RonovanWrites 78th #Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Review

Humor and comments are lean this week. Difficult time focusing. Don’t you hate being human sometimes? If you have a Twitter and don’t see your Twitter Handle below, let me know so I can add it. Some sites do not have their handle showing in their Twitter share option on their posts. I have to put in the handle from knowing they have one when I share the post on Twitter. How to get your Twitter Handle to show when people Share your blog articles.

If you do not see your Haiku listed below, make certain the ping back or your comment with the link is in the comments of the Challenge Post. This year I won’t be checking for those who may have missed notifying the Challenge Post, in some way, of participation. Unfortunately it takes way too long to complete the review in that manner. My apologies if that offends anyone.

Thank you for so many checking their ping backs.

For Author’s with no comments, the links go to the last Haiku they had in the Challenge. As long as they’ve participated multiple times, whatever that number means to me, I leave them here as a way to help spread the word of their work. They are also in alphabetical order if they entered this week.

New Offenders!

NEW! Andre Jayaprana: Great Sphinx | andrejayaprana. An interesting Haiku and image. A MUST READ & VISIT. It sent me to the search engines to seek out some of the meanings in the Haiku. Y’all know I love doing things like that and learning. “lifelong learner, lifelong journey”

NEW! 1000hoursleft (Mek): Watering Hole | Work In Progress. Three NATURE Haiku, with a slightly different take on the same theme. “10000hoursleft* is a writer based in Central Victoria, Australia. Her intention in creating this blog (aside from the many hours of procrastination it offered in setting up) was to have a home for practicing the craft of writing. You can read her writer’s manifesto here.”

NEW! OBA: Sunshine kissing Sand | The king’s oracle.  OOOOO, went to the search engines for one reference in this Haiku. Love me some learning. “Hello World, I am OBA and where the word of the king is there is power. My blog is called the king’soracle . I am a wife and mother to two great boys. I am addicted to Jesus. I used to wear a hooded T-shirt  with that slogan written all over it, in my teenage years. I am an Indie christian recording artiste with the mandate … click to read more.” @obapathway

NEW! Crow: Poem 20160105 | Caw!. An interesting perspective of things. I oddly take a meaning for myself from this, that I am certain is not meant, but that’s what it’s all about, right? I’m a guy who writes. I write. I write fiction. I write poetry. I show the poetry here. I have not published the fiction. I also program (for a living, but not independently). I live in Southern California, where I have lived my entire life. I sometimes think I would like to live in Hawaii. I have, however, never been there. And if I lived there, I would have to constantly try to remember how to spell Hawaii without looking like I was trying to remember it…click to read more.” @Crow

Swan Mothers by Natalia ErehnahNEW! Natalia Erehnah (Author): Here Comes the Sun | Weaving Gold. An interesting thought with that last line. “I am an evolving hueman, transformed mother, novice (indoor, so far) rock climber, ardent reader, and a writer exploring ancient, controvertible  history and past lives…I live in Southeast Michigan and am in search of a spiritually-leaning writers’ circle…click to read a great deal more, informative stuff.” Interesting site. Obviously Natalia is an Author, and you can check out her Book, Swan Mothers, on her site synopsis as well as at her Amazon page at the author link in red above. 21 out of 25 reviews are 5 STAR reviews. #Motherhood, #SpecialNeeds, and #Parenting. @swanmothers

NEW! Suzanne Miller: Getting clear | Art and Life. A true cleansing post. Sharing a lot to let go of a lot. You know, I’ve seen her blog so much that I would swear she’s been in the challenge before, but if so, you’re meeting her again. “I’m an artist and a writer with a background in living on a shoestring and making do. Expressing myself creatively brings me great joy and I love to share my work with the world.”

First to Offend this Week!

Florence: Free Your Mind | Meanings And Musings. I went a bit crazy with the video I posted on the reblog, but if you’ve read her Haiku, you just might get why I thought of that song title. @FTThum

LIFE

Alice: Age | Boomerang Zone. Two pieces of life advice here. Good luck with it. @Vidocq_CC

Ared (anghulinghugotero): A Haiku for My Heart | ANGHULINGHUGOTERO. Getting some romance on.

Hugh Roberts: Hey, Mister DJ! | Hugh’s Views and News. Get ready to pump up the volume…DANCE DANCE. @RobertHughes05

Dancing Hugh Roberts

Clarence: Oligarchy | PrarieChat. Clarence to the Dark Side of the…no not THAT dark side.

Mira: vastitude | They, You and Me. Seriously big words this week. @BediMona

Kat: Vastly Clear | like mercury colliding. Very nice Haiku and great image to go with it. MUST READ

Oneta Hayes: Drunk Driving | Sweet aroma. Makes a point with a touch of levity in the matter-of-fact presentation.

Greg: My Weary Soul | Potholes in the Road of Life. Had to scratch my head a moment with this one. Not so much with the message of the Haiku, but the word find. @greg_wolford

Ritu: Empty Headed | But I Smile Anyway. Okay, so I sort of had fun with the title of this one. You’ll find out why it fits when you visit. @PhantomGiggler

Carolyn Injoy: Clouded Thoughts | Reviews & Recommendations. Another that could go NATURE in one sentence then LIFE in the next, but overall I decided on life.

Sandra: Game | Wild Daffodil. A peek inside the LIFE of Daffilicious..

Colleen Chesebro: Silver Surfer | SilverThreading. There are several reasons I gave this one the title I did. At least one sill be obvious to each person. For some both reasons might. Good luck with that. @ColleenChesebro

JustMaria: No Distance | Doodles and Scribbles. I like how the image with this one can look to be different proportions. Nice choice to go with the Haiku. @ciisalveni

Kim M. Russell: Canopy | Writing in North Norfolk. A canopy of scope in this Haiku.

Al: Al’s Positive Haiku  | A Certain Point of View. The title says it all. Of course then he throw’s that image up and now I’m depressed, stuck in the cold and in the middle of a state, nowhere near an ocean. Hrmph! @AlistairLane

Meredith & Martha: Monarch Butterflies by Meredith and The Dawning/Capacity by Martha | Meredith’s Musings. Great Haiku as always. Loved seeing pictures of the home and family. It’s always nice to see peeks into the lives of the community members. @Meredithlbl

Elusive: Quantum | Elusive Trope. I may have to come up with a new CATEGORY for this guy … and a few others. Something like PHILOSOPHICAL.

Pancake Bunnykins: Somewhere In My Past | A Real Messy Beautiful Twisted Sunshine.  Love is in the … um … air? Well that is where mine would be considering what this Haiku is about. For those who know me well enough, they’ll know what I mean. I being funny man.

Olga:  Clarity | Stuff and what if. A lot of people are getting this thought from the prompt. I did as well. It’s a nice thought to have.

TJ Paris: Childhood Treasures |La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. I love how our friend TJ combined two challenges for this one. For one reason, we get to have another photograph from him. I greatly enjoy his Haiku but his photography is always my favorite part. There is a story behind each one. @Roccoco_a_GoGo

Sarina River of Dreams | Shining Seeds Billy Joel inspired.  @shiningseeds

Wesley Hollifield: Infinite | NearlyWes. I think another Freku from Wes this time. Freku isn’t a strict form as much as an idea of sharing. Thus you have a long from poem followed by a Haiku.

Jen (JK): Infinite Consciousness | The Secret Keeper. I so dislike having to type the word consciousness. Ever since the movie As Good As It Gets came out, I’ve had a problem spelling it.  @occultguardian

Melissa: Equally Unique & Special | The Aran Artisan. The Aran Island Girl gets a bit starchy this will. Will she end up mashed or baked? Maybe we’ll find out soon. Melissa and one of our other Haikumily members, Sandra the Daffy one, helped compile this years list of ‘photo word of the week‘ challenge. You have the words ahead of time and can plan ahead and have weeks of blog posts ready and set to go. She and Daffy like to combine the photo and the Haiku challenges into one. That spreads the post around to people with different interests. @TheAranArtisan

Janice: Breath of Fresh Air | Ontheland. A thought about the New Year. @ontheland1

Denis: Thinking | Haiku hound. Three Haiku with photography nailing the imagery in each one.

Dr. Kottaway: Open Your Broken Heart | KO Rural Mad As Hell Blog. A personal bit of poetry this week. And some good advice.

Janice: Vast Opportunities | Ontheland. Making a list and deleting it twice, makes Janice’s life all clean and nice. @ontheland1

Marjorie Mallon: Nothing New, Kills Me | KYROSMAGICA. She’s so melodramatic. Drama QUEEN alert! Read the post and you’ll get what I’m saying. All in fun. @Marjorie_Mallon

Ronovan: Tea Cups | Ronovan Writes. My offering this week. @RonovanWrites

NATURE

TJ Paris: Still Forest |La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. Do I really need to tell you want this one is about? @Roccoco_a_GoGo

Judy: I Can See Clearly Now … Maybe … Somedays. | Edwina’s Episodes. An interesting fact provided through Haiku. @EdwinasEpisodes

Mira: after the clouds | To Wear a Rainbow. The first line could be about seeing life after a dark circumstance. As a whole, though, I decided to place this in NATURE because this could apply to all forms of breathing life. @BediMona

jazzytower (PR): Desert Waves | Thoughts and Entanglements. An excellent imagery filled Haiku. Opposites in the same description. Now that’s cool.

Teresa Smeigh: Escape | Always A Writer. NATURE far above this week. @TeresaSmeigh

Patricia: Breach | A season and a time. We had these problems where I live this past week, I think it was. Whenever all that heavy rain was coming through. Time seems to flow as quickly as the waters.

Janice: Vast Infinity | Ontheland. I think there is a lot of open space to play with in this one. @ontheland1

Ken G.: In the Pulse of a Star | RIVRVLOGR. I chose NATURE for this one, although there is a touch of human aspect to it. Also my creative mind is seeing way more in that image than it is supposed to.

R. Todd: Clear Night Sky … | A Flash of Fiction. Why is this one making me think Close Encounters of the Third Kind? @psibrone

Janice: Winter Horizon | Ontheland. Cleansing thoughts brought about by blanketed moments.  @ontheland1

Ruby Manchada: Humbled | Whispering Thoughts. Very good imagery with this one.

Janice: Boundless Flight | Ontheland. Always nice to discover your purpose in life.  @ontheland1

Willow: Vista | Willowdot21. I think this one would qualify as a NATURE Haiku.

Becky G:  Sundog | Becky G? Oh, That’s Me! A what? Ah, a quick search and now I know.

Childhood Treasures by @Roccoco_a_GoGo

I loved this post for what all it shares. The memories and the photograph. Click through and check it all out and support his post. @Roccoco_a_GoGo

One reason I liked it is because my parents sold pretty much every toy I had. I only have maybe 3 or 4 things from when I was a kid. Having amnesia, it would be nice to have more things to maybe try and bring back some of those memories. Not having physical things with attachments to them to see and touch is a bit sad at times. Maybe a lot of times.

CHAPTER 1.1 : TREASURES FROM CHILDHOOD

La duchesse d’Erat has introduced a weekly challenge and has suggested a list of your Childhood Treasures; A toy, a smell, a Proustian madeleine, something from the school playground, or maybe a crazy laugh.

I found thinking back on my childhood to identify treasures very difficult. I was very blessed to have a magical childhood so to extricate 6 treasures from it is difficult. To objectify a time is difficult in itself but when childhood to me remains more of feelings and emotions than events or items it becomes even harder.

I collected a few items around the house which do remind me of some treasured memories and share them below.

FRIDAY FICTION with RONOVAN WRITES Prompt Challenge #8

Friday Fiction with Ronovan Writes Challenge

IF YOU WOULD LIKE COMMENTS ON YOUR WRITING, PLEASE NOTE AT THE END OF YOUR ENTRY THE AREAS YOU WISH FOR THE READER TO COMMENT ON, OR IF YOU WISH FOR AN OVERALL OPINION.

If you’ve been here before click Skip To Prompt.

FRIDAY FICTION with RONOVAN WRITES

With decades of writing behind me and daily learning of how to be a better writer, and by daily, I do mean constant, I wanted to give a way for current friends and future finders of this blog a way to push themselves to improve as well.

Through this challenge my hopes are you will:

  1. Find your voice
  2. Step out of comfort zones to discover a genre where your talent truly lies
  3. Perhaps make connections that will help you become a better writer

DEADLINE IS:

23:59 EST (New York Time) Wednesday. I will then have Thursday to complete reading the entries and compiling the links and such. I do read all entries. You can ask any of my Haiku Challenge family/community members.

I DO ASK THAT YOU:

  • Keep it PG as all ages do follow the blog and may click through and read the entries. (C0ntinue for exceptions.)
  • If you do write a piece of fiction that goes past the PG level, copy the link into the comments of this post and make a note of it being such and give the reasons you think it is, such as violence, sexual content, language/profanity.
  • No violence toward children by adults or predatory aspects toward children. I know you may have two kids have a fight. I get that, but I don’t want gratuitous violence such as glorifying bullying. Also I can see you having a kid kicking some bad guy in the face for some reason. I get it.
  • No sexual assault against anyone.

WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR WORK OF FICTION:

Copy and paste your URL in the comments of the challenge post, or do a ping back to this post. This does not mean you must share a link today, Friday, just because the challenge says Friday in it. It means you must return to this post or ping back to this post.

A ping back is copying and pasting the URL of the challenge post into your post. That lets people know about the challenge, sort of, and is one way to let me know you’ve entered. Just make certain to visit back here to see your ping back is showing. Confused? Click HERE to see how to do a ping back.

If your blog is with WordPress, TAG your post as Friday Fiction with Ronovan Writes. This way people may find your work in the WP Reader.

IMPORTANT! For those wishing to participate in the possible FREE eBook Project for Fiction, click HERE for the Challenge Page with information at the bottom along with a form of agreement to fill out.

Click HERE for STRIPPING for FICTION or HOW TO WRITE FLASH FICTION.

Boab treeUse the photo above as inspiration. This is a Adansonia gregorii or boab tree found in Australia. I see a lot of possibilities for stories from this one, ranging across genres. This week, don’t worry about word count and let the mind go where it wants.

I know some of you are doing a series, but I can see how this tree could fit in with the stories that are ongoing.

Friday Fiction with Ronovan Writes Prompt #7 Entries: THE LINKS

The order appearing is the order in which the entry was received.

GL below stands for the reading Grade Level. Harry Potter is a GL of around 5. Tolkien is around GL 6.5.

The Writers with The Links

The Newborn
by Teresa Smeigh (Writing is my Life)
Tessa makes a mad dash to the hospital with a newborn a lot less stressful in a lot of stressful ways. Humor was the goal this week and she accomplished that, even though it wasn’t where she originally intended to go with the 7th installment of her series. 281 words. GL of 5.6.

How not to start the New Year
by KL Caley (New2Writing)
A great start for our new to the challenge member. I have a bad feeling this was based on fact rather than fiction. Isn’t that where the best humor comes from? At least she can laugh about it, or maybe this was a cathartic endeavor. 283 words and 7.3 GL.

Purple Haze
by Kat Myrman (like mercury colliding…)
Hooch for the pooch brings about an intoxicating smooch. Kat pulls out all the stops in her Humor piece this week. 255 words. 6.8 GL.

Caring For Your Schnauzer by Ima Le’Amature
by Meredith Haynes (Meredith’s Musings)
This week Meredith shares a chapter from a book that’s helped her with Nick all this time. Um, sort of. Chuckles and squeaker toys abound. You know that combination can’t be good … for the owner, not the Schnauzer. 487 words and 5.3 GL.

Stag Don’t
by Ritu (But I Smile Anyway…)
Where does her mind go for these things. The next prompt might be for her to explain what happened in this one. 142 words, 3.2 GL.

Feverish-Part One
by Melissa Barker-Simpson (Author Blog)
Talk about Cats and Dogs. Melissa gives us a sci-fi/fantasy type trip here. And it’s only part one. 1003 words and a 4.6 GL.

Cat’s Rule
by R. Todd (A Flash of Fiction)
Seeing inside the minds of Cats and Dogs. This is evil. And I somehow think it just may be true. 338 words and a 2.8 GL.

The Right and the Wrong Umbrella
by Alka Girdhar (Magnanimous Word)
Alka thought there wasn’t much humor here, but she was only being modest. Her style gives a subtle touch to humor and you begin to chuckle because you see what’s coming before she tells you. Very nice. 324 words at a GL of 4.8.

Fluffy, the Matchmaking Cat
by Michelle ‘Nato’ Lunato (Chasing Life and Finding Dreams)
Seduction, romance, humor, and a cat toy? I enjoyed this one a lot. She’s got some promise. 845 words. GL of 2.4.

Humor on Thursdays. Cause we NEED IT!!!

A little fun for today. Why? BECAUSE WE NEED IT!!! We’ve blogged too much already!!! LAUGH A LITTLE!!!!

And now here is your laugh for today. Enjoy.

“…bright and clear as the vast sky…” Finding your way to Writing.

How do you become a creative and imaginative person? You free your mind. You wipe clean the day’s aggravations, disappointments, and responsibilities. During this time you’re mind will give you those moments of  Ah HA and Eureka.

“Always keep your mind as bright and clear as the vast sky, the great ocean, and the highest peak, empty of all thoughts. Always keep your body filled with light and heat. Fill yourself with the power of wisdom and enlightenment.”-Morihei Ueshiba

Morihei Ueshiba Quote of Enlightenment.
Morihei Ueshiba created the martial art Aikido. For him, it was not only a form of defense, but a spiritual endeavor as well. In fact he gives credit to three moments of enlightenment for the creation of the martial art.
“I felt the universe suddenly quake, and that a golden spirit sprang up from the ground, veiled my body, and changed my body into a golden one. At the same time my body became light. I was able to understand the whispering of the birds, and was clearly aware of the mind of God, the creator of the universe.
At that moment I was enlightened: the source of budō [the martial way] is God’s love – the spirit of loving protection for all beings …
Budō is not the felling of an opponent by force; nor is it a tool to lead the world to destruction with arms. True Budō is to accept the spirit of the universe, keep the peace of the world, correctly produce, protect and cultivate all beings in nature.”
I don’t know about all of you, but it’s when I let my thoughts go that I end up with the best ideas. There have been times a point in a book I’m writing is giving me problems. I can’t continue until I get that problem fixed. When I finally decide it will come when it comes, that’s when it comes.
You can’t trick yourself into it. You must learn to relax and know when writing, that writing is a matter of time. Not your time, but its time. If you force a plot, it will read as forced. Through time, patience, and practice, you learn how to let go and move on.
Trust me on this, I’m working on letting go at this moment with a Historical Fiction piece I am working on, and part of it came in the middle of the night as I was drifting off to sleep.
Morihei Ueshibe; December 14, 1883 (Tanabe, Wakayame, Japan-April 26-1969 (Iwama, Ibaraki, Japan).
An Interesting Fact: In order to be enlisted in the Japanese military in the Russo-Japanese War, Ueshibe tied weights to his legs and stretched his spine a half inch in order to reach the 5’2″ minimum height requirement.
The reason I chose this quote today was because I searched for one to use with my challenge words on my Weekly Haiku Challenge. I searched for vast quotes and this is the one I found and enjoyed. The Haiku I created goes along with this somewhat. Tea Cups.

RonovanWrites #Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt #Challenge #78 Vast&Clear

Thesaurus: Vast, Clear.

I want to thank the people that visit the Challenge here and the Review as well. I would like to give the Top 5 Most Sites that ended up being visited from links on the Challenge. The number of visits by site originally appeared next to each blog below but I thought that was sharing information that was no one’s business but theirs and mine. And not really mine. As long as people are being visited, I’m good with it.

Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge Image 2016

Challenge #78

The Guidelines are simple.

  1. Take the two words and write a Haiku. I use Haiku in English as my style, which is 5 syllables for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the third, but you can use what you like. The link above has links within it to articles about how to write Haibun, Tanka, and even a new form I created called Freku. You can also do the 3/5/3 form if you like. Write, share, and have fun. For syllable help visit HowManySyllables.com. (You would be surprised at how many syllables some words actually have.)
  2. The two words can be used as you like. Words have different definitions and you can use the definitions you like. You can even use a synonym word as long as it does not change the meaning. Go to Thesaurus.com for Synonym help.
  3. Copy the link of your finished haiku URL  in a comment so we can all go and visit your site to see what you have done. You can do a ping back. What’s a ping back? Put the URL link in the address bar of this post, if you like, within your post. Your inclusion of the link encourages others to try the challenges out, be creative, and join a community to find friends and more followers (hopefully). I honestly gain nothing by more people visiting the post. I don’t have ads running I get paid for by your visit. Click HERE for a detailed article on Ping Backs.
  4. You may copy one of the badges/images appearing in this post below or above and place it on your site if you wish, most normally use it within their post. I am not saying you need to, but if you would like to do so then go ahead. It is simply my way of saying thank you for participating. I sometimes make custom images for the week, if time and health permits.
  5. The Challenge is currently BEGINS at 8 AM EST (New York City time) on Mondays. And a DEADLINE is Noon EST (New York City time) on the Sunday following the Challenge Post release.

RonovanWrites 77th #Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Review

Since so many people participated in the challenge this week, in spite of the Holidays and vacations going on around the world, I decided I could at least take a break from having a nervous breakdown over the final phases of my upcoming debut novel release and do a right proper Review. Wish me luck, and may the force be with you.

If you do not see your Haiku listed below, make certain the ping back or your comment with the link is in the comments of the Challenge Post. If you posted after 11 AM EST Sunday, I unfortunately have a family thing to go to and will update the review with any additions when I return. This year I won’t be checking for those who may have missed notifying the Challenge Post in some way of participation.

Kim M. Russell: First Day of January | Writing in North Norfolk. Oh so lovely a first sentenced formed, only to be gufffffawed at by the second. Hey, at least I used guffawed. When was the last time y’all used it? Or y’all and spelled it right? Bunch of no here type people. Hrmph. The way some people are you would think this blog was like going around the world or something. LIFE

Mira: old relationships | To Wear a Rainbow. What’s old is new again, or was that what was new is old again? Oh me achin’ ogooglumbada. It not work so well. @BediMona

Alice: Dread | Boomerang Zone. Through this door you enter a world of intrigue, horror, and imagination. You enter …. the Dread Zone. do Do do do, do Do do do. @Vidocq_CC

Greg: Introspection Time | Potholes in the Road of Life. I think he wrote this one just to use a big word. What do you guys think? The Rev. is getting too polysyllabic for his triubhais. @greg_wolford

Kat: Under the Sun | like mercury colliding. Hmm, she says something about vanity, but according to Carly, it’s only half true. Warren was only a third man enough for her, I guess his Dick Tracy ego is blown in two.

Judy: Positive Thinking | Edwina’s Episodes. Plans are made and goals realistic, for some reason I think, you may be pessimistic. @EdwinasEpisodes

Clarence: Breaking Up | PrarieChat. Clarence gives a piece of advice, you may think you’re stuck, but you never do things exactly the same twice.

Mira: new love | To Wear a Rainbow. You ever wonder if a boyfriend or husband reads a title like this and goes, “Say what?” I mean they are thinking, “What does she mean ‘NEW’ love?” @BediMona

Sarina Optimistic Outlook | Shining Seeds Keeping positive for days ahead.  @shiningseeds

Clarence: Resolution| PrairieChat. Defined by definition, may all things come to fruition.

Ritu: In the Reading of It. | But I Smile Anyway. Depending on when you read Ritu’s 5/7/5 Haiku, which is one of three types she did for the challenge, women may have a packed closet this year. @PhantomGiggler

Clarence: If-Then-Go| PrairieChat. Positive outlook of old misbegotten days, lays waste to the pessimism of the promise of what may come y’alls ways.

Wesley Hollifield: Change | NearlyWes. A feeling and a day that we all go through, but we never learn and we add more, making the days well beyond two. And it’s in the form of my Freku too.

Pancake Bunnykins: A New Chapter | A Real Messy Beautiful Twisted Sunshine.  Timing the ending of her read, to close with the New Year’s Eve. But she has a new one to begin, wonder if it will take a year to end?

Sandra: Joy | Wild Daffodil. A dark experience with a bright ending, with two styles of Haiku, Daffy ain’t a poet pretending.

Al: New Year  | A Certain Point of View. As we enter this brand new year, someone sounds so full of cheer … NOT! Muahahahahahaha! @AlistairLane

VronLacroix: Another Dawn | Simply shots. And I have hit a Fatigue Wall at this point in the Review. So if the review comments get skimpy, now you know why. Looks Vron is on the hunt, maybe she’ll find it on the oceanfront?

R. Todd: Another Year Down … | A Flash of Fiction. A cow calendar would make this awesome. They come with a gift card for a free thing to eat each month. Yes, I’m that random or that hungry. Trying to get my numbers down before blood work. Craving, craving, craving. @psibrone

Jen (JK): New Tales | The Secret Keeper. Addicted to the word, for years from her they never heard.  @occultguardian

Janice: New year’s reflections | Ontheland. Yeah, the brain is tired as I read these. Good ones but can … not … focus. Aieyeieieyeyeee.   @ontheland1

Meredith & Martha: Perfect/Organize by Meredith and Resolution/Determination by Martha | Meredith’s Musings. NICK PICTURE ALERT!! @Meredithlbl

Denis: New Year | Haiku hound. Fear doth abound, and for that reason, Kyoto may never be found. I’m evil. So Evil. As Evil as Evil can beeeeee.

Becky G:  Pathways | Becky G? Oh, That’s Me! Upside down, inside out, wherever he leads, that’s what it’s all about.

Florence: Nothing New  | Meanings And Musings. Florence gives us some mindful type things on which to dwell/Underneath I think she has much more than she is telling in this tale. @FTThum

Ronovan: Generation Inspiration | Ronovan Writes. A Haiku about how one helps another. @RonovanWrites

Ronovan: Spark the Imagination | Ronovan Writes. This one started out as an image to go with Generation Inspiration and by the time I finished creating the image, I had a new Haiku. @RonovanWrites

Cousin Kathy: Perk Up Buttercup | Becky G? Oh, That’s Me?. Some Happy New Year’s wishes and advice from Becky’s talented cousin.

Claudette: Blink | to search and to find. Polaroids, and windowed moments, all here in poetry of  three line persuasions.

Olga:  Loopy | Stuff and what if. Read and see if you get what I mean, if not … the perhaps I’m off my bean.

NATURE

jazzytower (PR): Almost a Double? | Thoughts and Entanglements. A great bit of information, given right here. Looking for that change in the second, blew my mind a bit severe.

Elusive: Cycle | Elusive Trope. Nature is the way of the day, and that’s what Elusive has to say.

Ken G.: Continuity | RIVRVLOGR. Hmm, thinking environmental here a bit. But then you could also go media. Intewesting.

Patricia: It AWAITS! | A season and a time. What happens, you may ask, but to find out what, you must complete the task. Um, of like clicking through, and reading her haiku. (I so did not try to rhyme the two parts of that last sentence. This is getting weird.)

Tolulope Sanusi: Fresh Start | rubys polaroid. What happens in the middle of the night, when you’re all tucked in, nice and tight?

FRIDAY FICTION with RONOVAN WRITES Prompt Challenge #7

Friday Fiction with Ronovan Writes Challenge

IF YOU WOULD LIKE COMMENTS ON YOUR WRITING, PLEASE NOTE AT THE END OF YOUR ENTRY THE AREAS YOU WISH FOR THE READER TO COMMENT ON, OR IF YOU WISH FOR AN OVERALL OPINION.

23:59 EST Wednesday.

If your blog is with WordPress, TAG your post as Friday Fiction with Ronovan Writes and in this way people may find your work in the WP Reader.

IMPORTANT!

For those wishing to participate in the possible FREE eBook Project for Fiction, click HERE for the Challenge Page with information at the bottom along with a form of agreement to fill out.

5 Things I Take Away From 2015.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone for this past year who made it possible for Ronovan Writes to be the success it has been. For a site that started out as a sort of therapy for myself to battle through a lot of issues, it has not only accomplished that, but much more.

I want to share a few things now.

Ronovan Writes 2015

#1

There will be a proper Haiku Review this week.

I’ve allowed pressures to interfere with properly treating those of you who diligently participate in the Haiku Challenge with proper respect. I know there may not be a great number of extra views that come from it, but everyone does receive a few each week and a great many receive at least double digit extra views because of it, and with my dropping the ball that means some of you miss out on those extra visits.

I may not always be able to promise witty reviews with humor or the nice divisions by category, but I’ll have a review out each week from now on unless medical reasons keep me from it. I’ve only missed one so far, last week. And that is eating away at me for breaking that string. I may do one for that week anyway.

#2

I want to share the stats all of you created this year. I haven’t done it, you have. I created a place for you to visit and share your work and in turn others wander through and meander on to your sites, and hopefully become new followers. And in return some of your readers find their way to me. It is much appreciated.

#3

Hugh of Hugh’s Views & News gives me partial credit for helping spread the word about his blog early on with an interview. I don’t know about that, his personality kind of does the trick. He would be a success regardless. Well, I would like to pick up on something I truly enjoyed doing way back then and interview some of you. If you would like, I’ll have a form below for your suggestions of who you would like to see me interview. You’ll notice an email is not required. You can give one if you like, but none is required for something like this.

#4

I want to thank all of you who have visited my new Author site and read the first chapter of my novel. The encouragement I’m getting is a blessing and much needed to calm the nerves. I think we all get nervous during big events in our lives. Doing this as a co-author experience is part of the stress I think, because that means I am either partly responsible for a success, or maybe the cause of someone’s lack of success. The kind words and those of you who have stated you love it and are going to purchase it has help calm me at times.  Thank you.

STATS-Year In Review

Madison Square Garden can seat 20,000 people for a concert. This blog was viewed about 70,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Madison Square Garden, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Where did those people come from?

That’s 138 countries in all!
Most visitors came from The United States. United Kingdom & Australia were not far behind.

The compromise of your ideals is a result of pressure.

“Pray thee, spare, thyself at times: for it becomes a wise man sometimes to relax the high pressure of his attention to work.” Thomas Aquinas
Pressure is a bad thing, and a good thing. It all depends on what you do with it and when it happens. With the release date of my debut novel closing in, pressure is building.
Last night it got to the point my blood pressure was elevated to the point of my being threatened with a trip to the hospital. So I shut everything down and let my mind drift.
Here’s the funny part; my mind drifted to writing. I began writing, in my mind, a companion piece for the debut novel. You see, I love to write and create. The problem is loving your work too much.
I am proud of what I’ve written. I’ve created characters people are enjoying as they beta read. So far everyone has loved it, even those who normally are not Historical Adventure readers or Pirate readers. Although my book is not exactly the normal pirate read.
After a little time, my blood pressure went down a little. Pressure can push you to create, but it can also bring about an end to creation. I’ve taken a step back from my pressure so I can focus on the key moments I need to be able to perform. Pressure can make you miss things.
I’ve learned over the past couple of years how to shut down when those pressure moments get bad. I think its helped me get this far and I suppose I’ll keep at it.
Ronovan Hester Quote about Pressure
“The compromise of your ideals is a result of pressure. The more experience one has with pressure, the harder their resolve becomes to resist that pressure.” Ronovan Hester

“There’s strong data that, within companies, the No. 1 reason for ethical violations is the pressure to meet expectations, sometimes unrealistic expectations.” Stephen Covey

I am pleased to feature an interview with Ronovan Writes, who has kindly invited me here to submit articles for LitWorldInterviews.  I am a self-published author, who enjoys interviewing other authors and people connected with writing.

Ronovan

As well as being an author with a debut novel Amber Wake: Gabriel Falling, coming out in February 2016, Ronovan also provides invaluable resources for Indie authors here on  LitWorldInterviews.com

I also admire Ronovan because, like me,  he is trying to turn a health issue into something positive.

1.  You tell me that you were born of migrant fruit pickers.  How old were you before your parents settled in one place?  Where do you call home now?

As best as I can tell, it was about the time of Kindergarten. I recall taking naps on those floor nap mats each day and swinging in swings to dangerous heights, at least they were high in my mind. Today people would see that…

The prompts for the final Ronovan Writes haiku challenge for 2015 are New and Year

I would like to end this year of great challenges with a great big thank you to Ronovan for hosting this challenge which has been the source of so much creativity and wonderful conversations amongst the devotees of haiku.

Ronovan’s recommendations for writing haiku are quite specific and I like this especially as it adds to the mental challenge to adhere to the structure of 5 7 5 syllables and ideally 2 separate sentences formed from lines 1 and 2 combined and 2 and 3 combined.

Petrarch is known for his Petrarchan Sonnet form and I think we should know this particular…

  1. Take the two words and write a Haiku. I use Haiku in English as my style, which is 5 syllables for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the third, but you can use what you like. For syllable help visit HowManySyllables.com.
  2. Or you can use the 3/5/3 style instead of 5/7/5.
  3. What to do a little bit more with your Haiku? Read Haiku, Tanka, and Haibun. It’s all poetry to me. Learn the difference.
  4. The two words can be used as you like. Words have different definitions and you can use the definitions you like. You can even use a synonym word as long as it does not change the meaning. Go to Thesaurus.com for Synonym help.
  5. Copy the link of your finished haiku URL  in a comment so we can all go and visit your site to see what you have done. I will comment on your site. You can do a ping back. What’s a ping back? Put a link back to this prompt page, if you like within your post, as long as it does not take away from your haiku. This is simply a prompt and challenge to encourage people to try Haiku and give some a prompt and a place to share in comments so we can find each other. A link in your post does give others a chance to find us and join in. Use one of the two below if you like. Click HERE for a detailed article on Ping Backs.
  6. Ping back Link https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2015/12/14/ronovanwrites-weekly-haiku-poetry-prompt-challenge-75-charmlook/
  7. Non Ping back Link https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/
  8. You may copy one of the badges/images appearing in this post below or above and place it on your site if you wish, most normally use it within their post. I am not saying you need to, but if you would like to do so then go ahead. It is simply my way of saying thank you for participating. I sometimes make custom images for the week, if time and health permits.
  9. The Challenge is currently posted at 8 AM New York City time on Mondays to give people a better chance than the old 9 AM time.
  10. Deadline is Noon New York City time on the Sunday following the Challenge Post release.
