24th Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge ReCap!

To get into the ReCap write a Haiku and somehow let me know, either with a copy of your link in the comments or a ping back. A quick note, the ping backs don’t always work properly. I really want people to visit each of you so please be sure to copy your link in the comments.

The prompt words were Innocence & Life.

Two  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Haiku recipients are chosen each week. One for Humor and one for a more Serious tone. Proper structure may become a big decider at times. By structure I mean the 1&2 and 2&3 verses making sentences. But the message, as you all know is always what is more important to me in this challenge. The problem? There are so many great messages that I have to use something. So now, my job just has become more difficult. Let the games begin. May your days be long but your poems be short.

 New this Week!

Caseylove’s: Innocence in Question. I liked this because the photo used sets it up so nicely. I can just imagine this perfectly. From the about.me page–I have recently developed an interest in photography. I don’t know what has sparked this but the interest is there so I’m in pursuit of loving an appreciating this art.
I also have the love for writing although I’m far from perfect and I’m no Stephen King this is my passion as well.–@caseyandjojo

 

Sue Vincent of Daily Echo: Frosted. A Haiku that takes one a few minutes to think about and come to a meaning for one’s self. I finally came to mine. Sue and I have been Twitter friends for a while now but haven’t really connected and I am so happy she participated this week. Now I must find a way to get one of her books. Being a historian myself, some of the books she has out are very appealing. (Anyone see me asking for an interview soon?) From her About Page-I am a Yorkshire born painter and writer, living in the south of England. I paint the strange things that come as images in dreams and fantasies and write about life as it happens.
I was raised in a spiritually eclectic family in a landscape where myths and legends were woven into the stones, and have always had an intimate relationship with the inner worlds and the understanding that all paths are but spokes on a wheel, leading ultimately to the same centre. Cindy of Dreams in Alaska: Imprisoned by Ironies. Yes, that’s my title for this entry. It’s a message that one can apply to so many different situations of life. This last minute entry makes my decision for Serious Haiku much more difficult. Want to know where Cindy is from? Really? Seriously? I am so not going to answer that. From her About page–I’m a busy worker bee by day, while juggling the responsibilities of being a full-time student and aspiring writer by night. As a recent empty nester, I’m learning to enjoy the sounds of silence as I set my sites on the next chapter of life.–@cindyburrill

Mira of They, You and Me: The Faint Hearted. A great commentary on the world. Very true and very sad. The poem is not a sad poem but once you begin reflecting on it you go places that might bring sadness. A must read to make you think.  @BediMona

Canaf of Faithful Devotionals: Innocence Lost. Another good message. You should go and read the About page, a very interesting story to me. And I like this that I found on the site. “I Get by with a little help from my friends and a lot of help from God.”

Melissa of This, Right Now: Growth. You must read this one. Not only a great Haiku but visually the way it graduates is excellent. I love it when things turn out like that.

 

Nato of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Innocence of a Child. Hmm. Great structure. Good story. Sad ending. I think I might be depressed now. Things growing dim. Sigh. Wait, I felt like that before reading the Haiku. 🙂 Gotcha. @MichelleLunato

23rd Haiku Poetry Prompt Challenge ReCap!

Moving Forward there will be Two  A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! Haiku recipients each week. One for Humor and one for more Serious. It was brought to my attention that perhaps if I were giving it to everyone then why even bother. And in truth for those of you who remember I used to choose category recipients early on I suppose this makes sense. Proper structure may become a big decider at times. By structure I mean the 1&2 and 2&3 verses making sentences. But the message, as you all know is always what is more important to me in this challenge. The problem? There are so many great messages that I have to use something. So now, my job just got more difficult. Let the games begin. May your days be long but your poems be short.

January’s Dreamer: When Christmas Comes. Nice Haiku with a great image to go with the words. Excellent. From the site About Page–Until that Day of resurrection when Christ Jesus returns,¹ a Christian is called to be as “a letter from Christ . . . written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”²

Like this site, I’m a work-in-progress, but by God’s grace, He’s still editing.

I am a mother of 3 who is having a bit of a crisis in my life with my emotions…thought that I would work though some of my awkwardness here and hopefully have a moment of epiphany. I love to take photos, although I am not a pro, I do feel that they help me in ways I cannot describe.
My family just gave me my first “Real” camera which I must say, aside from my family, is the best gift I have ever received! Bear with me as I learn how to use it and hopefully capture whatever it is that I am searching for. It looks like it’s going to be a fun, enlightening experience! I welcome all of you to jump on for the ride and please share your thoughts and constructive criticism to help me on my journey!

This was more of a series of Haiku in story form. It is called Renga. I haven’t delved into a challenge for that but you can use that if you wish for the Haiku Prompt Challenge.

Sorry, no light machines or smoke machines. The budget can’t handle it. Hugh threw a tea and coffee party without my knowing it and all the funds are gone. How he got into the RW account I have no idea. I think Cyril must have been involved, there are escarguts on the receipt. I really hope that’s a typo.

I will calm them Pets Enemies would have worked as well considering those in the pictures. I love the first image a lot. The Big 17. That’s Correctamundo folks, here is the 17th Haiku Prompt Challenge Rewind.

Did you make it?

It rhymed, so ignore the structure. But that’s right folks. To get into the Rewind all you had to do was write one and somehow let me know, either with a copy of your link in the comments or a ping back.

I want to say something real quick. The Haiku Prompt Challenge is becoming like a little community of friends. With that in mind please follow each other wherever you are able to. I say each week “what a variety” and each week I mean it. This week really stood out as one where people stretched a bit to find those different meanings. I missed some of our regulars. I am always sad when I have to take a face out of the rewind. I know it is usually only for a week but it still hurts a bit. Yeah, I know, I’m silly, but that’s me.

I did a few Haiku this week as well, just so y’all would remember I knew how. The host has to show his skills at times.

She did the making two sentences with the middle line being the end of one and the beginning of the other and she even slipped in a touch of seasonal imagery. Meredith and Martha of Meredith’s Musings, My Literary Angels provided 2X2 again this week. I chose Thoughts of Love for the title of their offerings as each one dealt with the subject. Someone even suggested the two should think about putting their efforts in a book. They range from humorous to serious. I never know what I’m going to come across from one week to the next. @meredithlbl

Ruth of Mad Meandering Me brought two Haiku this week, Embryo and Unborn. I have to say that I enjoyed and did not enjoy her subject at the same time. One was an aw moment, and the other was a moment of I really don’t know how to explain it. I think that’s why I will say I enjoyed them both in that they brought out those conflicting emotions in me. It wasn’t where I had thought the words would lead anyone but I like to see how minds work.

Cyril Bussiere gave us what I titled “Foolish Thought“. Cyril’s offerings always make my head hurt because they make me think. This week didn’t fail in that area. I’m not certain if he delves deep to find his words or if he just lets them flow. If not delving, I would be frightened how bad head would feel if he did. @cyrilbussiere

Elizabeth of Tea & Paper brought us what I call “Vanishing Gifts“. A enjoyed the Haiku and I love the colors of her blog this week. So festive and cheerful. Much like what I think of her when I see her commenting on people’s Haiku.

 

 

Wendy of Wendy Anne Darling certainly delivered a message with Indian Giver. I would so not want to be on the receiving end of that nor do I understand who would ever be that insane with her. I imagine this must be simply a work of fiction. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! I loved the attitude! @AuthorWDarling

 

Becca of On Dragonfly Wings with Buttercup Tea came up with Thousand Drops of Blood. Becca gave the two sentence structure and the opposing meaning that is key to a true Haiku.  A great meaning in this one and tells a beginning of a story and the end of a story. Angie of Angie Does Until She Doesn’t, don’t you just love that blog name? Okay this week she gives us what I titled “Today is Your Gift!” I shouted because I think sometimes we don’t hear it when we remind ourselves of that message. Go give Angie a Virtual Hug with a Like today as she did some serious overcoming at work this week. Show her how proud we are! Kate of Dazzling Whimsy gives her what I call “Gifts of Devotion“.  Kate only knows one way to write and that is with her heart. It doesn’t matter if it’s about a recipe or a poem, she’ll write it with heart. @17katelee 

 

 

Claudette of to search and find happiness in everything returns to us this week with what I call “Dubious Entanglement“. There is humor here but also seriousness. I suppose it depends on which side of the entanglement you are on.

 

Florence of Rambling On brings what I have named “Denied Honor“. That might not fit exactly but thought about this for a time and thoughts swirled around in this addled mind of mine.  A sad Haiku but then again when you read it from a positive side it is not so sad, and then it is both sad and not sad. I am totally confused now so I will stop. A RONOVAN’S CHOICE! @FTThum

Battered Wife Seeking Better Life wrote my named “Resonating“. The reason for the name is partly that the message of the Haiku resonates with you as you look at it’s meaning and word choices. I always look at the words people use in their Haiku because I think those words as opposed to a different word of similar meaning says a lot. @bwseekingbl

 

What a selection this week. From one end of the spectrum to the other. I think this might have been our most varied take on prompts yet. Kind of puts the pressure on to choose some good ones for #16. I have to put my thinking blanket on for this one.
