Someday – a poem.

Someday

I had the plan, so close to shore,

then with one word, it all shattered.

That just proved I never mattered,

that I wasn’t wanted anymore.

~

It will come, that day we yearn for,

the one we share in our night dreams.

Remember our night of moonbeams,

when the air went quiet and still?

Love so large, the stars could not fill,

yet, I must wait, through muffled screams.

NO! – a poem.

NO!

As the end wept upon the land,

we could hear the approaching fall.

Justice answered the trumpet’s call,

trusting the fight to her troop’s hand.

Fate trembles with haste to expand,

through misdeeds by her shameless foe.

Past foolish decisions now crow,

“Wait—no—this was not meant to be.”

They beg the nation, “Hear our plea.

Heal honor, shout, no…no… NO!”

But Never the Biebs- a poem.

But Never the Biebs

Do you think you’re out of your class?

Does your breath bring weeping to eyes?

No matter how small all hope dies?

All things come but they also pass.

Don’t fret, you can be in disguise.

Like Hugh Jackman…maybe Brad Pitt?

Or as low as a Tay Tay Brit?

I guess I’ll give you just one tip

You may fall far but don’t dream slip.

Failure is when you choose to quit.

Ew Gross or A Stalker Gawk Cur- a poem.

Ew, Gross

or

A Stalker Gawk Cur

A Taco Bell date got you cussed.

That former flame turned out her light

when your wallet became too tight.

Your love life has turned into dust,

and now Friday nights are a bust.

Your face is a lunatic smile

while stalking her twitter profile.

Dude, that brain of lust should be trussed.

Not good at all, but I needed to write. So, I did.

A Boy’s Folly – a poem.

A Boy’s Folly

It’s that happy time of the day

When crickets crick and froggies frog

And pirates sing after their grog

On paradise beach huge waves spray.

Then from the dunes comes a girl’s, “HEY!”

Up pops a boy not beyond eight,

Running from a fine lass’ fast gait.

She wasn’t happy not at all.

Her top parts hid by a beach ball.

When Sis nabs him, he won’t see straight.

To Have Love – a poem.

To Have Love

With the last sun’s set, I now know,

through passion and prayer, I willed,

my mind, my heart, my soul be filled

with your love, bright like the sun’s glow.

Now the light in my world will grow.

Each moment is like a new day,

with a brand new story to say.

For inspiration to be wise,

being given the finest prize,

I’ll pen for you a rondelet*.

*coming Thursday.

Now Democracy – a poem.

Now Democracy

Life is a spec of illusion

in this moment of history,

in this hour for empathy,

we are ripe with no delusion.

To  gain victory’s conclusion

into the storm’s eye, we must go,

against the rage-fueled inferno.

With spirit of a promised land,

and power of the strong right hand,

freedom fires in our hearts shall grow.

To Peace and Pride- a poem.

To Peace and Pride

Souls seek to make right the wrong,

by the resetting of the mind,

and the relearning to be kind…

the steps of healing… will be strong.

The path of progress will be long,

first highs then lows to overcome,

by strength, by faith we’ll succumb.

With the liberties of this land,

equally in each person’s hand…

peace and pride… will finally come.

Doomed Duck- a poem.

It feels like this brain’s been interred,

for I can’t seem to get inspired.

My genius has expired, it’s tired.

Oops, did Daffy just gird his bird?

Aargh, this confounded absurd word.

I’m just too stubborn to admit,

I should’ve ducked, I should’ve quit.

This head up here is Grade…A…Prime.

I never have grief with a rhyme.

It’s done, never shook, not one bit.

One week I do an alliteration Décima. Now this week, this catastrophe. Next week I’ll write one on Sunday before everyone else writes the good ones. I like to be original. Even if it is originally bad. (Maybe I’ll write the Décima first, then pick the challenge word. Yeah, that”s the ticket.)

Suppressed Youth – a poem in plain English… sort of.

This is what the alliteration masterpiece of yesterday meant, in almost plain English.

Good old boys with their good old ways,

influence minds newer of thought,

who know what voters want and sought.

Life long hand shakers give crass gaze,

causing new hopes dashed in a haze.

The old guard’s ways stay close and true.

Their weak platform made young minds spew.

Leaders are out of touch with time,

while hard-fought wins are in their prime.

Toady Congress brought want for new.

Suppressed Youth – a poem.

Daily dancing dalliance,

invades innocent intentions,

in insightful interventions.

Stately statesmen stage stalwart stance,

choking challengers’ cheerful chance.

Tragic traditions translate true.

Flawed floor flaunted… fledgling flames flew.

Strictly strait strategy stride’s strange.

Chad champions chiming–choose change.

Crap Congress crafted crowds craved crew.

I am never trying this again. Well, at least not for another week…or three.

Untitled 1 – a poem.

It’s time we disconnect the net.

Be calm, take breaths then weave and wind

on the path, to a refreshed mind.

Step back, work your alphabet,

and make a feel-good novelette.

Or it could be about a cause,

with depth, to make a genius pause.

Maybe write a steamy romance.

One to make your mom look askance.

Be creative and bring applause.

The End of a Line – A Décima Poem

The End of a Line

Enshrine their, her, and his story.

While they bathed the ages in lye.

one still in iron, one a tie,

one a boss, one inventory.

One has choice, one mandatory.

One in front, the other the back.

The line starts here and ends in black.

The future is rising, grab that ring.

Make lady justice’s scale swing.

No slowing down, stay the attack.

A Racist Confessed – A Décima Poem

A Racist Confessed

I confess that I’m a racist.

Looking away from bigotry.

Angry at one man’s bended knee.

Knowing that blue on black exists.

Hoping proof shows the black resists.

Loving the colors of all skin?

Bet on who I’ll blame the break-in.

Time all these lies become past tense.

Pray man comes to a common sense.

Confess we’ve held down our own kin

This Décima was inspired by this week’s Décima by Vocabularical (Is that not the best name for a wordsmith?)-  Décima Challenge: Sense. That’s the name of his entry post. THE DC MEN- A Décima Poem

The DC Men

‘The powers that be’ say stay calm,

and wait till a little later.

But now’s the time that is greater.

Keep 119:60 a just Psalm,

carried out in your righteous palm.

Look at that divinely sent ten.

Are they kept bye those DC men?

If only they’d done as they should

we would be saying ‘all is good’,

But now….off to the lion’s den.

I used LATER as a Synonym for NEXT. I didn’t like the first poem I put out.

Forensic Goof- A Décima Poem

Forensic Goof

You thought your term was bulletproof.

Then there’re rumors of your sext text.

So what’re you going to do next.

You’re now a political goof,

turned into an SNL spoof.

But with a  big enough check.

you’ll save this runaway trainwreck.

The New York Times puts it in print,

On no, here comes the New Your Post.

Now you’re thinking of that almost.

That check you wrote… has your thumbprint.

I did around four other poems but they were too serious. I wanted something light and maybe a bit funny this week. So after two hours, a night of sleep, and another 30 minutes, you get that.

Onward Ever Onward – A Poem

Inspired by I Have A Dream by Martin Luther King Jr.

Onward Onward

Injustice justifying ire.
Tyrannical tendency reigns,
pumping vitriol through piggish veins,
inciting peaceful frauds to spark fire,
frauds dragging the cause in the mire.
Schemes bringing change through reaction,
the skilled opponent’s distraction.
The Peaceful Prophets will prevail,
their path of discourse will not fail,
pressing on to satisfaction.

Still Not Satisfied

Inspired by I Have A Dream by Martin Luther King Jr.

Still Not Satisfied

A man once said he had a dream.
For this nation falters in stride,
every man resistant by pride.
A man held in so high esteem,
his end caused the earth to scream.
His beliefs inspire those denied,
judged by the color of their hide.
The waters still have not rolled free,
while the stream is far from mighty.
And still, he is not satisfied.

A Foolish Vow: a Décima Poem.

My entry for this weeks Décima Poetry Challenge No. 6 EYE. (A New Challenge here on ronovanwrites.com)

A Foolish Vow

Threading his way through the thick crowd,
he takes pains to draw not an eye.
For which of these could be their spy?
His escape must not be allowed,
as to their master they have vowed,
if not alive … then severed head?
Would a bloodied corpse do instead?
But their mission will bring but pain,
cause each life will drain from each vein.
With their fate no tears will be shed.

Gypsy Quest

She disappeared without a trace.
He does not know her by her name.
Still, his love burns hot as a flame.
The one clue is her scented lace,
delicate as a cloud’s embrace.
He determines he is to locate
the one he calls his gypsy mate.
His heart beat strongest facing west,
that direction begins his quest.
for his thirst no other will sate.
