has the six-pack plastic ring holder caught around his neck and then he ends up almost choking to death because of it. For a cartoon where you knew there was no harm you may have laughed. I didn’t laugh, but I have become or have always been a bit sensitive about certain things in film.

In real life the penguin would have died. Is that a pretty picture to you? Funny?


“Ronovan, oh Ronovan,” I can almost hear some of you say. “Why are you writing all of this drivel and randomness?”


Therapy. I was hurt by the response and a feeling of being attacked. These hurts were the side effects of being nice.


“So don’t do it again.”


Oh but I will, and you know I will. But as Amanda suggested, I’m letting go. I’m putting my hurts and pains down in words, placing them in the blogosphere, and letting them go. What will be the side effects of that?

Writing and Blogging For Therapy

Why did you start blogging? For some it was to create a platform for their writing in preparation for a career as an Author. Others may have approached it as a way to share their creativity or even a cause they have embraced. And yet there is another category, therapy.

There are people who do not have an outlet in their lives to free their minds and souls of what ails them or inspires them. If they try, the people around them look at them strangely or even interfere. However, if they blog, they are looked upon as artists and inspirations. They are accomplishing something!

I’m not really certain as to why I began to blog, perhaps a platform, not a hobby, but most definitely therapy. I have so many thoughts and ideas that I need to get them out of my head and somewhere else.

I wonder if it’s validation I am seeking? But then I am also a person that likes to support and encourage others to push forward. I may see doubt in a specific word but in the body of the work I see hope and potential and I like to share that vision.

You may receive a comment from me every now and then. I only comment if I really feel moved to do so. It may be by the piece posted, or something that just inspires me that this person needs to be talked to, or maybe a personal link that I feel.

Whatever reason you post, it is a therapy of sorts and it does allow for healing in many ways. Just make sure to keep relying on the output of your thoughts and ideas instead of the input of the comments of others to help you know that you are great at what you do. Yes, professionals help you, but I am speaking of those of us who may not be complimentary for other reasons.

Every piece I see in blogs has something to it that I learn from even if it is not my cup of tea so to speak. It might be the most awful piece of garbage ever, but I learned how not to do something. Being honest there. I may not click like on the ones I really do like at times as I have a problem with remembering to do certain tasks at times, but I learned from it. So keep posting, keep therapying, I know I made up a word, but that’s part of the fun, isn’t it? I’ll keep reading, liking, when I remember, commenting and learning. And thank you for helping with my therapy by sharing your own.
