Regrets are where they belong, in the past.

“Those who enjoy their own emotionally bad health and who habitually fill their own minds with the rank poisons of suspicion, jealousy and hatred, as a rule take umbrage at those who refuse to do likewise, and they find a perverted relief in trying to denigrate them.”~Johannes Brahms

When you go through life you end up running across people who, for some reason, think you are a threat to them. It has nothing to do with you having done anything wrong. I’ve seen examples of a lot of what Brahms spoke of above.

I watch interviews with these old professional wrestlers I watched when I was a kid. I do so in part because they were part of a time when I lived with my grandmother, back around 6 or 7 and when we visited her later on as well. It’s amazing how jealousy turned people you thought of as good guys into such bitter old men.

You have those types in every type of profession and every walk of life.

“Always Do Your Best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.”~Miguel Angel Ruiz

Ruiz speaks the truth, right to the core of my thinking. Regrets are like a disease, a virus that spreads though your body. The more you feed it the more it will grow until it is all consuming. You abuse others for your regrets, your jealousy of those who did what you regret you didn’t do.

Regrets are easy to let go. Much like those memories of the first grade you can’t think of, regrets are in the past. I know, some regrets you have might be in your face every day.

“Regret is an odd emotion because it comes only upon reflection. Regret lacks immediacy, and so its power seldom influences events when it could do some good.”~William O Rourke

“Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming the consequences of any misfortune.”~William James

The above two quotes explain exactly what purpose regrets serve and how to move on from them or even avoid having them. The quote by William James goes along with something I said recently.

“Recognition of truths in your life is a big step toward a happier you. A bigger step is taking action upon that recognition.”~Me

We all have disappointments in our lives, those missed opportunities that we brought about by our own action or inaction. Nothing can be done about them now. Well, at least most of them can’t be changed. Looking forward is always the best thing to do, even if there are no regrets in your past.

For an article I wrote about a luncheon with a top executive and self-made woman with Coca-Cola visitDo your best…or not at all…advice from success”.

Tomorrow is #BeWoW Day. Any regrets?

Tomorrow is #BeWoW Wednesday, my weekly Twitter blogshare of positive posts. This week I thought, if you needed an idea, you could tell us, How you deal with regrets.

An excerpt from my post “Regrets are where they belong, in the past.”

You don’t have to use that as your idea, but if you need an idea, there you have it.

All you need do is write a post, Tweet it with the hashtag of #BeWoW just as it appears there. It stands for Be Wonderful on Wednesday. The post needs to be about positivity, encouragement, motivation, or just something positive. This isn’t a spammer share where you tweet everything you have.

Also I will post my #BeWoW and if you want my Readers to possibly see yours, paste your link in the comments of mine and they might go visit. That will make certain I see them.

You may seem some other  types of tweets in the #BeWoW hashtag but you’ll be able to tell which are which. It’s pretty simple.

Don’t just RT a tweet, and do RT them otherwise why do this, right? But go and visit the post as well. I’ve made some friends and found some surprises.

See you tomorrow. And make sure you are #BeWaTT! Be Wonderfull all The Time!

Be Okay with You!

Be okay with who you are. I am okay with who I am. I guess okay is a mild world but I think if I went around saying I am great with who I am all the time I would sound a bit strange. Sometimes I feel like junk, so even though I understand it, it’s part of my everyday life now, and I can look past it to my life overall, I’m still going to say okay.

Some people out there, motivational people, don’t like you saying things like “I’m okay”, they want you to say “I’m fantastic.” Sorry but I’m not a subliminal self-cheerleader. If I want a cheerleader, I have three that I can turn to anytime who will help me out.

So, it’s fine to say you’re okay. You knowing you mean is what matters.

Now, part of being okay with you is realizing that whatever you are might have some feedback coming. An example is my being in a handicap spot at the grocery store when I look healthy. I’m going to get looks and comments. I don’t say anything but I still feel it, but I’m good with it. If I have a problem with it, believe me, I’ll say something and I’ll say it in such a way the person would be standing there with their mouth open wondering what just happened.

It’s like my son likes to do at school. He’ll explain something to a bully in such a way the bully has no idea what was just said and feel so dumb they have to walk away. It pays to be a nerd/gifted kid who reads at least 4-5 grade levels ahead.

But here is a piece of advice to the friends of those people who are okay with who they are. You be okay with them. If a situation like the handicap spot comes up, follow their lead. If they don’t have a problem, you don’t have a problem. Trust me, the okay person knows what to do better than you do most of the time.

Me? I don’t feed the ignorance. I see the same people at places and I don’t get the looks from them. They have either figured out I belong in the handicap spot or they realize they have no influence on me. And just like the bully, they walk away.

Now some of you will say that you can’t ignore everything, and believe me, I know that. When it is aimed at you, do what you want to, but when it’s your friend? Yeah, it’s your friend’s call.

I’m an easygoing guy. Well, I am mostly. Mess with my son? It’s on like Brenda Song. Hmm, not sure that is the write rhyme, but hey, I like Brenda Song.

We give fuel to words and actions. We do this for ourselves for positive good or we can give it to others for use for negative bad. The choice is yours. Do you have the strength to be okay with who you are?

10 or maybe 11 Quotes of Positivity.

I wanted to share some quotes about positivity today. You know, sometimes people read what you write and get kind of bored with it or get into that hearing you drone about something. I thought instead I would let others drone today, just to show this isn’t simply me talking about some self-help to a better you thing.

“Positive anything is better than negative nothing.”~Elbert Hubbard

“In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision.”~Dalai Lama stated as he pointed to his head. (2010 visit to the US)

“Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier”-Colin Powell

“My dear friend, clear your mind of can’t.”~Samuel Johnson

“I really struggle with that feeling of helplessness. That’s why I really try to get my blogs, and even myself, to point to the positive and look at all the inspiring things that are happening.”~Daryl Hannah

“Love yourself. It is important to stay positive because beauty comes from the inside out.”~Jenn Proske

“There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.”~W. Clement Stone

“I’m a very positive person. My grandmother taught me that happiness is both a skill and a decision, and you are responsible for the outcome.”~Helen McCrory

I thought I would end my Positive 10 with two more from the Dalai Lama’s visit to the US back in 2010.

“Smiling throughout his interview, the Dalai Lama said that evil will always be with us, but that’s not news.

“Some mischievous people always there. Last several thousand years, always there. In future, also,” he said in his distinctive idiom.

Like so many others, he wagged a gently chiding finger at the news media for highlighting the negative.

“The news, the media highlight these negative things. Positive things take for granted; not news,” the Dalai Lama said.”~From the Today Show.

My way to keep moving on when down? My #BeWoW Post.

I wanted to do something light and simple for today’s BeWoW post. I always get myself in the trap of trying to write something that is informative of inspirational as far as how I deal with my everyday health problems and putting a positive spin on things to keep going.

Well, one way to do that is, can you guess?

That’s right, don’t try to put a spin on anything. Just go with the flow and find something to make your day fun and frolicsome. Wow, that’s a word? Did I just admit I didn’t know that’s a word? I’ll blame it on the amnesia/concussion.

So one thing I do to have fun is Youtube. I can’t really watch TV but I can do little clips or interviews. So I thought of Natalie Imbruglia one day. One of the most gorgeous women EVER!

Okay, I’m good now. I can continue.

Anyway, I saw an interview with her and that led me to her song Torn. Duh, right? Well here is a different version. Awesome.

And now you know how I pass the time sometimes. When I can’t write I can at least have some fun.

Love Connection. A #BeWoW and #1000Speak Poem.

Sometimes you need to lose a connection to find a connection. One you have may not be the one you need. Once that one is lost, or ended, a new one may enter your life. Connections come and go. Don’t dwell on the lost ones. Focus on the ones not yet made, or the one newly made that may have been the reason for your existence.

Always be open and aware of words and actions. Combined they can tell you the truth. If they conflict, so long. If they agree, then awesome.

This is another entry for the #BeWoW and #1000Speak for today dealing with Connecting.

Love-Connection

Next Door

Brick Walls
No Resistance

Coping All
Always Well
Frequent Falls
Temporary Hell

Wishing Blind
Heaven Found

Forgotten Purpose
Eternal Appointment

Quiet Peace
Constant Pain
Sweet Release

Your Ordinary is My Extraordinary. #BeWoW

Ordinary and extraordinary, two words with different meanings and words that kind of confuse me at times. I see a lot of saying this is an ordinary this or an extraordinary that. Perhaps even I say those things at times, but for real, what is the deal?

Do you want to be extra ordinary, which basically means remarkable, exceptional, or special? What? So being ordinary is sort of being remarkable?

Now we come to what I want to talk about. What really is meant by ordinary? I see people say this about a poem or a book or a picture they drew and to me whatever it is seems awesome.

None of us should ever sell ourselves short on whatever we do. At that moment in time that is what you are doing and can do. “But I could have done better.” Maybe so but at that moment you did what you did and can’t change it so why dwell on it? Like I’ve said many times in my writings, dwelling is a house made of wood or brick, not a place to live in made of your past mistakes or missed opportunities.

Ordinary to you may be extraordinary to me. By changing how you look at what you do perhaps you will change how you do. Just consider every moment as your best moment. No matter what it is, it is the best at that moment you can have. And then that moment is replaced by the next best moment.

I don’t dwell in the past, I can’t. I know some of you may be thinking since Ronovan has amnesia it’s kind of a given that I can’t dwell there. But I don’t dwell on what I miss. I can’t. If I do then I miss out on what is happening now, what can happen and what may make me better as a person and maybe one day make everything come back to me. If I dwell on the negatives and the stress of life I will never accomplish anything.

I am working on cartooning right now. With my hands, body, and mind it is probably one of the worst things I could be doing, but it is something I WANT. I could tell myself it is impossible so give up and lie in bed all day and stop doing anything. But I don’t. I push and push until I get to where I want to be or at least continue on that path.

Today realize your ordinary is extraordinary. The foundation of exceptional is based in your everyday life. Keep moving forward and fill your life with special.

The Unity of Humanity My #BeWoW article.

I’ve been very concerned about the racial tensions in the US. I’m not concerned for myself personally as my relationships are fine with all walks of life. As I’ve said before, I don’t see races not do I treat people as races. I’m not sure if my song got that from me or not but he’s friends with everyone.

As everywhere I look I see these almost indoctrination like attempts by media and politics to force on all of us the idea we ARE different I become incredibly angry.

Why do people allow others, others who make money through ratings on fear, dictate how we think and live?

Smart is smart, funny is funny, talented is talented, and beautiful is beautiful. Those are things we have in common across the board of humanity. Oh, and yes, ugly is ugly and dumb is dumb. I know, not nice things to say, but I know I’m not good looking, and I’m not the smartest new kid on the block. I’m okay with it. I know there is another person in another country with the exact same ugly and lack of smarticles that I have but with a different skin tone or regional facial features.

Having completed the A to Z Blogging Challenge using a comic book creators around the world as a theme, I discovered even more how much alike we all are. People from different countries inspired to do something for the same reasons, and some giving almost identical answers to questions that are very personal.

My positive message today is through everything always remember we are all the same, just in different situations. Don’t listen to and allow constant bombardment of negativity make it a reality.

One Family Race. My #BeWoW post.

There has been a lot of violence lately in the US based on racial problems. There are even now reports of gangs, very prominent gangs, stating they are now going to be targeting the police. Apparent members of those gangs have since stated that is false.

I’m not one to describe races. I see skin tones and some physical differences but that’s not a different race. There is no such thing. I am greatly disturbed at the lack of response to curb the behavior of what’s happening. On one side, if you are an government employee you become a neutral party. There should be no need for anything said, but there is a need.be-wow-blogger

Some police officers, all the way up and down the chain are stupid. You can take that to the political arena if you like. Then you have the citizens. For some reason there is an environment that believes mob mentality and destruction of property will gain something. The President of the US spoke to the situation recently occurring in Baltimore where the National Guard had to be called  due to days of peaceful protest being ignited into a riot by what might be opportunist looking to use a riot to hide looting.

Watch the full words of the President here. The comments are part of a larger press conference with the PM of Japan but the video jumps to those words specifically about the Baltimore situation and others. I advise those who want to depend on their own hearing of his entire speech as opposed to the various networks edited versions to give their own desired spin, listen. It’s worth it. I’ll leave it at that.

The Positive of the Day

Now for positive parts of today. My son is awesome. For the longest time he didn’t even know a person might be called black. His preschool teachers were normally African Americans and he loved them a lot. As far as he knew they just and darker skin and that’s how he described people. An African American was a darker skinned person. A Chinese girl was the pretty little girl with dark hair.

He knows now because other people have described people certain ways. Actually his African American teachers told him they were black at some point. I may be a bit unique in the house about how I view it all. Every skin tone, hair color, and eye shape can marry each other. Some don’t think you should, just because of the problems it might cause either the couple or the kids later on.

It’s the 21st Century. There are ‘interracial couples’ in my church and are active members who are loved by everybody. You don’t see color. You see family.

To me that’s what people are, family. Even people I can’t stand are family if you go back far enough. We are all cousins to some humongous degree number. Even if you don’t believe in the Bible and God, and you believe in slime to man or man and gorilla have a common ancestors, you still have to think there were only so many original humans and we all came from the same ones. Science has shown we come from one woman or at least share DNA like that.

We’re family. Act like it. Sure, families disagree, but they don’t kill each other. They may not speak, may ignore, may even move away, but they don’t kill. Well hopefully. I mean they might if they are nuts.

Yes, family talks bad about each other, but under it all they love each other and push comes to shove they will be there for each other. I wish that was how it was now. Perhaps with a different world view, a different mindset of who we are and how we are connected we all would get to that point.

Love hard. My #BeWoW advice to my younger self.

Dear Me,

You will go through a lot of strange moments in your life. I’m not going to tell you what they are because I wouldn’t change anything that has made me who I am today, not even the bad moments. But I do have some advice.

There are so many times you will ALLOW others to bring you down. Your heart will break, be crushed. And that’s okay, I won’t tell you who by. Go ahead and fall in love. Love. Pour your heart into it. When things don’t turn out the way you like, don’t LET it almost destroy you. Use those moments to perhaps write. You want to be a writer but may not know it yet.

Always have hope. Keep it in mind that life exists tomorrow. All those disappointments have happened and are over. You make your future today. Love, work, life? All of those moments of trial and agony? Yes, you will feel it in the moment but don’t let it eat you alive to spiritual and emotional death.

But do experience those emotional moments, they will help you in the future to handle other moments. You will become someone who can understand others with the same moments in their lives. You will be able to help people and want to help them.

Love hard. Don’t go halfway. But take your time to know who you are about to love hard. And when you know its the right person, love hard in every way. Make that person know your love is a tangible thing that exists even when you are not in the room.

Loving hard might mean you fall hard and are broken had but the experience of love filling your heart, your soul, your entire being is worth every moment. Even if it’s for a day or a week, experience it. It’s worth every it.

That’s my advice today. Let those moments of agony go and use them to make you better and love hard with everything you’ve got.

Let’s connect.

Tomorrow is #BeWoW Day. What advice would you give your younger self?

Tomorrow is #BeWoW Wednesday, my weekly Twitter blogshare of positive posts. This week the suggested topic is to write to yourself “Advice you would give to your younger self.”

An excerpt from my letter.

“Sure, you will feel it in the moment but don’t let it eat you alive to spiritual and emotional death.”

A writer with class is who influences me.

A lot of people influence us in many ways. Some are good ways, some bad. These days I hope I’ve gotten past allowing people to be bad influences. At some point you know better. Then if you are honest with yourself, the only influence on you is you because you should be mature enough to know what to allow into your world of decision making and judgment making or not.

Who have I allowed into my world to be a good source to draw upon?

I suppose it all depends on what aspect of my life I am considering. I’ve been doing a lot of research on artists and writers in the world of what I call Graphic Literature. I have found one that has shown to me he is a class act.

His writing is world class. He can write any form from the comic book to the novel and sell millions of copies of either. But that talent is not what I look at for inspiration.

I’ve watched several videos of him speaking in different venues and audience situations. And in every instance he remains a class act. He is always helpful and engaging with the audience. He never acts as though he is anything special, although he must know his talent is or he would not do it.

His sense of humor in various social media is entertaining and he likes to poke fun at himself at times.

His most famous comic creation is a title his boss told him one day to go and create a new version of this comic with this name anyway you like.

Sandman made Neil Gaiman a sensation. He has not stopped since that day. No matter the number of sales, the amount of fame, he stays the same. When meeting a comic book legend who created Spider-Man, a man named Steve Ditko, he came out of the building like a fan boy in awe and giddy. It was the coolest thing I had seen.

Talent? Yes, but others have talent. Gaiman has class.

Tomorrow is #BeWoW blogshare. Who has been a positive influence on you?

Tomorrow is #BeWoW Wednesday, my weekly Twitter blogshare of positive posts. This week, because of my Sunday post, I thought if you haven’t come up with something yet, how about writing something about a person who has been a positive influence on your life and why.
