Beginning with the Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge on date 11/16/2015 for those who fill out the form HERE (at the bottom of that page) and agree, it is possible entries may end up in a collection of poetry in a FREE e-book format on Amazon. It’s something I’m considering. Not a guarantee. If I were to do it, you would all see mention in a Challenge as well as a post of its own that a book was in the making.

NEW! Janni Styles (Author): The Watchers | JanniStyles1. An oh so true story and bit of wisdom here. One I’ve been attempting to teach my son every chance I can. “Blogging is all I really have time or energy for at the moment and some days now, thanks to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Fibroymyalgia and Chronic Fatigue, even that is in question so I often post old works, previous works or short poems. Told by a writing instructor that we need to write a million words, I believe it was from this quote: “Start early and work hard. A writer’s apprenticeship usually involves writing a million words (which are then discarded) before he’s almost ready to begin. That takes a while.” ~David Eddings

First to Offend this Week!

Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): Behold the Majestic | Annette Rochelle Aben. A surprisingly beautiful image from so quickly put together of a Haiku. Although 16 minutes is a bit slow for Annette, I think she must have decided to have breakfast after she saw the prompt come out. But that’s the great thing about Haiku, you go with instinct and see what happens. You may change a word here or there but that initial thought can be the best moment of creativity. Tessa: Gold Crane | Writing is my life. Make sure to check out Tessa’s new profile photo! There is a symmetry of the use of words in this one. And oddly, I don’t often, if I have ever, noticed how symmetrical the length of the first and third lines can be until I read this one. The two are not exactly the same length but close enough to give a balance to the whole piece. Strange what you see and think of when you look at a piece of poetry. @TeresaSmeigh

Greg: Lookie-Loos | Potholes in the Road of Life. Not the usual from our friend Greg. And he got me with this one. From that title I had no idea what to expect, but he went alternate meaning for this one, alternate from what you may have at first thought. And oddly you could say this is a nature Haiku in many ways. @greg_wolford

Alice: Gruidae | Boomerang Zone. You are looking at the title and wondering what it means, right? Don’t worry, I had to search it. And then I laughed. Totally appropriate for the challenge this week. I at first thought the Haiku was of a peaceful imagery but there is one word that then makes me go to the more, well not quite peaceful. Kind of funny in my mind. Thinking of John Travolta as a bird now. @Vidocq_CC

Clarence: 3 Golden Wishes | PrarieChat. If you haven’t been visiting Clarence’s blog lately, this is a good time to jump back to it. Very good offerings. Clarence is showing his learning this week. Another turn to the search engines for me already. First Alice and now Clarence. But I enjoy that, it just makes doing the review take a little longer.

Shida: Red Yiy | 876LoveR. It took a couple of tries to fully get this one. Then it came in to view and I laughed. I’m not sure if I laughed at humor or at my slowness at understanding. I only have one negative thing to say about Shida, I’m jealous. I can’t be a BrownGirlBlogger. I may have to start the SpeckledBrothersBloggersBand. Um, I have freckles. And no, I can’t say it even two times fast. @realrebel_r

Judy: Failure or Fate | Edwina’s Episodes. Sometimes you wonder why you didn’t get to do that something you wanted to. Now, I’m not saying things happen to bring an opportunity for a Haiku, but it does give you a thought as to perhaps there is some reason behind why that thing was missed. @EdwinasEpisodes

Kat: Gold ‘n Crane | like mercury colliding. I think you’ll enjoy these three. I know she may be wondering why I didn’t make up a title this week and went with the post title, but I liked how that looked and sounded together. All three are different, and all very much telling their own stories. Very well done.

jazzytower: Silhouettes Begin | Thoughts and Entanglements. A very peaceful and imagery filled Haiku. I would like to see a painting of this one or a photograph by someone who knows how. Hmm, just thought, I guess this really did paint a picture with words for me. Now that’s amazing in only 13 words. @jazzytower

Ritu: Mane & Happy New Year | But I Smile Anyway. Two Haiku that use synonyms to amazing affect, effect, offect. She used them so well. The first one is very much a nature Haiku and may have you scratching your head a little at first for the prompt words, but they are there in all their syonymatic glory. (Yes, I made up a word but isn’t it a cool one?) @PhantomGiggler

Michael Erb & Company: Lovers Embrace | Me and the Boss Poetry. Four Haiku that truly do tell a story, one leading to the next to a final end. Reminding one of a scene perhaps of being at a cabin on a lake and rising in the morning. @IrisandMe

Sue Vincent (Author):  Promise | Daily Echo. This week Sue gives a culture reference. I even looked it up and didn’t know the names we used in the US, well I had heard of them but had no idea they referred to this. And now that I’ve seen one close up in a picture, I may not sleep until the next review. Of course I discussed it with my boy “B” and he loved it. Dr. Kottaway: Gleaning | KO Rural Mad As Hell Blog. You know, I often expect a bit of odd humor and a strange way of Haiku for our resident doctor, I mean that in a good way. She stretches the mind at times. Like silly putty. But this one isn’t like that. This is a great educational post about sand dunes in Colorado? I had no idea. Or maybe I did but amnesia sucks at times. I REALLY enjoyed reading about her time there and photo showing the scale of things. So much in a short paragraph. The lady should write a book.

Lizl: The Golden Weaver’s Domestic Chores | Quilted Poetry. Great imagery created here. And this must be the week for great posts to along with Haiku. We get a part of Lizl’s enjoyment of life in North Dakota and information about the Golden Palm Weaver.  Make certain to visit and click her link or an image. WOW! denis: Nesting | Haiku hound. You gotta go check this blog out. Haiku Hound is a blog that, well if you haven’t visited then you are missing out on some AMAZING photography you might find in National Geographic. The Haiku this week is excellent and learning a touch about Rainbow Lorikeets was a lot of fun.

J Lapis:   Gold Romance, Crane Style | DarkLight Harbor. Two “little quickies” for you this week. A proposal and a second I can see being interpreted many ways, almost like … well you determine what you think it means for you.

Al: Canal-side, Cuisine, Cultural, and wait for it Plot summary for those who’ve never seen The Karate Kid | Al the Author’s Blog. Four Haiku and all of those titles are provided by Al. I wanted to state that for the record. You get a serious Nature Haiku to start off with and then … Al takes over and loses control. @AlistairLane

Janice: Crane Lovers | Ontheland. A great Haiku along with a great work of art from 1833. I thought Janice might do well with this one. A true Nature endeavor.  @ontheland1

TJ Paris: In Bloom |La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. I DID IT! You’ll find out what I did when you visit the post. Of course a great Haiku obviously completely inspired by the photograph. @Roccoco_a_GoGo

Meredith & Martha: Pulled/Builder’s Dream by Meredith and Benevolence/The Concert by Martha | Meredith’s Musings. Meredith gives us two different Haiku while Martha’s I kind of see in an odd way playing on a theme depending on the person looking at what they are looking forward to. If you understood that, congratulations. @Meredithlbl

Elusive: Urban Dusk | Elusive Trope. I agree with Olga about that last line. Two images come to mind. Go see what you can come up with.

D.B. Mauldin (Author): WGolden Crane, Pot of Gold, and Church Women | mama bear musings. Three this week. After typing all of Al’s Haiku names this was a piece of cake. So these were awesome. I really like Pot of Gold and Church Women make me laugh because I’ve seen them sitting in front me at church hundreds of times. Nato: Dear Eternal Victim | Chasing Life and Finding Dreams.  Some great advice here. I was thinking it would be interesting to tag people you know to a post to give them a clue about their lives they can’t see for themselves. Sandra: Crane | Wild Daffodil. Okay, this was one weird turn of events. The choice of the word crane as a prompt was perfect for Sandra this week.  Seriously go see why. Also wish her a happy birthday. She actually posted the Haiku on her birthday. Dedication or what?

Olga: Crane Drops | Stuff and what if. Great visual with the Haiku. A visual she was forced to create herself for lack of finding anything just right. You WILL love it. Everyone else did. The comments were great except for an odd one that I think may have not come across as intended.

H. M. Goodchild (Author): Fortunes Dreams of Good Luck | Folksong and Fantasy. Two Haiku of folklore and fantasy. That may seem odd considering the name of the blog, but the two haiku actually fit perfectly. H. M. Goodchild is found on Amazon as Harriet Goodchild, yes, we have another author joining us. Florence: I Have the Power | Meanings And Musings. I like to have fun naming Florence’s Haiku but this will be the last week for the humorous endeavors with the upcoming possible ventures the challenge might take. This Haiku actually says a lot. More than what cranes often represent but what that representation means as a result. I didn’t even realize that until I began writing her review. Meredith & Martha: Haiku/Poetry by Meredith and Using the Noggin/Emotional Outpouring by Martha | Meredith’s Musings. Meredith, in her introduction to her and Martha’s Literary Angels offerings this week, gives the reason I don’t do an Opening Haiku now and wait to put out my own Haiku, although Mondays get good clicks. As for the Haiku this week? Meredith’s are great advertising for the Challenge, and I seriously mean that. I may actually use them as such if she is okay with it. And Martha’s do the same. With Emotional Outpouring being the more, I guess you would say, poetic of the bunch as far as all the emotional outpourings we do. @Meredithlbl

Elusive: Haiku-Mind | Elusive Trope. I at first thought the title was a display of the prompt words, but no. The challenge has turned in to a reason for doing Haiku Poetry on a Monday. I hadn’t even thought of it going in that direction.

Lizl: Change of Season | Quilted Poetry. The explanation going with this one is not only well written, in a poetic way, not rhyming or anything like that, but also captures the peaceful sense of nature Haiku should capture when done in the truest way. @QuiltedPoetry

Judy: Tortured Soul | Edwina’s Episodes. Poor Judy is participating in National Novel Writing Month but still took part in the challenge. Her piece this week speaks to NaNoWriMo just as much as it does to the Haiku Challenge. @EdwinasEpisodes

This week Hanami is the traditional Haiku with a very imagery filled piece, and Washi is the experimental piece which is just as imagery filled and amazingly easy to read. I think he nailed that one for even this concussed minded fool is able to understand.

Olga: Haiku and Mind(ful) | Stuff and what if. I wanted to share the image used for this one. It was a team effort. A spin taken on a suggestion from her daughter. The end result is simplistic, Haiku, and very beautiful to observe. In other words it’s a Haiku in it’s own form.

Swatiu: Entertaining Thoughts | imgrowing. Okay, I have to admit I don’t quite get this one. That first line? Well I do have one thought as to why that first line. But I am certain every visitor will saw “awwww” as soon as they click over. She may have figured out one of my soft spots.
