Hope y’all don’t mind the Closing Haiku. It’s been a while since I’ve done one. I’ve tried to stay out of the influencing of moods in the challenges lately. And honestly there does seem to be a bit more variety now that I no longer do an Opening Haiku.

TJ Paris: Cry Out To Me |La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. Last week TJ brought as three and he does so again. I didn’t put out a Haiku of my own until Wednesday as part of my #BeWoW link share. I waited because I thought TJ had figured out the Haiku I shared just after midnight my time on Mondays was a Haiku for the challenge and thus had the challenge words in it. But what does he do this time? Three again and just as fast. Man, the dude just has the flow. @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): Sunshine | Annette Rochelle Aben. I figure this was either about sunshine or she was talking about herself. Judy: Suit to a T (Shirt) | Edwina’s Episodes. She may not be the one cast as a Frank N. Furter and no she will not be sullying the memory of a classic but this lady makes any color look good. Haiku must Fall in to her lap with as quickly as she writes them. @EdwinasEpisodes
jazzytower: Who’s Carol? | Thoughts and Entanglements. Public Relations says I should cuddle up with this Haiku. Not sure if some would approve of that, but depending on who Carol is, I might be game. @jazzytower
Kat: Three Cheers to Kat! | like mercury colliding. Man Kat can do. All the way from Nepal this former leader of OMRLP now spends her days enjoying words and the world around her. Her commentary of the season of the US national pastime is quite poignant considering the fate of various teams of late.
Liz: That Cheery Call | Quilted Poetry. All the way from the age defying weather of the cryogenic frozen lands of the north, comes a lady of esteem, no not the family of German actors from the early 20th Century, but a brilliant wordsmith in her own right. Her self titled Haiku could have a sub heading of Contrary Calling as well. @QuiltedPoetry
Jane Dougherty (Author): Sing, Sing a Song | Jane Dougherty Writes. The three degrees of Jane this week were not written about a popular Australian Trio of singing brothers, although one of their members is named and does sing. I dare say this one hit wonder of a singer has perhaps the longest charted song on record, and does not appear in a prison of the same name as the title may infer. Greg: Shouts of Joy | Potholes in the Road of Life. Sorry ladies, and perhaps some men, Greg isn’t part of Wolford Fashion so you’ll have to look for those bodysuits elsewhere. The young man brings us a message today, a message of opposing feelings, as he should have, and one that could apply to the Writer’s Quote Wednesday by Colleen. His participation, as explained in the beginning of the post shows what the community that has grown here has truly become. Two words + three lines = many friends. @greg_wolford
Janice: On a Crescent Moon | Ontheland She may be a HÓU but that just means she’s popular. Don’t know what that means? Ah, then you haven’s snooped like the master snooper has. She’s a Monkey of Fire and all signs point to her being quite a success wherever she may find herself. Her softer side is shown in a very lovely moment shared here. I greatly enjoyed reading about what led to the Haiku being written and the fact the words were on her mind at any given point during this time speaks to me a great deal. She publishes several times a week, making her a widely published author read in more countries than many of the supposed top authors of our time. A toast to our friend for her two Haiku that gives us a gander in to a life that lights up and puffs us up with (pride?). @occultguardian
Tessa: The Last Call | Writing is my life. No, not the Canadian hockey player, nor the subject of the Norwegian novel of the same name, well maybe not, I haven’t asked. She is a a writer of fiction though, and has her work on her site in chapter form for your enjoyment and convenience. Her Haiku can be happy or sad, all depending on which subject you focus upon and which formed sentence you are looking at. @TeresaSmeigh
Daniel Schwamm: Call on ME | Musing Life’s Mysteries. I don’t believe he Daniel is a mushroom farmer, no matter what some of you may believe to have deduced. Although that would be a tasty venture. And no, not a Kiwi farmer either, (Neither the bird nor fruit.) and I think that rather droll of all of you for assuming that a New Zealander would automatically be such. Ahhh, when I first saw the title of his Haiku it brought to mind the song Lean on Me, and although that is not the title, the message is much the same. Al: Cheers of the Disturbed One | Al the Author’s Blog. A well preserved sort for an early to mid 20th Century Actor, Writer, Director, and Producer in Hollywood, Al Lane now spends day as a Civil Servant while spending most of his day writing for our enjoyment. Yes, you read that correctly. Some of you will actually get it, and some will hurt me physically for implying you wouldn’t. For some unknown reason the young man decided to write FIVE Haiku on his birthday. Mostly about alcohol even when disguised as something else. 110 Cheers for AL!!! @AlistairLane
Elusive: Law of 22 Prairial | Elusive Trope. Hiding out in the wilds of PA after finding success in leasing out parts of the city with his name across the welcome signs for entertainment purposes, the Elusive one now pleases his visitors with writings and continues to grace our community each week with a Haiku offering. The Haiku is a great terror of an attempt this week. A true life or death of a read. And on his birthday as well.
R. Todd: Mockingjay | A Flash of Fiction. I didn’t want to out our friend, but Lord Todd has been found alive and his passing in 1997 at the age of 89 was an attempt to escape to the glare of public life and slink into the obscurity of the blog life. But he has been found out. My powers of deduction are beyond compare. I have not the slightest what that title for the Haiku nor the Haiku itself means. Do you? It must be some obscure reference to something he’s seen in his past life. @psibrone
D.B. Mauldin (Author): Early Bird & Nature | mama bear musings. Not sure if it’s too hot, too cold or just right where she is but her Haiku seems to make me think just right. Melissa Barker-Simpson (Author): Trick or Treat | M Barker-Simpson. Never knew a game show host and jailed football player had an offspring somehow but here we have the proof. Just remember to have your pets spayed or neutered or you may find some gloves near an uncomfortable scene. I believe the title gives away the Haiku meaning, as it should to some extent. HAS REALITY DAWNED FOR YOU?
Today may be a message you want to skip here on Ronovan Writes. It won’t be a pretty message. This is almost a rant but not really. It’s more of a self-realization and determination I’ve discovered as I witness actions in others. Now, don’t think that any of this is judging or anything like that. I’m speaking to this based on a personal level. But it’s something that almost hit me between the eyes with a clarity I’ve never seen before about the subject.
We are all alone at some point. We feel as though no one loves us and we wonder 
why it is even worth attempting love. I’ve been there. My journals are filled with it. FILLED! I know the heavy feeling of the body when you are so low and your heart literally aches. If you’ve never felt heart ache, you’ve never been truly and desperately in need of love or been so broken because of it. Your body, your chest, your heart feels as though it is being squeezed and trying to expand out of your chest at the same time.
A mournful soul wailing in the night from some distant bedroom behind darkened windows takes on a meaning to you when reading it in a book like never before. Tears come to your eyes and you feel as though you’ve read the most beautiful thing in life.
And every moment you feel alone. There is no love for you. There is no caring, no warmth. No tender and loving touch.
The next morning you get up and hurriedly get yourself ready for the day, so you can then get your children ready for school.
You barely make it through your day, putting on fake smiles and pretend laughs only to arrive home to begin your ritual of loneliness again, once the children have gone to do their own things in their rooms.
This goes on for years. And then one day a reality dawns.
Now for me a reality dawned.
I am fortunate in many ways. You all know of my boy “B”. But you also know of my blog, my writing, my LitWorldInterviews site, and even my debut novel coming out. I have great friends that came together in my time of need for a laptop to keep my sanity and my lifeline going to all of you.
The dawning to me didn’t occur until now. It didn’t have to. It just happened. Maybe you’ve picked up on what the dawning is.
But for others they don’t realize what they have. People go through those feelings described above every day, wanting someone. For some they have children and never give a thought that they are loved, they have those people to love them, to have fun with, to enjoy life with.
People foolishly fall victim to the idea of must having a romantic partner in life to be complete. None of us are promised a partner. We have our lives, our abilities, and our imaginations.
To be happy in regards to companionship we have those around us; our family, our friends, and if we are in a situation of no longer having a partner or in that all too commonality of emotionally detached partner, then we may have children. Love those children and enjoy them. Do not be selfish and deny them your 100% enjoyment.
We don’t realize how aware children are these days. They notice everything because they are shown everything in so many forms. They know what facial expressions, body language, and even excuses really mean.
We can do a great deal of damage to our children by living and dwelling in a personal emotional space of constant want. We are the role models for our children, or we hope we are. Look at who and what you are, the space your mind is in and ask yourself if you want your child to be like that?
Yes, I know there are some with true concerns that need help, professional help, but I think most of you realize I am speaking about the rest of us who can overcome these moments and situations on our own.
You don’t need a romantic partner. That’s a myth. A very nice myth. A romance that happens is something for people who are in them. That does not mean they are in a situation that is better than a person who is not in a romance. You could probably ask a lot of people who are single again and they will tell you that they enjoy the single life a lot more. Some might say romance is better.
Love your kids, your friends, and your family. Don’t worry about romance. If it is meant to be and it happens, then that is a situation you will discover you either enjoy or not. A romance is a lot of work in order to make it a strong and lasting one. Even those that seem perfect to everyone else, they need a lot of behind the scenes work.
If you are someone waiting on someone else, even a specific someone, and that someone doesn’t seem to be waiting for you . . . think hard about enjoying what you do have. Sometimes what you have is the most precious thing you could ever have. Learn to smile and to love in you.

With words like Tide & Flesh you kind of wonder where people would go this week. One reason I didn’t put an Opening Haiku in the actual challenge post was so as not to influence people’s thoughts. My personal contribution this week can be viewed as being of a human nature or from that of those of an animal in nature. The image gives one a thought, but those thoughts may be wrong. That’s the great thing about Haiku.

Waves of hunger end,
With the potato now gone,

Tessa: Writing is my life is the name of her blog for the challenge. The other is Advocate for Mental Illness, although the URL says TessaCanDoIt.com. I kind of like that, I think it encompasses the Advocate title as well. Her first blog title pretty much matches what my blog title means. Seems we have a few things in common, especially why we blog. But I don’t have grandchildren yet. Thank goodness. Otherwise my 11 year old would have a lot to explain, or some old girlfriend of mine would have even more explaining to do. How did I get to talking about my old girlfriends? If you’ve read my blog long enough you know that already.

At first I was a little concerned my past was coming back to haunt me, perhaps that old girlfriend I mention in a review further down in the review but was technically entered before this one. Olga: Ever Lasting | Stuff and what if. I at first read the final line incorrectly. That’s what I get for doing these Reviews when tired and in the middle of the night, but then I’m always tired and there is no day or night for me. If you know me then you know what I mean. But that incorrect reading is why I read the Haiku several times before I type anything. Then I think about it, and then I dig when the words warrant it. For this one I feel a personal connection to it in that no matter what happens to me in my ailments, that last line is something I hope is real for me.

On a funny note. I love the image and when I pass my cursor over it and off it looks like it’s a lightning storm. Very appropriate with the image. Very cool. (I’m a guy. Things amuse me.)

Awesome but kind of creeps me out thinking about it. Ireland has lots of ‘splainin’ to do. Melissa writes about something her families has to do for the winter and it’s something you just don’t think about nor do you consider the thought you must put into it, the planning. Another week, another challenge, another group of 47 great people making all of this work, and I didn’t go searching for lost and errant poets this time. Both WordPress and Blogger blogs are represented.
I’ve had people recently tell me how much all of you communicate with each other and engage each other. People wonder how “I” created such a great THING here where people show up and participate. I always say I have nothing to do with it except coming up with two words a week and an example. I’m not sure how it’s grown like this, well I do, you guys have done it. Thank you for what you do to make this the success it is.
Okay, enough of the mushy stuff, let’s get on with the awful poetry this week. 😉 Ahhh, sarcasm, it suits me so well.

Sometimes those Honeymoon nights can be a bummer. 🙂 Not that I PERSONALLY would know that. Nope, not moi.

Such a unique and amazing Haiku. One of my MUST READS this week. Her explanation of how it came about is a lesson in itself. My IQ may be quite high but this one made the brain pain a bit. AWESOME! Oh boy, now to see what ET put upon the anvil. My head perhaps? Hmm, I think I am safe. Or so I am interpreting it as my being safe. denis1950: Hot Start | Haiku Hound. 3 Haiku in the 3/5/3 style. You may see this around quite often in the challenge. The 3/5/3 makes it even more challenging. Try it if you like. So a Serious, a Nature, and a Humor. 🙂 I think the nature one qualifies as Humor as well. Hate to say it but it reminds me of ladies at a hair salon. 🙂 Not sure why. I know I will pay for that one when some read this. Great images, the first is a wow, the third is very cool, and the middle is the hair salon.

Week 61 was for the words Wine & Tears. I came up with the prompt words from a spur of the moment thought I had in a melancholy mood and I shared it on Twitter. I liked the way the words turned out after reading them the next day and they became the starting point for the example or opening Haiku of the Challenge. Laughter can do miracles. It’s my go-to for any situation and usually works to get people I know into a better frame of mind and realize all is not lost or hopeless or as bad as they think.
The Closing Haiku
With a wine red nose,
The clown made the people laugh,
While tears flowed inside.

Judy: Bad Blood | Edwina’s Episodes. The title I gave this week is implied somewhat by the Haiku. I get a sense of initial conniving followed by realization. As I pondered a title friendship came to mind and the colors in the image used, and a take on the prompt words and that led me to Taylor Swift’s song Bad Blood. There is a story behind the song about friendship. @EdwinasEpisodes
Carol: Affair to Forget | Mama Cormier. Two Haiku that one reader noted was an affair in two Haiku. Thus I decided on the title. For me it would have been Moutain Dew cola at Taco Bell instead of the setting in the image she used. 🙂 @Carol_Cormier

Sandra: View | Wild Daffodil. Combining the two challenges she likes to do, this one and Bluedaisyz Weekly photo challenge, we get a amazing photo that goes perfectly with the Haiku. I just hope they made it back okay. Nice to see where you’ve been as long as you can still make it to where you’re going. 🙂
Denis1950: Sunset Over Wine | Haiku Hound. Okay, the two Haiku are great. But when you put your photos of those sunsets of over the bay with those boats masts silhouetted…WOW. Great combinations all around.

Amy: Recovery | Haiku of a Homeschooler. I enjoy those Haiku that have a deep personal meaning. When the author shares that meaning and allows you to enter into that world of emotion with them, it is something special. This is one of those. Meredith & Martha: Wine brings forth the truth | Meredith’s Musings. As you know, if you are a regular, we have four Haiku this week from our Angels. The one title is mine to somewhat sum up the feel I get from what they shared. First there are Frivolity & Lachrymose from Meredith and then Red, Red, Wine & Obloquy from Martha. You know, when you need a dictionary to read the Haiku you know you are in over your head. 🙂 The ladies went all out this week. @Meredithlbl

Hello Everyone,
This week the suggested focus was to make two complete sentences out of the three lines of Haiku with the second line being the end of the first sentence and the beginning of the second sentence. It wasn’t a must, just a suggestion for those interested in moving toward or testing their ability at the traditional form of Haiku.

Totally ignore everything I say from this point on. I took double medications and am really far out there at the moment. No werewolves were harmed in the making of this Haiku Review.

Juliette: A Year in Haiku | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. One year doing our Haiku Challenge, and the only person to do every single one of them, as far as I can tell. Dedication or OCD, I’m not certain but I say thank you for that continued participation. Here the woman I finally settled on calling Juliette explains how she came to be involved in the challenge. She gives not only this weeks Haiku offering but each weeks as well, with a total of 64 Haiku. If you want to see how someone has grown or regressed in their life over a time span, Haiku can be a great way to do that. Juliette has gone from being the mystery woman of the group to a mainstay veteran who I can always count on being involved. And more often than not when I see a like in the comments next to someone’s link on the Challenge post, she’s the one who has liked it. A true full on participate. @BWseekingBL

Judy/Edwina: Working for it | Edwina’s Episodes. First of all, call her Judy or Edwina, both are her names, but Judy seems to be the one commonly used in her comment section by those who chat with her, although she notes that she kind of has become fond of being called Edwina. That image she used sets off everything nicely. You may need to click the image to get a good read of the Haiku. For me that makes it even better though. @Edwinasepisodes

Melissa Barker-Simpson (Author): Brothers in Arms | M Barker-Simpson. Call her Mel. At least that’s what she signs everything as. Not only does she have a blog but an author site as well. She’s everywhere. Now to the Haiku. I had named this one The Journey until I noticed the name in the link. I liked her explaining how she arrives at her Haiku and it makes you begin to anticipate what she’s working on. Sneaky, right? A lot of feeling here. I like it. No Twitter as far as I have found. Maylian: Sensory | Personal Self Perfection. Maylian returns for a second week!!! YAY!!! Two Haiku this week from Maylian. Very much nature with some humanness thrown in. (Is it just me or does humanness “funny? Okay, and no wisecracks about how funny humans look.) Definitely go visit the blog. I love the look of it; the layout and color scheme. Very nice.

Janice: Bridge | Ontheland. Two meanings for the Haiku, as Janice explains in her post. And it is a post of encouragement and inspiration. Well here we are again, well so I am anyway. This is actually much later in the order of entries and the second for Janice. Bridge of Change. Denis gives us a lesson about a little place just outside of Hobart Tasmania Australia. Like I’ve said before, love these types of pieces. The Haiku says a lot about the subject.

No Bridge Too Far.
Thinking of the prompt words for my Haiku Challenge this week, I encourage you to join with the great group of poets/bloggers, my evil mind came up with this week I kept thinking of how the word bridge united two worlds. Those worlds could be any two life systems this planet possesses.
I’m staying positive in these thoughts. I’m considering the world of love today. How often have you seen that true love in your life only to say it is impossible or too much trouble to achieve happiness? How often do you say it just wasn’t meant to be, or maybe you don’t deserve it?
For some it could actually be a physical distance. Maybe even other obstacles combined with that distance. Is ultimate love and happiness worth a going the extra miles, giving the extra effort, or perhaps even going through that miles and miles of pain knowing love is waiting at the end?
Is there a bridge too far for you?
A bridge too far is
A path you’ve never taken,
Could change your future.

In Search of Life #FlashFiction
“You’re such a liar.”
“Shut up. You have NO idea what you’re talking about.” I didn’t care if he did or not, but I wasn’t in the mood for anything he had to say right now.
There was only one problem with that. “That empty hole in your chest, the cold-hollow ache in your bones like a cancer…you know what it is.” He just never knows when to shut up and didn’t give a crap about my moods.
“This is none of your business, so for the last time shut it.” If I clenched my teeth any tighter they would break.
“This is just as much mine as yours. I’m just not the coward here who’s afraid to admit the truth.” I hated him. I wasn’t a coward, I just didn’t want to hurt again. I didn’t want the tidal waves to come pounding back in where her love had left from me.
“Ever think about what-ifs?” I didn’t expect or wait for an answer. “I live on them. They are my protein that keep me alive.”
“I know that, Walker. You think that’s news to me? You think I don’t know about your every feeling of dread at every wasted second without her?” If anyone would know it was him.
“I’m tired. This tornado of emotions I live, not knowing when the next moment will be…it hurts.”
“Which hurts worse…pain of never knowing or the pain after the joy of having her for those few brief moments? That is what you need to decide.”
“I already made my decision. Don’t you know that, Mr. Know-Everything? Would I be like this if I hadn’t? Do you think I could live without her…even if having her is for only minutes at a time?” I hated him. Why couldn’t he let me wallow in my self pity?
“I know all of that. I’m here to keep reminding you of it…lest you forget it.” I slammed the notebook shut.
READ ME NOW!
I stared at those words on the cover–words I had been reading for years.
Gripping the notebook in both hands, I tore it in half with only the binding keeping the two pieces together. The small trash can beside the hotel bed rattled and rocked from the fall of the notebook into it.
I didn’t want to read any more.

The Haiku: The Parent Plunge. My name for her Haiku and one that doesn’t even come close to giving away what the Haiku is about. The photos she used to go along with the Haiku are her own and I have to say WOW. Am I so envious she had this experience.
