Destination? – a poem

Destination?

My heart’s desire fades across time and space, racing the waves.

Yet, no matter the path traveled, my passion remains full and bright.

But should desire be fuel for the attainable or the denied?

This is my entry for this weeks Sijo Poetry Challenge with theme/inspiration of PASSION

There are details in the prompt on how to write a Sijo, a syllable based poetry form similar to a haiku but originating in Korea.

Open Your Mind and Run Free.

We spend most, and in some cases all, of our lives wanting to be something else or growing as a person or as a professional. During all of that time we are also learning to do the thing we keep wanting to be. We wait and wait and wait. 10, 20, or even 30 years down the line we sit down and make a list of what we need to do to be what we want to be. Before we finish the list the headache begins as we realize all the boxes we thought we needed to fill-in to move forward with our dream are being checked off as we go and that most of them were filled in years ago.

For some, that is when we get depressed and give up, thinking we have let it wait to late. Then there are those who stop making that list, throw it away (or delete it) and get to work on dream fulfilling.

Take it from the guy that wrote his first stories and book length manuscripts by the age of 25 but didn’t attempt to publish a book until 45, if you are reading this…start that list…stop after requirement number one. Because you already got it. Now you have time to make up. Get running. (Oh, and buy my Historical Fiction novel at Amazon by clicking on that book cover image on the side of my blog. Hey, I gotta try.)

A better you already exists.

NOW is the time to OPEN YOUR MIND

and let it RUN FREE.

Tremble.

I tremble for you

In this vast void of darkness

I crave all your light.

My whole body weeps.

Tomorrow.

I think about tomorrow,

More than today.

For, tomorrow,

Is where I plan to stay.

Tomorrow,

Is closer every day.

A Great Life.

You ever have someone make you feel as though you were incapable of doing things, like you were an invalid of sorts?

Having Fibromyalgia, among other things, seems to give people some right to make claims over what I can and cannot do. Yes, I will hurt a lot if I exert myself too much. Does that mean I stop living?

“Never stop fighting until you arrive at your destined place – that is, the unique you. Have an aim in life, continuously acquire knowledge, work hard, and have perseverance to realise the great life.” A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. A career scientist turned politician…(Wikipedia)

I guess one needs to determine what their destined place is. Once determined, then decide what fighting means. One also must come to realize what ‘great life’ means for them. Your great life may not be my great life. In fact, I can guarantee it’s not. How can I be sure?
I already know what great life means for me.
It takes a lot to fight. I call it sticking to my guns. Once you make a decision you must follow through with it. Many things will be thrown in your way. Sometimes they even make a lot of sense. You are momentarily sidetracked, waylaid. The goal, the great life is still ahead and still attainable, but the path is now muddied and rather being in a car you’re on foot.
The thing is, why are you now on foot? It’s because you let it happen. You let doubt and fear get in the way. Fear comes in many forms. You may fear some physical reaction. Maybe it’s a form of emotional abuse that attacks you and attempts to prevent you from arriving at your destination.
Yet, here I am, taking steps to enjoy my life. Just because my life doesn’t match the everyday ordinary vanilla expectations of those around me doesn’t mean that it’s wrong. It doesn’t mean it’s bad. You would be surprised at how little in my life these past few years would have been accomplished if I caved at every turn.
Here I am. Come and take me.

Worth it.

Worth it, a poem image.

Long distance lovers with a secret romance
Some say it’s not worth givin’ a chance
But no one knows until that first dance
And are captured in their lover’s glance
And find it’s worth it

Dreams are chasin’ after a crazy moon
Feel a deep ache higher than the tallest sand dune
Wind sounding the ocean lovers’ tune
While we drift in bed, till well past noon
It’s all worth it
So worth it

Seven sensual sins under a sacred sun
Makin’ love till you say we’re done
You know I know I’m the fortunate one
And I know it’s not all about having fun
And you’re worth it.

Mirrored ceilings and satin sheets
Body oils and massages way down deep
Songs softly sung while I’m losin’ sleep
But I know true love doesn’t come cheap
You know you’re worth it

These are the things I keep dreamin’ about
What they are you would have no doubt
With your tongue so lovingly in my mouth
I can’t seem to make the words come out
And it’s worth it.

Say you love me and I’ll be on my way
Settle scores and start a brand new day
Be the one you’ve been waitin’ hear say
You’re worth it
And I’ll be worth it

The dream of a writer; the reality of an author.

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”~C. S. Lewis

I believe every person passes through numerous dreams and down many roads on the way to what they will finally become. For some of us we find the roadblocks, the forks in the road, the detours, and at times a dead end. I’ll be using several quotes from famous individuals today, as I am prone to do , however I also enjoy using quotes of my own.

“There is no such thing as being lost. We’re simply taking a more scenic route.”~Ronovan

I have taken many forks in the road in my life on the road to becoming an author. I’ve even sat stalled on the side of that road, but I always find my way back. Those moments of “adventure” add to the experiences my characters are able to struggle through or joy through.

“A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.” ~Ayn Rand

Not having a good memory after the concussion, I’m not certain if I ever wanted to rule the world of writing. These days I like the sense of accomplishment when completing a novel and submitting it. Even those form rejections are okay these days. Rejections means I tried. Lots of rejections means I tried a lot.

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”~Confucius

Having that memory problem and other health problems means it takes me a bit of time to complete things. I’ve had to re-read chapters to know what I was writing to begin with…short  term memory problems can be a bear for a writer. But just as time takes care of many things, makes many things better, and adds flavor, it also adds to what you can put into a project you are working on.

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.”~Norman Vincent Peale

When I wrote my romance, as a challenge to myself to write outside my comfort zone shortly after my accident, I didn’t know what I would do with it. I fussed over it for a time. Then recently with the downfall of my laptop I returned to reading that romance after some encouragement.

Not halfway through, I discovered I was an author. I read on the kindle screen a book. Not only a book, but a very good book. I was smiling and feeling along with the characters.

I am now working on that book and will not stop until it is in a state of submission, either through the mail or by headlock.

Time. There is nothing that can be successful without time. Even a race is won after hours and years of practice.

“Write what you know, but show what you feel.”~Ronovan

You. (A Poem.)

When the days are long, and nights even longer.
Thinking of you, makes my desire even stronger.

Are the two words I think of

Every night, fresh strength?

Thinking of you brings

For me pleasant dreams at night

Are fresh thanks to you.

Lips intoxicate (A Poem)

The wind, finds me at my end.
Whether I survive and thrive, it’s up the tides I ride.
Sounds of chimes softly dampen my rhymes.
My mind is content to no longer vent, the energy spent.

Soft ocean waves beat away the fray on display.
Birds cry out in joy, like a bike gifted boy.
I cannot deny or lie that I spy beauty walk by.
Why delay or be afraid to speak of  the vision my mind’s way?

Dreams are what I have in sleep or awake.
I keep moving forward each day for attainment’s sake.
Do you think this drifting of my thoughts is a sign?
I’ve never been a drunk, but her lips intoxicate like sweet red wine.

Wasted (A Poem)

Here I am
Sittin’ again
Lookin’ back on where I’ve
Been.

Wasted Mmmm
I’m Wasted
Without you
Without you

Soft pink lips
Dark smoke eyes
Callin’ my name
‘Cross turquoise skies

Southwest winds
Shoutin’ come on friend
I don’t know where you’ve
Been

Wasted Mmmm
I’m Wasted
Without you
Without you

Takin’ a trip
Through a desperate mind
Seems so close
But like ten thousand miles

Tastin’ your heaven
Your velvet peach skin
Never had it once
Can’t wait for it again

Wasted Mmmm
I’m Wasted
Without you
Without you

A poem I found that I apparently wrote last week. Was on my computer with a date of last Tuesday. You guys know me, I forget things, but thought I would share it. Not sure about it though.

I’m So Glad To Find

You make the best of me, from what I used to be

Carrying me though, to a life that is brand new

I don’t want to see, the man that I used to be

Forever in your arms, protected from all harms

Say you’ll never go, that our love is even more than we know

Do you think you will find, another love like ours in all mankind

Take the rest of me, and set me free

I can shine through, because of the love of me by you

Baby you’re the key, to what I am meant to be

Stay here by my side, our worlds meant to collide

Say you’ll never go, that our live is even more than we know

Do you think you will find, another love like ours in all mankind

One step closer to the fall, reach out and save me, make that call

Inside a moment of the last, you make up for my lost past

If I never thought again, all I would need is the touch of your hand

Say you’ll never go

Because our love is more than you know

Say you’ll never go

I’m so glad to find

That I can call

You

Mine
