I try and behave
I’m not over love but through
Haiku I confess.
I try and behave, I’m not over love, but through.
I’m not over love but through Haiku I confess.
I try and behave
I’m not over love but through
Haiku I confess.
I try and behave, I’m not over love, but through.
I’m not over love but through Haiku I confess.
Hope y’all don’t mind the Closing Haiku. It’s been a while since I’ve done one. I’ve tried to stay out of the influencing of moods in the challenges lately. And honestly there does seem to be a bit more variety now that I no longer do an Opening Haiku.
Just links this week. Not positive how long my window of internet is.

Log: Blog Sol 556
I’m screwed. Communications in main command center is down. Had to be driven in rover to FF Site MickeyD’s for brief use of systems. Some participants of challenge will be slighted in review or missed. Apologies now. Will make up for it later.
Signing off for now, Space Ranger Ronovan.
TJ Paris: Cry Out To Me |La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. Last week TJ brought as three and he does so again. I didn’t put out a Haiku of my own until Wednesday as part of my #BeWoW link share. I waited because I thought TJ had figured out the Haiku I shared just after midnight my time on Mondays was a Haiku for the challenge and thus had the challenge words in it. But what does he do this time? Three again and just as fast. Man, the dude just has the flow. @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): Sunshine | Annette Rochelle Aben. I figure this was either about sunshine or she was talking about herself. You can decide which when you visit the further adventures of Rochelle in Annette Aben. Check out Annette’s books at the Author link above and her Radio Show at the Host link. @YouAreTheExpert
Elizabeth: Sunrise | Tea & Paper. The humor of this is I named Annette’s before seeing the name of Liz’s. I think she goes by Liz at times. But I know her as Elizabeth but wanted to share her preference. But anyway, I like how she came up with the image this week, and it is part of her Haiku. How the challenge sets minds to thinking and observing is fun. @teandpaper
Alice: GSimple Gestures | Boomerang Zone. Now from a lady who might bring to mind a a movie title from a 1974 film by Martin Scorsese that saw the lead actress win the Academy award, we have Alice. Fortunately she is doing the opposite of the movie titles name with us. . @Vidocq_CC
Judy: Suit to a T (Shirt) | Edwina’s Episodes. She may not be the one cast as a Frank N. Furter and no she will not be sullying the memory of a classic but this lady makes any color look good. Haiku must Fall in to her lap with as quickly as she writes them. @EdwinasEpisodes
jazzytower: Who’s Carol? | Thoughts and Entanglements. Public Relations says I should cuddle up with this Haiku. Not sure if some would approve of that, but depending on who Carol is, I might be game. @jazzytower
Kat: Three Cheers to Kat! | like mercury colliding. Man Kat can do. All the way from Nepal this former leader of OMRLP now spends her days enjoying words and the world around her. Her commentary of the season of the US national pastime is quite poignant considering the fate of various teams of late.
Liz: That Cheery Call | Quilted Poetry. All the way from the age defying weather of the cryogenic frozen lands of the north, comes a lady of esteem, no not the family of German actors from the early 20th Century, but a brilliant wordsmith in her own right. Her self titled Haiku could have a sub heading of Contrary Calling as well. @QuiltedPoetry
Jane Dougherty (Author): Sing, Sing a Song | Jane Dougherty Writes. The three degrees of Jane this week were not written about a popular Australian Trio of singing brothers, although one of their members is named and does sing. I dare say this one hit wonder of a singer has perhaps the longest charted song on record, and does not appear in a prison of the same name as the title may infer. Check out Jane’s books on Amazon at the Author link above. @MJDougherty33
Mira:(2 links) Cheer Me Up | They, You And Me. I would love to but I’m certain there would be several to protest my attempts. I think we all fell for Mira At First Sight and have enjoyed her presence ever since. As for the Haiku, oh this one touches the heart in a deep way and reaches out to many a member I am certain. Cheer and Joy | To Wear A Rainbow. Giving others a bit of support I do believe. Such a thoughtful lady. @BediMona
Ritu: Gone-A Tonka & Last Orders | But I Smile Anyway. No, I’m sorry for all you field hockey fans, this is not that Ritu. Perhaps after reading that last Haiku I might change my mind and think Ritu is using a fake photo and this IS the field hockey player. Nonetheless, the Tonka involved here is not the toy that brings smiles and cheer to millions of children. @PhantomGiggler
Clarence:(3 this week.) The Victim | PrarieChat. Not sure if he’s already earned his wings but I think he’s been living a wonderful life, and I bet he’s tired of hearing things like that. A story of the evils of life and love and aftermath is provided to us this week. And a second one: Susan Lucci’s Last Goodbye. Ha. Someone has been watching way too much TV this week. A third, Just In Time For Ronovan’ s Cheer and Call
Sue Vincent (Author): Recall | Daily Echo. What can you say about a beautiful woman with red hair and a list of books a mile long to her name that hasn’t already been said? No, seriously, what can you say? Let her know in the comments for her Haiku. Her story told is full of nature and will bring a rosy glow to your cheeks . . . if you hold your device close enough to your face when you read her Haiku that is. Click the Author link for Sue at Amazon and her many books. @SCVincent
Sandra: Orange | Wild Daffodil. To praise our Flower in residence would be like Gilding a Lily, so I’ll move on from here. Daffy left us with a bit of a mystery this week with her photography. Where, what, why, and when were not answered, although normally a forthcoming individual, she was forthawaying this time. See what I mean by Make the Most of Your Post. by visiting this Haiku and noting what all she connects it to.
Steven: Thrush | Ramblings of a Drabbling Mind. Steven has been kind to us. Not only does he continue to provide his experimental Haiku but also a traditional one for those of us who need the in-your-face form.
Greg: Shouts of Joy | Potholes in the Road of Life. Sorry ladies, and perhaps some men, Greg isn’t part of Wolford Fashion so you’ll have to look for those bodysuits elsewhere. The young man brings us a message today, a message of opposing feelings, as he should have, and one that could apply to the Writer’s Quote Wednesday by Colleen. His participation, as explained in the beginning of the post shows what the community that has grown here has truly become. Two words + three lines = many friends. @greg_wolford
Janice: On a Crescent Moon | Ontheland She may be a HÓU but that just means she’s popular. Don’t know what that means? Ah, then you haven’s snooped like the master snooper has. She’s a Monkey of Fire and all signs point to her being quite a success wherever she may find herself. Her softer side is shown in a very lovely moment shared here. I greatly enjoyed reading about what led to the Haiku being written and the fact the words were on her mind at any given point during this time speaks to me a great deal. It means a lot and is most appreciated. @ontheland1
Jen (JK): SKΆL & SALUT | The Secret Keeper. Some may wonder if JK is secretly a Rowling success in the world of publishing. That would be an affirmative. She publishes several times a week, making her a widely published author read in more countries than many of the supposed top authors of our time. A toast to our friend for her two Haiku that gives us a gander in to a life that lights up and puffs us up with (pride?). @occultguardian
Tessa: The Last Call | Writing is my life. No, not the Canadian hockey player, nor the subject of the Norwegian novel of the same name, well maybe not, I haven’t asked. She is a a writer of fiction though, and has her work on her site in chapter form for your enjoyment and convenience. Her Haiku can be happy or sad, all depending on which subject you focus upon and which formed sentence you are looking at. @TeresaSmeigh
Daniel Schwamm: Call on ME | Musing Life’s Mysteries. I don’t believe he Daniel is a mushroom farmer, no matter what some of you may believe to have deduced. Although that would be a tasty venture. And no, not a Kiwi farmer either, (Neither the bird nor fruit.) and I think that rather droll of all of you for assuming that a New Zealander would automatically be such. Ahhh, when I first saw the title of his Haiku it brought to mind the song Lean on Me, and although that is not the title, the message is much the same. The link is to the Bill Withers version from 1972. The image is not he that has been named, but Al Green. @danSchwamm
Al: Cheers of the Disturbed One | Al the Author’s Blog. A well preserved sort for an early to mid 20th Century Actor, Writer, Director, and Producer in Hollywood, Al Lane now spends day as a Civil Servant while spending most of his day writing for our enjoyment. Yes, you read that correctly. Some of you will actually get it, and some will hurt me physically for implying you wouldn’t. For some unknown reason the young man decided to write FIVE Haiku on his birthday. Mostly about alcohol even when disguised as something else. 110 Cheers for AL!!! @AlistairLane
Elusive: Law of 22 Prairial | Elusive Trope. Hiding out in the wilds of PA after finding success in leasing out parts of the city with his name across the welcome signs for entertainment purposes, the Elusive one now pleases his visitors with writings and continues to grace our community each week with a Haiku offering. The Haiku is a great terror of an attempt this week. A true life or death of a read. And on his birthday as well.
R. Todd: Mockingjay | A Flash of Fiction. I didn’t want to out our friend, but Lord Todd has been found alive and his passing in 1997 at the age of 89 was an attempt to escape to the glare of public life and slink into the obscurity of the blog life. But he has been found out. My powers of deduction are beyond compare. I have not the slightest what that title for the Haiku nor the Haiku itself means. Do you? It must be some obscure reference to something he’s seen in his past life. @psibrone
D.B. Mauldin (Author): Early Bird & Nature | mama bear musings. Not sure if it’s too hot, too cold or just right where she is but her Haiku seems to make me think just right. Maybe I should have eaten first before perusing that first one. At least it wasn’t spaghetti. Check out the Author link for offerings on Amazon and click HERE for the About page links to other online distribution such as Smashwords. @dmauldin3
Olga: Political Uproar | Stuff and what if. Does she have a sister or cousin who appeared with Nicholas Cage, or perhaps that relative played someone with the same name as myself? Humor over with now on with the show. Olga shows her rampant political activism she has hidden from us all this time.
Melissa Barker-Simpson (Author): Trick or Treat | M Barker-Simpson. Never knew a game show host and jailed football player had an offspring somehow but here we have the proof. Just remember to have your pets spayed or neutered or you may find some gloves near an uncomfortable scene. I believe the title gives away the Haiku meaning, as it should to some extent. Quite the creative flare for the imagery. Click the Author link above to visit her on Amazon.
Pat B.: Four Cheers for Pat | A season and a time. Imagine a famous chef Brockett in your neighborhood. Wouldn’t you want to be her neighbor? This week Pat went cheerfully nuts with commentary on the nature of life in various facets.
J Lapis: Calls to Cheer | DarkLight Harbor. Feeling blue today or precious as a gem? No? No worries, I believe our poet has it covered. Suspense in the later of the two offerings this week. Had us wanting to throw stones from feeling so blue but pulled things out at the last moment.
Claudette: Echoes | to search and to find. Speaking of a real jewel, Claudette returns to us this week.
Shelly Faber: Cheer & Call | My Red Wine Diary. @ShellyFaber
Melissa: Autumn Wreath for the birds | The Aran Artisan. Not certain about that title but it is the title of the post. @thearanartisan
Vashti Quiroz-Vega (Author): Cheer & Call | The Writer Next Door. Check out Vashti on Amazon at the Author link above and you can see her interview by clicking HERE. @VashtiQV
Steven S. Walsky (Author): the call of Mickey | Simplicity Lane. Click the Author link above to go to Steven’s blog where you will find all the available places for each book. He’s varied.
Florence: night silence/support | Meanings And Musings. But my internet is down, how can you hear me? It must be very silent now. 😉 @FTThum

44 Players this week, and one amazing new person joined in. You definitely need to go check her blog out. Also you’ll notice something strange about the review. I did it in reverse. After the First to Offend it goes in last one in, first one mentioned and so forth. I thought, why not throw a monkey mallet into the mix.
Pine car’s race down hill,
To certain glory and dread,
Pizza does race on.
NEW! Diedré M. Blake: “…a writer and art therapist, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. She goes by “D.” and has been called a “Renaissance woman” by friends. Travelling has always been an aspect of her personal and family history. She was born in Jamaica.” Check out much more about this fascinating woman on her about page by clicking HERE. How Low Feels | Toward The Within. Never thought of that last line before. Cool mind going on here.
TJ Paris: Odd Couplings |La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. Does this dude have a photo for every occasion? If things get more difficult around here it might be because I’m challenging his photo file. Nah, I wont’ do that, at least not on purpose. @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Steven S. Walsky (Author): the words drift back | Simplicity Lane. A Haibun this week–a story–something you do need to read. A truly great piece of writing. Click the Author link above to go to Steven’s blog where you will find all the available places for each book. He’s varied.
Shailzaa: The Tree | Fewunsaidwords. Very good way of using pine here. Two different ways of looking at it depending on the line you want to focus on.
Swatiu: Lesson Learned | imgrowing. I think my title for this one fits. Really it does. Don’t care what y’all say.
E. Rawls (Author): Burdens & Chocolate Longing | Rawls E. Fantasy. Some serious issues here. That’s all I’m saying. Check out Bleeding Hearts, a collection of short stories, poems, and riddles, at Elizabeth’s Author page on Amazon by clicking the Author link above. @VChronicles_
Florence: Dare to Fly | Meanings And Musings. One of those life lesson things she does. @FTThum
Alka: Weltshmertz and our Woeful Longing | Magnanimous Words. She was truly inspired this week. Only partly by the words which then lead elsewhere. @girally
Steven: Taiga and Mo(u)rning | Ramblings of a Drabbling Mind. He went nature. Also make certain to check out the blurb at the bottom of his post.
Vashti Quiroz-Vega (Author): Ekho’s Passion | The Writer Next Door. Nature of a different sort. One must give credit for one interpreting nature in more than one way, while in some ways staying the same. Check out Vashti on Amazon at the Author link above and you can see her interview by clicking HERE. @VashtiQV
H. M. Goodchild (Author): Golden Moans | Folksong and Fantasy. I took a bit of liberty with the naming of this one, a touch of humor. When you read her Haiku, 2 of them, you will see where it came from. We have a talent with us. H. M. Goodchild is found on Amazon as Harriet Goodchild, yes, we have another author joining us. Click the Author link above to go to her Amazon Author page. @HMGoodchild
Greg: It Will End | Potholes in the Road of Life. He cheated, and that’s all I’m sayin’. @greg_wolford
Becky G: For a Road Untraveled | Becky G? Oh, that’s me! Funny how two in a row used the prompt words in one line. Good use of photography to give her words more meaning or a completed meaning.
VronLacroix: Grief in the valley | Simply Shanpshots. Hmm, interesting. After a couple of readings I got it. A great thing about Haiku is you can read it twice in a matter of seconds. 🙂
jazzytower: Beauty Reaches | Thoughts and Entanglements. Well I personally think one aids the other. @jazzytower
Daniel Schwamm: Nest of Death | Musing Life’s Mysteries. Cool. Totally did some interpreting here and awesome. That one for pine may take people a few moments, but it works. @danSchwamm
Jane Dougherty (Author): Long neck memories | Jane Dougherty Writes. Three Haiku telling a story. Had fun coming up with this title. Check out Jane’s books on Amazon at the Author link above. @MJDougherty33
denis: tomorrow | Haiku hound. A Haiku that could apply to man or beast and an image that works so well. And I made him dig for this image. Awesome me.
Elizabeth: Silence | Tea & Paper. I think more of us can understand this one, including the story to go with it than we all could imagine. Believe me, I totally get it. @teandpaper
Dr. Kottaway: Grieve | KO Rural Mad As Hell Blog. Rhymes all over the place in this one, and an expressionist pine is given.
Ritu: Sonu Singh’s Lament & The Things You Do For Love | But I Smile Anyway. Both nature, but different. @PhantomGiggler
D.B. Mauldin (Author): Aromatherapy & Love | mama bear musings. Okay, that first one is just funny if you pay attention to her blog other than the Haiku challenge. . Check out the Author link for offerings on Amazon and click HERE for the About page links to other online distribution such as Smashwords. @dmauldin3
Al: ThreeFerOne | Al the Author’s Blog. I know, not very original of me but it’s one of those days where thinking of Al as bear in the woods just kind of scarred me. @AlistairLane
J Lapis: 5 Griefs and Pine-ings| DarkLight Harbor. Nice use of words you don’t use every day. I kind of like that.
Jen (JK): Among the Branches | The Secret Keeper. I think this is one people will relate to in their own varied ways. @occultguardian
Pat B.: Refuge | A season and a time. Very nice. Also some nice comments as well.
Elusive: Near the Clearcut | Elusive Trope. Yeah, I don’t always get the why of these things being done. Sometimes a necessity but most often not.
Sandra: Allegory | Wild Daffodil. Ha, funny with this one. Remember, Wild Daffy is the queen of what I call Make the Most of Your Post.
Nagrij or (Greg Pierce) yeah, I snooped. (Author): Oops | Nagrij Writes the Hits You Never Knew Existed. Yeah, I got it. I’m about an hour from their training facilities, my parents are about 5 minutes away. You can check out the list of books on Amazon by clicking the Author link above.
Olga: Lost to Wisdom | Stuff and what if. Very interesting image. Keep looking at it. A glance won’t work. The Haiku itself has a great message.
Janice: Lose the Craving | Ontheland Okay, I got it. Helps to get it when people aren’t like constantly asking you the same question over and over even though you give the same answer each time. I literally mean over and over during the time I tried to review this one. @ontheland1
Sue Vincent (Author): Unchanging | Daily Echo. Jealousy in nature. Yeah, I can see that. Just like two old men. Click the Author link for Sue at Amazon and her many books. @SCVincent
Clarence:(2 links) Futility | PrarieChat. Aaarrrgh! Find out a bit about Clarence’s acting career in the comments. And a second one: Susan Lucci’s Last Goodbye. Ha. Someone has been watching way too much TV this week.
Kat: Grief Amidst the Pines | like mercury colliding. Okay, you have to love the dedication of this member.
I stopped on the way home to get a photo of that sapling nestled amidst the pines. Replaced the first pic. Like I said…perfect timing for this prompt!
Mira:(2 links) insufferable | They, You And Me. At first sight of the title I thought she was making a commentary on my choice of prompt words. loss | To Wear A Rainbow. I so need to pick more cheerful words next time. @BediMona
Judy: Mourn the Passing | Edwina’s Episodes. It’s not what you think. Go check it out. @EdwinasEpisodes
Peter Bouchier: ‘mine pine’ | Wherever I lay my pen, that’s my home. I like this one. A positive side of it all. Excellent.
Alice: Grief is a bitch | Boomerang Zone. Let’s call it therapy, and I think that’ll explain it. @Vidocq_CC
Meredith & Martha: Oh, Christmas Tree/Grief by Martha and K.I.S./Refugees by Meredith | Meredith’s Musings. These got a lot of lovin’ this week on Meredith’s blog as well as the reblog on my own. @Meredithlbl
Liz: Good Grief | Quilted Poetry. So says the wise. Or the very exasperated. @QuiltedPoetry
Juliette: No Home For The Holidays | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. Holiday hatin’. @BWseeingBL
Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): A Sappy Story | Annette Rochelle Aben. Then take it off, Annette! Check out Annette’s books at the Author link above and her Radio Show at the Host link. @YouAreTheExpert

It’s now clear to me
Harping is much easier
Than I imagined.
I think that pretty much sums up how this challenge went. I was certain that Harp might throw some people but apparently I was wrong. Now on with the show.
NEW! H. M. Goodchild (Author): dsdfs | Folksong and Fantasy. Numerous poetry included in this post, the challenge appears under the Haiku section and is the lat before a bit of a blurb. Also H.M. posted a haiku in the comments of the challenge post: Oh, don’t harp on so / Your mind’s clear by now, you know: / If it matters, Go! H. M. Goodchild is found on Amazon as Harriet Goodchild, yes, we have another author joining us. Click the Author link above to go to her Amazon Author page. @HMGoodchild
Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): The Stringed Winged | Annette Rochelle Aben. Good number of likes to this one and I enjoyed seeing the community commenting. Check out Annette’s books at the Author link above and her Radio Show at the Host link. @YouAreTheExpert A side note here.
TJ Paris: Springtime |La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. Another Haiku with a great response in the comments. It’s a nature Haiku and the photo used is amazing, and nature. Those swans are a surprise! @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Me (Ronovan): Luminosity is Bliss | Ronovan Writes. I’ve enjoyed seeing the interpretations of my Haiku along with the interpretation of my explanation. Oddly, no one has come up with the exact meaning of it all. 🙂 But then I am a confusing kind at times.
Alice: Someone better | Boomerang Zone. A different manner of interpretation. A very clear message delivered. Deserves a visit and a Like. @Vidocq_CC
Shida: The Gift of Music | 876LoveR. Good message. Surprised by the Like number. Tells me something. @realrebel_r
Liz: Bird Song | Quilted Poetry. Very nice imagery in this one. And a bit of the life of Liz in her commentary of the Haiku. @QuiltedPoetry
Judy: When Nature Calls | Edwina’s Episodes. A nature Haiku of a different calling. One must consider what all nature encompasses. I think there is a natural way of looking at it. Also she says I am a hard taskmaster. Wait till the next one. @EdwinasEpisodes
Mira:(2 links) The Wait | They, You And Me. Romantic and suspenseful in a way. love and passion | To Wear A Rainbow. Not sure if she is speaking about my prompts and own Haiku or what. Or am I being paranoid? @BediMona
Tessa: Clear and Crisp | Writing is my life. A direct and to the point Haiku. But one I didn’t really think of. Sometimes it’s those simpler ones that surprise you. @TeresaSmeigh
Steven S. Walsky (Author): ‘why harp’ | Simplicity Lane. Great to look at in a relationship or political sort of way. Or in a Rhino/Elephant Romance kind of way. Click the Author link above to go to Steven’s blog where you will find all the available places for each book. He’s varied.
Clarence:(2 links) Tears, Mirth, and Dreams | PrarieChat. Touch of Irish history/mythology in this one. Google time folks. . And a second one would be Oooh…And It Makes Me Wonder. I think some of you will appreciate this one. So get the Led out.
Prakash: A Match Heaven Made | Its PH. Yeah, the dude came with the Romance this week. I hate it when they show me up with the romantical stuff. @itsPhTweet
Kat: Your Fortune is Clear | like mercury colliding. Some of you have obviously NOT been to check this one out. And you are missing one cool presentation of the Haiku itself. Very well done. Oh, and the Haiku is cool too.
Olga: One Direction Go | Stuff and what if. Some of you may be disturbed by that title I chose but don’t worry, I wouldn’t lead you astray.
Greg:(2 links) The Call Home | Potholes in the Road of Life. I mentioned in the reblog how Greg kept with the theme of his blog with this one, which should be expected, considering the words. But I like it when people are able to take most any word and do that. Greg didn’t link or paste this one for us, but I found it anyway-Harping. And he ain’t talkin’ bout no music neither. @greg_wolford
Ritu: Soapbox Blog-cast | But I Smile Anyway. A humorous title for a serious Haiku and follow-up message. The message this week is very good. I believe a MUST READ for all. A very popular Haiku this week. @PhantomGiggler
Sue Vincent (Author): Harper | Daily Echo. Don’t go Googling this one if you have an arachnid problem. Not that the Haiku mentions one but you somewhat make an assumption. Most excellent imagery of Haiku with the photo image matching perfectly. Hugely popular Haiku this week. Well worth a ReBlog! Click the Author link for Sue at Amazon and her many books. @SCVincent
jazzytower: Harp | Thoughts and Entanglements. I might would have titled this one Concerted Effort. 🙂 @jazzytower
Daniel Schwamm: Love Came Down | Musing Life’s Mysteries. Second week in a row for the new guy. The title is mine but I believe the message of the Haiku inspired it, of course. @danSchwamm
denis: sweet sounds | Haiku hound. A lesson of the Crimson Rosella parrot, with photos. Denis has been trained well. 😉
Jen (JK): The Sound Awakened | The Secret Keeper. A bit difficult to describe this one. And in that I think is a good thing. Go check it out and see what you think. @occultguardian
Swatiu: To See Clearly | imgrowing. This message is a huge one that relates very much to several articles I’ve written here on my own blog. Very nice.
Elusive: The Reiteration | Elusive Trope. Dwell to tell what may have fail. Make certain to read the philosophical exchange in the comments. I love it when a Haiku generates a discussion.
Sandra: Shadows | Wild Daffodil. Make certain to read BOTH Haiku. The first goes with the photograph for the Bluedaisy Weekly Photo Challenge that is linked to in her post. The second is more of a Haiku of joy with the word Harp. Remember, Wild Daffy is the queen of what I call Make the Most of Your Post.
Meredith & Martha: Vixen/Dwelling Place by Meredith and The Harpist/Contented Soul by Martha | Meredith’s Musings. All very beautiful ones this week…well maybe except for Vixen. That one is just too true to be beautiful. @Meredithlbl
Al: Multiple Message | Al the Author’s Blog. I saw politics in this one, not that I believe Al was going there. Just too much news for me of late. I normally don’t pay attention and will now revert to old habits. Check out Al and I engaging in a Haiku chat/battle in his comments. This old boy, moi, still has it. Word. @AlistairLane
Nato: Perfect Love | Chasing Life and Finding Dreams. Four in one this week. A story told. @MichelleLunato
D.B. Mauldin (Author): Sweet Angel Mama’s Harpin’ | mama bear musings. Two Haiku in this one, I just created a title to include both. That second one I think a lot of people will laugh at from the honesty of it and being able to relate to it. Check out the Author link for offerings on Amazon and click HERE for the About page links to other online distribution such as Smashwords. @dmauldin3
J Lapis: River Music | DarkLight Harbor. Pure nature with this one. Great imagery. People are loving that last line.
Elizabeth: Music | Tea & Paper. Read the explanation of this one. AWESOME! I wish that were here. We have the old courthouse clock bell and i can hear it. @teandpaper
Jane Dougherty (Author): Soaring Love’s Melody | Jane Dougherty Writes. Two Haiku this week. As amazing as the words in the Haiku are this week, that painting by Franz Marc is one that will mesmerize. Multiple interpretations of what you might see. Check out Jane’s books on Amazon at the Author link above. @MJDougherty33
Peter Bouchier: Sound or Music | Wherever I lay my pen, that’s my home. Great way his words flowed and the rhymes within the verses. And honestly my interpretation of it went great with his title. My comment explains what I Almost heard.
R. Todd: The Nagging Wife | A Flash of Fiction. I have to say, I’m not certain if my personal Haiku post had any influence on this one or not, but man did he nail it, or at least part of, as there were the two meanings in the Haiku. But seriously, this almost nailed it. 😀 @psibrone
Janice: Tournier Morning | Ontheland NyMusical, lyrical, harpsical–What? That’s not a word? (I ask that because WP gives an error for it.) @ontheland1
VronLacroix: Harmonica | Simply Shanpshots. Ah, I see why she mentioned memories. A harmonica would do that. There are several in my home. I apparently even have a book and cd/dvd on how to play. Did I do it? Amnesia is not telling me, but my boy “B” has one too. 🙂
Steven: Lullaby and Gymnopédie I | Ramblings of a Drabbling Mind. Some of Steven’s experimental Haiku but also a traditional one with a bit of a music lesson. I always love a good twofer post. Haiku and learning. I wonder why I never do that?
Florence: It’s Clearly Love | Meanings And Musings. I had to have fun with this one. We’re good friends so whenever I can poke fun at her a little, Imma gonna do it. Not that this is really poking fun. She sort of did that to herself. Oops. Did I just spill the beans she was talking about herself in the Haiku? Muaahahahaha, or was she? 😉 (Can you tell I’ve hit the wall after about 6 hours straight of Review by this point?) @FTThum
Vashti Quiroz-Vega (Author): Mellifluous Sounds | The Writer Next Door. It may sound odd but her Haiku brings to mind a novel I read a while back from an author involving angels. So I get a darker feel from this than what the words of the Haiku say. Check out Vashti on Amazon at the Author link above and you can see her interview by clicking HERE. @VashtiQV
Nagrij or (Greg Pierce) yeah, I snooped. (Author): Fate | Nagrij Writes the Hits You Never Knew Existed. Giving this one a think. This can be viewed as a pretty deep one depending on how one wishes to approach it. You can check out the list of books on Amazon by clicking the Author link above.
Ruby Manchanda: Clearly melodic | Whispering Thoughts. I like the take here on harp. A very insightful thought. I don’t mean my sentence but the Haiku.
E. Rawls (Author): Colorful Season & Secret Garden | Rawls E. Fantasy. Ah, a bit of a whimsical fairy tale approach. Nice. Check out Bleeding Hearts, a collection of short stories, poems, and riddles, at Elizabeth’s Author page on Amazon by clicking the Author link above. @VChronicles_
Becky G: Out of the Woods | Becky G? Oh, that’s me! The Woods Are Alive with sounds of . . . (Yeah, I worry about me too.)
Juliette: Short and Sweet | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. Whew, I thought for a minute there this was about to get personal, well in a me kind of personal way. But kudos to Juliette for taking the plunge. @BWseeingBL

Today may be a message you want to skip here on Ronovan Writes. It won’t be a pretty message. This is almost a rant but not really. It’s more of a self-realization and determination I’ve discovered as I witness actions in others. Now, don’t think that any of this is judging or anything like that. I’m speaking to this based on a personal level. But it’s something that almost hit me between the eyes with a clarity I’ve never seen before about the subject.
We are all alone at some point. We feel as though no one loves us and we wonder
why it is even worth attempting love. I’ve been there. My journals are filled with it. FILLED! I know the heavy feeling of the body when you are so low and your heart literally aches. If you’ve never felt heart ache, you’ve never been truly and desperately in need of love or been so broken because of it. Your body, your chest, your heart feels as though it is being squeezed and trying to expand out of your chest at the same time.
A mournful soul wailing in the night from some distant bedroom behind darkened windows takes on a meaning to you when reading it in a book like never before. Tears come to your eyes and you feel as though you’ve read the most beautiful thing in life.
And every moment you feel alone. There is no love for you. There is no caring, no warmth. No tender and loving touch.
The next morning you get up and hurriedly get yourself ready for the day, so you can then get your children ready for school.
You barely make it through your day, putting on fake smiles and pretend laughs only to arrive home to begin your ritual of loneliness again, once the children have gone to do their own things in their rooms.
This goes on for years. And then one day a reality dawns.
Now for me a reality dawned.
I am fortunate in many ways. You all know of my boy “B”. But you also know of my blog, my writing, my LitWorldInterviews site, and even my debut novel coming out. I have great friends that came together in my time of need for a laptop to keep my sanity and my lifeline going to all of you.
The dawning to me didn’t occur until now. It didn’t have to. It just happened. Maybe you’ve picked up on what the dawning is.
But for others they don’t realize what they have. People go through those feelings described above every day, wanting someone. For some they have children and never give a thought that they are loved, they have those people to love them, to have fun with, to enjoy life with.
People foolishly fall victim to the idea of must having a romantic partner in life to be complete. None of us are promised a partner. We have our lives, our abilities, and our imaginations.
To be happy in regards to companionship we have those around us; our family, our friends, and if we are in a situation of no longer having a partner or in that all too commonality of emotionally detached partner, then we may have children. Love those children and enjoy them. Do not be selfish and deny them your 100% enjoyment.
We don’t realize how aware children are these days. They notice everything because they are shown everything in so many forms. They know what facial expressions, body language, and even excuses really mean.
We can do a great deal of damage to our children by living and dwelling in a personal emotional space of constant want. We are the role models for our children, or we hope we are. Look at who and what you are, the space your mind is in and ask yourself if you want your child to be like that?
Yes, I know there are some with true concerns that need help, professional help, but I think most of you realize I am speaking about the rest of us who can overcome these moments and situations on our own.
You don’t need a romantic partner. That’s a myth. A very nice myth. A romance that happens is something for people who are in them. That does not mean they are in a situation that is better than a person who is not in a romance. You could probably ask a lot of people who are single again and they will tell you that they enjoy the single life a lot more. Some might say romance is better.
Love your kids, your friends, and your family. Don’t worry about romance. If it is meant to be and it happens, then that is a situation you will discover you either enjoy or not. A romance is a lot of work in order to make it a strong and lasting one. Even those that seem perfect to everyone else, they need a lot of behind the scenes work.
If you are someone waiting on someone else, even a specific someone, and that someone doesn’t seem to be waiting for you . . . think hard about enjoying what you do have. Sometimes what you have is the most precious thing you could ever have. Learn to smile and to love in you.

With words like Tide & Flesh you kind of wonder where people would go this week. One reason I didn’t put an Opening Haiku in the actual challenge post was so as not to influence people’s thoughts. My personal contribution this week can be viewed as being of a human nature or from that of those of an animal in nature. The image gives one a thought, but those thoughts may be wrong. That’s the great thing about Haiku.
Tessa: Writing is my life is the name of her blog for the challenge. The other is Advocate for Mental Illness, although the URL says TessaCanDoIt.com. I kind of like that, I think it encompasses the Advocate title as well. Her first blog title pretty much matches what my blog title means. Seems we have a few things in common, especially why we blog. But I don’t have grandchildren yet. Thank goodness. Otherwise my 11 year old would have a lot to explain, or some old girlfriend of mine would have even more explaining to do. How did I get to talking about my old girlfriends? O,O Before I go anywhere else, let’s go to the Haiku. The Waves! Okay, she kind of made me think about sand and stuff, and if you read the comments you’ll see what I mean. @TeresaSmeigh
J Lapis: Yearning For the Tide | DarkLight Harbor. Ah, a very insightful message. Very people actually think about the truth of this. Awesome. Couldn’t find information to share. But we have a definite poet. How do I know? Well the name of the site has the subheading of Poetry to it. I sort of take that as a sign, plus all the poetry that is on there. 😉
Daniel Schwamm: Redeeming Flow | Musing Life’s Mysteries. Great Haiku. Seriously. And from the comments and just the general feel of the blog I get an energy from this guy. I’ve taken select parts of his About page to share, but you click HERE to see the rest. Seriously. “A human being in all the complexity and uniqueness that being human involves. Think with me. Share your thoughts.
Let’s explore together. If this is your cup of tea, or coffee for those so inclined, feel free to follow me and walk this journey together.” And there was more in the middle. Where is he from? Where did he go to University? And what is his blog about? Click that HERE up THERE and find out. @danSchwamm
Annie: Cleansed | Gentle Kindness. Love that middle line. “This is my blog and I have become quite attached to it. I think that bloggers come alive and discover their true inner voice when they nurture and water their blog on a regular basis. It takes on a life of its own that you could not have foreseen when you wrote that very first post.” So that’s part of her About page and I agree with what she says. If you’ve read my blog long enough you know that already.
Peter Bouchier: Drifting | Wherever I lay my pen, that’s my home. The title is mine, of course. And it fits what I saw the two events occurring. Or at least I saw two events, but then I am a Gemini, whatever that means. Peter comes to us through Jane Dougherty, as he reblogged her offering this week and provided one of his one at the same time. Thus I decided to throw him into the mix.
cbhanek: Returning Evil and Love, Crocheted |Quick Thinks about Literature & Life (Redundant?) At first I was a little concerned my past was coming back to haunt me, perhaps that old girlfriend I mention in a review further down in the review but was technically entered before this one. Fortunately I was wrong . . . maybe. About cbhanek: “As you might not have guessed, “cbhanek” is the pen name of a mother-daughter team of teacher-authors. Between us, we have taught language arts-literature to every grade from preschool through adult school.” And there is a lot more, of course. Click HERE to read the rest of the story. @cbhanek
Nagrij or (Greg Pierce) yeah, I snooped. (Author): Halloween | Nagrij Writes the Hits You Never Knew Existed. (Coffee infused it seems.) 🙂 Swarming flesh? Well kind of. OOoooOOooOOOoOO. Okay, I’m better now, back to normal. Okay so no info on the Nagrij. 🙂 But, apparently a person of their word. They said they would give the challenge a shot and they did and they did it well. So I snooped and found some stuff. You can check out the list of books on Amazon by clicking the Author link above.
Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): Talkin’ Dirty Laundry | Annette Rochelle Aben. She’s stuck in the pun zone since last week. It’s a scary thing. Check out Annette’s books at the Author link above and her Radio Show at the Host link. @YouAreTheExpert A side note here. I was able to catch her Friday show and connected with her author guest. Very intelligent guy and I now have a book to review, a friend on Twitter, and an enemy in College Football, especially after Saturday’s game results. Very nice man by the name of @ph_solomon And you can catch his interview with Annette by clicking here, and I’m the one in the chat room that asked the question Annette asks him.
Greg: Grace | Potholes in the Road of Life. I somehow knew he would go there. 🙂 @greg_wolford
TJ Paris: The Fleshpots! |La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. When I first read the intro to this Three Haiku offering, I was almost expecting a vegetarian trio, but nope. @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Judy: Bone | Edwina’s Episodes. Oh just wait until you see this one. Was I surprised? Does anything this woman does surprise me? @EdwinasEpisodes
jazzytower: Feeling Beachy | Thoughts and Entanglements. Well, when you don’t think of the prompts in a certain way and then read a Haiku the word DUH comes to mind. So, DUH. @jazzytower
Alice: Water Erosion | Boomerang Zone. You know, considering Alice’s background, I have to say I am not overly surprised at this. But then you take a look at this nice, sweet, pleasant looking lady and think, “No way she would think like that.” @Vidocq_CC
Liz: Tide of Light | Quilted Poetry. This one had some nice reactions in the comments. And some confessions by moi. I think that last word was French, without the funny thing over the funny things over the letters. @QuiltedPoetry
Meredith & Martha: (Meredith) Attraction and Undercurrent, (Martha) Hang On and Melancholy | Meredith’s Musings. Cellular? Cool. I like the alternate of tide in Hang On. @Meredithlbl
Kat: Boxed Out? | like mercury colliding. I dare you to count ’em all. She pen the med oh, against the times.
Mira: Ghostly Night | They, You And Me. oooo Spooky. And a new use for the prompt Tide. indifference | To Wear A Rainbow. You know, that is one interesting way of putting it. And she is so very correct. @BediMona
Clarence: Lovers Touch | PrarieChat. oooo Clarence, you devil. And a second one would be Dream Catcher. Ah, nice take on the flesh prompt. Good turn there, dude.
Ritu: Need | But I Smile Anyway. Oh . . . my . . . Ritu. O,O. @PhantomGiggler
Melissa Barker-Simpson (Author): Pound of Flesh | M Barker-Simpson. Who thinks it’s cool how Mel relates the Haiku challenge prompts back to her Work In Progress? 🙂 I think I might be scared. Click the Author link above to visit her on Amazon.
Khor: Waverings | Project Prose. Oh those thinky people. @MinKhor
Elizabeth: feelings | Tea & Paper. Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
Wo-o-o, feel you again in my arms. @teandpaper
Jen (JK): Endless Cycle | the secret keeper. Oh this is a fun one. Childlike in nature and the image is very appropriate and not in the normal way. I can actually see certain images in my mind this describes perfectly. Thank you for this one. @occultguardian
Sandra: Numbers | Wild Daffodil. o,O Only Daffy the Wild One would do something like this. Tsk tsk tsk. (Some of you may have read my recent post Make the Most of Your Post. Well, Delicious Daffy does exactly what I talk about in that post.
Dr. Kottaway: I gotta say it up front. I always want to say Mr. Kotta when I see her name. Don’t sweat it, I’m not a hog. (How many of you got any of that?) 😉 Okay, now to the Haiku. Fresh flesh | KO Rural Mad As Hell Blog. Some of you may not be familiar with the good doctor, but well, that blog title should tell you a lot. This is one disturbed doctor. I so am not going to her. Nope. And such a nice photo too. But then that makes even more disturbing. So actually excellent! Had to give her a difficult time there. It’s been a while.
Al: Sleepless Nights Remedied | Al the Author’s Blog. Now some of you will go and read the two Haiku this week and think, “Where did that title come from?” Then some of you are thinking now, “Where do any of his titles come from?” So read and enjoy AND he has a link to a short zombie tale for you to start off October right. @AlistairLane
D.B. Mauldin (Author): Jelly Fish Mornings | mama bear musings. Not sure what exactly her image was when writing but this is what came to my mind from when I spent about 2 months the year after high school during the spring break season in Florida on the beach. I would take a walk each morning before the heat and crazies came out. Check out the Author link for offerings on Amazon and click HERE for the About page links to other online distribution such as Smashwords. @dmauldin3
Olga: Ever Lasting | Stuff and what if. I at first read the final line incorrectly. That’s what I get for doing these Reviews when tired and in the middle of the night, but then I’m always tired and there is no day or night for me. If you know me then you know what I mean. But that incorrect reading is why I read the Haiku several times before I type anything. Then I think about it, and then I dig when the words warrant it. For this one I feel a personal connection to it in that no matter what happens to me in my ailments, that last line is something I hope is real for me.
Elusive: Powerlessness | Elusive Trope. Back to nature with this one. And I mean that in many ways.
Janice: Nature Rebounding | Ontheland. You know, I haven’t done a study yet, but I should of my personal situation and see what the phases of a certain orb does in conjunction with my said situation. Funny how a Haiku can set your mind to thinking. 🙂 But then y’all know my mind gets to thinking a lot. @ontheland1
vronlacroix: Tidal waves | Simply Snapshots. Ah, a great take on the prompt words but also a nice play on words with the title of the Haiku and then the meaning. Surprise there and very true. Great. On a funny note. I love the image and when I pass my cursor over it and off it looks like it’s a lightning storm. Very appropriate with the image. Very cool. (I’m a guy. Things amuse me.)
denis1950: Feeding with the tide | Haiku hound. As always we have some great photos with the Haiku and I like the explaining of what is in the photos. By the way, he continues with the 3/5/3 form of Haiku here.
Jane Dougherty (Author): Food for Fowl | Jane Dougherty Writes. Took a little freedom by using the painting she shared and combing what the Haiku could mean. She said there might be another, and as any author knows, always bring the sequel when you have success the first time out. The Sea Provides Needs. And actually there are 2 Haiku there. Check out Jane’s books on Amazon at the Author link above. @MJDougherty33
Pat B.: A Mother’s Tide | A season and a time. Well I do believe I came across the most unique take on the prompt words. This one never would have crossed my mind. 🙂
Nato: Tide of Love | Chasing Life and Finding Dreams. Girl got some Romance going on over there. O,O And the comments seem to agree. @MichelleLunato
The Jane Dougherty Gang: Click HERE for the Haiku post. And the poets’ names below for their personal blogs. Yes I know she has an entry above but this is for other poets who posted in her comments. She wanted to share their efforts with us. From Published Author Harriet Goodchild there is The Tideline Taking and from Peter Bouchier we have Drifting. Peter appears in the New section at the beginning of the challenge, as his Haiku appeared on his blog. And wouldn’t you know, Jane also joined in for a third go with Crab Delight.
R. Todd: Objects | A Flash of Fiction. Wow, right to the point, and he nails it for so many. Chesapeake Bay. Bit of a history lesson of sorts, what with the image used. But then it is appropriate. I love old images and history. I wonder why. 😀 @psibrone
Sue Vincent (Author): Waning | Daily Echo. Where in the world did she come up with that six syllable word in the second line? Wow. This could be the Haiku of the week. Seriously awesome use of words. Click the Author link for Sue at Amazon and her many books. @SCVincent
Colleen: Family Relations | SilverThreading. Not having read the comments to this one, as I don’t until after I review, much like when I review a book, I think of how Colleen is moving and her life is somewhat starting anew. @SilverThreading
Vashti Quiroz-Vega (Author): Cosa Nostra | The Writer Next Door. She went HIT us with one that left is stone cold. Check out Vashti on Amazon at the Author link above and you can see her interview by clicking HERE. @VashtiQV
Ruby Manchanda: Tides rush in | Whispering Thoughts. Ruby got some praise this week. I see, I can’t exactly say what I see imagery wise with this one, but I think that sort of actually says a lot. Once you read it you might get what I mean.
Steven: Flow | Ramblings of a Drabbling Mind. Ha, not creepy unless you do “at your own peril”. Muahahahaha.
Melissa: Come Out Of Your Shell | The Aran Artisan. Okay, the um header is new. No but heads about it. I just want to know how they turned into those things, one blonde, one brunette. Awesome but kind of creeps me out thinking about it. Ireland has lots of ‘splainin’ to do. Melissa writes about something her families has to do for the winter and it’s something you just don’t think about nor do you consider the thought you must put into it, the planning. Very interesting. @thearanartisan
Alka: Ebb and Flow of Poetic Challenges | Magnanimous Words. SIX Haiku in this one? Wow. 😀 And I loved her self portrait at the end. 😀 @girally
Marje: Spookapaloosa | Kyrosmagica. Why? Because she wrote 5 spooky haiku, that’s why. Another Wow! @Marjorie_Mallon
Florence: A Rotten Time | Meanings And Musings. Yes, I said it and I mean it. Rotten! And a rare occurrence, a second one. Non-Fiction. She went all emotional and stuff with this one. Making up for the previous one I think. But I have to give her props for the first one, she didn’t to typical route that many could have. @FTThum
Juliette: Pheromonial Dance | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. Yeah baby! I think I just channeled Austin Powers. o,O @BWseeingBL
E. Rawls (Author): Erosion & Man Eaters | Rawls E. Fantasy. Very interesting. That first one was so excellent and then the second with the two nature creatures. Awesome. Check out Bleeding Hearts, a collection of short stories, poems, and riddles, at Elizabeth’s Author page on Amazon by clicking the Author link above. @VChronicles_
Mine (Ronovan): Tide to Love | Ronovan Writes. Some say it’s about people but oddly it is also about nature and what tides bring in and take out of the lives of those dependent upon it.
Ronovan is an author, and blogger who shares his life as an amnesiac and Chronic Pain sufferer though his blog RonovanWrites.WordPress.com. Toward peace, tranquility, life

I reckon I can find a way
A way to say it
But don’t betray it
Cause I don’t know if my heart can take it
Playing with a somber tempo
Baby I used to solo
Not sure about this
But I’ll give it all I’ve got to . . . know
Why am I so jaded
Has my love line faded
Do you know what I’m hopin’
Keep the windows open
Shine those rays over
Taking me slower
To the extreme
Kisses are splendid
Broken dreams are mended
Our senses are blended
When we are of one
My walls are forming
Memories are storming
Time for performing
Why do I turn and run
My knees are bruising
So sore from overusing
Tumbling from confusing
Please give me something to hold on . . . to
Slippin’ on pages
Filled with rages
Somehow never engages
Now fighting for someone
Tell me your staying
No more delaying
Baby I’m praying
For you the one
Why am I so jaded
Has my love line faded
Do you know what I’m hopin’
Keep those windows open
Shine those rays over
Taking me slower
To the extreme
for the someone

Another week, another challenge, another group of 47 great people making all of this work, and I didn’t go searching for lost and errant poets this time. Both WordPress and Blogger blogs are represented.
I’ve had people recently tell me how much all of you communicate with each other and engage each other. People wonder how “I” created such a great THING here where people show up and participate. I always say I have nothing to do with it except coming up with two words a week and an example. I’m not sure how it’s grown like this, well I do, you guys have done it. Thank you for what you do to make this the success it is.
Okay, enough of the mushy stuff, let’s get on with the awful poetry this week. 😉 Ahhh, sarcasm, it suits me so well.
Closing Haiku
Sometimes those Honeymoon nights can be a bummer. 🙂 Not that I PERSONALLY would know that. Nope, not moi.
NEW! D.B. Mauldin (Author): Appetites for Consumption | mama bear musings. I sometimes don’t know where I come up with the titles but I just go with it. There are actually two Haiku and they are linked in meaning. “I am a professional and published writer. I write articles, short stories, and I am currently working on my first novel. I have had four short story’s published, in a variety of anthologies, during 2015.” Yes, author. 🙂 Check out the Author link for offerings on Amazon and click HERE for the About page links to other online distribution such as Smashwords. @dmauldin3
ReNew! Marcy Erb: To Catch a Criminal | Illustrated Poetry. Yes, I said ‘ReNew’. Why? It’s been sometime since Marcy has had time to join in and I felt a need or a want to reintroduce her. Such a unique and amazing Haiku. One of my MUST READS this week. Her explanation of how it came about is a lesson in itself. My IQ may be quite high but this one made the brain pain a bit. AWESOME! About Marcy? That’s a bit difficult. Super nerd turned poetry nerd? I mean the lady did her About page in poetic form. Don’t believe me? Check it out HERE. @ML_Erb
Judy: Make it Hot in Here | Edwina’s Episodes. You know. I wonder about her episodes sometimes. I have them too. When I miss my medications. Well, she sort of SAID she was going in one direction instead of her original intent, but I think she most likely ended up there anyway. It’s Judy. Come on. You just know she has to get a little. well Judy with it. @EdwinasEpisodes
Al: Cheap Cookin’ | Al the Author’s Blog. Okay, so the title is mine. I can’t help but think of how I boil eggs when I read this one. But it is very possible Al meant this to be about a relationship. He can like what he wants, and I will like what I want. Don’t judge me! @AlistairLane
Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): Screamin’ Hot | Annette Rochelle Aben. Um, it’s not what you think, honestly. A theme is going here. Not sure how long it will last but it’s there. Check out Annette’s books at the Author link above and her Radio Show at the Host link. @YouAreTheExpert
Colette: Flagging | The Wishing Well. I have to say I really like how the words were used here. Also some less often used words as well. Cool.
Mira: Make certain to visit all three. start over…| They, You and Me. ooooo. Not sure what else to say but…ooooooooo. embers | To Wear a Rainbow. Bit of a historical piece I envision…outvision…um this one makes me think of. summer affair | They, You and Me. Hmm. Could be people, could be animals, or could be people being animals. I’m not sure. 🙂 @BediMona
Clarence: Lovers Latte | PrairieChat. Yeah, um, Clarence is starting a commotion on his blog this week. And he blamed me for it!
TJ Paris: It’s too darned hot! | La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. (Is that a mouthful of blog name or what?) Oh no! An Aussie picture this week? Has he been hacked? Replaced? Unwell? A piece of cod? The Shell you Say! Yeah, I have lost it early this week. Clarence made me do it. Sorry TJ. @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Kat: Venom | Like Mercury Colliding. My son “B” would be proud she got this one right. He’s been correcting people since he was 4 about venom and poison and what is what. If the name isn’t a trigger warning for some of you, well I…good luck. 🙂
Alice: Hot starts | Boomerang Zone. 5 syllables in one word? Awesomelynessness. No that wasn’t the word. And no, again, not want some of you are thinking it’s about. I am impressed with the thinkings this week. @Vidocq_CC
Olga: Toasted! | Stuff and what if …. Where do I come up with these titles? From the Haiku of course. You’ll get it and then want it!!!
Shailzaa: The Change? | Fewunsaidwords. Hmm. I think this one might need to be investigated. o,O
Greg: Storms Coming: Potholes in The Road of Life. Know the feeling here. Sometimes it gets a touch hotter right before. @greg_wolford
Ritu: Autumn Desire | But I Smile Anyway… That’s two Haiku, just so you know. Holy Hannah and her sisters. I need to turn the air on in here. I think one name would have actually fit both. O,O @PhantomGiggler
Amy: Seasoned Changes | Haiku of a Homeschooler. Three this week and all fall into the category of that title, or at least could when one puts ones mind to it. And this one put his half to it. @me_the_seeker
Janice: Hot Summer Ni…urrr, Autumn…What is it anyway?!?! | Ontheland. Yeah, the title actually fits better than you might think. Those of us here in the North American region might all be wondering about this. @ontheland1
Claudette: Life Cycle of an Arguement | to search and to find. Very nice. And very true. I know of people in this right now and it does not end well.
Sandra: Yellow | Wild Daffodil. She’s a combiner and this week I don’t just mean all the challenges she puts into one. She makes an Empty promise for next week. Muahahahaha.
Jane Dougherty (Author): Life of a Flower | Jane Dougherty Writes. Jane says her three Haiku don’t have a common thing, but I say they do, if you want them to. That third one is the one you have to think about using imagery and metaphors. I think the title works. Check out Jane’s books on Amazon at the Author link above. @MJDougherty33
Meredith & Martha: Preparation & Nuisance as well as Hot Tamales & Create | Meredith’s Musings. Entertaining, humorous and very nice to look at Haiku this week. Martha went a little on the humor side with one and Meredith sort of went with the home feel to hers. Very nice. @Meredithlbl
Melissa Barker-Simpson (Author): Helios Power | M Barker-Simpson. Mel read my mind. As I was preparing my previous weeks Haiku I was wanting to use the Heliotrope because of its color but could not fight through the migraines to make it quite the way I wanted it. Now here we are. Awesome. Click the Author link above to visit her on Amazon.
Shida: Blaze Up The Fire | 876LoveR. And of course off I go for YouTube adventuring. Like Protoje’s voice, natural. But with and Chronixx…well, who knows, right? @realrebel_r
Nato: Heated Journey | Chasing Life and Finding Dreams. 7 Haiku in a story. It’s not quite what you think it might be. Very nice too. If you have not read this one…Fool You Must Be!!! If I were still picking Ronovan’s Choices…. @MichelleLunato
Jen (JK): Energy Surge & Pinged Off | the secret keeper. Mindfulness with a Hot Pocket? Wow. The places we go with two words. @occultguardian
Elusive Trope or ET for short?: Upon the Anvil | Elusive Trope. Perhaps I should not have made the ET reference? Hadn’t seen the title of the Haiku before I said that. Oh boy, now to see what ET put upon the anvil. My head perhaps? Hmm, I think I am safe. Or so I am interpreting it as my being safe. Gotta love readers prerogative. 🙂 Wow, reading the comments and the big words used, I feel sooo inadequate now. 😀 (No idea why the use of all the smileys.)
Sue Vincent (Author): Anticipation | Daily Echo. Oh she is going to hate it, but AWESOME! She knows what happens when she includes her lovely other half, Ani. Muahahaha. Click the Author link for Sue at Amazon and her many books. @SCVincent
Melissa?: Preparation | The Aran Artisan. This person seems somewhat familiar. Hmmm. 😛 About time she got herself back here. Just read a book she MUST READ. Mentions hats common in Aran, also set in Galway. An American woman who goes to Ireland and falls for an Irishman. I instantly thought of our Aran Island Girl except it happened in reversed and he kidnapped her back to his homeland. Great pictures as usual, and a look into what it takes to live the life she does. So happy she is back here…home. @thearanartisan
Elizabeth: Magical Day | Tea & Paper. I read this one earlier in the week but just now realized the opposites in both it and the photo. Very cool. @teandpaper
Pat B.: Hot Walker | A season and a time. Um again, one of those titles I come up with that make you go hmmm. Did you know that Pat’s blog is on Blogger? That’s right, this isn’t just a WordPress community. 🙂
R. Todd: At the Green… | A Flash of Fiction. Blown could be a good title as well. Great photo for this one. 🙂 @psibrone
Maylian: Hot summer night | personalselfperfection. An interesting Haiku that the title didn’t give away the meaning. You have to read it or you will make the wrong assumption. The image and Haiku obviously go together.
Marje: Hot Rave Drug Murder and Tsunami of Tears | Kyrosmagica. These are not our usually humor Haiku from Marje this week. So I gave her a hard time this week and almost stumped her? And I wasn’t even trying. I’ve thought about seeing if I could come up with difficult words, but then I would have to use them as well…at least twice. @Marjorie_Mallon
Ruby: Blush of flames | Whispering Thoughts. Two meanings in one. Or one throughout. You decide. Nature or man? It’s up to you. Well done.
Vashti Quiroz-Vega (Author): Night Terrors | The Writer Next Door. One word and this would have a totally different meaning. Check out Vashti on Amazon at the Author link above and you can see her interview by clicking HERE. @VashtiQV
Colleen: Day Break | Silver Threading. She used the word cherry in a most unique way. Awesome! You know, as Colleen makes a location change I can’t help feel a little sad because of her inspiration for her book was found where she is leaving from. But perhaps she will find some of their cousins where she ends up. @SilverThreading
denis1950: Hot Start | Haiku Hound. 3 Haiku in the 3/5/3 style. You may see this around quite often in the challenge. The 3/5/3 makes it even more challenging. Try it if you like. So a Serious, a Nature, and a Humor. 🙂 I think the nature one qualifies as Humor as well. Hate to say it but it reminds me of ladies at a hair salon. 🙂 Not sure why. I know I will pay for that one when some read this. Great images, the first is a wow, the third is very cool, and the middle is the hair salon.
Carol: September | Mama Cormier. I would almost title this False Impressions if I were Carol. 🙂 But I feel this one. Getting the same thing here. @Carol_Cormier
vronlacroix: Hot air balloon | Simply Snapshots. I really like this one. The image, the Haiku, the word used in place of start, it all works so well. Original in idea. Very nice.
Steven: Shifts | Ramblings of a Drabbling Mind. Can you count how many Haiku are in this one? He gives you a way to see it. 🙂
Becky G: Becky G? Oh, That’s Me! I love the contrast here in the image. And we have a Nature Haiku.
E. Rawls (Author): Race Track/To Win | Rawls E. Fantasy. I like that second one a lot. Check out Bleeding Hearts, a collection of short stories, poems, and riddles, at Elizabeth’s Author page on Amazon by clicking the Author link above. @VChronicles_
stu06bloc9: Startling | Pitter Patter Poetry. HA! You so think stu went a weird route with the prompt word then suckers you in at the end. Muahahahaha! Classic.
Juliette: Seasons Change | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. Her description of her Haiku is accurate. Straight to the point. Perhaps she is losing her inner being touch? Poor thing. Lost her gift of gab. 😛 @BWseeingBL
Florence: Sign | Meanings and Musings. Wonder if she is trying to say something here? @FTThum
Ronovan: Heat | Ronovan Writes. In addition to the two Opening Haiku and the closing I actually did a separate post for another. The image could be misleading, take the meaning of the words as you like. @RonovanWrites

Passion? Nature? Life? Love? What is it about? Is the image coloring your impression?

Week 61 was for the words Wine & Tears. I came up with the prompt words from a spur of the moment thought I had in a melancholy mood and I shared it on Twitter. I liked the way the words turned out after reading them the next day and they became the starting point for the example or opening Haiku of the Challenge. Laughter can do miracles. It’s my go-to for any situation and usually works to get people I know into a better frame of mind and realize all is not lost or hopeless or as bad as they think.
The Closing Haiku
With a wine red nose,
The clown made the people laugh,
While tears flowed inside.
Click Here for the Image version I created today and posted earlier.
Everyone, please try to visit all the poets you can for a show of support. Also share this Review in whatever way you can in order for all to get as much Social Media coverage as possible and perhaps be visited by someone new.
If you have been keeping up with the links in the Challenge comments in order, after you check out the new this week section, why not try working your way up from the bottom. That way you may visit people you’ve never met before.
New to the Challenge this Week:
NEW! Shelly Faber: No Rest For Me | My Red Wine Diary. Yes, that’s the name of her blog. Is that like so appropriate? “I look forward to sharing this precious practice. My stories, poetry, and thoughts relate to experiences I have learned from, and feel privileged, to be a part of, in my personal, and, professional life.” That is from her About page, but what did it say her career profession was? Click here to find out. Very interesting. Seriously. @ShellyFaber
NEW! Alice: Fade the Pain | Boomerang Zone. So the Haiku title is mine, and it is a take on the words she used in the Haiku. Funny. I did a take on her words when she did a take on my prompt words. Okay, maybe not that funny, but loved how this was put together. Great words. I like it when different words are used in great ways. By different I mean not the usual everyday words. Alice has been here before, but it has been a while and it was not quite as formally done as this, so it’s an offical welcome time here. “I am a Dutch non-practicing lawyer/human rights defender. I work on unsolved homicides, wrongful convictions, and assist other human rights defenders and attorneys when requested. This is my personal blog.” Notice she said that it’s her personal blog. Seriously check out the rest of this about page entry for her other blog and why it was named one of the Top 100 Blawgs by a certain American Association. I kid you not. Click here to check out the About. @Vidocq_CC
NEW! Colette B. Wine along | The Wishing Well. Ha, a play on words AND RHYMES! “‘The Wishing Well’ (previously Bedressed, then Bubblicious) has come a long way during August’s Blogging101 course and I’ve enjoyed the journey. There’s still a long way to go, but now we’re travelling in a well-equipped jeep rather than a saddle-packed donkey. As with any vehicle, there’s re-fuelling needs, maintenance checks / tasks and undergoing some hopeful improvements and further learning progression.” And that’s just the beginning of her About page?
First to Arrive This Week:
Faith Unlocked: Come Taste the New Wine | Faith Unlocked. If there had been any other type of message in this Haiku I would have been surprised. I was only waiting to see how it was done. And there was no disappointment. And 32 other people agreed with me. @FaithUnlocked
TJ Paris: Early but Too Late | La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. Yeah, I know, the blog title is a mouthful, but if you think we have a hard time saying it, try it with a mouth of Early 21st Century Cake. As for the title? I came up with that from not only the Haiku but the description of the photo used. As always you know we’re going to get something creative from this entry. Entry #2 In Vino Veritas. Looks like TJ has begun Writing 101 through Blogging U. Will be interesting to see what he comes up with. @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Annette Rochelle Aben (Best Selling Author, Radio Show Host): Fond Memories | Annette Rochelle Aben. That’s my title for her Haiku and I’m sticking with it. I just hope PETA doesn’t get hold of this one. Annette will have some ‘splainin’ to do. Click the Author link for Annettes books on Amazon and the Radio Show Host link for just ONE of her shows. @YouAreTheExpert
Judy: Bad Blood | Edwina’s Episodes. The title I gave this week is implied somewhat by the Haiku. I get a sense of initial conniving followed by realization. As I pondered a title friendship came to mind and the colors in the image used, and a take on the prompt words and that led me to Taylor Swift’s song Bad Blood. There is a story behind the song about friendship. @EdwinasEpisodes
Carol: Affair to Forget | Mama Cormier. Two Haiku that one reader noted was an affair in two Haiku. Thus I decided on the title. For me it would have been Moutain Dew cola at Taco Bell instead of the setting in the image she used. 🙂 @Carol_Cormier
Mira: let go | They, You, and Me. Nice. Romantic, sexy, sad, all rolled into one. Entry #2 love story… | To Wear a Rainbow. This one is actually two. @BediMona
Olga: Do Not Enter | Stuff and what if… The title is more of a take not so much on our not allowed in but what else is not able to.
Jane Dougherty (Author): Wine Glasses, Tossed and What Not | Jane Dougherty Writes. Three Haiku. I had a good theme going for a title but one of these was not like the other. But I tossed the title together anyway. Check out Jane’s books on Amazon at the Author link above. @MJDougherty33
Ritu: Dutty Wine Glass | But I Smile Anyway. Well, I learned a new song today. Now I am trying to picture Ritu in the one of the Haiku she wrote. If I tried that I would so not be able to move ever again. (still picturing…) @PhantomGiggler
Kat: Buzzin’ | Like Mercury Colliding… So with a prompt like tears and wine do you really need an explanation of my title for this Haiku?
Alka: To drown in Wine and Poetry | Magnanimous Words. That title would make a great blog title . . . and I didn’t come up with it. 🙂 All Alka. Now who in the world would think of creating an image like that is beyond me, but it worked. I didn’t know they drank. But now I do. @girally
Sue Vincent (Author): Rosé | Daily Echo. Have to say, this lady has a following. People loved this Haiku. Very nice use of the prompt words. Very poetic, as it should be. Nice. Click the Author link for Sue at Amazon and her many books. @SCVincent
Janice: Heart Torn | Ontheland. I think this one does a great job of playing with the words. This could be about romance broken, love lost, or a musician’s life. @ontheland1
Jen: Twisted Vine | The Secret Keeper. Very nice. Bit of mythology with a two meaning Haiku structure. The painting shared goes well with the Haiku created, and fits the prompt words perfectly. @occultguardian
Steven: Vineyard | Ramblings of a Drabbling Mind. Quite poetic with the words this week. I know poetic in a Poetry Challenge should be a duh thing but sometimes the offerings are very poetic. I would explain it but the more I read it the more the words begin to jumble. 🙂
Clarence: Taste of Wine | Prairie Chat. Clarence has been letting his inner romantic out lately. He doesn’t disappoint this week.
Sandra: View | Wild Daffodil. Combining the two challenges she likes to do, this one and Bluedaisyz Weekly photo challenge, we get a amazing photo that goes perfectly with the Haiku. I just hope they made it back okay. Nice to see where you’ve been as long as you can still make it to where you’re going. 🙂
Denis1950: Sunset Over Wine | Haiku Hound. Okay, the two Haiku are great. But when you put your photos of those sunsets of over the bay with those boats masts silhouetted…WOW. Great combinations all around.
Al: Full Seasoned | All the Author’s Blog. Well, he says the prompts spoke to him, and I believe him. 7 Haiku, 4 Titles, 1 narrative. Yeah, they spoke to him. @AlistairLane
Amy: Recovery | Haiku of a Homeschooler. I enjoy those Haiku that have a deep personal meaning. When the author shares that meaning and allows you to enter into that world of emotion with them, it is something special. This is one of those. The title is mine, but the Haiku gave it to me. @me_the_seeker
Meredith & Martha: Wine brings forth the truth | Meredith’s Musings. As you know, if you are a regular, we have four Haiku this week from our Angels. The one title is mine to somewhat sum up the feel I get from what they shared. First there are Frivolity & Lachrymose from Meredith and then Red, Red, Wine & Obloquy from Martha. You know, when you need a dictionary to read the Haiku you know you are in over your head. 🙂 The ladies went all out this week. @Meredithlbl
R Todd: Watercolor Ponies | A Flash of Fiction. This is the day for videos inspire or Haiku inspire video selections. A very sad Haiku. I may be dropping into a depression bout now. Read on at your own risk, unless I take a break. @psibrone
Shida: Another Option | 876Lover. I think this may be what they call Jamaican Rules. Not sure why but I want to say her blog theme or layout has changed since she first joined us. I’ve seen it like this before but I like the color and all. @realrebel_r
Becky: Peace Like Wine | Becky G? Oh, That’s Me. Nice twist here. I like those peaceful inspiring Haiku, especially when doing the review. (And now while doing it and my boy “B” ‘playing’ his trumpet he just got on Friday.)
Elizabeth: the solution | Tea And Paper. Ah, nice. Makes me wonder if it would make it worse. 🙂 And I wonder that because of some of the other Haiku I’ve read, but it seems like most of them would agree with Elizabeth. @Teandpaper
Geoff Le Pard (Author): The Problem Solver | TanGental. At first you think, “Oh no, he got it wrong.” Then you are like he suckered us. But he’s an author, so what do you expect. Click the Author link to go to Amazon. @geofflepard
Nato: Tears Flow Like a Dry Wine | Chasing Life and Finding Dreams. Obviously well done, but the message. Sad. @MichelleLunato
Pat B: Satin Like Wine | A season and a time. Sounds like minutes after the prom or home coming dance. 🙂
VronLacroix: Sadness | Simply Snapshots. ooooo, very nice use of wine here. Excellent. I like it.
Greg: Pouring Out | Potholes in the Road of Lfe. I wonder how many people will get the meaning of this one. 🙂 @greg_wolford
Maylian: For Tears and Wine | Personal Self Perfection. Two Haiku this week. You know, I’m not sure why people are talking so much about wine causing or curing tears in their Haiku this week so much. 🙂
Serins: Turn With the Wind | Serins Sphere. Poetic. (If you haven’t picked up on it by now, that’s a big compliment from me.) Very good use of the prompts and phrasing. Very image inducing. @SerinsSphere
Shailzaa: The Plunge | Fewunsaidwords. You know, if you think about it, after this is over with, The Plunger might end up being appropriate. 🙂 Oh I slay me sometimes. And you people thought I had lost my sense of humor this week. Hrmph.
Vashti Quiroz-Vega (Author): Happy Tears | The Writer Next Door. Nice story behind this one. 🙂 She even managed to plug her debut novel The Basement. Check it out on Amazon by clicking the Author link above. @VashtiQV
Colleen: Sutter Home | Silver Threading. You know, I wonder what the yesterday is referring to here. Could be wine or tears. Very well done. Check out Colleen as part of the LitWorldInterviews team by clicking here to see her book reviews. @ColleenChesebro
Ruby: Unsated, we burn | Whispering Thoughts. Nice. Wow. You guys have to go read this one for sure and see the art.
Florence: Woman as Wine | Meanings and Musings. Well, Florence is afraid people will think she is a drinker, when she’s not. She can’t touch the stuff really. But this Haiku seemed to me more about woman than wine. At least that’s how I read it. Check out Colleen as part of the LitWorldInterviews team by clicking here to see her book reviews. @FTThum
E. Rawls (Author): Singing Dwarf & Crucified | Rawls E. Fantasy. Two for the return of the one called E. or Rawls. or maybe Rawls E. Hmm Rawlsy. Rowdy Rawlsy. Stop me now…please. Seriously. Okay. I’m good now. Check out Bleeding Hearts, a collection of short stories, poems, and riddles, at Elizabeth’s Author page on Amazon by clicking the Author link above. @VChronicles_
Juliette: More Vino Please | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. Two Haiku this week. She said her first one isn’t a proper Haiku, but I don’t see anything wrong with it. I think she tells a story of many lives in our Challenge without even knowing it. She would be surprised. @BWseeingBL
Marje: Lost and Alone Tears & Tears of Sweetest Joy | Kyrosmagica. Stories to go with Haiku, love those. The last one is very interesting. I read this earlier but for some reason it didn’t make it on my review at first. No idea why. Brain fade I guess. Sorry Marje! @Marjorie_Mallon
stu06bloc9: Drops Holy | Pitter Patter Poetry. A deep entry this week. Not only as far as placement but in meaning. I think people will take away several thoughts about this one.
And the closing Video. You didn’t think I could do these prompt words and not use this video did you?
Much Respect-Much Love

Hello Everyone,
This week the suggested focus was to make two complete sentences out of the three lines of Haiku with the second line being the end of the first sentence and the beginning of the second sentence. It wasn’t a must, just a suggestion for those interested in moving toward or testing their ability at the traditional form of Haiku.
The closing Haiku.
To be read as:
The man’s bridges fell out of his dark lusting maw.
Out of his dark lusting maw, Ron’s tongue wagged, the dog.
Now on to the Poets all of you need to begin to Follow, appearing below in the order they submitted their links. Well except the New Members appear first. I know I haven’t done that for a few weeks because of the laptop being dead and time but here I am back to it again.
NEW! Cathy Lynn Brooks (Author): Cathy is working on a work of love, a book about…well click here to find out what it’s about. As for the Haiku… A Move to Understanding | Cathy Lynn Brooks. The page about her book and the Haiku explain its meaning. @cathy_brooks
NEW! Gerard Young also known as dun dun dun SilverBulletHead!!!: A student in Ireland, gamer and writer. The Haiku will tell you that first part, sort of. Ah, the hopes of the higher educated (you get that from his About page, yes I read those.). I remember those days. Oh wait…no I don’t. I have amnesia. (No seriously, I do…I think.) Bored Genius | This Is CruserBladezz. @silvabullethead I am wondering with a handle such as Silver Bullet Head if he would be great to have along in case of werewolves? Totally ignore everything I say from this point on. I took double medications and am really far out there at the moment. No werewolves were harmed in the making of this Haiku Review.
NEW! Steven O. Young Jr.: River Rouge | Rambings of a Drabbling Mind 100 Words at a time. Hoping this guy stays around. Some experimental poetry here and I like it. As for the Haiku, wow, another one of a them you will find running through the Review here. Man, this one is insane. And if you are into basketball, check out his other blog Above the Cylinder by clicking here.
NEW! Ruby Manchanda.: Bridges unite | Whispering Thoughts. We have an artistic one joining us with a good message. Definitely go and visit as this was our last entry of the week and thus not many have seen it yet. So go, like, share, praise. You know, do the be you thing y’all do so well.
NEW! Kat Myrman: Love Gots To Do It | like mercury colliding. Well if love has to do it then you know what it has to do, right? About Kat: This place is an indulgence. A place to ruminate and simmer thoughts, reflections and perceptions while also sharing an occasional fabulous recipe to die for, peppered with a bit of photo art…my new found artistic passion.
Juliette: A Year in Haiku | Battered Wife seeking Better Life. One year doing our Haiku Challenge, and the only person to do every single one of them, as far as I can tell. Dedication or OCD, I’m not certain but I say thank you for that continued participation. Here the woman I finally settled on calling Juliette explains how she came to be involved in the challenge. She gives not only this weeks Haiku offering but each weeks as well, with a total of 64 Haiku. If you want to see how someone has grown or regressed in their life over a time span, Haiku can be a great way to do that. Juliette has gone from being the mystery woman of the group to a mainstay veteran who I can always count on being involved. And more often than not when I see a like in the comments next to someone’s link on the Challenge post, she’s the one who has liked it. A true full on participate. @BWseekingBL
Annette Rochelle Aben (Author & Radio Host): The Mackinac | Annette Rochelle Aben. Annette chose to stay with her Michigan theme and give us a bit more history of her home state. The picture below is the subject of her Haiku. That doesn’t mean I am giving away what she says though. Remember to check her out on Amazon for her best selling offerings by clicking Author above. @YouAreTheExpert Click the picture below for the wikipedia site for the Mackinac Bridge.
Judy/Edwina: Working for it | Edwina’s Episodes. First of all, call her Judy or Edwina, both are her names, but Judy seems to be the one commonly used in her comment section by those who chat with her, although she notes that she kind of has become fond of being called Edwina. That image she used sets off everything nicely. You may need to click the image to get a good read of the Haiku. For me that makes it even better though. @Edwinasepisodes
Sue Vincent (Author): Bridge | Daily Echo. Very nature oriented Haiku. Like it. Love the contrasting colors in the photo used. Sue is one of our authors with several books available. Visit the Author link above to go to her Amazon Author Page. @SCVincent
TJ Paris: Star Crossed Lovers | La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin. A Western Australia with a French Fetish. Very nicely done with the two sentences and opposing meanings. A touch of romance. But with a blog focused on France, especially Paris, how could he not? @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Mira: overwrought | They, You And Me. Feeling anguish here, longing. Two sentence structure as was suggested to focus on. I always get that sense of wanting to give Mira a big hug when I read her Haiku. fears | To Wear A Rainbow. I would swear she can read minds at times. @BediMona
Melissa Barker-Simpson (Author): Brothers in Arms | M Barker-Simpson. Call her Mel. At least that’s what she signs everything as. Not only does she have a blog but an author site as well. She’s everywhere. Now to the Haiku. I had named this one The Journey until I noticed the name in the link. I liked her explaining how she arrives at her Haiku and it makes you begin to anticipate what she’s working on. Sneaky, right? A lot of feeling here. I like it. No Twitter as far as I have found. Shame as I would like to share there. Click the Author link above to visit her on Amazon.
Me: I don’t normally put myself in here but seeing as I actually did one outside of the example this week, and I linked to the challenge, here I am. No Bridge Too Far | Ronovan Writes. You might think I would have been the first entry, but I thought that a bit unfair of an advantage. The Haiku can mean positive and negative things but moving toward the same end. I chose the positive with this offering. You can also find me at LitWorldInterviews a site I founded where I do author interviews, book reviews, and feature articles. It’s a team effort now with authors, lawyers, professors and your lover of literature giving their time to help authors. The link will take you to my specific offerings. @RonovanWrites
Al: Key to Moving | Al The Author’s Blog. Two offerings from Al this week. Got the structure in both. That first one I really like for a peaceful moment. The second? Well…That’s Al for you. @AlistairLane
Ritu: Oh those gaps. | But I Smile Anyway. Obviously a nice message. The image used is interesting and something I would like to try. Takes a lot of skill and patience. @PhantomGiggler
Becky: Nature’s Bridge | Becky G? Oh, That’s Me! Can you guess what the Haiku is about from the title? When I chose it I thought it easy, but then I kept coming up with different things it could mean. I think I think Haiku to much. 🙂
Clarence: Lovers Schemes | Prairie Chat. Uh oh. Clarence is keeping with the romance here. Tapping into the Romeo side…and the people are liking it. You go Man!
R. Todd: The Bridge | A Flash of Fiction. Ah, nice one. Had not thought of this idea yet. Cool. @psibrone
Pat B.: Arches over Oregon | A season and a time. Seems a couple of people had similar ideas this week. And I must say I do love the subjects, they are fascinating pieces of art to me when done properly. This can read as one sentence or as two.
Maylian: Sensory | Personal Self Perfection. Maylian returns for a second week!!! YAY!!! Two Haiku this week from Maylian. Very much nature with some humanness thrown in. (Is it just me or does humanness “funny? Okay, and no wisecracks about how funny humans look.) Definitely go visit the blog. I love the look of it; the layout and color scheme. Very nice.
Sandra or “Daffy” as one reader called her. Whichever, the WILD ONE IS BACK! Peace | Wild Daffodil the joy of creativity. This is a MUST SEE post. So much included in this one and for very good reasons. Definitely stop by and like it.
JK: Move Silently | The Secret Keeper. Whoa. Seriously serious thoughts there. And an appropriate image for said or suggested serious thought. @occultguardian
Olga: Wait | Stuff and what if… Like the message and the image is kind of spooky in a way but also leaves a mystery to it. Nice.
Janice: Bridge | Ontheland. Two meanings for the Haiku, as Janice explains in her post. And it is a post of encouragement and inspiration. Well here we are again, well so I am anyway. This is actually much later in the order of entries and the second for Janice. Bridge of Change. This just goes to show how the Haiku challenge sticks with you no matter what you try to do. 🙂 @ontheland1
Denis: Survivor | Haiku Hound. Carrying on a theme, yes, I know the Haiku has a prompt and thus a theme or sorts…but hang with me here for a moment. Denis gives us a lesson about a little place just outside of Hobart Tasmania Australia. Like I’ve said before, love these types of pieces. The Haiku says a lot about the subject.
The Elusive One: Bolero | Elusive Trope. Yes, the Elusive one’s name is in the blog, but I’ll stick with Elusive for now. All I can say is I believe there was some freaking out at the prompt words, and I swear I had no idea.
Elizabeth: Madness | Tea&Paper. Ah yes, this one actually struck a chord with me when I read it earlier in the week. I’ve had to think about this often. @Teandpaper
Meredith & Martha: Four From the Angels | Meredith’s Musings. No, that’s not really a title, but they do two apiece each week. The Bridge & Beloved Pet by Martha, and then Family Feud & Progress from Meredith. Great images. I really love them AND Beach Babes with Nick!!! Also, these ladies are facebook friends of mine and I will tell you Meredith is looking great. Visit her twitter and see either a very strange looking Beach Babe baked potato or seaweed loved coconut, I’m not sure which. @MeredithLBL
vronlacroix: Fragile | Simply Snapshots. She’s back for a second week in a row! Love it when new people come back for more AND when I see the comments on their Haiku. Awesome! Fragile is a deep one. I mean philosophically deep. Some said powerful.
Stu06Bloc9: Paired | Pitter Patter Poetry. Whoa. So there are two Haiku. Take your time and read them through. I’m still rereading as…well not AS I type this, but you know what I mean.
Marjorie Mallon (Why did I put the whole name this week? Cause it just sounds cool saying! Well…at least how I say it.): A Sweet Bridge Too Far & We’re Finished Lover |Kyrosmagica. She’s back in her groove people! I tell you this was an entertaining read from beginning to end. And if you are into Scotland and all, go check out her Edinburgh posts while she visited the Book Festival. AMAZING photos!!! @Marjorie_Mallon
Prakash: Move on Big River | Its PH. Yes, that’s my name for the Haiku, and if you have been reading all of this review this is just after I did the NEW! entry of Gerard, so you know I am a bit insane at the moment. But this one is both deep and funny at the same time depending on how you take it. I’m of two minds about it. Muahahahaha. Stop that Ron! What? Huh? (I just had a conversation with myself. O,o) @itsPhTweet
Jane Dougherty (Author): Three from Lady Jane | Jane Dougherty Writes. I couldn’t really come up with one suitable name that encompassed the three, but then it struck me what better name than the name above? You all know that Jane writes beautiful poetry, and won’t enter until it’s just right. She took her time this week, for certain, and I love the painting. Always a class act. A great part of our Haiku family. And I’m not saying that because I reviewed one of her books, or because I interviewed her on my book review/interview site. Click the Author link for numerous books by her on Amazon. @MJDougherty33
Alka: Games of Chance | Magnanimous Words. She just blew my mind!!! I was not expecting this at all. The idea of using the prompts this way absolutely did not come to mind. Now that I have hyped it up so much, please go and peruse for your own enjoyment and laugh at my excitement. @girally
Colleen: A Hushed Moment | Silver Threading. You know, I’ve seen her blog so many times and I know the meaning but with her being part of my team on LWI, it occurred to me it could mean Silverth Reading. 🙂 Now the Haiku was amazing. Romance! @SilverThreading
Vashti Quiroz-Vega (Author): Star Trek | The Writer Next Door. Okay, another one that took me by surprise, but I have no idea why considering it’s from Vashti. Nothing should surprise me from her. Check out Vashti on Amazon at the Author link above and you can see her interview by clicking here. @VashtiQV
Florence: My Lullaby | Meanings and Musings. Peaceful, serene, and just right. I may not have any idea what it means, but it works for me. 🙂 As well as being a blogger, college professor, lawyer, and therapist she is also part of the LWI team. By the way, LWI stands for LitWorldInterviews, the book and author site I founded and take credit for the work of others. @FTThum
Steven S. Walsky (Author): Life is a Road | Simplicity Lane. A Tanka, meaning three normal lines of Haiku plus two additional lines of 7 syllables each using the third line as the link. A very thoughtful Tanka. I always expect humor when I vent Steven and have ended up with thought provoking of late. Click the Author link above to go to Steven’s blog where you will find all the available places for each book. He’s varied. 🙂
Swatiu: To Great a Distance | imgrowing. Romantic, and sad at the same time. Nice. (You ever wonder why a guy that deals with depression all the time holds a poetry challenge every week? Glutton perhaps?)
Shailzaa: Comfort Zone | Fewunsaidwords. Okay, first of all, I just realized what the blog name says. o,O I plead the concussion excuse. Wow. I am so red. Wait, I always red, well pink actually. I may have actually understood it bfore but don’t remember. 🙂 Gotta use my out when I can. Anyway. I named the Haiku Comfort Zone from my take on the meaning of the message written. A very thinky piece, as I like to call them. It makes you sit and ponder a few moments or dozen before the pain begins between the eyes at how you can’t write like that yourself. O,o
Khor Hui Min: Utopia | Project Prose. A very topical message pulled from today’s headlines all over the world. @MinKhor
Greg: The Bridge | Potholes in the Road of Life. Got the message, both of them. The first was the Greg must have goofed his link back to the Challenge I missed it, and the second is the message of the Haiku. But then I goofed by not catching a mainstay of the Challenge not being present. @greg_wolford
If you aren’t appearing here and did participate, please let me know. I went hunting for a few usual suspects but didn’t see a Haiku on those sites.
Also, if you have a Twitter handle that does not appear above, let me know.

Thinking of the prompt words for my Haiku Challenge this week, I encourage you to join with the great group of poets/bloggers, my evil mind came up with this week I kept thinking of how the word bridge united two worlds. Those worlds could be any two life systems this planet possesses.
I’m staying positive in these thoughts. I’m considering the world of love today. How often have you seen that true love in your life only to say it is impossible or too much trouble to achieve happiness? How often do you say it just wasn’t meant to be, or maybe you don’t deserve it?
For some it could actually be a physical distance. Maybe even other obstacles combined with that distance. Is ultimate love and happiness worth a going the extra miles, giving the extra effort, or perhaps even going through that miles and miles of pain knowing love is waiting at the end?
Is there a bridge too far for you?

Elizabeth: Red and Black in Summer come back. | tea & paper Amazing photo. Simple but something I haven’t seen and I learned. I love that. @Teandpaper

Elke: Red bird | writingindevizes Um, all I can say is you have to go see…I mean read to believe. Enjoy and be entertained. 🙂
NEW! Maylian Leo: Calling Passion & Natures Formation | personalselfperfection I say Maylian Leo even though the link says anonymous because the copyright on the poetry has that name. Definitely kept with the nature aspect of Haiku. Very peaceful offerings. Enjoyed.
Florence: The End | MEANINGS AND MUSINGS Considering the title I almost put this one at the end instead of the order it arrived. Wait until you read it and see who actually wrote it. Chills I tell you. Our poor future. @FTThum

“You’re such a liar.”
“Shut up. You have NO idea what you’re talking about.” I didn’t care if he did or not, but I wasn’t in the mood for anything he had to say right now.
There was only one problem with that. “That empty hole in your chest, the cold-hollow ache in your bones like a cancer…you know what it is.” He just never knows when to shut up and didn’t give a crap about my moods.
“This is none of your business, so for the last time shut it.” If I clenched my teeth any tighter they would break.
“This is just as much mine as yours. I’m just not the coward here who’s afraid to admit the truth.” I hated him. I wasn’t a coward, I just didn’t want to hurt again. I didn’t want the tidal waves to come pounding back in where her love had left from me.
“Ever think about what-ifs?” I didn’t expect or wait for an answer. “I live on them. They are my protein that keep me alive.”
“I know that, Walker. You think that’s news to me? You think I don’t know about your every feeling of dread at every wasted second without her?” If anyone would know it was him.
“I’m tired. This tornado of emotions I live, not knowing when the next moment will be…it hurts.”
“Which hurts worse…pain of never knowing or the pain after the joy of having her for those few brief moments? That is what you need to decide.”
“I already made my decision. Don’t you know that, Mr. Know-Everything? Would I be like this if I hadn’t? Do you think I could live without her…even if having her is for only minutes at a time?” I hated him. Why couldn’t he let me wallow in my self pity?
“I know all of that. I’m here to keep reminding you of it…lest you forget it.” I slammed the notebook shut.
READ ME NOW!
I stared at those words on the cover–words I had been reading for years.
Gripping the notebook in both hands, I tore it in half with only the binding keeping the two pieces together. The small trash can beside the hotel bed rattled and rocked from the fall of the notebook into it.
I didn’t want to read any more.

If you do not see your name below and you did write a Haiku for the challenge, please leave a comment and I will add you to the Review. I may have missed the link in the comments section of the Challenge. I did visit the sites of those who participated last week but may have missed a post. Thank you for your participation.
If you see Roundup in the Title, that means I just couldn’t do comments this week for everyone due to health issues. Review means comments.
Week #54 Haiku Challenge Review of the Words Free & Think.
Be aware all links and images if clicked will open in a new window. Links are in blue and usually underlined. I believe they look cleaner and nicer this way rather than having a URL showing on the page.
Pat B of A season and a time: “Some of my current interests besides my family, church, and family history include the following: browsing thrift shops and antique stores, trying out new recipes as well as coming up with a few of my own, playing the piano, learning about my DNA and my health traits, and doing research on various topics.”~Just a taste of her About Page. The Haiku: The Parent Plunge. My name for her Haiku and one that doesn’t even come close to giving away what the Haiku is about. The photos she used to go along with the Haiku are her own and I have to say WOW. Am I so envious she had this experience.
TJ Paris of La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin: Temple. Very much like his photography. Not sure where it is that he’s not supposed to be in. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t mention it. 🙂 He also has his own type of Haiku Challenge. @Roccoco_a_GoGo
Annette Rochelle Aben: Mind Your Own. That’s my choice for title of the Haiku and I think it fits. Once you read it I think you might too. First, she’s a published author, and you can visit her Amazon Author page here. One of those books has included as one of the 25 Global Voices of Social Media. She has numerous shows through The Magic Happens radio network, there is The Magic Happens Radio, then Tell Me A Story which is a weekly program. That link will take you to my interview with her. Then she has a daily show as well, Perspectivepower. And remember her being a writer for the online magazine The Magic Happens-Humanity Thriving Out Loud. Check out her inclusion in the new just realeased anthology; Indies Unlimited’s 2014 Flash Fiction Anthology here. @YouAreTheExpert
Mira of They, You And Me and To Wear a Rainbow blogs: Only…Love… Nice message to the opinionated. And The cage. Hmm. Interesting. Maybe someone liked the house? @BediMona
Judy of Edwina’s Episodes: Free to be WhatEvEr. Hmm. Sometimes it’s best not to comment. Not that I would say anything bad, but it might come across wrong. Once you read it you’ll see what I mean. @Edwinasepisodes
Sue Vincent from Daily Echo: Free. I think of the title The Lie when I read this one. Looking at the photo with the boundaries in the distance give visuals to the words. Very nice. Sue is one of our resident authors with a LOT of books on Amazon. Click here to check them out. @SCVincent But Check out her NEW BOOK. Available in Paperback and for Kindle.
Hugh Roberts of Hugh’s Views & News: Sauce Junkie. Um, you have to read it to get it. 🙂 And yes, I did come up with the title. Hugh is also a member of the Lit World Interviews team. You may read his contributions by clicking here. @RobertHughes05
Prakash of Its PH: Clenched in Hyberabad. The other title I thought of was Disturbing. Sometimes I worry about where our friend’s mind goes. @itsPhTweet
Al of Al the Author: Three Thoughts of Free. Um, yeah, three Haiku about like you know, thoughts, thinking, and free. Some about like being staged, caged or maybe enraged. Not really sure. @AlistairLane
Clarence Holm of PrairieChat: Fiscal Expediency. Ew. Just ew. 🙂 And a second one that is not Ew at all, Minnesota Morning.
Olga of Stuff and what if…: Miracles. I have several reasons for the title choice. But one is the idea of last two words in that second line. I wonder how often people feel they really can be that. A whole society like that would be a Miracle.
Ruth of Mad Meandering Me: Disappointed. So many interpretations for this one. From the silly to serious.
Eloise of Thoughts by Mell0-Elo: Breaking Boundaries. I think this is somewhat of a Haibun in that there is a short message following it. Short but important. She’s branching out. Prose + Haiku = Haibun. 🙂 Eloise is also one of our Authors. You visit Amazon.com here or Amazon UK here to check out her offerings for both children and adults. @mello_elo
OnTheLand: Our Struggle With Nature. Three for one with a singular message. @ontheland1
Suzanne Miller of Art and Life: Thinking with the heart. Whoa, talk about an informative post. Not just a Haiku here. Read and enjoy.

Nato of Chasing Life and Finding Dreams: Soulmate. A sometimes scary use of the word think. 🙂 Visit Michelle Lunato Photography as well. @MichelleLunato

Meredith & Martha of Meredith’s Musings: Free Thinker and Breakup by Meredith & Freedom and Butterfly by Martha. I think Freedom is really a visual of what Martha is. 🙂 @meredithlbl
AC Elliott of File Cabinet Ramblings: Corporate Objectives. There is a certain freedom in this but then not. Very good opposing ideas in one. Really like the thinking here. @Elliott_ac

Florence of Meanings and Musings: Seek Your Freedom. A Tanka this week. One most of us can identify with. Florence is also a member of the Lit World Interviews Team. Read her posts here. @FTThum
Greg of Potholes in the Road of Life: I Think. A Haibun. I think this one can be as he intends or for me I think it gives thoughts of maybe my own earlier years. @greg_wolford
Swatiu of imgrowing: Unfettered. Considering the prompt words, I think the title says it all. But what all does it say?
Vashti Quiroz-Vega of The Writer Next Door: Po-Po.. She got them right this week. 🙂 And I think she’s gotten a pass or two in her life. And no, not that kind of pass. Geesh you gutter minded people you. o,O Get Vashti’s current book, The Basement on Amazon by clicking here. @VashtiQV
Marigold of Versus Blurb: Thought Security. Yeah, I have no idea where I came up with the title either. I mean, I just sort of at this point in the review am lucky to be able to even think myself. Okay so I know where I came up with it, but you have to go see why. Go purchase Marigold Deidre Dicer’s book The Black Swan Inheritance from Smashwords, Kobo, Barnes and Noble or the iBooks store or purchase it from Amazon on Kindle by clicking here. @MarigoldDicer

E. Rawls of E. Rawls: Author creating stories and art: My Head in the Clouds and I Think. I think there will be no cloud visits unless you stay free and clear of that second one. Remember another author in the house. I think the best would be to her book page on her weebly site, http://erawls.weebly.com/ @VChronicles_
Shailzaa of Fewunsaidwords: Ego Destroyers. That last sentence kind of made me think a bit.
Claudette of to search and to find happiness in every day: Delusion. Definite true message.
Canaf of Faithful Devotionals: True Freedom. A freedom that is less and less apparent these days. Awesome image!
Skybright1 of from heart to head: Memories. Somewhat romanticalish. 🙂 I made up a word.
Jane Dougherty of Jane Dougherty Writes: Utopia. Love the peacefulness of these two. She is a published author after all. And I have interviewed her and reviewed one of her books. Visit her Amazon Author page for her books by clicking here. You can read my interview with her and her co-author here which has a link to my review. @MJDougherty33
