Time for a new theme for Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge … this time it’s Group. I won’t lie, when I first saw the theme I was thinking ” I don’t have any group shots!”. You see, my first thought on seeing the word “group” was a photo of a group of people. I have a thing about people photos … I just don’t like taking them. I don’t know why. I just want to photograph landscapes and wildlife 🙂

NOW it’s your chance to highlight your favorite author’s quotes that give inspiration to you as a writer. Do you feel like your writing is getting stale? Are you looking for inspiration to keep writing? Then you have come to right spot!
Each week we will include a theme for anyone who needs additional inspiration. You don’t have to follow our theme if you don’t want to. It is optional.
In fact, Ronovan and I will alternate each week with a themed prompt post written on Silver Threading. This will give you a different perspective weekly to keep your inspiration flowing. Make sure and join us. You never know what we will come up with!

This is my week, and Ronovan will be back next week to share his theme with you. We thought it would be fun to split the brain power needed each week. All of you get hosts that are reasonably fresh and fun to play with each week, so join in!
This week’s theme is “mystery,” or any variation of the word: mystery, mysterious, etc.
So what do you do?

With that being said, you may have noticed the changes in your WordPress Post Editor.
Let’s look at the two obvious ones.
I like it. Now I can see the colors more easily. There were a lot of shades before, which some may have enjoyed. Sure I did too, but now we have the added option of the next thing.
You can change the numbers or click in the rainbow like color bar and then use your cursor to move around within the color box to find just the shade you like. We may have fewer shades preset but now we have so much more available to us.
Next up is the one that freaked me out at first. Yes, I got freaked out. Okay, I didn’t but it was weird for a moment.
When you clink on the Link Icon up in the tool bar of the Post Editor, you now get that lovely little URL Box you see at the bottom of the image. When you are inserting a URL link in your post, like you might do with my Haiku Challenge, you highlight the words and click the Link Icon and then click the little left facing right angled arrow next to the URL box, it’s called Apply. You see it above in a blue box with a white arrow. A little round spoke gear looking thing is just to the right of it.
But you might need to insert a URL into a word or into an image. That’s what we look at next.
This isn’t all that complicated. It’s just an expanded version of what we had before. You get to this by clicking that little spoke like gear next to the Apply arrow I mentioned before. I like this because you get to see a list of recent posts you may want to link to, and it has that nice Search box as well.

What does two years of blogging get you?
I guess that all depends on what you’re looking at. Some might look at numbers, and I did out of curiosity. I was going to post them here but thought that a bit mundane.
Looking at views and then thinking how many likes you get on the same posts can be very telling. I’ve never been fooled by it. I know 50 likes doesn’t mean 50 views. It means about 30 views and the other 20 are mixed between people just clicking like in the WP Reader or on my Home Page. It doesn’t bother me either way. I stopped caring about likes a long time ago. I just share what I have and go on my merry little way.
Again, what does two years of blogging get you?
Friends from all over the world.
A network of people for my Book Review site that I never would have thought of if not for this blog.
A published book that is receiving great reviews. (And you can get for free by signing up for my newsletter.
And finally I got a better version of me.
Before beginning this blog I was in a bad place in regards to health and mind. Now I’m still in a bad place health wise, but my mind is not so depressed as it was before. I realize I can do something on my own schedule which is whenever I have the energy. You may have noticed I apparently don’t have that much energy lately.
I want to thank all of you that are my friends. You know who you are. I thank all those who visit my blog each week and enjoy what they find here.

I am so unbelievably proud at this moment.
Amber Wake: Gabriel Falling, The Razor’s Adventures Pirate Tales is an historical adventure novel written by P.S. Bartlett and Ronovan Hester. Captain Gabriel Wallace had no idea that his presence in a tavern filled with Royal Navy men and sailors relaxing with their companions would lead to his court martial and expulsion from the Royal Navy. When his lieutenant and good friend, Miles Jacobs, mentioned that there was a problem in the upper level of the tavern involving Admiral Hawthorne’s wife, Wallace had no choice but to intervene. The outraged Admiral was ready to shoot the miscreant who had been with his wife right then and there, and he was oblivious to any attempts made to reason with him. In the fray, the Admiral was stabbed and later died, and Wallace was charged with interfering with

Normally I wait a couple of weeks and put out the answers on a Sunday with the next Ask Ronovan post. However, a question was asked I believe needs answering now. Obviously the word here is LOVE but the letters are not lining up. Let’s see what I can do. If you’ve been paying attention, you realize I am able to help Ann.
What Ann is asking is how to indent like we do in Word. Here in WordPress and other blog platforms, everything is aligned left to be flush with the left hand side of the content area. I’ve been indenting during this article so far. In fact I am using one of my favorite pieces of HTML script. I’ll type the characters out separately since I am typing in the TEXT tab of the POST EDITOR. If I did the script all together, you wouldn’t see it.

You see 6 characters above. Delete the spaces between the characters and then put the combined script before the first character of your sentence. For example, here in this paragraph as well as the ones earlier, I used 9 of these to create this many spaces.
Let’s try making the poem I wrote line up properly.

It works. The best thing to do in order to check you are lining up correctly is to use your preview button and check it out. REMEMBER with HTML if you switch to the VISUAL TAB during the creation of the post, you lose your script and have to start over. Until you hit PUBLISH, you will lose your script if you switch over. That’s why I typed the code above with spaces. I’m in the TEXT TAB.

You can also use this SCRIPT inside of a sentence. Sometimes I’ve wanted to have things space just a touch bit different in a sentence. It’s like the POST EDITOR wants things to line up a certain way and hates me. Well, you can place the code like so a n d have it do what you like. Now that may look just like a normal space, but how often have you seen something you do and it just won’t take the normal space bar space? Well, use the script and it’ll work.

This past weekend and early part of the week was an impromptu vacation for me. It was the first time in 8 years I had been more than an hour and a half from my home.
I intentionally left my laptop and tablet behind. In their place I had a pad of paper and a pen. My phone was the only electronics I had on me and it was used to take some photos…
…and phone my parents upon arrival at the hotel. The hotel was great. I think it could’ve slept 10 adults or 5 of me. A Jacuzzi everywhere you looked on the ground floor around the pools. 6 pools, most of those were heated. Full kitchen. The last hotel at the end of the beach before residential areas, across from a golf course, and a yacht club, made for a very nice, quiet time. All at a very great price.
With that knowledge now in your hands, you may understand that I am a bit behind on some commitments. Maybe not behind according to agreements, but according to my own personal preference. Blogging will be sparse the coming week until I…

Why do I put this quote forward as my choice for the challenge today? Credibility is king to a writer. If you put forth a piece of garbage, that’s what you get in return.
I’ll put it like this:
When putting one’s self into the public eye for critique and scrutiny, one must ensure to plant their feet deeply and firmly to withstand the gale force winds that are coming.
It took a long time for me to let a work of mine see the light of day. I am overly critical of my writing. I want every line to be perfect, every plot to make sense. I want everything covered. Even to this day I see how a sentence here or there could’ve gone in another direction. Yes, I am that obsessive about wanting to put that level of quality in front of a reader.
I know the first impression you make on a reader is very important, second only to the most recent impression you make. At any moment, a reader may suddenly dislike your storytelling.
For me, I slave away at character development, plots, subplots, and continuity of story and character. If my storytelling is bad, I can understand that, but those other things, I can’t abide by. That’s my personal preference, credo, what have you.
That’s my credibility on the line, in my eyes.
As a writer, remember that what you write, the solidness of it, the quality of it, is your credibility. If you take shortcuts with your work, you care nothing for your credibility.

Hello Everyone,
If you see my book available anywhere but Amazon, please let me know. I’ve only given permission for it to be on that site. I’m finding it has been pirated and am quite unhappy about it. As many people may know, one of my best friends is an attorney, and I am very unhappy that my very first book is out there like this. Considering I have e-copies I want to give away very soon, this really is annoying. I’m pretty easy to get along with in regards to people reading the book, but stealing is something else. Interviewers and the like have received copies and I know they are honest. I know people can do a lot electronically to recreate the product, but it’s just wrong. This book took a year to get to the finished product.
