Finding Time to Blog. Huh?

(A post from my drafts folder to share until my laptop arrives.)

“My blogging life is basically goalless. I like the zen nature of that, and paradoxically, it improves results.”~Seth Godin

I’ve been asked in the past about how to find time to blog. Do you have time to ask me that question? If the answer is yes, you have the time to blog. Do you have time to read a blog? If the answer is yes, you have time to write a blog. I don’t think people are really asking me about time. Then what are they asking me about?

“How do I come up with ideas?

“What do people will like to read?”

“Ronovan, WHAT DO I WRITE ABOUT?!”

I have no idea what you should write about. Why? Because I’m not you. But I suppose like any other blogging non-expert I can tell you what I have done.

The truth is when you first begin to blog you might end up writing about a lot of different things until you find what you are most comfortable with. I was heavy into some dark poetry. It was basically a time I was dealing with my amnesia and before being diagnosed and treated for various health issues. But a great many people identified with it. I have no idea why nor did I attempt to keep writing it in order to keep a certain audience.

I can’t write poetry quite like that now because I am in a much better place. I obviously didn’t give up blogging or writing poetry. Now I write whatever comes to me, regardless of subject or audience. It’s my blog. Thus I blog what I blog.

The first thing you need to decide, once you get down to actually wanting to write a blog post is to decide your purpose for blogging.

Your purpose.

Is your brain hurting yet? Don’t worry, it isn’t that bad. It’s just that some people have blogs for professional or semi-professional reasons. My blog has many purposes.

Some people want to share a hobby, some a cultural or family history. Well things based on that culture.

Many like to explore writing. This one is greatly accommodated here in WordPress. There are many blogs with writing prompts you use and then link back to the original prompt and receive some visitors to your blog. Of course the Daily Post also has prompts. My Haiku Challenge is a Daily Post Event.

WordPress also holds Blogging 101 and 102 to help people get started. I personally found my own way to where I am. Personal interests will lead you to your topics.

If you like a topic then most likely there are others who do as well.

After Your Purpose.

If you are blogging for professional reasons, stick to that topic. People will be visiting you for that specific reason. As for a blog of whatever, much like mine, stay honest and real…you can’t go wrong. People will pick up on fake every time.

As for time?

You can speak more words in 5 minutes than you think. Just type. Don’t write to your audience…talk to them. You don’t have to entertain, simply share. You don’t have to have long posts. They can be no more than 300 words if you like. I did that for a time. I kept my posts under 300 words. It was an exercise in writing as much as it was in not having to write long posts.

“There are 100 million blogs in the world, and it’s part of my job as the co-founder of WordPress to help many more people start blogging.”~Matt Mullenweg

More to come another time. Hope this helps a little for now.

Finding Happiness.

I did a guest post on Meanings and Musings, Florence’s blog. Go take a look, won’t you?

Hello to all. Florence doesn’t know I’m here right now so please…don’t tell I came for a visit.

“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance.”~Oscar Wilde

I give a great deal of thought each day on achieving happiness. Actually thinking in great depth about something brings me happiness, so I guess I fulfill my quest for it each day.

Being able to devote copious amounts of time, and quiet time at that, I’ve wrestled the subject of contentment from many different sides.

To make a very long struggle short for the sake of your sanity and my strain in writing these days, I now give my oh-so-wise realization.

Determine the things that give you joy.

So often you are asked “What makes you happy?” and then, how often do you either struggle for an answer or allow your shoulders to sag and reply with, “I don’t…

Writer’s #Quote Wednesday #Friendship

In response to the weekly Writer’s Quote Wednesday community event by Colleen Chesebro of SilverThreading.com. Colleen is my fellow LitWorldInterviews team member and a loyal Haiku Challenge participant.

“The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it.” ~Hubert H. Humphrey (American Vice President and Author.)

I discovered I have written specifically about friendship over two dozen times here and I guest blogs. Perhaps it’s a favorite subject of mine.

Use your life to make a friend.

A short message today, for obvious reasons to the usual suspect of reader friends.

Doing without is an experience we all say we wouldn’t wish on anyone. I was thinking about doing without my laptop, not in a drastic or tragic sort of way, but with how my mind works it rambled to other places.

Going hungry, sleeping in a car, going without the love of a parent. Sometimes those experiences allow you to understand others better. Those moments in your life humble you and ground you. No, I don’t wish anyone to go through those moments either.

But for those who have?

Embrace whatever the experience, no matter how difficult and use it to help others, even if that help is simply doing the hardest thing there is…being a friend.

Wednesday Words: #Enjoy #Life #Quotes

“I realize that humor isn’t for everyone. It’s only for people who want to have fun, enjoy life, and feel alive.” ~Anne Wilson Schaef For Colleen Chesebro’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday

“The safest course is to do nothing against one’s conscience. With this secret, we can enjoy life and have no fear from death.”~Voltaire

“I’ve never really taken anything very seriously. I enjoy life because I enjoy making other people enjoy it.” ~Tim Conway

Stand Up to Release.

caroline kennedy quote imageIt is not easy to stand up against your constituents or your friends or colleagues or your community and take a tough stand for something you believe is right. Because you always want to keep working and live to fight another battle and it might cost you your career.”~Caroline Kennedy

How often do people like to tell you that what you think is wrong or what you believe is wrong? And how often do you then stay quiet or back down?

A lot of people complain about the world but are silent when it comes to the things they have problems with.

Part of being positive in the world, finding your positive place and place of peace is to release those things inside of you. If you believe in something, then live that something. If you believe something is right, then stand up for that something.

Negativity comes from regrets. Regrets come from not doing things you should do. How often is your mind filled with those missed chances at standing up for what you believe in? More often than you think. Your fantasies and dreams stem from missed chances. You may think about a better job. Maybe that better job you want is because you missed an opportunity you thought should be yours.

Do you think about possible relationships? Broken relationships? Maybe even a current relationship that is poison?

Fear keeps people from standing up for what they think is right. That fear will lead to a life time of negativity, doubt, sadness, regrets. You don’t have to confront people, you can simply say that it’s over and be done with it. Walk away.

Other issues require speaking up. I know for a fact that anger can build up by being silent. That anger interferes with attaining the peace you want. Look at the quote at the beginning. If people don’t accept you for you and what you are and believe, then you don’t need them, they aren’t your friend or people you need to be around or a workplace you need to be in.

Sunday Golf and the hard headed.

As you may have read in my last post I have been given the challenge to share three quotes with you in three consecutive posts by Greg of Potholes in the Road of Life.

Let me tell a little story.

A preacher repeatedly heard from his friends about the joys of playing golf on Sunday. Sunday players got a discount, they said, yet the golf course was never overcrowded like it was during the rest of the week. It was so peaceful, that a person could really concentrate on his game.

Being a man of the cloth, of course, the preacher worked on Sunday. But, also being a avid golf fan, the preacher found the temptation to try the Sunday game strong and persistent.  Finally, the preacher gave in. He called his assistant to say he was sick and to turn the sermon over to him. Then, he grabbed his clubs and headed for the golf course.

The day was sunny and bright. The course was peaceful and quiet. His friends were right. Sunday was a perfect day to play golf.

But, up in heaven, God and his angels were watching the preacher as he set up his first tee. “God,” said the smallest angel, “You have to do something about this! The man is a preacher! This isn’t right!”

“Don’t worry,” said God. “I’ve got the situation well in hand.”

The preacher took his swing. THWAK!!! The ball wisked through the air straight and true as an arrow. HOLE IN ONE!!!!!!!

At the second hole, the preacher takes a swing, and gets ANOTHER HOLE IN ONE!!!!!!

Finally, after all 18 holes, the priest has gotten a hole in one at EVERY HOLE!!!!!

“But, God!” cried the smallest angel. “This is terrible! How could you let him get a hole in one every time, when he shouldn’t even be playing golf today?”

God turned to the angel with a smile. “Who can he tell about it?”

I told that story one Sunday morning as I stood before the church stalling for time as the choir director and choir were late to arrive and we were on radio and could not have dead air. The only problem is I did not tell the story that well.

As I reflected on it I realized why. I have an aversion to golf. No, don’t get me wrong. I love golf. I enjoy watching a small amount of it at times. All those beautiful greens.

I even went golfing with my father. He tried to show me the game and I was not bad at it. He even gave me a set of clubs.

One day we were on the fairway and he pulls out a driver, a wood. This would end up being a fortunate thing. He wanted me to watch his swing to see how to do it.

He placed me in position to get the best look. About 20 seconds later a 16 year old boy named Ronovan was grateful the club had been a wood instead of an iron. You see the wood is large and slightly rounded. The iron, well the name says it all.

Ronovan was grateful because the head of the club hit him squarely, dead center in the forehead. Ronovan did not fall down. He did not cry. He did not even make a sound.

He did get  to drive the golf car the rest of the game and have a very nice meal afterwards.

I tell that story to show why I believe I did not do well at telling the previous story. I have an aversion to golf. Well that and the fact we were live on radio and my part of the service was finished on time and I had nothing left to go with. There is just so many times you can say Happy Birthday to the two little old ladies, especially when one was so proud of being the oldest lady in the church and was very smug about it.

A quote? I know that’s where this was to lead.

1 Timothy 4:16a ESV

“Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching.”

I am not ashamed…

Greg from over at Potholes In The Road of Life nominated me to be involved in a Three Day Quote Challenge, sharing a quote three posts in a row. Since he’s a friend and is faithfully dedicated to doing my Haiku Challenge each week, how can I say no, right? So I’ll see what I can do.

Romans 1:16 New International Version (NIV)

romans-1-1616 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

I decided to pick three of my favorite quotes. What better quote than one from Paul about 2000 years ago? But why did I pick this one?

Many people read the book of Romans chapter by chapter. In doing so they fail to understand the message. For centuries since the Bible was divided into chapters and verses  some misunderstandings have been around. And Romans chapters one and two being divided as they are has been one of the biggest.

But I digress. The reason Romans 1:16 is a favorite quote is because of what it says. All are included in salvation who believe in the gospel.

I also like how it says “I am not ashamed of the gospel”. Some Christians are ashamed to admit they believe in Jesus to their friends. And they certainly are afraid to say they believe in his teachings. I’m not certain why except for all those misunderstandings ingrained throughout the generations by the ill informed.

The gospel, the truth, the power. God took the control of sin out of Satan’s hand and put it into the hands of each person as their own choice to make. The perfect sacrifice, Jesus, God in flesh as man, suffering as man, without power to give us a chance.

And since the day I realized the truth of all of that, not the day I became a Christian, but years later, I have not been ashamed to say what I am. Many celebrities are ashamed. No one wants to be ridiculed as the next Tim Tebow. Oh how he’s suffered. Sarcasm there. Only time he ever was a teams starting quarterback in the NFL he lead a down and out team to the playoffs and actually won some games.

So I am proud to say I am not ashamed of the gospel. It gives me a confidence in my final destination and a peace within me in not fearing the future.

In the Quiet Hours. Find Positivity.

Confucious Silence is a Friend

In the Quiet Hours. Last week I discussed Creating a Positive Environment and how you needed to be serious about it and how there would be difficult decisions to be made. Something unusual happens when you enter a quiet place. That place being the newly formed room in your chaotic mind.

Do you really want to be rid of negative relatives? I pretty much no longer speak to one of mine. I have reflected on that and came to realize something. I came to realize how that break actually came about.

Over the past weekend I lost my peaceful world for a time. I was angry with the citizens of my nation and their ugliness in exchanges over various issues. I was angry at myself and my situation in which parts of I have no actual control at the moment, but I am working on it. I was angry at the drop of a hat.

I tell you this to show you that there are times you slip out of that Positive Environment. Why? Because we are human and our brains are truly chaotic. AND our brains are connected to our hearts. Those hearts do so much good and so much damage.

fancis bacon silence nourishes wisdomAm I angry now? I have turned anger into disappointment. Disappointment is something I can handle. I can eventually turn disappointment into a moment in time in a string of events to a better time. I can examine and grow myself by learning what I felt and thought during those anger moments.

To learn I need a quiet room in my mind. I need those Quiet Hours. Quiet Hours lead to quiet times, quiet environments. By being the person you want to be, others see it. They will either like it, accept it or they will reject it. If they reject it and you are someone they cannot push around with their words and antagonizing, they slowly leave your environment, or quickly do so.

In other words, you don’t need to tell a negative person to leave your life, they will do it on their own when they can no longer handle the shining light of positivity and happiness you exude all the time.

Now you can actually confront and remove someone from your life but that’s a decision for you to make. It also depends on how bad that person is in your life. No situation is the same. There is silence of the mind and silence in wisdom and there is also the silence in cowardice. This is not the  later. That is a discussion for another time.

helen keller content in whatever stateI found the below after I wrote the article and came up with my title. I don’t believe in coincidences. I and Find Positivity to the title after I had completed putting this article together.

Quotes of Habits & Attitudes.

chuck-maragos

“Habits are strange. Some are positive and serve us well, and some are negative and do us harm. However, we profit when we remember we entered this world with none and we will depart with none. As habits form silently, constantly, and relentlessly, their pervasive impacts are often unnoticed. Yet they control our life. Although productive habits are invaluable, and bad habits are costly and difficult to break, all the effective listening leaders I know spend an inordinate amount of time studying, consciously shaping, and refining their habits.”~Chuck Maragos

Live in the Now, not in the Then.

“The only use of an obstacle is to be overcome. All that an obstacle does with brave men is, not to frighten them, but to challenge them.”~Woodrow Wilson

Two weeks ago I asked you to Make a List of Your Negatives, while last week I said to get rid of one of those negatives. Two problems with that last one. One, the article was long and few people read it. The other problem, for those who read it I imagine you were expecting me to tell you how to get rid of those negatives. By the way, there was more to the article than ‘get rid of one of those negatives’.

Today I’ll attempt to be brief and tell you how to be rid of negatives.

X Out the Past and 0 Out Your Future

Let’s take your list of negatives in their nice columns and for every negative that comes from a past event place an x beside it. For every negative whose source lies in the future, in other words something you are wanting but can’t have yet or may never have, place a little circle beside it.

Now realize you are looking at things that cannot be reached or dealt with in the present. Wait before you start yelling about controlling what might happen in the future.

Those Past Negatives are in the past. Unless you want to apologize to someone or forgive someone, you are most likely out of luck. Drop those Past Negatives. And if you haven’t apologized or forgiven in all these years and are having problems with it, that’s called Regret. You can visit my Regrets are where they belong, in the past from this past Wednesday for some good quotes about regrets.

Know You Are In The Now

Expecting anything from someone else is a Negative you will never control. That’s one Negative you are to never allow to take a rest in your mind. It’s time to live in the now, not the yesterday, not the future, but the now. Here. Now. Not in the what you wished you had or what you hope to have, but in the what you have. You can work toward what you want to have some day, but that’s some day. That’s a goal, not a Negative.

Take your list, do the x’s and o’s and start working your way through those x’s. And really, if you are strong enough, you can toss them all, but if you haven’t already done that, then you most likely will need to take the baby steps I’ve talked about previously. There is no hurry, no race, no trophy.

You need to:

  • Think about why that Negative happened
  • What you had to do with it
  • Why it is still hanging with you
  • What can you do about it
  • What it has done to your life
  • Then realize it is over

That last part is the most difficult. Read through the article again and you’ll see why you are to let it go and let it be over. You’re in control of it all. Don’t ALLOW anything, especially a memory to control YOU.

Live in the here and now, and enjoy life.

“When faced with a challenge, happy families, like happy people, just add a new chapter to their life story that shows them overcoming the hardship. This skill is particularly important for children, whose identity tends to get locked in during adolescence.”~Bruce Feiler

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”~Helen Keller

“Begin to be now what you will be hereafter.”~William James

“Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.”~Pope John XXIII

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.”~Maya Angelou

“Quality is not an act, it is a habit.”~Aristotle

“We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change.”~Katharine Hepburn

Regrets are where they belong, in the past.

“Those who enjoy their own emotionally bad health and who habitually fill their own minds with the rank poisons of suspicion, jealousy and hatred, as a rule take umbrage at those who refuse to do likewise, and they find a perverted relief in trying to denigrate them.”~Johannes Brahms

When you go through life you end up running across people who, for some reason, think you are a threat to them. It has nothing to do with you having done anything wrong. I’ve seen examples of a lot of what Brahms spoke of above.

I watch interviews with these old professional wrestlers I watched when I was a kid. I do so in part because they were part of a time when I lived with my grandmother, back around 6 or 7 and when we visited her later on as well. It’s amazing how jealousy turned people you thought of as good guys into such bitter old men.

You have those types in every type of profession and every walk of life.

“Always Do Your Best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.”~Miguel Angel Ruiz

Ruiz speaks the truth, right to the core of my thinking. Regrets are like a disease, a virus that spreads though your body. The more you feed it the more it will grow until it is all consuming. You abuse others for your regrets, your jealousy of those who did what you regret you didn’t do.

Regrets are easy to let go. Much like those memories of the first grade you can’t think of, regrets are in the past. I know, some regrets you have might be in your face every day.

“Regret is an odd emotion because it comes only upon reflection. Regret lacks immediacy, and so its power seldom influences events when it could do some good.”~William O Rourke

“Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming the consequences of any misfortune.”~William James

The above two quotes explain exactly what purpose regrets serve and how to move on from them or even avoid having them. The quote by William James goes along with something I said recently.

“Recognition of truths in your life is a big step toward a happier you. A bigger step is taking action upon that recognition.”~Me

We all have disappointments in our lives, those missed opportunities that we brought about by our own action or inaction. Nothing can be done about them now. Well, at least most of them can’t be changed. Looking forward is always the best thing to do, even if there are no regrets in your past.

Unbearable? I’m Positive.

Drawing of Mark Twain with Quote“Drag your thoughts away from your troubles… by the ears, by the heels, or any other way you can manage it.”~Mark Twain

“Dwelling is a house you live in, not a situation to waste your life on.”~Ronovan

I had great plans for writing today. I ended up with something else. Great or not is not for me to decide. I write, you read. Opinions are made. Words are put down in either situation, planned or not, the results may end up the same. I personally am okay with whatever happens.

A day meant for creating a biography of my inspiration for wanting to become a teacher, Sidney Poitier in the movie To Sir with Love, along with quotes from his autobiography lying next to my notebook and me, turned into a day of pain that many would call unbearable. I can laugh at that phrase.

People say they went through unbearable this or that. I like to ask, “If it was so unbearable, why am I am speaking to you standing up, instead of speaking over you lying down?”

My sadistic joy comes from the looks of puzzlement. Looking to the quotes I put forth at the beginning today, and my presence here in writing this article, what my opinion is on the unbearable pain I have gone through over the past few days, and specifically the past 24 hours should be apparent.

My Fibromyalgia is an ugly animal. It is one I have come to know and respect. Never become too comfortable with an animal, even a pet. Once you do, something will happen. A new trait comes out. Or maybe something totally unrelated. Hopefully to find out soon.

What have I done today?

  • I cannibalized the first few chapters of my book to create a new beginning.
  • Had a great surprise with one of my articles being selected for the KindnessBlog.com.
  • Dr. KO and I had an exchange in comments on a post that was enjoyable.
  • I have an author interview agreement with a very nice lady.
  • And every other moment I slept.

Why sleep? Sleep don’t hurt. But also, I need sleep. What I did today was make progress in many areas and rested as much as I could. Rest isn’t something I don’t normally do. Even while succumbing to Chronic Fatigue it isn’t rest I am getting.

Even now while writing this article I have stopped several times due to the pain. I rarely ever stop because of pain. An article that should have taken me 15 minutes has so far taken me over two hours.

I’ve enjoyed it. Thinking is a great pastime for me. I love to get thinky, as I like to call it. This past year and half has allowed for some great thinky times. Every day I have a thinky moment. At least one. Usually more. That’s one reason I blog. I like to use those thinky times as inspiration for articles. Be grateful I don’t put all those moments on the blog.

I mentioned earlier that I was happy with whatever the results of the article might be today. Why? I wrote. That’s why. Did I write well? Not really, but I wrote. And that is a positive day to me.

Remember to connect with me at one of the following. Well, at least one.

18 Quotes to Inspire Writers, Bloggers–Everyone.

The guy that came up with the Positivity campaign has a problem as he sits here and begins typing. He needs to think of something to write about. Part of the beginning an article with an idea yet to be developed is 18-quotespressure to write an article that is specifically about a certain topic. I gave ideas for others involved to do if they wanted help thinking of something. I am contrary to myself at times. I wanted to do an article instead. I think I like to hear myself type. Now, here I am—writer’s blocked.

As I typed those last two words, the idea came to me. There is something that gets in the way of all of us at times. It keeps us from being positive as often as we could. Did you see the words be positive all of the time in that last sentence?

I may attempt to be positive all the time, but there are life’s lessons that will come my way I need to wade through. Those are the moments that make me healthier mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. They are the moments that make my positive moments stronger. And they help me be more helpful in a positive way to others.

There are things we need to keep in mind. Pressures are often things we put upon ourselves. In reality they are all put upon by us in that we choose to accept the pressure moments. Yes, we have responsibilities, but within those responsibilities there should be an acceptance of reality; things will happen we need to work through, work with, stay calm through.

As I write whatever piece I am writing, those moments of stress come to me quite often as I attempt to capture the perfect voice, word, or phrasing. The books I am an author of are filled with pressure moments I have worked my way thorough. Only recently have I discovered a way to deal with them that may actually be a breakthrough for me.

With that in mind I have several quotes to share, to keep in mind. They are in the order in which I discovered them. I felt an order would negate perhaps the reason I found them in the way I did. Enjoy.

Brighten Up Your Future In The Present

“Why not dream big? One way to cast your anchor into the future while improving your mood for the moment is to plan something exciting, something positive, something that makes you smile. Maybe it’s a vacation, maybe it’s a night out with someone special or maybe it’s just some much-needed “me” time/ Make a plan, set a date–and then bask in the anticipation.”

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self doubt.” Sylvia Plath

Female Feature Friday: 10 Quotes of Anaïs Nin

Writing a blog allows for you to stumble upon things you have never experienced or perhaps have forgotten you once knew. I ran across a quote a time ago that spoke to people and they commented on the author of the quote. Since then I have read some other quotes and this had lead me to list a few of my shorter favorites today.

10 Quotes of Anaïs Nin

1

“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
― Anaïs Nin

My Thoughts: We interpret things based on our own experiences and thus preconceived ideas instead basing them on what they are as intended/

2

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.”
― Anaïs Nin

My Thoughts: If you aren’t brave enough to take steps then you stay where you are in your own little space of the world, especially in love, as I see life and love as greatly connected.

3

“I am only responsible for my own heart, you offered yours up for the smashing my darling. Only a fool would give out such a vital organ”
― Anaïs Nin

My Thoughts: A little cold for me. I am out for everyone’s heart but I see the meaning as a defense to protect one’s own heart, seemingly at all costs.

4

“From the backstabbing co-worker to the meddling sister-in-law, you are in charge of how you react to the people and events in your life. You can either give negativity power over your life or you can choose happiness instead. Take control and choose to focus on what is important in your life. Those who cannot live fully often become destroyers of life.”
― Anaïs Nin

My Thoughts: This goes along with a couple of articles I wrote about not letting others control you. You are ultimately responsible for those things that are within your decision/choice making area.

5

“Anxiety is love’s greatest killer. It makes others feel as you might when a drowning man holds on to you. You want to save him, but you know he will strangle you with his panic.”
― Anaïs Nin

My Thoughts: When one is having problems in a relationship then all are having a problem. Seeing it happening is like that panicked swimmer that you know is going to grab you and push you under without even realizing it, even though you are trying to save them.

6

“People living deeply have no fear of death.”
― Anaïs Nin

My Thoughts: Those who live happily are not afraid of what they have not yet done and would miss out upon.

7

“Do not seek the because – in love there is no because, no reason, no explanation, no solutions.”
― Anaïs Nin, Henry And June

My Thoughts: Perhaps a bit of disagreement in that this does not apply to all, but I can see that love is not always explainable. Sometimes you just have to let it be.

8

“There are two ways to reach me: by way of kisses or by way of the imagination. But there is a hierarchy: the kisses alone don’t work.”
― Anaïs Nin, Henry And June

My Thoughts: Oddly this is a belief of my own. Kisses with out the imagination behind them, for me intelligence, is not going to do it in regards to love.

9

“The secret of joy is the mastery of pain.”
― Anaïs Nin

My Thoughts: We all go through pain. Here I do not believe is a reference to actual physical pain but instead to teh pain of the heart in relation  to love. Yet, having mastery over both pains makes life more joyful.

10

“We are like sculptors, constantly carving out of others the image we long for, need, love or desire, often against reality, against their benefit, and always, in the end, a disappointment, because it does not fit them.”
― Anaïs Nin

My Thoughts: Some of us want love so badly that we grab onto the first reasonable solution to loneliness and then try to turn that person into what we have dreamed  of. It doesn’t work.?
