#5

Welcome to this weeks Haiku prompt challenge.

If you want to refresh yourselves on a bit of Haiku in English, although you do not have to stick to that particular style of Haiku, it’s just my particular style to use, click here.

For Tips and Guidelines refreshers click here.

This weeks two words to use in some form, meaning you can use another word that means the same thing are:

Cold & Heat

Here is my example just to give you something to spark the thoughts if need be.

(A little bit of humor this week from me.)

The snowbirds travel,

Far from the seasons of cold,

and heat they do flee.

Be sure to put a link to your Haiku in the comments below so we can all go check them out. I’ll comment and also choose the ones that knock me down for one reason or the other and link back to them in my Weekly Rewind telling people how great they were and why I picked them. Eventually these will turn into categories.

Much respect

Dianne of Sweeter than Honey :  Still a master of the images. I’m not putting her image here this week. I think she might unfollow me if I do.

Kate of Dazzling Whimsy  : Loved all three images this week! Using her own photography to do the challenge is awesome, except for the last one is not hers, but that one is just cool.

Make sure to visit each one.  And make sure to Follow each one as well.

REWIND #4

The prompt words were Acceptance & Rejection.

Thank you to each person that participated. I greatly enjoyed seeing the results. Reading them makes me want to push myself a little more in my own Haiku.

Cyril of Cyril Busierre : Ah, the Romantic in Cyril came out this week. I am assuming the Romantic?

Love Happy Notes : A mermaid! 🙂

Florence T of Rambling On : Florence does the philosophical this week but also the rather poignant.

CASEYLOVE’S : Must read Haiku. Seriously.

Silver Threading : Another philosophical Haiku. I had to stop and think about this one. Very appropriate choices of words and imagery. Very nice.

Faith Unlocked : Enjoyed this one, especially here on Sunday. A very clear an concise message.

Some deep thinking this week. It was either that or the authors just really touched on subjects that hit home with me.

The Laughable Cheese of Welcome to Writers Town

I walk across sand.
Smile babes I love you, swim free.
Row your faith ashore.

Faith Unlocked

Footprints in the sand
Reveal the Lamb’s love foretold
Floating across seas

Kate of DazzlingWhimsy

She walks miles away
Smile Babe my love will follow
With God, World is ours

Walking on the beach,

Her smile tells a love story,

Drifting across miles.

I think I am getting a little better at the images. Let’s see what I do this week. One thing to remember about this challenge . . . as long as your Haiku makes sense with the images and fits the syllables . . . are you really wrong if it’s not what I created?

Number of words:

Line one-4

Line two-6

Line three-3

Quick reminders:

3 Lines of poetry with the first line having 5 syllables, the second 7, and the third 5. If you get stuck, visit the Haiku Challenges Guidelines page. You need to insert words such as ‘the’ where they fit. Keep the syllables in mind.

Post your Decipher in the comments. You can guess as many times as you like, but please don’t look at the other guesses if you are going to make additional guesses. That just wouldn’t be fair, now would it?

Wordless Haiku ChallengeI first want to thank DazzlingWhimsy for creating this badge for the challenge.

Welcome to the Weekly Wordless Haiku Challenge #4.

The rules are simple: For how to write a Haiku in English and using the 5/7/5 syllable pattern click here.

No words or numbers of any kind can appear in the images you use. This includes sign language . . . of any kind.

Moon Shadow of a Woman Tango DancersHeartbeat Stumbling Sign Man Falling Men Going in a BuildingHands in Shape of Heart Two arms with infinity tattoos

This is an example of one I created last week.

The Haiku was:

Moon Shadow Dancers

Heartbeats Stumble, falling in

Love Infinity

I know, not the best but it was better then the first one I posted.

Here’s the challenge; You created your own wordless Haiku for Wednesday or any day really, then either post a link in the comments here for everyone that visits to go see and/or ping back (or copy the URL for this post into your Haiku post) to this post in your Haiku post.

I will read it and comment on it. Once I comment come get the badge.

If some of you would like a theme to prompt you what to begin thinking of you can perhaps use. . .

Ocean & Desert

What do the words mean to you, and how can you connect the two words through that second line? You do not have to do the prompt, it is just a prompt to make you start thinking of things.

REWIND #3

The prompt words were Chaos & Calm.

Thank you to each person that participated. I greatly enjoyed seeing the results. Reading them makes me want to push myself a little more in my own Haiku.

Cyril of Cyril Busierre : Cyril brought a poem that was universal in nature and actually I felt identified me in many ways. This one stopped me as I read it and reread it. Even now I have read it through several times putting this Rewind together. An excellent Haiku.

Hilary of The Joy of Writing : Hilary brought her vacation home and shared it with us in this Haiku. You instantly knew what she was talking about in the few short lines and you wanted to escape.

Florence T of Rambling On : Florence writes a Haiku this week that can bring many meanings from the superficial immediate thoughts to various philosophical thoughts that my have Freud examining you in your dreams.

Kate of Dazzling Whimsy  : I appreciate that Kate includes this challenge in her busy life. If you don’t know what I mean you need to visit her site and see her photography and the stories with them. This weeks Haiku tells of her daughters athletic activities. Three girls, three athletes for three different squads, with three different schedules, I don’t really get where she ever has calm.

Eloise of Thoughts by Mello-Elo  : This week has been a crazy one for Eloise and I appreciate her involvement. I enjoyed this one a great deal as he gave my imagination sparks for thoughts of the sea and ships and such. You will need to read it for yourself.

I believe the Haiku offered this week were amazingly strong. The imagery each one provided hit in with each Haiku. I appreciate everyone that participates.

John Mark of The Artistic Christian  is the Inspirational Wordless Haiku of the week.

Dianne of Sweeter Than Honey as the Creative Wordless Haiku of the week. Dianne really does know how to use the images. We try to make out more than what’s there but when she reveals the answer you see she told you exactly what the words were the entire time. Very nice. So Nice I have to put her image here this week. Now you see why she’s so good at this. She’s pretty as a picture herself. (Sorry John Mark, you have to admit she’s prettier than you.)

RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Prompt Challenge #2 Rewind

RW Weekly Haiku Challenge

REWIND #2

The prompt words for Challenge #2 were Turtle and Snail.

I think a lot of people went with the land loving Tortoise on this one instead of the smooth water gliding Turtle but that’s okay. The contrasts were two fold here in land and sea as well as the smooth and relatively fast pace of the Turtle compared to the must be moving Snail because they are never there when you look later on.

Click the site links to go to each Haiku.

Kate of DazzlingWhimsy gave a really deep thought Haiku this week. I really enjoyed it and . . .  well just go look.

Cyril of Cyril Bussiere got the Turtle instead of Tortoise here but I am still wondering how long it stayed there for that Snail to get to where it did.

Honua of Embracing a Wounded Soul did a great job. I loved the image she used. I still laugh each time I see it. Yes, I am laughing now. Your screen is shaking, right?

The Laughable Cheese of Welcome to Writers Town . . . well . . . I laughed. There is a bit of dry wit there.

Eloise of Thoughts by Mello-Elo nailed it this week. I have to truly name her the Big WORDsmith this week. Luckily I remembered she had written one.

Florence T of Rambling On gave us two selections. The first was quite good, the second . . . quite tasty.

Marcy of Illustrated Poetry gets the scientists award this week. 🙂 I really should make up awards like that. Who would have thought of using T-rex?

Thank you to each person that participated. I greatly enjoyed seeing the results. Reading them makes me want to push myself a little more in my own Haiku.
