This post originally appears on my co-authors PS Bartlett’s Blog. Yes, I am just too lazy to make one of my own, and well…why should I when this one looks so good. I did modify it so it didn’t look like I was doing the talking. I can’t believe she’s nuts enough to let the current 6 books go for just $5.00.

Please read the first paragraph at least. It’s from me.

We don’t have publishers and companies helping us promote and that’s why we do these post on our blogs and websites, and that’s why we need you.

It’s not about the money. It’s about what every real author wants, people reading our books. How do I know people are reading it? By climbing the ranks on the sales boards of Amazon. Visit the books on Amazon, read the descriptions, and the reviews. If you like what you see, help my co-author and I out by getting the novella of Ivory Dawn for free, the other five for .99 each.

You know what I look like, here’s the one that like wrote the other 5 books all by herself, meaning without any of my help. Plus two books of an entirely different genre.

Some of you may know about my propensity in my former life for encouraging young people, specifically teens. I was a high school teacher and even the Youth Director at my church. I also supervised and managed dozens, if not hundreds, of college students over the course of a decade in a management job I had as a data analyst.Sian Mei Fashion image.

I don’t really have those opportunities now but I can be supportive in other ways. Back during the early days of my Haiku Challenge I had a partner who helped come up with the words from time to time. Her name was Sian the Haiku Girl.

Well, Sian isn’t a little girl any longer. She’s very much a teen and well, you can just see and hear the rest for yourself.

Sian Mei ImageThis being #WednesdayWisdom, I can’t think of anything more wise to share with you than the talent of Sian Mei and ask that you follow her on her various platforms. Every young talent, young mind, young creative, and young spirit needs the world’s love, support, and encouragement to go for their dreams.

We are so focused on hoping people follow our own Twitters and Instagrams and like our latest whatever we put out there, that we forget sometimes to do the same for those we like. We listen to their music, watch videos, or read posts and we forget to do the clicks at the end, even though we mean to. I do it all the time and often try to remember who the person was so I can go back because I thought what they shared was really funny.

All the voices you hear on her recordings are her own. She does her own harmonies. She hits those high notes and the lows. And she is not electronically engineered to sound amazing. I’ve heard live performances as well, and some of them might just rival the ones below.

I’ll be keeping y’all up to date on her career. I consider her a friend and me as a fan, maybe her biggest.

Outlasting?

Man in pain beside poem on right.

Stuck in a rut with no way out.

Opening my mouth but you can’t hear me shout.

Locked here in this world alone with my doubt.

Directions to safety keeps telling me to reroute.

My positivity has been my fingertip of hope.

Lately I’ve been sounding more like a garbage eating billy goat.

I keep slipping and sliding up and down a well traveled slope.

My plans so sabotaged I feel on the verge of a Virginia Woolf note.

The love for life counted down till it came.

And all those blissful imaginings… went up in a flame.

The clock hit zero and that pain I’ve held back…my brain is lame.

My mind limps and stumbles with fatigue and shame.

To change the world takes so much of your light.

You pull yourself up but find you haven’t enough fight.

You claw at limbs to see the white light.

Try as you may you just don’t have the might.

I still hang on to one thin strand.

Feeling the whole time that I wait on grains of sand.

My heart burns and it aches with each weak demand.

When I last close my eyes I hope to be in a new land.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and the prompt words will be reflecting that in some way. The National Alliance on Mental Illness or NAMI is a big part of this. Those of you who have been with me since the beginning of my blogging time for the past 6 years know that I’ve had my own problems, which was one reason I started blogging in the first place. Through the friendships I developed and the outlet blogging gave me I’ve improved a great deal. I have neglected those friendships, and however much I want to improve in that area I’ve been in a not very energy filled place in parts of my life and those parts have suffered.

I love these covers, and am particularly fond of the Amber Wake: Gabriel Falling cover. Not a bias or anything, just a simple observational opinion. If you click on each image you get to see them on a page alone and they look so amazing.

Ivory Dawn is a novella introducing the main heroine, and titular character of Ivory Shepard, her cousins, the life they came from, and the life they throw themselves headfirst into.

Amber Wake: Gabriel Falling introduces Gabriel Wallace as he transforms from life as a vaunted Captain in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy to becoming the man who will be known as Big Red Rasmus Bergman, a man that plays a pivotal part in the Razor fulfilling her dreams.

I’m reading it now and am so happy to finally get to see what happens between Ivory and Razz, and what’s going on with her cousins, three beautiful and intelligent women proving they are just as wily in the ways of the Caribbean as their protective cousin.

I read it and was immediately hooked, so much so that I jumped on her bandwagon and coattails and signed on to co-write Amber Wake, and an as yet to be completed or named possible sequel. It seems the blonde haired author lady and I both got it in our blood to start writing the pirate life again at the same time. It had to be a sign,and we know any successful pirate knows how to read the signs.

The Guidelines are simple.

  1. Take the two words and write a Haiku. I use Haiku in English as my style, which is 5 syllables for the first line, 7 for the second, and 5 for the third, but you can use what you like. The link above has links within it to articles about how to write Haibun, Tanka, and even a new form I created called Freku. You can also do the 3/5/3 form if you likeinstead of the 5/7/5 that I usually use. Write, share, and have fun. For syllable help visit HowManySyllables.com. (You would be surprised at how many syllables some words actually have.)
  2. The two words can be used as you like. Words have different definitions and you can use the definitions you like. You can even use a synonym word as long as it does not change the meaning. Go to Thesaurus.com for Synonym help.
  3. Use the Tag of Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge. This will help me find you in case you forget to ping back or leave your URL in the comments.
  4. Copy the link of your finished haiku URL  in a comment so we can all go and visit your site to see what you have done. You can do a ping back. What’s a ping back? Put the URL link in the address bar of this post, if you like, within your post. Your inclusion of the link encourages others to try the challenges out, be creative, and join a community to find friends and more followers (hopefully). I honestly gain nothing by more people visiting the post. I don’t have ads running I get paid for by your visit. Click HERE for a detailed article on Ping Backs.
  5. You may copy one of the badges/images appearing in this post below or above and place it on your site if you wish, most normally use it within their post. I am not saying you need to, but if you would like to do so then go ahead. It is simply my way of saying thank you for participating.
