Stand Up to Release.

caroline kennedy quote imageIt is not easy to stand up against your constituents or your friends or colleagues or your community and take a tough stand for something you believe is right. Because you always want to keep working and live to fight another battle and it might cost you your career.”~Caroline Kennedy

How often do people like to tell you that what you think is wrong or what you believe is wrong? And how often do you then stay quiet or back down?

A lot of people complain about the world but are silent when it comes to the things they have problems with.

Part of being positive in the world, finding your positive place and place of peace is to release those things inside of you. If you believe in something, then live that something. If you believe something is right, then stand up for that something.

Negativity comes from regrets. Regrets come from not doing things you should do. How often is your mind filled with those missed chances at standing up for what you believe in? More often than you think. Your fantasies and dreams stem from missed chances. You may think about a better job. Maybe that better job you want is because you missed an opportunity you thought should be yours.

Do you think about possible relationships? Broken relationships? Maybe even a current relationship that is poison?

Fear keeps people from standing up for what they think is right. That fear will lead to a life time of negativity, doubt, sadness, regrets. You don’t have to confront people, you can simply say that it’s over and be done with it. Walk away.

Other issues require speaking up. I know for a fact that anger can build up by being silent. That anger interferes with attaining the peace you want. Look at the quote at the beginning. If people don’t accept you for you and what you are and believe, then you don’t need them, they aren’t your friend or people you need to be around or a workplace you need to be in.

I am what I say I am.

Ever been told by people that you mean something you didn’t mean? Perhaps this sounds familiar, “I know what you really meant. Don’t lie to me. You’re all alike.”

I am unique, as is everyone. I would like to speak about something that bugs me in a major way. And if you are honest with yourself you might admit it bugs you as well.

I don’t like my actions or words being judged based on a person’s experience with other people or especially with how they would act in a situation. Some people are scum. Sorry to use that word but it’s more polite than a lot of words that could be used. To think that I would think or intend as they do just because I am of a similar something or other ticks me off.

For example, if I were to say I thought someone had great hair, that doesn’t mean anything other than I think that person has great hair. But in the past I’ve had people tell me that I must be interested in someone for paying a compliment or even noticing someone. Hair usually isn’t the thing. I may like a shirt or shoes. I don’t see a reason you can’t compliment someone on something. I mean perhaps your significant other may not like it but anyone else doesn’t have a reason to even bother.

This carries over to articles and my beliefs. Some people think that because I am a Christian that I must think a certain way. They also think because I am male, white, and live in the South in the USA, I must have certain opinions and if I say something they develop an opinion of it based on those factors.

I’ve learned over the years to observe and that’s it. I say words and those words about a subject should be taken as they sound, not as one thinks they must be intended. I find myself explaining things in my writing to head off these crazy ideas people have.

Trust me, as a person of the various criteria above I have become accustomed to heading things off. But it’s also helped me take what other people do at face value. I get the discrimination people get because of factors. Surprised that I could be discriminated against? Surprised I would dare even use that word?

Every person can be discriminated against for something. Some people think Christians aren’t discriminated against. Try being a teacher these days and be openly Christian. Read a Bible during your lunch time and you get punished. It’s my lunch time. Go talk to the football coach watching porn on his school computer. Oh, sorry, his team makes money for the school. My bad.

You may think my article is negative and be surprised considering my blog is focusing on positivity, but it’s not negative. It’s about being who you are, and for other people to treat you for who you are not what they think you are. Don’t think you do the discrimination thing or judging thing? Ever said to someone about your friend, “Don’t take it seriously, he’s just a guy. You know how they get sometimes,”?

Blogging Mental Health: Phobias, Disorders, Anxieties

Phobias, Disorders, Anxieties. You know we all have one of these. And actually the labels can often be interchangeable so don’t judge a phobia by its disorder, you’ll just cause anxiety.

I am very prolific in my blogging. I write an article or poem a day except on Saturdays, and sometimes even then. So it seems that I have a problem that people don’t understand. It’s become worse over time since I began blogging.

And when I mention it, well the subject, people’s responses just make it worse because they don’t get it. It goes back to my concussion a couple of years ago.

Before that I was a very engaging person. Never met a stranger. Could have a conversation with anyone. But since then, and the retrograde amnesia, things changed. You know I kind of get afraid of things. And I became so isolated because of not only the amnesia but the light and sound sensitivity, and the migraines, that people actually became a problem.

I am now at the point I don’t go to stores any longer. I very rarely step outside the house at all. I’m okay with the no people in person thing though. I mean, I like being alone now.

My communicating with the world is through my articles. And unless you are a super close person to me, I don’t even talk in emails.

That brings me to the problem. And it’s kind of sad I even have to mention it, but I’m going to anyway so people will understand people like me, and not judge us.

When people comment on blogs, well some of them almost demand a response. I have a fear or responding. Don’t ask me why or what it is, but if you ever see a response it has taken a lot for me to get up to the point to do it. I have almost been to the point of removing the comment option from the blog. But people have met through my comments and helped each other.

I’ve mentioned comments before in articles and the responses have made it worse. People pride themselves in responding to every comment on their blogs. They brag about it in the comments. Some actually do genuine responses, but there are also those who do fake responses. If you’ve been blogging long enough you know what I mean. I personally am not going to do fake responses just to make my blog grow. That’s not me.

When I first began blogging I was able to make myself respond, but things have gotten worse as time has passed. I want people to know they can blog however they like and grow a blog. It’s your content that matters. If you have something people find worthwhile, that’s all that matters.

Don’t let other bloggers who say you must respond to every comment in order to be a good blogger, a successful blogger, force you to do anything. If you are like me and feel physically ill sometimes at the idea of having to respond to a comment, learn to not worry about it. I do it at times because a comment really requires a response, or I am having a good moment.

Is it a Social Anxiety issue? Maybe. Is it some kind of phobia about people? Maybe. Sounds like they are both the same to me.

If you read my blog and you comment and I don’t respond, don’t take it as I am not reading your comment or that I am not appreciating it. Sometimes I will click like on the comments to show I read them and appreciate them. Some people are Blog Nazis and don’t think that’s good enough. Whatever.

I’m good with what I can do. You be good with what you can do. Don’t judge. This is my outlet. This is how I talk to the world. And this is the last time I am going to talk about comments on this blog. I’m tired of it. Almost as tired as I am of people complaining about me not replying to comments.

Stand up for yourself. #Poetry

Stand up for yourself, because no one else will.
If you truly believe what you believe then have resolve of steel.
Don’t worry about people and what they may think.
If they love you for you then they won’t even blink.

Things are important in this day and age.
We don’t have those heaven wise men, a guru, a sage.
Don’t let fear conquer your heart and your mind.
Stand up for yourself and be one of a kind.

Hate, ridicule, may follow your each and every word.
But to you and yourself at least you will have been heard.

RonovanWrites #Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt #Challenge #52 Silent&Loud

As a tribute to the very first Haiku challenge, yes that would be #1 from one year ago. Below is a Retro look at what you would  have seen then, prompt words and all, except for the image and the link information in red below the image. Five people participated in that first Haiku challenge, and although we now how over 40 poets each week, and not always the same ones, only one poet remains from that very first challenge to this day as a participant.

I want to thank Meredith of Meredith’s Musings for being there that first Challenge Week and being here today. I’m not certain how many she’s led to this challenge, but I appreciate everything she’s done. Love you Meredith! Expect to see her Haiku entry this week appear as a reblog here on Ronovan Writes.

And as a further honor for her loyalty here is the Image for this week.

Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku Prompt Challenge #52

The rules are simple.

  • Take the two words and write a Haiku. I use Haiku in English as my style, but you can use what you like.
  • The two words can be used as you like. Words have different definitions and you can use the definitions you like. You can even use a synonym word as long as it does not change the meaning.
  • Copy a link to your finished haiku  in a comment so we can all go and visit your site to see what you have done. I will comment on your site. You can do a pink back, put a link back to the prompt page, if you like within your post, as long as it does not take away from your haiku. I would do it at the very bottom near where one normally puts the copyright. But I am not encouraging anyone to do that. This is just permission to do so. This is simply a prompt and challenge to encourage people to try Haiku and give some a prompt and a place to share in comments so we can find each other.
  • Ping back Linkhttps://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2015/07/06/ronovanwrites-weekly-haiku-poetry-prompt-challenge-52-silent-loud/
  • Non Pingback Link https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/
  • You may copy the badge appearing in this post and place it on your site if you wish. I am not saying you need to, but if you would like to do so then go ahead. It is simply my way of saying thank you for participating.

The Challenge Words! Finally!

Silent

Loud

My example:

You bring silence out,

Over the noise of the world’s moans,

Cacophonous dins ring.

As you can see I changed the words but kept their meanings. Enjoy the challenge and I look forward to seeing your Haiku.

Much Respect

Here is a very good article from author Olga Núñez Miret, one the LitWorldInterviews Team. Great information and I’m going to be looking at this option more myself.

Hi all:

Today I’m sharing a post that I published in my own blog last week. Sorry to those of you who might have read it already, but people seemed quite interested, so I thought I’d share it with you too.
I know we’ve all been told we should use social media to promote ourselves, our businesses, blogs, books, painting, whatever we do. And I know we all have our preferences, or sites that we understand better, or we find more useful, or that don’t give us a headache.

I must confess I quite liked Twitter to begin with, when I joined a few months before I published my first book. I would follow people I found interesting, read their Tweets, and be excited if somebody decided to follow me. I read about the subject, I tweeted quotations, ideas, suggestions, retweeted interesting things…

I’ve met many interesting people through Twitter…

Always be prepared to…

So I have one more consecutive post of offering up a Quote to do in order to meet the challenge by Greg of Potholes in the Road of Life.

Today I want to share one for perhaps not only my Christian friends, but all my friends. Thinking upon this quote helps you quite a bit.

1 Peter 3:15-16 NIV

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”

I know, those of you who don’t believe in Jesus could just not read that part, but the rest would work.

A long time ago I would shy away from engaging with people who would lash out against my faith.  Why? Because I didn’t know the details as much. The truth is, to be saved you don’t have to know the details. You learn how to LIVE like a Christian along the way. The knowledge in the Bible doesn’t magically fill your Bible because you whispered to a preacher at the front of a church one Sunday morning.

Although, a lot of the basic things about being a Christian we all know. A lot of it is common sense things.

But back to the purpose of the article. Several years ago I began to get involved in something called Apologetics. This is not an apology. This is defined as “reasoned arguments or writings in justification of something, typically a theory or religious doctrine”. It might be more commonly known as Defending Your Faith. And the religious doctrine part sort of came about later. It was a legal thing back in the day. Like, oh about 2000 or so years ago.

As I began to study and learn more about the Bible, the facts of information found in the Bible and a lot of other things, I was better able to defend my faith. I was prepared to give an answer.

For Christians we’re told here to to study the Word of God. We are told to be prepared. Why? It’s not just to defend our faith to others, but to ourselves as we face various trials in life. If you are confident in your belief nothing will shake it loose. It may tremble, but it will not fall.

I know this for a fact. I’ve seen it in action, in the worst possible moment imaginable.

But as to the quote. If you defend your beliefs in a polite fashion, and I don’t mean roll over and give up, then when people try to say you are a bad person other people will ignore those reports. Unfortunately we have a lot of Christians that don’t defend in a polite manner. I try. Maybe I fail at times, but so far I think my previous articles have been polite and I haven’t ridiculed anyone or anything like that.

Would be nice for all people to be like that.

Much Love, Success, and Respect

Sunday Golf and the hard headed.

As you may have read in my last post I have been given the challenge to share three quotes with you in three consecutive posts by Greg of Potholes in the Road of Life.

Let me tell a little story.

A preacher repeatedly heard from his friends about the joys of playing golf on Sunday. Sunday players got a discount, they said, yet the golf course was never overcrowded like it was during the rest of the week. It was so peaceful, that a person could really concentrate on his game.

Being a man of the cloth, of course, the preacher worked on Sunday. But, also being a avid golf fan, the preacher found the temptation to try the Sunday game strong and persistent.  Finally, the preacher gave in. He called his assistant to say he was sick and to turn the sermon over to him. Then, he grabbed his clubs and headed for the golf course.

The day was sunny and bright. The course was peaceful and quiet. His friends were right. Sunday was a perfect day to play golf.

But, up in heaven, God and his angels were watching the preacher as he set up his first tee. “God,” said the smallest angel, “You have to do something about this! The man is a preacher! This isn’t right!”

“Don’t worry,” said God. “I’ve got the situation well in hand.”

The preacher took his swing. THWAK!!! The ball wisked through the air straight and true as an arrow. HOLE IN ONE!!!!!!!

At the second hole, the preacher takes a swing, and gets ANOTHER HOLE IN ONE!!!!!!

Finally, after all 18 holes, the priest has gotten a hole in one at EVERY HOLE!!!!!

“But, God!” cried the smallest angel. “This is terrible! How could you let him get a hole in one every time, when he shouldn’t even be playing golf today?”

God turned to the angel with a smile. “Who can he tell about it?”

I told that story one Sunday morning as I stood before the church stalling for time as the choir director and choir were late to arrive and we were on radio and could not have dead air. The only problem is I did not tell the story that well.

As I reflected on it I realized why. I have an aversion to golf. No, don’t get me wrong. I love golf. I enjoy watching a small amount of it at times. All those beautiful greens.

I even went golfing with my father. He tried to show me the game and I was not bad at it. He even gave me a set of clubs.

One day we were on the fairway and he pulls out a driver, a wood. This would end up being a fortunate thing. He wanted me to watch his swing to see how to do it.

He placed me in position to get the best look. About 20 seconds later a 16 year old boy named Ronovan was grateful the club had been a wood instead of an iron. You see the wood is large and slightly rounded. The iron, well the name says it all.

Ronovan was grateful because the head of the club hit him squarely, dead center in the forehead. Ronovan did not fall down. He did not cry. He did not even make a sound.

He did get  to drive the golf car the rest of the game and have a very nice meal afterwards.

I tell that story to show why I believe I did not do well at telling the previous story. I have an aversion to golf. Well that and the fact we were live on radio and my part of the service was finished on time and I had nothing left to go with. There is just so many times you can say Happy Birthday to the two little old ladies, especially when one was so proud of being the oldest lady in the church and was very smug about it.

A quote? I know that’s where this was to lead.

1 Timothy 4:16a ESV

“Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching.”

I am not ashamed…

Greg from over at Potholes In The Road of Life nominated me to be involved in a Three Day Quote Challenge, sharing a quote three posts in a row. Since he’s a friend and is faithfully dedicated to doing my Haiku Challenge each week, how can I say no, right? So I’ll see what I can do.

Romans 1:16 New International Version (NIV)

romans-1-1616 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

I decided to pick three of my favorite quotes. What better quote than one from Paul about 2000 years ago? But why did I pick this one?

Many people read the book of Romans chapter by chapter. In doing so they fail to understand the message. For centuries since the Bible was divided into chapters and verses  some misunderstandings have been around. And Romans chapters one and two being divided as they are has been one of the biggest.

But I digress. The reason Romans 1:16 is a favorite quote is because of what it says. All are included in salvation who believe in the gospel.

I also like how it says “I am not ashamed of the gospel”. Some Christians are ashamed to admit they believe in Jesus to their friends. And they certainly are afraid to say they believe in his teachings. I’m not certain why except for all those misunderstandings ingrained throughout the generations by the ill informed.

The gospel, the truth, the power. God took the control of sin out of Satan’s hand and put it into the hands of each person as their own choice to make. The perfect sacrifice, Jesus, God in flesh as man, suffering as man, without power to give us a chance.

And since the day I realized the truth of all of that, not the day I became a Christian, but years later, I have not been ashamed to say what I am. Many celebrities are ashamed. No one wants to be ridiculed as the next Tim Tebow. Oh how he’s suffered. Sarcasm there. Only time he ever was a teams starting quarterback in the NFL he lead a down and out team to the playoffs and actually won some games.

So I am proud to say I am not ashamed of the gospel. It gives me a confidence in my final destination and a peace within me in not fearing the future.

Much Love, Success, and Respect

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge Review 51

First, you can still submit your entry to the challenge and have it added to the Review.

Today the reviews do not have any comments. I’m testing the different format to see how it goes. It was easier somewhat but still took four efforts to complete. But I see that as a blessing for what this challenge has become.

As for the image below. Now you know what was inside of the wrapped up almost flower bud looking image last week.

My Declaration of Independence from . . .

It’s a bit late in the day to be writing my Independence Day letter. I hadn’t planned on doing one, or maybe I did, I’m not really certain. But I’ve learned something over the past year or so and that is if I don’t let something out, it will keep eating at me and I can’t rest. So here it all goes.

Revolutionary WarThe Gadsden Flag from the Revolutionary war.
Nothing to do with any political group for this post purpose or ever.

My Declaration of Independence from . . .

I will no longer be strangled by heart strings. Those that I love know the one way to get to me is through the heart. Well that is over. Attempts to guilt me into things just won’t work any longer. Those that try it obviously don’t love me enough to love me as I am. And it’s not about choosing between either or.

Blog writing will be more open and honest and maybe in your face on issues. I’m tired of keeping quiet like the good little roll over Christian boy. I’ll voice my views, just as my friends do, and expect the same respect I show them in not commenting negatively about it. As everyone knows, I don’t stoop to petty bickering. And my Christian articles are well thought out and polite. They don’t attack anyone.

I love. I love hard. And I love faithfully.

I will no longer feel guilty about not remembering people. Some blog friends and real life people over the past year have disappeared from my memory not too long ago because of illness and stress. Nothing I could do about it, nothing that can be changed about it.

High maintenance, and emotionally needy people need not apply at my door. I’m a good friend, but I can only handle so much these days. I will do my best but the surest way to stress me out is to be a needy Ned or Nelly. Harsh, I know, but I’m just laying it out there. Stress will only lead to more memory problems. I already lose memories after sleeping too such as days in bed while in a Fibromyalgia Flare. I try hard to hang on to the memories I have.

These are the hard things one has to do in order to help themselves. These are the choices to have peace of mind and maybe someday peace of heart. I don’t know if that last one will ever happen because of some of those choices up there. If people I love don’t want to love me for me alone then so be it. Call me selfish if you like.

I do my best every day to bring a positive message to my blog and my world. It is much more difficult than anyone may realize. But I keep doing it every day. And I will keep doing it every day.

I’m done.

In the Quiet Hours. Find Positivity.

Confucious Silence is a Friend

In the Quiet Hours. Last week I discussed Creating a Positive Environment and how you needed to be serious about it and how there would be difficult decisions to be made. Something unusual happens when you enter a quiet place. That place being the newly formed room in your chaotic mind.

Do you really want to be rid of negative relatives? I pretty much no longer speak to one of mine. I have reflected on that and came to realize something. I came to realize how that break actually came about.

Over the past weekend I lost my peaceful world for a time. I was angry with the citizens of my nation and their ugliness in exchanges over various issues. I was angry at myself and my situation in which parts of I have no actual control at the moment, but I am working on it. I was angry at the drop of a hat.

I tell you this to show you that there are times you slip out of that Positive Environment. Why? Because we are human and our brains are truly chaotic. AND our brains are connected to our hearts. Those hearts do so much good and so much damage.

fancis bacon silence nourishes wisdomAm I angry now? I have turned anger into disappointment. Disappointment is something I can handle. I can eventually turn disappointment into a moment in time in a string of events to a better time. I can examine and grow myself by learning what I felt and thought during those anger moments.

To learn I need a quiet room in my mind. I need those Quiet Hours. Quiet Hours lead to quiet times, quiet environments. By being the person you want to be, others see it. They will either like it, accept it or they will reject it. If they reject it and you are someone they cannot push around with their words and antagonizing, they slowly leave your environment, or quickly do so.

In other words, you don’t need to tell a negative person to leave your life, they will do it on their own when they can no longer handle the shining light of positivity and happiness you exude all the time.

Now you can actually confront and remove someone from your life but that’s a decision for you to make. It also depends on how bad that person is in your life. No situation is the same. There is silence of the mind and silence in wisdom and there is also the silence in cowardice. This is not the  later. That is a discussion for another time.

helen keller content in whatever stateI found the below after I wrote the article and came up with my title. I don’t believe in coincidences. I and Find Positivity to the title after I had completed putting this article together.

This may not load in all regions. You can also find it on Spotify and Rhapsody. It is also the name of the album, track two I believe.

In the Quiet Hours

You will light my way.

So needless our words.

Let’s just spend the day.

Lonely lay the heart. (A poem.)

Lonely lay the heart of the man, under the feet of love’s caravan.
Through sands of burning glass, to the brittle savanna’s finger grass.
Cutting and scratching for a hole of entry, fighting against a time tested sentry.
Lonely lay the heart of the man, in search of the tenderness of his love’s hand.

A whisper of a word begins the stir of change, as rumblings sound throughout the range.
Shattering boundaries and crossing borders, the word on her lips destroys the stone’s engraved orders.
Raging seas roll within his confines, thoughts racing and winding about building for her shrines.
A whisper of a word begins the stir of change, in search to burst the heart beat of the one to whom love is so strange.

Fire burns through granite of the hardest find, intent on finding the only one for his kind.
What was once a shadow of mindless raving, now is pulsating with the blood of a lifetime’s craving.
With the wind now blowing to fan the flame, neither the source or the man will ever be the same.
Fire burns through granite of the hardest find, molten like lava to burn her image in his mind.

Live in the Now, not with the Ghost of the Past. #BeWoW

nemoMy theme this week so far has been silence. Keeping one’s silence is golden. You appear wise when not engaging a fool, even if you are a fool yourself, which in some way or other we all are.

Living in the moment for me means I don’t ALLOW those old moments to flare up my emotions to interfere with my dealings with the moments of today.

If we all ALLOWED them to happen, we would never love as we all most likely have had broken hearts.

By living in the moment we ALLOW ourselves to experience things we would have missed out on otherwise. We don’t ALLOW fears to get in the way of adventures. By this I mean foolish fears, not wise fears that bring us caution.

Living in the moment is a difficult thing to do at first. With practice it can be done.

ALLOW yourself to enjoy life. ALLOW yourself to be more than you ever imagined.

As pain is the past,

The future’s in the present,

With great hopes and dreams.

Here are some free Kindle books pertaining to living in the moment. I haven’t read them yet, but they have good reviews and I thought I would bring them to your attention. Quotes are from Amazon Book Descriptions. Click images for Amazon book page.

41aih0k2u+L._AA160_“After reading Remove Negative Thinking, you will be able to:
– Recognize and remove your negative thinking patterns throughout the day
– Reframe how you see the world
– Connect to your passion and purpose
– Focus on abundance and live in the now
– Move outside your comfort zone
– Stay motivated and surround yourself with positive people

51R+3-36xNL._AA160_“This inspirational guide reminds you that life can be good, no matter what challenges you may be facing right now. Be present, see the divine at work in all circumstances, and experience ordinary life as sacred. Learn to practice the art of abundance as a form of spiritual awareness based in gratitude. “

#100WordWisdom Silence Wins the Day.

Know your adversary. How to learn your adversary? You observe them. And how do you observe? You remain silent.

Silence is an unsung hero of many battles. Silence is maddening to a fool. Silence is maddening to the arrogant. Silence is the enemy of your foe.

The more you refrain from engaging in banter with the witless, the more foolish your foe seems, because the more they talk the more truth people see. People watching see a deteriorating mind who rants on and on against someone who speaks not an inflammatory word.

In the long run, silence wins the day.

Wisdom in Silence.

At first I was not intending to do a post for today but when I read Hold yourself in silence… by Florence on her blog Meanings and Musings thoughts went somewhere.

Is the expressing your thoughts and engaging in debate a sign you are wise?

She means a cultural aspect to this concept. I think quite often people are trained from an early age to speak up and give the answer, to show off they know, be the first to raise their hand in class. But is that the way it should be? Is wisdom a race?

Now, Florence does not talk about wisdom being a race or contest, her article simply led my mind somewhere and then it raced off in this direction as I thought of my son and then the world in general.

When I read her article the first thing that came to mind was the following.

proverbs-17-27And Thenproverbs-10-19And My All Time Favoriteproverbs-17-28

Words can be twisted, even well intentioned words. Those who hold there words in the heat of emotions and when goaded into a battle of words has more power when they do speak.

Look at politics. Let a candidate speak long enough and they will eventually shoot themselves in the foot by saying something like let’s put a colony on the moon.

Today is a good day to practice silence. Silence, such as as the unheard tremor deep in the ocean or the blowing of a wind can create a powerful force over time. Hold. Silence. Then when released? Power.

Here are a few currently free e-books on Amazon I saw today. I picked ones with plenty of good reviews. Some humor, some wisdom, but all will give you wisdom in some way.

charles-bridges-proverbsSelected passages with explanations by Charles Bridges from 1840. C.H. Spurgeon commented upon it-“The best work on the Proverbs. While explaining the passage in hand, he sets other portions of the Word in new lights.”

rosie-blythe-being-a-cat“Rosie Blythe has obviously been owned by a princess cat. She knows the world of cats and explains how you can channel your own inner cat too. This book is cute and funny and pretty creative. I especially loved the section on how to spend a day as a cat. Mostly you will laugh as you read this. If you have cats and know cat behavior very well this will totally amews you.”~The Rebecca Review

Yes, it’s a humor thing but I thought some would enjoy some fun.

tai-sheridan-buddha-in-bluejeansPoet and Zen Priest Tai Sheridan’s ‘Buddha in Blue Jeans’ is an extremely short, simple, and straight forward universal guide to the practice of sitting quietly and being yourself, which is the same as being Buddha. Sitting quietly can teach many ways to accept life, meet pain, age gracefully, and die without regret. The book encourages sitting quietly every day.

lon-g-stewart-walking-with-jesusDr. Stewart spent a total of fifty-nine years preaching in eighteen different countries, as a pastor of three different churches, and teaching an adult Bible class. He and his wife Lorrie live happily in Gilbert, Arizona; and as this book is going to press, Dr. Stewart is working on his fourth book! He is happy to give God all the praise for his very fulfilling life.

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge #51 Future&Give

Make certain to look up those definitions this week.

Challenge 51

challenge51

I created this challenge to have a place for people to share creativity and gain a little exposure to other readers they might not have otherwise AND of course to enjoy Haiku. We all have different people who visit our blogs, so this way we get to meet new people. Just so you know, this is a community. You will get to know the people here and make several new friends along the way.

First one to submit an entry gets reblogged here on Ronovan Writes. But go for quality, that’s the important part.

First of all, if you don’t know how to write a Haiku in English format, don’t worry, there are links below to articles I’ve written to show you how. Or you can click that link there. They are easier than you think. And to be honest, as for the challenge, I don’t really have rules for people sticking to formats unless it comes down to having to decide between two people for one of the Choices of the week. Choices are the winners, my selections, for one Serious and one Humorous Haiku each week that just gets me. But staying to formats does make you a better writer of Haiku. And with practice, it becomes second nature.

So you write a Haiku, what do you do with it?

  1. You have the Haiku as a post on your blog.
  2. Within that post you can put one of the two links you will find below under “Use One Of These Links in Your Blog”. Just copy and paste and make sure they are active/live. That’s called a pingback for one of them, but not the other. What’s a Pingback? How do you do it? Click here to find out how if you don’t know how.
  3. If you don’t do the real pingback link, which will be called “Pingback Link” below, then make sure to put a link to your post in the comments of this Challenge post so we can all go read your Haiku. Either way is cool with me. Or you can do both.
  4. The Challenge Post is published each Monday at 9 AM Eastern Time, or New York Time for those like me who get confused with all those easterns  and stuff. Don’t know what your time zone is compared to New York Time? Click here for a Time Zone Map showing times as of right this moment.
  5. You have until Noon Eastern New York Time Sunday to submit your Haiku. You may submit as many as you like, even multiple ones within the same post if you like. There is no limit.
  6. Why submit? We have several members of the challenge family and they visit other members, also people visit the challenge specifically to see what people write, and I do a weekly review of each and every Haiku written and put that out Sunday afternoon or Monday morning, depending on how much time it takes. That Review then gets shared on Twitter. I do at times keep tweeting the Review until I have included every Twitter Handle of every Poet who has participated, but I don’t always do that these days as the number is beginning to get big. But sometimes I do anyway.

Note: If you do both a Pingback and a Comment with a link, you will at some point notice the pingback on the Challenge Post here will disappear. I’ll be doing that to make it easier for people to visit each of you and not click on the same person twice not realizing the pingback and comment link are the same person. 🙂 I can tell the difference but when you are casually reading, who wants to bother with that, right? But don’t worry, the link is still active/live in your post.

One easy way to read the Haiku from the Challenge Post comments area is to right click and open the link in a new tab or window. That way you don’t lose your place in the list and you don’t have to keep revisiting my blog. Yes, it would give me a lot more visits but I know all those visits are all of you reading each others Haiku anyway.

People like to try different ways of doing Haiku and below are links to how to do some different kinds if you are interested.

Want to know How to write a Haiku Poem in English Form? Click here for the article. Also here you have an article that shows you a little about Haiku used in Haibun and Tanka as well. Haiku in English is the primary form for the challenge but you can use any of them. This is about being creative and pushing yourself to share a message or image in very few words.

The Prompt Words

Future & Give

My Example

The future holds me

Safe like a baby’s blanket,

You give me love’s warmth.

The following is how the sentences should read.

You hound forever, the gates to my secret place.

The gates to my secret place, kiss to gain entry.

You do not have to include the sentences within your post, but it does help others understand how Haiku works if you do.

Use One of These Links in Your Blog

Ping back Link

https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2015/06/29/ronovanwrites-weekly-haiku-poetry-prompt-challenge-50-future-give/

Non Pingback Link (This link will take a person to the category page for the Haiku Challenges. That page shows the most recent challenge at the top. It will not show as a pingback in the challenge Post. If you use this make certain to also leave a link to your post in the comments of this Challenge post so we can visit you and I can include you in the review.)

https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/category/haiku-prompt-challenge/

Remember you also have to make certain the link is active/live by clicking on the add link button which is next to the right alignment button for WordPress. To me the add link button kind of looks like a diagonal paper clip. It’s the fifth from the right in the WordPress post editor.

For Tips and Guidelines refreshers click here.

DEADLINE: Noon on Sunday New York Time.

There are TWO “CHOICE!” recipients each week. One for Humor and one for something more Serious. The Haiku are quite good each week and I am having to turn to the structure guidelines of a Haiku at times to help determine my selection.

Really each Haiku is a choice of mine, and I’m not just saying that, so I feel a bit odd even having something called A RONOVAN’S CHOICE, but hey, it’s a thing, right? And it does make it kind of fun.

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge Review 50

First, you can still submit your entry to the challenge and have it added to the Review.

Second, for future reviews, as the number of poets are increasing and my functioning hours are decreasing due to health, I am allergic to heat and it’s exacerbating my other conditions and it’s been 100 degrees here lately and no air in my room, that’s what you get for living in a house that was a school house a hundred years ago, the reviews may be minus my comments. I think the comments may actually take away from people being able to get to all of the Haiku anyway, but I know some people enjoy it when I am in a good enough way to have fun with them. Yes, I get goofy sometimes. 🙂

Canaf of Faithful Devotionals: Unfulfilled. Hmm. I somehow don’t think this is an actual personal Haiku. But a good one to learn from.

E. Rawls of E. Rawls: Author creating stories and art: Troubled Mind and Plights of a Merchant. OOOO, that second one. 🙂 Remember another author in the house. I think the best would be to her book page on her weebly site, http://erawls.weebly.com/
