Before we begin, make certain to visit each person you haven’t already. Not sure who you visited? It doesn’t take but a few seconds to click and find out. The links open in a new window, unless you have your device setup for one window only. Opening in a new window means you don’t have to find where you were when completed reading of a Haiku. Some great photography this week, some insights into each others worlds. I very much enjoyed this one, as I do them all, but although there were some similarities in these it wasn’t difficult to go through so many and enjoy each one.

NEW! Michael Erb & Company: Heavenly Bound | Me and the Boss Poetry.  Three Haiku of a theme, at least there is one sort of to me. There is a GREAT photo used in conjunction with this. The contrast of colors, all vivid with the sunlight.  “Spring Hill, FL, United States Two nice old folks just hanging out, not hurting a bug or anything larger. The years have been kind to us and we now we are enjoying our golden years reading and writing. Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): A Haiku Perspective 2015 by Annette Rochelle AbenInspiration to Perspiration to Inspiration | Annette Rochelle Aben. Anyone knowing of recent events and especially perhaps a certain release by Annette will appreciate her Haiku this week and the title, although that Perspiration part is stretching it a tad bit much. Mira: (2 Links) My Mind | They, You And Me. She was so nice to write a Haiku about me!!! Sigh, if only. So sad for me. Heart and mind | To Wear a Rainbow.  Mira wrote an ad for the challenge this week. She captures one reason to write a Haiku. Some of you will undoubtedly say it’s the only reason I do. @BediMona

jazzytower: Follow the Whim | Thoughts and Entanglements. Letting the words fall where they may.

Clarence:(2 this week.) Fading Colors | PrarieChat. He turned a phrase here I keep going to. I will need to try and remember it for a future date.  Breaking Rules. I have half a mind to disqualify this one.

Alice: Deepening your language skills | Boomerang Zone. After reading this one it occurs to me how educational Haiku can be. Using synonyms and counting syllables. Also forming two sentences with three lines of poetry. Cool. @Vidocq_CC

Meredith & Martha: Haiku/Poetry by Meredith and Using the Noggin/Emotional Outpouring by Martha | Meredith’s Musings. Meredith, in her introduction to her and Martha’s Literary Angels offerings this week, gives the reason I don’t do an Opening Haiku now and wait to put out my own Haiku, although Mondays get good clicks. As for the Haiku this week? Meredith’s are great advertising for the Challenge, and I seriously mean that. I may actually use them as such if she is okay with it. And Martha’s do the same. With Emotional Outpouring being the more, I guess you would say, poetic of the bunch as far as all the emotional outpourings we do. @Meredithlbl

Elusive: Haiku-Mind | Elusive Trope. I at first thought the title was a display of the prompt words, but no. The challenge has turned in to a reason for doing Haiku Poetry on a Monday. I hadn’t even thought of it going in that direction.

Lizl: Change of Season | Quilted Poetry. The explanation going with this one is not only well written, in a poetic way, not rhyming or anything like that, but also captures the peaceful sense of nature Haiku should capture when done in the truest way.

Judy: Tortured Soul | Edwina’s Episodes. Poor Judy is participating in National Novel Writing Month but still took part in the challenge. Her piece this week speaks to NaNoWriMo just as much as it does to the Haiku Challenge. @EdwinasEpisodes

Kat: I Wrote a Haiku | like mercury colliding. Foggy lady is funny lady.

Nato of Window of Poetry | Chasing Life and Finding Dreams.  Michelle explains what or how Haiku comes about for her.  Visit Michelle Lunato Photography as well. @MichelleLunato

Sandra: Sharp | Wild Daffodil. I think this is Sandra’s best combining of the two challenges she does.  And I agree with her Haiku. When you visit you’ll see what I mean by Make the Most of Your Post.

Ritu: Haiku Form, Haiku Tax, and Haiku Class | But I Smile Anyway. That’s three Haiku. Now for me to read them. She tells it like it is. This is exactly what Haiku does. @PhantomGiggler

Greg: Nature’s Poetry | Potholes in the Road of Life. Well, I think you kind of get what it’s about from the title he gave it. @greg_wolford

Steven: Hanami and Washi | Ramblings of a Drabbling Mind. You know when you visit Steven you’re going to find something interesting. This week Hanami is the traditional Haiku with a very imagery filled piece, and Washi is the experimental piece which is just as imagery filled and amazingly easy to read. I think he nailed that one for even this concussed minded fool is able to understand.

Jen (JK): Contemplate | The Secret Keeper. That last line is a thinky link. Wrapping around it a bit. The image used is excellent and is  by Phantomphreaq at deviantart.com @occultguardian

Tessa: The Haiku Mind | Writing is my life. Tessa tells us how her mind works to form a Haiku. I’m glad she popped in for this one. Crazy, man, Crazy.

VronLacroix: Harmonic Haiku | Simply Shanpshots. Oh wow, this one is kind of sticking in my head. I so need to go to the next one.

Ronovan Behave | RonovanWrites. You know I don’t know how to behave. I went a little bit deeper with my usual emotional reveal this week. Well in the wording of and the complex sentence structure. It may look simple but some words had to be rearranged several times to get what I wanted. @RonovanWrites

Pat B.: Defined Refined | A season and a time. The two definitions of Haiku. I think they are most appropriate.  Pat is one of our Blogger blogs. So she visits us, not from WordPress. I like that. Crossing platforms and consistently so. Her participation, I feel, opens our challenge and community to others.

Annie: Haiku Is For You | Gentle Kindness. Um, that’s the title I could come up with. I lost count in the number of Haiku written. Go on over yonder and y’all see what I mean.

D.B. Mauldin (Author): What it is | mama bear musings. More definitions and understandings of what Haiku is all about. As well as what it does for a person intellectually and emotionally. Olga: Haiku and Mind(ful) | Stuff and what if. I wanted to share the image used for this one. It was a team effort. A spin taken on a suggestion from her daughter. The end result is simplistic, Haiku, and very beautiful to observe. In other words it’s a Haiku in it’s own form.

Swatiu: Entertaining Thoughts | imgrowing. Okay, I have to admit I don’t quite get this one. That first line? Well I do have one thought as to why that first line. But I am certain every visitor will saw “awwww” as soon as they click over. She may have figured out one of my soft spots.

Steven S. Walsky (Author): A Barista’s Conundrm | Simplicity Lane. I am wondering if we’re getting a glimpse inside the life of Steven. Marje: Haiku’s on My Mind/Haiku Mind Games/No Impossibles/Reach Your Starry Dreams | Kyrosmagica. Yes, that’s four Haiku from our blog breaking friend. On a break but she decided to combine several challenges into one, two of them being mine and the other being Colleens’. Of Course Colleen is on a moving break. R. Todd: In the Mind… | A Flash of Fiction. Well, I have to say, he’s got a point. And I also want to say I like the formatting of the post layout of the text. Mainly how he notes the challenge name. Different and almost out of the line of sight. Yes, I want the challenge to be promoted so as many people are visited as possible, but I also have this thing about having it promoted. I’m a bit Haiku Minded on the issue.

Dr. Kottaway: Clear Mind | KO Rural Mad As Hell Blog. I am enjoying seeing how Haiku is thought of by each person. Each person has the same general idea and result in regards to what it does. Awesome.

J Lapis:   Caution: Haiku Mind At Work | DarkLight Harbor. The Haiku mind does make one scale down thoughts and emotions to the bare bone.

Ruby Manchanda: A haiku takes shape | Whispering Thoughts. Um, yeah, the title sort of explains it. Made it kind of easy on me. Another of our Blogger blog friends.

Jane Dougherty (Author): Gems Inspired | Jane Dougherty Writes. Do you ever visit some of the Haiku and wonder how people are able to put these words together and even think in words such as they use? I feel so common at times. Daniel Schwamm: Lively Words | Musing Life’s Mysteries. I enjoyed this one a lot. I think he makes an excellent point. There is something about poetry in so few words.

Juliette: Keep Looking | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. I think she’s right. Our Haiku does tell us something. Especially if they come easily. @BWseeingBL

Melissa: A Short and Sharp Haiku | The Aran Artisan. Sometimes it does work this way. Once you begin doing Haiku and do it with a nature them, as we should but sometimes have fun in other ways, you begin to see Haiku everywhere.

Ronovan Haiku Prompt Challenge , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I get the feeling the prompts were either difficult or were perhaps confining this week. One of the greatest things about Haiku is the recalling of memories when pulling forth inspiration for writing. That’s one reason I like the stories I read going along with Haiku or photos the poets have taken and used for the challenges. It’s a nice way to get to know a bit more about each other.

Judy: Wedding Canceled | Edwina’s Episodes. I was going to call this Typical Judy after a comments exchange she and I had but that didn’t sound right. Nothing is typical about Judy and I felt the title would give the wrong impression of what I intended. She’s a real dear. @EdwinasEpisodes

Alice: Expecto Patronum | Boomerang Zone. I did not even think of this, at least I don’t think I did. But I should have. 🙂 And is that her shirt she has a photo of? Oh my. @Vidocq_CC

Kat: Forever Listening | like mercury colliding. This one is so wrong. 🙂 Bad Kat, Bad.

Mira: stag party | They, You and Me. I THINK she got my meaning of stag, but not sure. Oh these migraines on cloudy days. love games | To Wear a Rainbow. I will call this one Nature Calls and that should give you the final clue as to what it’s about. 🙂  @BediMona

Elizabeth: Party Time…Oh bother. | Tea & Paper. I love how people have things on hand to use for these challenges. It’s nice how they prompt not only Haiku but memories as well. You might have read that line at the beginning of the review as I like it and intend to use it if I remember by the end of the review. @teandpaper

Maylian: A Call. | Personal Self Perfection. A very nice Haiku with great meaning. Makes me think of revolution.

Steven: Haiga and Rutting | Ramblings of Drabbling Mind. Off to search engine I went for this one for several reasons. But we not only received a Haiku about one of the theme we’ve seen so far but also one about the mating call of s seldom scene nature inhabitant.

Meredith & Martha: Mating/Shindig by Meredith and Lonely/Cad by Martha | Meredith’s Musings. And those are four Haiku, two each from the Angels. I just love how the two of each work together for titles. Awesome. You know, sometimes I get the feeling they are sending message through their Haiku. Hmm. @Meredithlbl

Pat B.: Tippy Toes | A season and a time. Okay, I have an image in my head that the Haiku gave me and thus the name I chose for the Haiku. I am now dying of laughter even though the Haiku is not a humorous one. But then I need a good laugh at times. Odd things set me off that way. 🙂

denis1950: dear deer | Haiku Hound. Okay, this one is perhaps one of my favorites. The Haiku is excellent then you throw in the photography.

Elusive Trope: Going About One’s Day | Elusive Trope. Well who knew that? Learn something every day. Well for me I learn a lot more than something. But I had no idea about this.

R. Todd: Defiance | A Flash of Fiction. Wrapping my mind around the words of this one.

Ronovan Haiku Prompt Challenge , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Week 61 was for the words Wine & Tears. I came up with the prompt words from a spur of the moment thought I had in a melancholy mood and I shared it on Twitter. I liked the way the words turned out after reading them the next day and they became the starting point for the example or opening Haiku of the Challenge. Laughter can do miracles. It’s my go-to for any situation and usually works to get people I know into a better frame of mind and realize all is not lost or hopeless or as bad as they think.

The Closing Haiku

With a wine red nose,

The clown made the people laugh,

While tears flowed inside.

Alice has been here before, but it has been a while and it was not quite as formally done as this, so it’s an offical welcome time here. “I am a Dutch non-practicing lawyer/human rights defender. I work on unsolved homicides, wrongful convictions, and assist other human rights defenders and attorneys when requested. This is my personal blog.” Notice she said that it’s her personal blog. Ha, a play on words AND RHYMES! “‘The Wishing Well’ (previously Bedressed, then Bubblicious) has come a long way during August’s Blogging101 course and I’ve enjoyed the journey. There’s still a long way to go, but now we’re travelling in a well-equipped jeep rather than a saddle-packed donkey. As with any vehicle, there’s re-fuelling needs, maintenance checks / tasks and undergoing some hopeful improvements and further learning progression.” And that’s just the beginning of her About page?

Faith Unlocked: Come Taste the New Wine | Faith Unlocked. If there had been any other type of message in this Haiku I would have been surprised. I was only waiting to see how it was done. And there was no disappointment. And 32 other people agreed with me. @FaithUnlocked

TJ Paris: Early but Too Late | La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. Yeah, I know, the blog title is a mouthful, but if you think we have a hard time saying it, try it with a mouth of Early 21st Century Cake. As for the title? I came up with that from not only the Haiku but the description of the photo used. As always you know we’re going to get something creative from this entry. Entry #2 In Vino Veritas. Looks like TJ has begun Writing 101 through Blogging U. Will be interesting to see what he comes up with.  @Roccoco_a_GoGo

Judy: Bad Blood | Edwina’s Episodes. The title I gave this week is implied somewhat by the Haiku. I get a sense of initial conniving followed by realization. As I pondered a title friendship came to mind and the colors in the image used, and a take on the prompt words and that led me to Taylor Swift’s song Bad Blood. There is a story behind the song about friendship. @EdwinasEpisodes

Carol: Affair to Forget | Mama Cormier. Two Haiku that one reader noted was an affair in two Haiku. Thus I decided on the title. For me it would have been Moutain Dew cola at Taco Bell instead of the setting in the image she used. 🙂 @Carol_Cormier

Mira: let go | They, You, and Me. Nice. Romantic, sexy, sad, all rolled into one. Entry #2 love story… | To Wear a Rainbow. This one is actually two. @BediMona

Olga: Do Not Enter | Stuff and what if… The title is more of a take not so much on our not allowed in but what else is not able to.

Jane Dougherty (Author): Wine Glasses, Tossed and What Not | Jane Dougherty Writes. Three Haiku. I had a good theme going for a title but one of these was not like the other. But I tossed the title together anyway. Check out Jane’s books on Amazon at the Author link above. @MJDougherty33

Ritu: Dutty Wine Glass | But I Smile Anyway. Well, I learned a new song today. Now I am trying to picture Ritu in the one of the Haiku she wrote. If I tried that I would so not be able to move ever again. (still picturing…) @PhantomGiggler

Kat: Buzzin’ | Like Mercury Colliding… So with a prompt like tears and wine do you really need an explanation of my title for this Haiku?

Alka: To drown in Wine and Poetry | Magnanimous Words. That title would make a great blog title . . . and I didn’t come up with it. 🙂 All Alka. Now who in the world would think of creating an image like that is beyond me, but it worked. I didn’t know they drank. But now I do. @girally

Janice: Heart Torn | Ontheland. I think this one does a great job of playing with the words. This could be about romance broken, love lost, or a  musician’s life. @ontheland1

Jen: Twisted Vine | The Secret Keeper. Very nice. Bit of mythology with a two meaning Haiku structure. The painting shared goes well with the Haiku created, and fits the prompt words perfectly. @occultguardian

Steven: Vineyard | Ramblings of a Drabbling Mind. Quite poetic with the words this week. I know poetic in a Poetry Challenge should be a duh thing but sometimes the offerings are very poetic. I would explain it but the more I read it the more the words begin to jumble. 🙂

Clarence: Taste of Wine | Prairie Chat. Clarence has been letting his inner romantic out lately. He doesn’t disappoint this week.

Sandra: View | Wild Daffodil. Combining the two challenges she likes to do, this one and Bluedaisyz Weekly photo challenge, we get a amazing photo that goes perfectly with the Haiku. I just hope they made it back okay. Nice to see where you’ve been as long as you can still make it to where you’re going. 🙂

Denis1950: Sunset Over Wine | Haiku Hound. Okay, the two Haiku are great. But when you put your photos of those sunsets of over the bay with those boats masts silhouetted…WOW. Great combinations all around.

Al: Full Seasoned | All the Author’s Blog. Well, he says the prompts spoke to him, and I believe him. 7 Haiku, 4 Titles, 1 narrative. Yeah, they spoke to him. @AlistairLane

Amy: Recovery | Haiku of a Homeschooler. I enjoy those Haiku that have a deep personal meaning. When the author shares that meaning and allows you to enter into that world of emotion with them, it is something special. This is one of those. The title is mine, but the Haiku gave it to me. @me_the_seeker

Meredith & Martha: Wine brings forth the truth | Meredith’s Musings. As you know, if you are a regular, we have four Haiku this week from our Angels. The one title is mine to somewhat sum up the feel I get from what they shared. First there are Frivolity & Lachrymose from Meredith and then Red, Red, Wine & Obloquy from Martha. You know, when you need a dictionary to read the Haiku you know you are in over your head. 🙂 The ladies went all out this week. @Meredithlbl

R Todd: Watercolor Ponies | A Flash of Fiction. This is the day for videos inspire or Haiku inspire video selections. A very sad Haiku. I may be dropping into a depression bout now. Read on at your own risk, unless I take a break. @psibrone

Shida: Another Option | 876Lover. I think this may be what they call Jamaican Rules. Not sure why but I want to say her blog theme or layout has changed since she first joined us. I’ve seen it like this before but I like the color and all. @realrebel_r

Becky: Peace Like Wine | Becky G? Oh, That’s Me. Nice twist here. I like those peaceful inspiring Haiku, especially when doing the review. (And now while doing it and my boy “B” ‘playing’ his trumpet he just got on Friday.)

Elizabeth: the solution | Tea And Paper. Ah, nice. Makes me wonder if it would make it worse. 🙂 And I wonder that because of some of the other Haiku I’ve read, but it seems like most of them would agree with Elizabeth. @Teandpaper

Serins: Turn With the Wind | Serins Sphere. Poetic. (If you haven’t picked up on it by now, that’s a big compliment from me.) Very good use of the prompts and phrasing. Very image inducing. @SerinsSphere

Shailzaa: The Plunge | Fewunsaidwords. You know, if you think about it, after this is over with, The Plunger might end up being appropriate. 🙂 Oh I slay me sometimes. And you people thought I had lost my sense of humor this week. Hrmph.

Hello Everyone,

This week the suggested focus was to make two complete sentences out of the three lines of Haiku with the second line being the end of the first sentence and the beginning of the second sentence. It wasn’t a must, just a suggestion for those interested in moving toward or testing their ability at the traditional form of Haiku.

The closing Haiku.

The man’s bridges fell

Out of his dark lusting maw

Ron’s tongue wagged, the dog.

To be read as:
The man’s bridges fell out of his dark lusting maw.
Out of his dark lusting maw, Ron’s tongue wagged, the dog.

Ah, the hopes of the higher educated (you get that from his About page, yes I read those.). I remember those days. Oh wait…no I don’t. I have amnesia. (No seriously, I do…I think.) Bored Genius | This Is CruserBladezz. I am wondering with a handle such as Silver Bullet Head if he would be great to have along in case of werewolves? Totally ignore everything I say from this point on. I took double medications and am really far out there at the moment. No werewolves were harmed in the making of this Haiku Review.

First in this week:

Juliette: A Year in Haiku | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. One year doing our Haiku Challenge, and the only person to do every single one of them, as far as I can tell. Dedication or OCD, I’m not certain but I say thank you for that continued participation. Here the woman I finally settled on calling Juliette explains how she came to be involved in the challenge. She gives not only this weeks Haiku offering but each weeks as well, with a total of 64 Haiku. If you want to see how someone has grown or regressed in their life over a time span, Haiku can be a great way to do that. Juliette has gone from being the mystery woman of the group to a mainstay veteran who I can always count on being involved. And more often than not when I see a like in the comments next to someone’s link on the Challenge post, she’s the one who has liked it. A true full on participate. @BWseekingBL

Annette Rochelle Aben (Author & Radio Host): The Mackinac | Annette Rochelle Aben. Annette chose to stay with her Michigan theme and give us a bit more history of her home state. The picture below is the subject of her Haiku. That doesn’t mean I am giving away what she says though. Judy/Edwina: Working for it | Edwina’s Episodes. First of all, call her Judy or Edwina, both are her names, but Judy seems to be the one commonly used in her comment section by those who chat with her, although she notes that she kind of has become fond of being called Edwina. That image she used sets off everything nicely. You may need to click the image to get a good read of the Haiku. For me that makes it even better though. 

Sue Vincent (Author): Bridge | Daily Echo. Very nature oriented Haiku. Like it. Love the contrasting colors in the photo used. Sue is one of our authors with several books available. Visit the Author link above to go to her Amazon Author Page.

TJ Paris: Star Crossed Lovers | La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. A Western Australia with a French Fetish. Very nicely done with the two sentences and opposing meanings. A touch of romance. But with a blog focused on France, especially Paris, how could he not?

Mira: overwrought | They, You And Me. Feeling anguish here, longing. Two sentence structure as was suggested to focus on. I always get that sense of wanting to give Mira a big hug when I read her Haiku. fears | To Wear A Rainbow. I would swear she can read minds at times.

Melissa Barker-Simpson (Author): Brothers in Arms | M Barker-Simpson. Call her Mel. At least that’s what she signs everything as. Not only does she have a blog but an author site as well. She’s everywhere. Now to the Haiku. I had named this one The Journey until I noticed the name in the link. I liked her explaining how she arrives at her Haiku and it makes you begin to anticipate what she’s working on. Sneaky, right? A lot of feeling here. I like it. No Twitter as far as I have found. Me: I don’t normally put myself in here but seeing as I actually did one outside of the example this week, and I linked to the challenge, here I am. No Bridge Too Far | Ronovan Writes. You might think I would have been the first entry, but I thought that a bit unfair of an advantage. The Haiku can mean positive and negative things but moving toward the same end. Becky: Nature’s Bridge | Becky G? Oh, That’s Me! Can you guess what the Haiku is about from the title? When I chose it I thought it easy, but then I kept coming up with different things it could mean. I think I think Haiku to much. 🙂

Clarence: Lovers Schemes | Prairie Chat. Uh oh. Clarence is keeping with the romance here. Tapping into the Romeo side…and the people are liking it. You go Man!

R. Todd: The Bridge | A Flash of Fiction. Ah, nice one. Had not thought of this idea yet. Cool. 

Pat B.: Arches over Oregon | A season and a time. Seems a couple of people had similar ideas this week. And I must say I do love the subjects, they are fascinating pieces of art to me when done properly. This can read as one sentence or as two.

Maylian: Sensory | Personal Self Perfection. Maylian returns for a second week!!! YAY!!! Two Haiku this week from Maylian. Very much nature with some humanness thrown in. (Is it just me or does humanness “funny? Okay, and no wisecracks about how funny humans look.) Definitely go visit the blog. I love the look of it; the layout and color scheme. Very nice.

Sandra or “Daffy” as one reader called her. Whichever, the WILD ONE IS BACK! Peace | Wild Daffodil the joy of creativity. This is a MUST SEE post. So  much included in this one and for very good reasons. Definitely stop by and like it.

JK: Move Silently | The Secret Keeper. Whoa. Seriously serious thoughts there. And an appropriate image for said or suggested serious thought.  

Olga: Wait | Stuff and what if… Like the message and the image is kind of spooky in a way but also leaves a mystery to it. Nice.

Janice: Bridge | Ontheland. Two meanings for the Haiku, as Janice explains in her post. And it is a post of encouragement and inspiration. Well here we are again, well so I am anyway. This is actually much later in the order of entries and the second for Janice. Bridge of Change. This just goes to show how the Haiku challenge sticks with you no matter what you try to do. 🙂  

Denis: Survivor | Haiku Hound. Carrying on a theme, yes, I know the Haiku has a prompt and thus a theme or sorts…but hang with me here for a moment. Denis gives us a lesson about a little place just outside of Hobart Tasmania Australia. Like I’ve said before, love these types of pieces. The Haiku says a lot about the subject.

The Elusive One: Bolero | Elusive Trope. Yes, the Elusive one’s name is in the blog, but I’ll stick with Elusive for now. All I can say is I believe there was some freaking out at the prompt words, and I swear I had no idea.

Elizabeth: Madness | Tea&Paper. Ah yes, this one actually struck a chord with me when I read it earlier in the week. I’ve had to think about this often.

Meredith & Martha: Four From the Angels | Meredith’s Musings. No, that’s not really a title, but they do two apiece each week. The Bridge & Beloved Pet by Martha, and then Family Feud & Progress from Meredith. Great images. I really love them AND Beach Babes with Nick!!! Also, these ladies are facebook friends of mine and I will tell you Meredith is looking great. Visit her twitter and see either a very strange looking Beach Babe baked potato or seaweed loved coconut, I’m not sure which. @MeredithLBL

vronlacroix: Fragile | Simply Snapshots. She’s back for a second week in a row! Love it when new people come back for more AND when I see the comments on their Haiku. Awesome! Fragile is a deep one. I mean philosophically deep. Some said powerful.

Stu06Bloc9: Paired | Pitter Patter Poetry. Whoa. So there are two Haiku. Take your time and read them through. I’m still rereading as…well not AS I type this, but you know what I mean.

Marjorie Mallon (Why did I put the whole name this week? Cause it just sounds cool saying! Well…at least how I say it.): A Sweet Bridge Too Far & We’re Finished Lover |Kyrosmagica. She’s back in her groove people! I tell you this was an entertaining read from beginning to end. And if you are into Scotland and all, go check out her Edinburgh posts while she visited the Book Festival. AMAZING photos!!!  

Prakash: Move on Big River | Its PH. Yes, that’s my name for the Haiku, and if you have been reading all of this review this is just after I did the NEW! entry of Gerard, so you know I am a bit insane at the moment. But this one is both deep and funny at the same time depending on how you take it. I’m of two minds about it. Muahahahaha. Stop that Ron! What? Huh? (I just had a conversation with myself. O,o)  

Jane Dougherty (Author): Three from Lady Jane | Jane Dougherty Writes. I couldn’t really come up with one suitable name that encompassed the three, but then it struck me what better name than the name above? You all know that Jane writes beautiful poetry, and won’t enter until it’s just right. She took her time this week, for certain, and I love the painting. Always a class act. A great part of our Haiku family. And I’m not saying that because I reviewed one of her books, or because I interviewed her on my book review/interview site. Alka: Games of Chance | Magnanimous Words. She just blew my mind!!! I was not expecting this at all. The idea of using the prompts this way absolutely did not come to mind. Now that I have hyped it up so much, please go and peruse for your own enjoyment and laugh at my excitement.  

Colleen: A Hushed Moment | Silver Threading. You know, I’ve seen her blog so many times and I know the meaning but with her being part of my team on LWI, it occurred to me it could mean Silverth Reading. 🙂 Now the Haiku was amazing. Romance! @SilverThreading

Vashti Quiroz-Vega (Author): Star Trek | The Writer Next Door. Okay, another one that took me by surprise, but I have no idea why considering it’s from Vashti. Nothing should surprise me from her. Florence: My Lullaby | Meanings and Musings. Peaceful, serene, and just right. Steven S. Walsky (Author): Life is a Road | Simplicity Lane. A Tanka, meaning three normal lines of Haiku plus two additional lines of 7 syllables each using the third line as the link. A very thoughtful Tanka. I always expect humor when I vent Steven and have ended up with thought provoking of late. I may have actually understood it bfore but don’t remember. 🙂 Gotta use my out when I can. Anyway. I named the Haiku Comfort Zone from my take on the meaning of the message written. A very thinky piece, as I like to call them. It makes you sit and ponder a few moments or dozen before the pain begins between the eyes at how you can’t write like that yourself. O,o

Khor Hui Min: Utopia | Project Prose. A very topical message pulled from today’s headlines all over the world. @MinKhor

Greg: The Bridge | Potholes in the Road of Life. Got the message, both of them. The first was the Greg must have goofed his link back to the Challenge I missed it, and the second is the message of the Haiku. But then I goofed by not catching a mainstay of the Challenge not being present.

5 New Things About RonovanWrites Blog and Why. #Blog #Tips

It’s time to take a look around the blog. I know those of you who regularly visit have noticed the changes, but here is the official unveiling, and shame to those who peeked.

First, why the change?

Everyone needs a fresh start at some point and it was about time. I could get into some marketing and even managerial reasons, and I might as we go, but for now, let’s leave it as I just needed a change. Maybe as I talk about each change I’ll mention the why.

The Header

I have a header finally. What? Ronovan Writes didn’t have a header before? Nope, it was all in the header image. Now I have the image from my Haiku Challenge that I like so much gracing the abode on a grander scale. Well…at least until I get to learning how to be artistic with my new laptop!!! Why did I change? I decided it was time to be less me centric in the look and I wanted a brighter feel to things. My purpose for this blog isn’t such that it requires anything specific. I’m going to have fun.

No sidebars here.

But all the old information is still here to find, just scroll to the bottom and it’s all in the footers now. Did you really think I would do away with talking about myself and advertising ME completely? Shame on you. No sidebars gives a larger feel to the reading area, cleaner appearance, and simply has that inviting look as far as I am concerned. But then again, to each their own.

Blog Tip

One thing to think about if you change locations of your Widgets and that is the  width of any of your Widgets that have images related to them. If they are too wide then they throw everything off. If you don’t see your Widgets when you change, check that width and reduces to a small size for the moment. Then check your main page again.

Only 5 Posts on Main Page

With the Footers added I decided to limit the number of posts appearing on the landing page to 5. This allows for quicker loading time for the blog and isn’t too much to look at. Also, a reader can get to the Footers a bit faster.

I’ll be doing some other changes slowly to move to as professional and peaceful appearance as I can. That’s what I am going for. I want peace. With a dash of explosions and excitement at the same time. Kind of like Marilyn Monroe in Some Like it Hot. Hey, I saw what I saw in that movie, you see what you want to see. Agreed? Good.

Finding Time to Blog. Huh?

I’ve been asked in the past about how to find time to blog. Do you have time to ask me that question? If the answer is yes, you have the time to blog. Do you have time to read a blog? If the answer is yes, you have time to write a blog. I don’t think people are really asking me about time. Then what are they asking me about?

“How do I come up with ideas?

“What do people will like to read?”

“Ronovan, WHAT DO I WRITE ABOUT?!”

I have no idea what you should write about. Why? Because I’m not you. But I suppose like any other blogging non-expert I can tell you what I have done.

The truth is when you first begin to blog you might end up writing about a lot of different things until you find what you are most comfortable with. I was heavy into some dark poetry. It was basically a time I was dealing with my amnesia and before being diagnosed and treated for various health issues. But a great many people identified with it. I have no idea why nor did I attempt to keep writing it in order to keep a certain audience.

I can’t write poetry quite like that now because I am in a much better place. I obviously didn’t give up blogging or writing poetry. Now I write whatever comes to me, regardless of subject or audience. It’s my blog. Thus I blog what I blog.

The first thing you need to decide, once you get down to actually wanting to write a blog post is to decide your purpose for blogging.

Your purpose.

Is your brain hurting yet? Don’t worry, it isn’t that bad. It’s just that some people have blogs for professional or semi-professional reasons. My blog has many purposes.

Some people want to share a hobby, some a cultural or family history. Well things based on that culture.

Many like to explore writing. This one is greatly accommodated here in WordPress. There are many blogs with writing prompts you use and then link back to the original prompt and receive some visitors to your blog. Of course the Daily Post also has prompts. My Haiku Challenge is a Daily Post Event.

WordPress also holds Blogging 101 and 102 to help people get started. I personally found my own way to where I am. Personal interests will lead you to your topics.

If you like a topic then most likely there are others who do as well.

After Your Purpose.

If you are blogging for professional reasons, stick to that topic. People will be visiting you for that specific reason. As for a blog of whatever, much like mine, stay honest and real…you can’t go wrong. People will pick up on fake every time.

As for time?

You can speak more words in 5 minutes than you think. Just type. Don’t write to your audience…talk to them. You don’t have to entertain, simply share. You don’t have to have long posts. They can be no more than 300 words if you like. I did that for a time. I kept my posts under 300 words. It was an exercise in writing as much as it was in not having to write long posts.

My reblog for today. Yes, I stole the tablet while son works on summer project. Did a few RTs on Twitter so I could be of some use.

Thanks to those who have donated for a new laptop so far. Florence set a goal that would get me something nice and give me freedom again. I can’t tell you how moved I have been. Well the migraine is spiking from using this thing and typing on a screen with knuckles is harder than you think. (I can’t unclench fists due to the arthritis and fibro sometimes but I keep writing anyway,or did.)

The best tip I have to get Blog Traffic.

Thought I would give the biggest and best tip I have about blogging views and traffic today. But you’ll have to wait a moment for it.

I’ve seen so many posts/articles that go on about how if you post like this or that and during these hours and the like you will get a lot more views. To some extent they are correct.

I’ve written articles about where the views come from as in do the source of the clicks to your site come from Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr or whatever.

But here is the honest deal to it all. The more friends you have that know about your site and read your site the more people you have share your articles elsewhere.

I don’t share my work in many places right now. Twitter is pretty much it, and Tumblr by default. Really those two are defaults built into my blog. But I get views from other sources. Facebook is one. I rarely share an article on facebook, yet I get a decent number of views from there, well on average they are okay, but not like stellar. But for not even using facebook for the purpose of sharing my articles, getting views from there is pretty good. Same goes for Reddit.

You see, your focus should be on writing great content and making great friends. Doing that means you end up with a great blog. Those great friends share your work with their friends. Is that why you make those great friends? No. It is a side effect of doing what you are supposed to do on your blog-Write Great Content.

What is great content? That’s all dependent upon the writer. Do I have great content? I’m not sure. I write from the heart and mind and leave it at that. I don’t make the effort to weave a tapestry of words that will enthrall people. This article, for example, is all stream of thought and won’t be edited. This is it, how I think and how I write.

The content you come up with may end up being a poem, a short story, a blog tip or a challenge of some type. But the truth is, if you are writing those just to get traffic on your blog then people will know it. Thus, it’s not great content.

When I get a lot of traffic on my blog, it’s an accident. I don’t really post at the best times or anything. I post at midnight sometimes which is an awful time to do so and I get hit by 200+ clicks for that article.

You want lots of views to your site, lots of traffic? Write and make friends. Forget all the headaches of research. Yeah, read the advice, but don’t get caught up in all of it too much. Focus on those two things I mentioned and you’ll end up just fine.

Blog Tip: Be A Free Blogger or Go Super Nova.

Caught in a trap. Can’t walk out. Cause I . . .  wait, um, let me start this again.

What is a Free Blogger?

We’ll get there, if I remember.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you can’t walk away from something because of responsibilities? I’m not talking about relationships, but you can probably take this along that same line.

When you have been blogging for a period of time something will happen. That something is called inspiration. You will develop these ideas, then–there you are—commitment.

You get these ideas that would make great blogs, great community building ventures. You see a support blog that NEEDS to be created.

These things are all well and good, whatever that means, but count to a million aloud and then see if it still sounds good. If it does, hold your breath to the count of a million.

The great authors and creators of the world do something I find interesting. When an idea comes to them, they don’t write it down. If in six months the idea is still with them, they go with it, if not then it wasn’t that great of an idea.

If you spread yourself too thin you become just that—thin. Your blog content becomes weak and your ability to connect with people suffers. I’ve been fortunate that in my one main inspired venture, Lit World Interviews (LWI) has a team taking up my slack. You see, I love authors. I mean LOVE them. I am one, and I know the agony of feeling you are alone and searching for help. Thus LWI was created and now a sister blog Authors Supporting Authors (ASA).

LWI runs because of that team, not because of me. I don’t even need to exist for it to be there. And it is a way for the Team members to have another outlet and help people once a week. ASA runs when people tell me they have a need. I just realized that as I wrote it. I had felt badly about how slowly ASA is moving. It has a good number of followers for such a young blog, but the activity is not that great. And now I am fine with it.

But the problem comes when you commit to an endeavor that takes you away from the love of what brought you to blogging. One thing to always ask yourself—if you don’t love blogging, then why are you still here? That means if you are doing all these different things and are feeling pressures you are now doing a job, and part of blogging is to get away from pressures. I know some do blogging as a job or to build a platform but that is a bit different.

One thing about LWI is that it’s a volunteer thing. The members write when they like to write. Two of them have somewhat of a schedule they keep. I’ve given them days that are theirs. That means only they can post on those days unless I have something that needs to go out. But no other team member can post on those days. But if they don’t post, they don’t post. If they don’t post, I worry, but I’m not concerned about there being no post, just the fact they always do and I am worried something is wrong.

Having so many blogs going on, and guest posts to do will cause a major problem. That problem is you find you don’t have the mental energy and at times the physical energy to do things on your personal blog that you want to do. I’m into cartooning a bit now. It takes a lot out of me physically in many ways. I feel guilty because of commitments I’ve made in other areas, and that is part of the strain on me mentally. And no, if certain people are reading this I’ve agreed to guest post for, I don’t mean those guest posts.

Be a free blogger.

That means:

  • Don’t get tied down to anything in blogging that will take away from the release blogging gives you.
  • If you want to do something like LWI or ASA, become part of something that exists already.
  • Groups are a great thing. The more you have the less each person has to do.
  • The less each of you have to do the more you can do on your own blog and still have that sense of helping in something else.

You are thinking that you like to control things or you want it done your way.

  • Start in a group.
  • Learn.
  • Discover if you do want to do this for the long haul.
  • If so, then do one of your own.

Excitement is great in blogging, but you want to keep that excitement. One sure way to lose it is to use it up like a super nova.

#BeWoW Blogshare for Wednesday Mar. 25. Are you Ready to be Positive?

#BeWoW blogshare is Wednesday!

You want a THEME or IDEA for a post? Tell a story about a person that has Inspired you. Reality, TV, Literature, or whatever, tell us about them and not just how they Inspired you, but an almost tribute to them. Even pick a song that you would identify with them if you like.

#BeWoW stands for Be Wonderful on Wednesday. #BeWow is one word. But really you don’t have to wait for Wednesdays. The idea is to post something about Wonderful on Wednesdays, though. There is also the #BeWATT which is for Be Wonderfull All The Time. You can use that any time and I will RT it when I see it and maybe others will as well. I’ll put out another post about #BeWATT soon, but this post is for #BeWoW.

It could be:

  • a  wonderful experience you had last week
  • a wonderful memory that came to you
  • something inspirational or motivational
  • maybe something encouraging
  • just something that brings a feeling of wonderful to you that you want to shareronovan writes

This is an EVERY WEEK THING so by reading this once all the way through, you’ve got it and only need to refer to it each week if you need to. But read it through at least once. If something changes. I’ll put out a special post about it.

THE SIMPLE WAY

Write  a post and share it on Twitter with the #BeWoW and I and others will RT it. If you want to make sure I RT it also include @RonovanWrites when you share it.

Each Wednesday a post will show up here on RonovanWrites about something Wonderful for me or maybe a #BeWoW Guest Blogger will show up. Post a link to your Wonderful post in the comments to share with everyone. That’s one way it works. Simple as that. Then there is the Twitter way.

Write a post and Tweet it with the hashtag of #BeWoW and to be 100% positive it does get ReTweeted by me you CAN add @RonovanWrites to your Tweet and I’ll RT it. Okay, I’ll RT it when I wake up. 🙂 And other bloggers will be RTing as well when they see it.

Make sure it’s a post that is positive, encouraging, uplifting. I think you get the message here. This is not for just a post you want to share. It MUST have the #BeWoW message of Positivity.

So what do you do?

Why is there a copyright in the picture? My son “B” and I took the picture. He blew the Bubbles while I was on the ground looking up at the sky. He loved popping them and splashing me with the water. Hey, I thought it was a good idea at the time. At least he laughed. And that’s why I chose it as the Wonderful image.

How to Combine/Merge Blogs/Move Articles from Blog to Blog or Backup Blog Files.

Have you ever had more than one blog and then decided you just wanted one? Or have you ever maybe been part of one site and wanted to move something you wrote over to your own personal site? Wish you could combine those blogs into one or move that article over? Maybe you simply want to backup your blog content?

Just to let you know, if any links appear in this article and you click them, they will appear in this window, not a new tab or new window. You will need to click the back arrow to return to this page.

How to Combine or Merge Blogs or move your Articles from one Blog to another.

It’s easier than you think. It looks like a lot of information, but I’m just detailed in my information providing. It is really is easy.

Remember what you move is still on the old blog. You would need to actually delete it from the other site if you wanted to.

First we’re going to Export whatever it is you want to Export.

Step One.

  • Go to the Dashboard of the Blog you are doing away.
  • Go to Tools.
  • Select Export.

In WordPress.com you will see two options you can select.

  • Export-This will create an xml file and it’s Free to do.
  • Guided Transfer-This is for where someone working for WordPress will transfer your Blog content for you to a WordPress.org site for a price.

I of course will be explain the Free way.

Step Two.

  • Click Export.
  • At this point you get to choose what you want to Export.
    • All content.
    • Posts
    • Pages
    • Feedback
  • Choosing All content is self explanatory.
  • Posts you have the following options.
    • Categories-You are able to choose a category to Export. A good idea if you have a lot and want to try it out at first.
    • Authors-That’s right. Choose just one Author to Export their work.
    • Date Range-It’s a Month and Year to Month and Year range.
    • Status-This things such as Published, Scheduled, Drafts, Pending.
  • Pages you will have the following options.
    • Authors-Export just those pages by author
    • Date Range-Again by Month and Year.
    • Status-Just like with Posts. Posts

Step Three.

  • You’ve selected what you want to do.
  • Click Download Export File.
  • A pop up box will open.
  • Make sure the Save File is selected and then click OK.

The File will go to your Download folder on your computer.

Now to Import the File to the other Blog.

 Step One.

  • Go to the Dashboard of the Blog you are doing away.
  • Go to Tools.
  • Select Import-Man, are you going to be surprised at the possibilities.
    • You can actually Import from Blogger, Tumblr, and others. (See details for Blogger at the bottom of this page.)
    • But we’re going to select WordPress.

Step Two.

  • Click WordPress.
  • You will be prompted to Browse for the file that was Exported.
  • Find it and select it.
  • Click Upload file and import.
  • Then you will be prompted to select the Author for the Imported items. If that person doesn’t exist, then assign to another Author.
  • Then click Submit.
  • You will then receive a message on the screen that says you will receive an email with the Import is successful. The Email takes a while at times. I tested it and the Import I did was in the new Blog several minutes before the Email came.
  • When the system and WordPress are done the email will say Import Successful in the Subject. And it will be from WordPress.com. I know that last part sounds like a big of course moment but that’s the detail I give and you would be surprised at how many people might ask if I didn’t tell.

You will want to make sure things are as you like them with your tags and things like that. The content will still be in the other Blog but you can do with it what you like at this point.

You can also download Blogger files and then load them to WordPress but you will need to do some changing once the files are loaded. But you still have everything you need. What do you have to do?

  • Go to your Dashboard on your Blogger.com site or the Design page if you like to use the name you click on to get there.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on Other.
  • Then near the top middle of the page you will see three options in blue text. Import Blog, Export Blog, Delete Blog.
  • Click Export Blog.
  • Click Download Blog when the window pops up.
  • Then select Save File ad OK.
  • To Import to WordPress, you do just like Importing from a WordPress Blog.

Are you a Blog Hijacker?

The original version of this article I was working was huge. I’m going to try to make it simple.

What is a Blog Hijacker?

A person that comments on a post and does at least one of the following on several posts:

  • Writes a comment that is so long it should be a post of its own and is mostly about the bloggers own blog and writing. Meaning you CAN TELL it is an obvious self promotion comment.
  • Comments some nonsense and leaves links to their own blog when it’s obvious they haven’t even read the post.
  • They reply to other commenters with what they think you meant by your post.

You are probably able to come up with some additional Blog Hijacker behavior. If you do, leave them in the comments. I mean that.

What if YOU are a Blog Hijacker?

If you are doing these things be careful, they WILL eventually have a negative impact on your own blog.

  • People will begin to notice and stop visiting your blog.
  • Not only the people you are doing it to, but their friends that are seeing your comments.
  • You will one day wonder why you haven’t seen ‘likes’ from someone in a while.

Most comments should be:

  • To the point, unless the blogger has asked for comments that are of an engaging nature or you are sincerely commenting with honest feeling.
  • Supportive and/or complimentary or at least leaving an intelligently and courteously phrased comment about why you don’t agree with a post.

I personally don’t do the last one unless the blogger has asked for feedback of that nature. If I don’t like it I am going to move on and not be negative in another persons creative realm. However, I rarely find a post that is a waste of my time. I learn from most blogs. I learn what is bad and what is good. Both are instructional.

Do not mistake Blog Hijacking for being supportive.

  • Look at what you are writing and see where the focus is.
  • Is the focus on the post and the content and how it affects you, the blogger, or yourself?
  • If the answer is mostly that last one, you’re Blog Hijacking.

How do you know if you are a Blog Hijacker if no one tells you AND you are doing these things?

  • Are you receiving comments from the blogger when there should be a reply from them?
  • Do your comments not receive ‘likes’ by the host when all others do?

Now for me, I use ‘likes’ to talk to people who comment. Unless there really is a reason to reply, I click like.It lets them know I read it and appreciated it.

Added for clarification:

Sometimes a post asks for comments that may be about self. That is the nature of some blogs entirely. Commenting about how the post relates to you and may touch you is great.

What this post is about are those random comments with links and off the wall unrelated comments or those people who as you read the comment you can tell are self promoting. We, as bloggers, love comments. It lets us know we are getting something right.

So those of you out there who write comments with honest feelings, you are good to go with commenting. Those of you who read your comment and realize, hey, this really is all about my own blog and does look like I’m trying to get people to go read my blog, well, maybe see if there is another way to do some phrasing.

As a result of putting out this post I want to let people know I’ve lost some friends who didn’t get it. They either misunderstood OR perhaps felt they were Blog Hijackers. I’m going to continue to be honest in my tips and helps. It is impossible for me not to be. Since I suffered a concussion I tell it like it is. And I rarely say anything maliciously. I’m not sure I have.

#BeWoW Blogshare Wednesday. Get those Positive posts ready.

#BeWoW blogshare is Wednesday!

BeWoW stands for Be Wonderful on Wednesday. #BeWow is one word. But really you don’t have to wait for Wednesdays. The idea is to post something about Wonderful on Wednesdays, though.

It could be:

  • a  wonderful experience you had last week
  • a wonderful memory that came to you
  • something inspirational or motivational
  • maybe something encouraging
  • just something that brings a feeling of wonderful to you that you want to shareronovan writes

Each Wednesday a post will show up here on RonovanWrites about something Wonderful for me or maybe a #BeWoW Guest Blogger will show up. Post a link to your Wonderful post in the comments to share with everyone. That’s one way it works. Simple as that. The there is the Twitter way.

Write a post and Tweet it with the hashtag of #BeWoW and to be 100% positive it does get ReTweeted by me you CAN add @RonovanWrites to your Tweet and I’ll RT it. Okay, I’ll RT it when I wake up. 🙂 And other bloggers will be RTing as well when they see it.

Make sure it’s a post that is positive, encouraging, uplifting. I think you get the message here. This is not for just a post you want to share. It MUST have the #BeWoW message of Positivity.

So what do you do?

  1. Create a post or choose one you have that meets the encouraging/positive/wonderful definition.
  2. Share that link from your blog  in MY Wednesday #BeWoW post I put out after midnight Wednesday EST. That way others that drop by here can go check you out if they like. It’s not a requirement, just a way for others to see your post.
  3. When you share your post on Twitter use the hashtag #BeWoW, all one word, which I have registered and am the administrator of, on Wednesdays. We can all ReTweet what we see and like.
  4. You can include my twitter handle of @RonovanWrites in your Tweet and I will RT everything I see that is positive. Please don’t use this for anything but positive things.
  5. Probably Tweeting is the big part of this for some of you. You don’t HAVE to come to my post and comment, but if you would like to and get some people that don’t do Twitter, then go for it.
  6. If you don’t have Twitter, the original idea for this was for sharing amongst Blog World so drop in here and share.
  7. You can also go to our facebook page Be Wonderful on Wednesday where you can put a link to a post. A link to on that page will be Tweeted through my Twitter Handle @RonovanWrites. One thing to remember is when you post a link on the page if you include a hashtag, that hasthtag will carry over to Twitter. This is a great way to have your friends see posts that don’t have Twitter or don’t really visit blogs. Invite them to like the page.

Why is there a copyright in the picture? My son “B” and I took the picture. He blew the Bubbles while I was on the ground looking up at the sky. He loved popping them and splashing me with the water. Hey, I thought it was a good idea at the time. At least he laughed. And that’s why I chose it as the Wonderful image.

#BeWoW began as a simple Positivity post on a Wednesday. I wanted to do something that kept me focused on being just that, Positive. Things were suggested and here we are. A registered Hashtag, an official Twitter Handle   There is actually a blog for it, but only as a way of holding the name for when this becomes huge.  There is a facebook page, Be Wonderful on Wednesday where you can put a link to a post. A link to on that page will be Tweeted through my Twitter Handle @RonovanWrites. One thing to remember is when you post a link on the page if you include a hashtag, that hasthtag will carry over to Twitter. Invite your friends to like the page and they can see the links to the posts without Twitter.

Sincerity & Integrity in Blogging & Life

This is a rather unusual Thought this week. It rambled in my mind over so many areas that I decided to see how it rambled out in words. This will be about Blogging and about Life. For me the two are mostly the same. What dictates what appears on my blog is also what dictates my life.

The Reason

I don’t know about you, but I receive emails asking for tips on how to build a successful blog. They then go on to define successful by how to increase Followers, Likes, people to Comment on their blogs. Well they normally do it through the comment form on my About page but it shows up in my email.

Success is a term that is defined differently by each person. For some reason people think I  have successful blog. I am not exactly sure why. I don’t know really what measures you would look at for that. And in all honesty, I don’t concern myself with it unless I am doing tips. It’s not something I think about every day. People don’t know my numbers so I suppose they have an impression of what they must be. If you have been following me long enough you will have noticed I don’t do Follower milestones any longer. It’s just not a thing. Perhaps I should do Comment milestones but I don’t think WordPress has those.

The Secret

Anyway, here is something people might find surprising that I have done. I don’t look at my stats any longer. Well, I did once this past Thursday because of a recent hashtag movement I started and wanted to see what happened, but that was more out of curiosity than hope or gauging success because the hashtag part is secondary to what I am doing on Wednesday.

How do I know if I am doing okay with my blog in regards to reader visits? I look at ‘Likes‘ and ‘Comments‘ IF I have a desire to know. And I notice in the notifications if I have people ‘Following‘.

What does this have to do with a Sunday Thought?

“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.”~Titus2:7-8

How I write and what I write about I do with honesty, sincerity. I don’t do that intentionally most of the time. I write what I think and see what happens. If I have an opinion I write I will go and check some facts before I move on with it.

Sincerity

I can read a post by someone and tell if it’s sincere or not. Or I suppose I should say I can get a feel of sincerity or not.

How? Well there is something you have to consider, does the post match the personality that’s been displayed? There are some great posts out there but when I read them I can’t quite fall in to the grasp of them because it doesn’t fit with the regular content or the actions, or the comments of the person. There is just something missing.

Integrity

Another part mentioned above is integrity. There are just so many ways you can say something about blogging. It’s difficult to be original, however I don’t steal ideas. I experience the things I put out there and then write about them. In fact I intentionally don’t read the experts blog tips because I want to discover things on my own.

And if you really want to know the truth, those experts aren’t so expert at times. I like to give tips the real bloggers can do, not those with nothing but blogging to do in their lives.

I write novels, so I can’t blog all the time. It seems like I am around a lot but I’m not here as much as people think. Also with my health issues I am actually unconscious for more hours than I care to comment on.

Many people can read tips from me and know who wrote them when they are on another person’s blog. Imitation is not the highest form of flattery when it comes to things like that. At least not so much to me.

The Work

Sure, people notice I can write an article in 10 minutes and put out 20 of them in a day with no problem so they don’t think I work at it, the thoughts behind it.

I think all the time. It has taken time to develop my style and voice in my writing and although I don’t say anything to people that copy me, I still am not a big fan of the blatant copying. You know, if you do something, if you copy an idea, if you even copy phrasing, why not put a footnote in the post giving credit? I’ve done that. (Yeah, remember I was a History teacher that graded reports and gave a zero to a kid for taking a book and writing word for word. And yes, it was 40% of his grade.)

I wrote a poem once that was inspired by two other posts I had read. I gave the two bloggers credit and linked back to their blogs right at the beginning.

The Why

Why do people click Like or Comment on my things and perhaps not the copycat’s? Everyone that visits my blog knows that I put every ounce of heart into every sentence. Even if it might make me look bad or it means the reader doesn’t agree with me, they are fine with it because they KNOW I am for real. That’s the only reason I can think of.

Sincerity and Integrity goes a long way in your life. If you follow those two things it’s difficult to be spoken against. We all mess up, but we all should try to get back to the S&I in our lives.

I’ve messed up over time but I’m good now. I stick to what I am and don’t stray from it, even when people are angry at me for being the who I am now.

The day began like any other day until I pressed the switch on the computer. Then the shower began. First Gogglebirthday12-thp opened up with an array of cakes to spell their appellation, and as I passed the mouse over it, a personal greeting. I felt so special.
